Good morning ,
I'm up so I thought I would open up the thread.
We are suppose to be cloudy all day.
I made the to little ghost pillows yesterday so now they are all done and I will now get back to the cat quilt.
But before I start that I have a load of wash that I need to do.
Mary z how was your ham casserole?
Chriss maybe your cousin could rent a Pod.
So happy your going to Richard's to finally see Elliot I'm sure you will help them to relax and bringing them some meals will make it much easier.
Dorothy I hope you get to spend your day at home.
Lori that sounds like a really nice place for your dad.
Well thats all the news from here.
Have a nice day.
Prayers go out to all.
Lois

Good morning I’m up waiting for the aid to come and help me get dressed. It’s pain having to wait for everything here, but it is what it is. I’m sitting on the side of the bed bending my knee and blood got drawn this morning my blood count really low so that might be why I’m not feeling 100%, I’d like to get dressed if I could get out of the bed if I could but orders are only with help. So the nurses and aides are good. Here I’m not used to being waited on Hope you all
Are doing good I miss. My sewing room and my house

Good morning,
JUDI - I think it's a good sign that you are up and ready and eager to greet the day (except that you have to wait for someone to have time to help you.) You are two nights down in rehab, and only 12 to go! You're doing so well!
LOIS - I won't be meeting you in the laundry room today. Between sheets, rugs, and a week and a half of clothes I've just finished 10 loads. I'm done! I made your ham casserole last night, only I made some changes - at least for this time. Bill wanted potatoes instead of noodles, so I used par-boiled diced potato instead. And Dijon mustard instead of regular. I also added a sprinkling of red pepper flakes because we like a little 'zing'. It was delicious! We have leftovers for tonite.
LORI - It's a hard decision to move Dad, I'm sure, but the reality is, it sounds like the time has come. After watching my brother go through this with his wife - at the heart of Covid, no less - I believe you are making the right decision. The B&C homes can be very nice and such a great alternative to a large facility.
IRISH - we don't care how late you arrive, we're just glad you came to the party!! And you know, in my neck of the woods, you weren't all that late - just in time for happy hour! Can't believe Maeve is almost 2 already. Do you know what the new baby is going to be named? Wow! Moving just when you have a baby and an almost 2-yr old to boot. Their lives are full! A good house-warming gift for them might be a fistful of coupons for pizza delivery and a stack of frozen homemade meals!
LYN - I really hope your Jeep is now on the straight and narrow! Though, there aren't many straight roads in the hill country - just narrow! The same thing happened to my DBIL who was towing his fifth-wheel in FL. They were 100 miles from their destination. They had to leave their pick-up at Ford dealership and a friend of their friend's came to tow their fiver the last 100 miles. After a few days, they got the call to come get the truck. Their friends drove them back (100 miles), they got the pick-up, and 10 miles down the road same thing was happening. They limped back to the dealership. Had to leave it. 100 miles back to their trailer and another week goes by. Then borrow a vehicle to drive back again - they know the route by now - and finally the truck was fixed right. Life is an adventure! Ya gotta savor the good with the bad or else the good doesn't mean as much.
SHARONA - I love the term you coined - "baby legs"! Great! Hope your day went smoothly and your dental appt was just a cleaning. I remember now that your project was an armchair organizer. I have one of those from a past Secret Santa (Val) and I love it!
MARY Q - Your DB and DSIL are staying home this winter? Will they stay in their cabin or in their Airstream? How do they like their Airstream? You either love them or hate them. Very little storage and no slides. I'm not a lover. But there are lots of folks who would have nothing else. Did you get to sew yesterday or were there squirrels crossing your path? I love those 3 and 4 drawer plastic carts. I think they call them iris carts? I have two in my sewing room and Sue has a large one - about 36" across with 3 or 4 deep drawers for her scraps.
CHRISS - Only 48 hours! How many meals can you make in 48 hours? You will be a welcome sight for sure! How long will you stay? I'm glad to hear you allowed yourself a little treat of cake! You deserve it!
JANA - good to hear Mr. G is responding to the PT. Does he do much exercise - daily walk through the neighborhood, maybe? Motion is the lotion that keeps us in locomotion. According to my chiropractor. What's the current project in the Batt Cave. For some reason I can't keep track of your "sewings".
BECCA - How many apples did you get? Do you freeze your cut and peeled apples or do you make your applesauce first and then freeze it? Seems like it would take up less space if it's cooked first. I love homemade applesauce. I add cinnamon to it and I like to leave a few chunky bits of apple, too.
TINA - how is everybody feeling at your house? Sounds like not much sewing is going on with all the cleaning. I really hope Dad makes an effort to not make such a mess. I found if I talked to my dad, he didn't listen at all. But if another MAN - my brothers or Bill (who Daddy always called Bob
) said something, it was golden. So maybe if Frankie told your Dad to be more aware of the messes he's making he might listen.
VAL - where are you? Did you get all your classes finished? Just think - only about 8 more weeks and you'll be dropping your night shift job! Yay!
Yesterday I got in about 3 hours of yard work. Yay! And I have about 12 hours to go. Not yay. But this will probably do it for me this year. I listen to an audio book downloaded from the library to my phone so I get to indulge my reading habit while I work. Scottie lounged in the sunshine, keeping me company. I have a haircut appt at 11:30 so no yardwork this morning. I get so dirty in the yard! But maybe this afternoon. I think I'll work on quilting my wallhanging today. When I get this finished, I plan to make a pair of pillowcases for my brother for Christmas. Every year we send him a Hickory Farms cheese and sausage box but I like to add a little something personal, too.
Have a fantastic Friday!

Another sunny day in the Hill Country.
As the saying goes, third times the charm. I left the Jeep dealer and it still wasn't right. Went back and asked the service writer to drive it. He did, agreed it wasn't right, so back on the lift. Finally got out of there at 2. MaryZ, I'm glad I didn't have to drive as far as your sis & DBIL.
The 50 extension cord got here and MH is hooked up. The tire covers surprisingly showed up yesterday. I need to do some cleaning and laundry before we head to Colorado, so don't have a date yet.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning!
Lois - happy sewing.
Judi - not being able to do things for yourself is very frustrating. I bet they will be thrilled to see you up and ready to get your day started. PT is sure not fun, but needed, as I know you know.
Maryz - that is a lot of yardwork! Happy haircut day. I like your chiropractor's saying.
Lyn - so glad they finally fixed the problem. How vexing.
Lori - ditto with what you said about our sons making it do adulthood. The residential place does sound perfect.
Chriss - I'm so excited for you to take yourself and your meals to meet Elliott.
We are headed up to north Aurora today for Miss Maisie's spa appointment. We go to Costco so it will be somewhat productive plus we get the twist ice cream as a treat. We will be in the high 80s for the next week or so. I can't believe we are still using a/c and wearing shorts. Dinner tonight is leftover chinese food. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona
Maryq - I was dancing on your hairs. Yes it is a far piece to go for Chinese. Jim's haircut place is in the same parking lot as the restaurant, so we only have it every five weeks. You were so good yesterday, staying within your budget! Good for you. We also do our laundry in one day, or should I say Jim does. It's also about five loads. Great minds think alike.

Good morning Girls
Oh such a lovely day here this morning!! As soon as I knew my coffee was done, I figured I'd get up and get a good start on the day! (Coffee starts brewing at 7:45)
Lois... Must be ESP ... before I even poured said cup of coffee I threw in a load of laundry. I do all my laundry in one day--usually about 4 or 5 loads and I'm done! Now that the ghost pillows are done... you're off to do cats!! After Cats do you have another project in mind?
Judi... Oh so good to see you this morning! Kind of sucks to have to wait to have somebody come help you get dressed, especially when you are raring to go! I'm guessing they will have you start on some PT right away. Hope it's not painful. From what I hear it's very important. Even when I had carpal tunnel, I think the PT I did really helped. Maybe you will do so well, they will say you can go home early. I bet you miss sleeping with your buddy!
Maryz... Yup Greg & Carol will stay in their cabin... it's actually fully weatherized for MN winter. They do love Airstreams, tho I think I'd prefer one more like yours with the slides. The one they have now I think is their 3rd one. I haven't been up to see their place yet, I'm waiting for my brother Bill to fly up in a little plane, pick me up and then fly up to Greg & Carols. Getting a haircut sounds like a good reason to avoid yard work... you don't want to mess up your new hair do!!
Lori... Oh what wonderful news that you have found a good safe place for Dad. I think that's the most important thing... to have a place where he can be safe--someone to watch over him and make sure he gets fed and all his needs met. I hope he likes it there. I have this terrible fear that I am going to go down that road for myself, as I can never remember where I put things!!! One of the warning signs!
Sharon.... 35 Miles is a long way to go for good Chinese food, but it might be worth it. There is a Vietnamese place just up the road, I may have to try that sometime!
Lyn... Oh yes, Love Orange Chicken from the freezer section. Can't remember the brand now, but they come in a black bag!

I used to get them all the time, one serving would ok but it tastes so good I want to eat the whole bag!! Did you get a chance to look at flooring the other day? Find any your like? Are you taking the MH to Colorado or just the Jeep?
Irish.... Do you hate WM as much as I do!? I avoid when /if possible, but they are the closest place I can get sewing notions if I need something. Though I drove up there specifically to get 1/2" elastic and they had NONE! But I did find some fabric on sale. Do you ever watch Youtube? Search for "Christine's Home Affairs" and you'll find all sort of fun things to make for craft fairs. It's addicting!! I've made kleenex holders, chapstick holders, little wallets, bigger wallets, tote bags, and my lace earrings and lace ornaments on my embroidery machine. I have a lot of flour sack towels that I did last year, but they were not big sellers, so this year I'll reduce the price a little.
Chriss... Has it been a whirlwind in your kitchen cooking up meals for the kids? How long with you be able to stay? I hope a few days!! In the fall, even tho I'm not a fan of cooking, I do like to make double batches of stuff and freeze... it's just so handy to have something on standby when I really don't feel like cooking. Next week, when/if it cools down it will be time for a big pot of chili and a double batch of "beer" cheese soup!
Katie forced me to go look at the fabric sale yesterday. I did pretty good, didn't overspend my budget and picked up a few nice pieces. Found a darling set of 12 FQ's--all Halloween Fabric for Viv. They are coming up this weekend and I know she will love them. Found a few patterns too the she might like, and a couple cute ones for me too--the patterns were free. So between loads of regular laundry I'll get most of the stuff washed up and organized. There was a beautiful set of Christmas prints too that I'm going to try to make some placemats for my Sissie out of. She's kind of picky, but I think she will like this stuff.
My washer has played it's little tune so time to go switch loads.
Hope you all have a sunny happy day!

Good morning!
A beautiful day here, In the crossroads of the West. Some record breaking temps are predicted for these last days of September. When I was a kid, it was called Indian summer.
Yes, Mr G does exercise around here. Mostly it's a short walk. Awhile back, he bought one of those measuring thingys that officers use in measuring accident scenes, just so he could measure the distance on our court, uo the mailbox, etc, just to be able to know how far he walked. Remember, he's a engineer, no guessing, just the facts! We have PT in a short while.
Not much here, the house is presentable. I will turn the vacuum loose shortly, for him to do his thing. Just waiting on Mr G to get out of the shower to have breakfast.
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning. It's going to be another great day today.
The parents were here yesterday and so that dad could work uninterrupted I took my stepmom for a drive. We got ice cream and then back here. She likes ice cream but would have rather gone to a bar and gotten a beer. She asked me where I grew up and I told her, she just kept saying I didn't know that. Her memory of some things is really failing her. I just think Alzheimer's is awful.
I've been cooking. Today I will take the roast and divide it up for the freezer and make chicken fettuccini and a chix broccoli rice casserole. Trying to think of bland things.
I've also talked with my cousin about finding other modes of moving the things from one side of the map to the other. I gave him some options that would be less costly. Seems that Alturas is just remote enough pods or other moving companies don't want to go there.
Maryq, glad you found some fun fabric. I splurged yesterday. CT had a really cute set of FQ's and I had a 30% off coupon. So I bought them for me. Rich is still home. He did teach a night class recently but has enough sick leave that will take him though next year. If they don't have a sub available he has to teach. They both are really stressed and worry about every little thing.
Sharona, ooohhhh, a new rug. where will it go?
Lyn, kisses all around. I even have a brand new spin mop in the back of my car along with other cleaning supplies. It won't be easy for my DIL to let me do housework but I will tell her to let me feel useful. Hope that your surveyors meeting went well and that you are on your way to a finished project. Amazing what hoops you have to jump through.
O'Dorothy, I've already decided to take a change of clothes. I told my son that when he was a baby I changed shirts often. But when Marilyn came along Jerry and I compared spit up stains. Just a bit more relaxed I guess.
Lori, so glad you found BNC for your dad. what a blessing it will be to know hes safe and being cared for. I had to put Jerry in one and it really helped me. I also don't think an escape room game would be my thing either. I will definatly add smooches from you. I'm quite excited about getting to go see that little booger.
Lois, A pod won't go to where the stuff is needing to be moved. They don't service that area. But, I told my cousin to get a Uhaul, load his stuff and find a trucking company who will move it for them. Once I moved a couple of pallets of boxes from Mississippi to Cali. It just required me to get the items to their dock in Miss and picking it up at their dock in Cali.
Judi, so good to know you are doing well. I agree about being waited on, thankfully we weren't born into royalty, we'd never make it. Hope the blood work omes out in your faver.
Maryz, when you get yard work poor you could come here and be yard work rich. I have lots of meals planned, some will be duplictes. roast with potatoes and carrots, chix broccoli rice casserole, chix fettuccini, meat loaf with mac n cheese and broccoli, chix enchiladas with green sauce, ham and scalloped potatoes. I'll also cut up a bunch of stuff and clean some lettuce so they can cut up a few lettuce leaves and add a handful of the mixture and call it a salad. And I will make breakfast burritos before I head over there and wrap them in foil. They will have a variety.
Jana, my hosue is also as presentable as it's going to get until after the weekend.
I need to get moving, still in my robe, talk about lazy, but chicken is cooking and things are moving forward here. After all this cooking I probably won't even want to eat dinner last nigth was a cut up tomato and cheese, tonight just might be the same.
You all have a fantastic day,
Chriss

Good afternoon from a rainy, warm, S.W. Pa....We really do need the rain but was wishing for a clear day and weekend for the kids when they move....We had a laugh, the other night was the walk through and the people (an older couple) were still living there...I said, when the kids move in, it's going to be a little crowded but maybe the woman would like to be a baby or dog sitter...We're thinking, being an older couple, they probably raised their family in this house and now are downsizing. It sure is a big house, 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, big family room upstairs and also one downstairs and a huge yard...Maeve will have a good time exploring with their 2 dogs.....Kevin will be in charge of Maeve, Emma and all the dogs tomorrow while the rest move the big stuff....He figured, those younger guys have a better back than he does...
MaryZ, Are you taking in laundry to have that many loads???? I've always loved washing clothes and my Mom would say, people will say, you're either darn clean or darn dirty......So far we haven't heard of a name but we think, they like to pick a name that suits the baby after they get to know her...With Maeve, she was in labor for at least 20 hours and then they did a section...This time, I haven't seen her in a couple of weeks but Kevin said she's really big, looks like twins, lol.....
Yesterday, I told JoAnn, I was staying home all day today, not to call but she didn't listen....She figures, I'll need a break so cards at her house with the youngins.....She also has a friend who comes but hates to drive at night so she'll spend the night...Never a dull moment!
Judi, so happy to hear from you....Just keep thinking, one day at a time and pretty soon, you'll be back home...Hoping the pain is under control.......
Lori, the new place sounds perfect for your Dad...I like the idea of not having too many residents and can give them more individual attention....Hopefully, your Dad will get very spoiled, lol......I also think it will give you lots of peace knowing he'll be taken care of in a good way.....Good choice!
Chriss, getting close, I smile every time I think of that first time you hold Elliot...What a thrill! Could I make a deal with you??? If I decide to have another one, will you come and clean and make food for me??? Safe travels and keep us up to date with lots of pictures if you can......Enjoy every minute......
Maryq, I have decided, I will not go in Walmart again but there are a couple things I do like and I'll do a order and pick up....I needed pimentos to make my chicken ala king and had 3 different people looking for this tiny jar and of course, they had none, even though there was a spot on the shelf...And I do like their coffee. I get the half decaf/half regular, so I loaded up on that....There wasn't much in the craft department but I had already been to JoAnn Fabrics so I sure didn't need anything else....I'm using my scraps to make pot holders, hot pads and place mats...Since our show isn't until the 1st of Nov., most of my stuff will be for Christmas, just a few fall things.....
Lyn, glad to hear you finally got things done the right way....I think most people are in such a hurry these days, they miss or maybe they just don't care...A lot don't take pride in their job as they used to.....So, your sewing shed is at the house in Texas, right? And you'll be going back to Col., for how long? Do you ever find yourself wondering where you are or supposed to be ?lol......
Well, better run, my machine is calling.....I was just thinking, years ago, when Nick was visiting, he wanted to learn to sew and then quilt....He practiced and at the time, was quite good...Oh how I wish he was here now, he could even have his own machine....Just praying for he and Trish in Florida as well as all those who are in the path of that storm......
You all have a great rest of the day..................

Thanks everyone for your positive reinforcement. This is not an easy decision.
Maryz, I know what you mean about men not listening to women. That used to happen when I was working all the time. I think it's mostly generational.
Chriss, I want Sunday to get here faster. I'm so excited for you. I definitely want to see some cute pictures of the little mister.
Jana, a measuring wheel must come in handy. Of course most people just use a pedometer, but don't tell Michael that.
Maryq, it's always fun to go look at fabric. I love Halloween fabrics. Viv will be very happy I'm sure.
Sharona, have you ever had Krekle's custard? It's really good. The Krekle's is a family owned business that started in central Il. It's a small family owned business.
Tina, how are you? Hope you aren't over doing things. My dad is messy too. He's oblivious to what he is doing sometimes.
We'll Bridge club was this morning. I came home made dad a late breakfast, then made a tub of popcorn for a party I'm heading out to this afternoon. Then we have a Jazz concert at Chapman University tonight. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I don't have any plans.
Have a lovely day.
