Good morning,

We are home from camping a day early but with Dog Boy so sick, we didn't want to be stuck in Oregon with a hospitalized dog. We got him to our own vet yesterday afternoon and after $783 of exams, bloodwork, sub-Q fluids, and meds, their best guess is "maybe an intestinal infection". He was given an anti-nausea injection but he still doesn't want to eat. Vet said chicken and rice so I told Bill he was getting leftover chicken and rice for his dinner. Anyway if he's not better by tomorrow we go back for more tests. They wanted to see if he will improve without more expensive tests like ultrasound, etc.

CHRISS - so glad to hear Buster seems to be improving and hopefully his parents relaxing a bit. You have sure gotten a lot of things accomplished at your house. Whatever will you do when you cross that last item off your to-do list??

SHARONA - What was for breakfast yesterday? You had company? Just for breakfast or were they overnight? How are you feeling? When is your next dr appt?

JANA - you say you made doughnuts like it's no big thang!! I've never made doughnuts! They seem crazy difficult to me. I make cream puffs, souffles, and even a baked Alaska once, but never brave enough to try doughnuts.

MARY Q - I keep my grocery list on the fridge - one for Costco and one for Freddy's (Kroger). And I try to remember to take a picture of them as shopping day approaches, just in case I forget the lists. I have to say, Alexa scares me -I don't trust who all might on the other end, listening to everything that is said inside the house. Not that we say much of interest to anyone, but the idea repels me. I prefer my paper lists. Though, even with that I often forget things. So wonderful to have your bathroom painted. Even better to have a DDIL that would do that for you!

DIANE - sorry to hear Joe is having trouble with his treatments. How often are they and how long do the side effects last? Funny that your dog ate pebbles. Becca had a dog once she named Pebbles. My friend had a black lab that brought orange-sized rocks up from the beach - but she never ate them. However, I remember as a very little girl, eating small rocks from my parents front pathway. Just to see if I could swallow them.

LOIS - My Bill and I hang out on our deck, too, every afternoon/evening about 5 months of the year. Love it! I picture your deck on waterfront. Is it?

JUDI - glad you got your long-handle shoehorn. I was going to suggest one but got side-tracked and forgot. Bill gave me two of them for Christmas last year. I might also suggest, if you don't have them already, those Sketchers Slide-ins. They really work and are comfy.

LYN - you are in Texas! Yay! How long do you think you'll stay there before going back to CO? Or might you bag CO this year and just stay put?

TINA - are you done cleaning for Dad now? And are you rested up? I saw where you are walking every day. Good for you! You have really been doing a lot of good things for yourself lately! I wish I had half of your (and Chriss's and Mary Q's) self-discipline!

So we are home. Waiting to see if poor Scottie lives. It's possible he got into something a day or two before we left on our trip. He is very rarely off leash. but when we were in and out of the trailer, packing, last weekend, we let him lay in the grass and watch us. He might have sneaked over to our neighbors on our north side and helped himself to God knows what. But every time I checked on him he was here. And he had his annual check-up just two weeks ago and was even checked for giardia and other possible parasites and he was clear and healthy except for some arthritis.

At least I was able to get in some sewing while we were gone and actually finish my wall hanging. We also got our trailer emptied and the laundry and cleaning process begins today. We don't plan to be using it again until we leave for Texas, Nov 8 or 9 so no rush.

Wishing everyone a blessed Sunday!

Good morning all..it is cloudy but still over 80 today,,,we will start to see 70s each day for the next week or 2. leaves are starting to fall and change colors.
Today is sheet changing day and according to the hospital you need to shower with special soap for 3 days pre op and sleep on clean sheets each night and with clean pajamas,,LOL that is too funny,,,,( infection control) they dont even change your sheets in the hospital now...unless you have an ooops or something spills///We shower at night and both go to bed clean so that is what I will continue to do.
As far as making donut we grew up with Polish donuts called "Paczci" ( prounced poonchki) they were deep fried and filled with all kinds of bad things,,,( according to who?) my mom used pillsbury biscuits dough and fried it up in hot oil and covered it with cinnamon sugar and my kids loved them...now they have donut shaped pans and recipes for the same only baked...they are very good ( Ina Garten has a recipe)
I will not have Alexa either I dont like the eves dropping...if you dont believe this is true ask her a few questions about certain products and those same products will show up in your emails and on your computer pages.. Google doesnt even hide the fact that they use your info for marketing.
I am packed and ready to go its like your going on a NOT Fun vacation...clothes and all the bathroom stuff shampoo and hair stuff all packed...I do have 2 pair of shoes to take Van's and a generic pair of tennies...I have Hey Dudes and love them but was told they are not supportive enough..lots of socks for my cold feet, tonight I start the special soap showers..the last one is before the trip to the hospital''' If I am to be there at 5;30 like Ken was I have to get up and shower ar 3 am..in order to get my hair washed and dried and be att he hospital at 530. I am thinking I will be the first,,in the morning since i have been waiting 3 and a half months for this surgery...
im off to have coffee and toast this morning,,not been too hungry and Ken is feeling the effects of the ozempic and has no appetite..he has lost over 20# and looks great and blood sugar is super good..so all is well
Hope you are all having a great weekend. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
A few spare prayers for Scottie the sick little dog and for me to have low anxiety and a successful surgery...I know this will hapeen...xxxooo

Good morning!

Bright and quite chilly here. Tempted to turn on some heat, but won't. We should warm up later.

Church is a bit later. It's the Primary children's program today. They give the talks and sing. They have practiced the songs and learned new songs too. Sarah is the primary chorister in her Ward and her kids, in that Ward are doing their program today too. Even the little 3 y/o's give a short talk, about a one sentence version. They sit in the very front row , on the pulpit and are so entertaining to watch. They wiggle, wave to their mom and even at times, pick their nose! Oh, and get a foot caught in the folding choir seat. Their primary teacher has her hands full! I know, I taught that age and all the others over the years!

The replacement satellite receiver arrived yesterday afternoon and Mr G installed it. He is unusually slow these days. I stayed quiet and didn't volunteer to help, until the activation needed to be done. Following the online steps gave me fits and didn't work, so called Dish for help. Even the tech had difficulties, but we finally succeeded. Halfway through my BYU football game! All in all, over 6 hours, missed two different halfs of my games. 😞 But both teams wons. Now to re-setup all the timers on shows we record and the guides for our favorite stations we watch. That will be done after church. The football geniuses in this TV area have seen it fit not to show my 9'ers ! So there's nothing as to football to watch. When that ugly is done, I head downstairs to sew a little.

Daniel will be over working on the deck, we're getting there! We tease him, that snow is coming on Conference weekend. That's the first weekend of October. It always snows then! That's a given, doesn't mean it stays.

Maryz -- hope the meds work for Scottie. He's well known for getting into stuff! These doughnuts are super easy! They're cake type and I follow a really good recipe. It stirs up like a biscuits dough, then patted out to a half in thick and cut with a doughnut cutter. I have a medium size deep fryer and do 5 at a time. The fryer keeps the oil at the right temp. My recipe makes 15 doughnuts and holes . Chocolate glaze is super simple, whipping cream and chocolate chips. Its called ganache, what's in the center of truffle candy when it hardens. Yeast doughnuts are a whole different beast - those I haven't tried yet, as they take hours for the dough.

I have those slide in tennis shoes, mine are the Kizik brand and I love love love them! They are comfy and fit perfectly.

Time to get dressed,

Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls

Happy Sunday.... Ok, I've been up for a while, got caught up surfing stuff on the internet before I peeked in here! Looks like a lovely day on tap here and I think I'll be heading out to the garage soon. But first a check in with you guys!

Maryz... So sorry to hear you had to cut your trip short (sorry not sorry?) Sorry that Scottie got so sick., but no that you got to come home! Hope he perks up in the next couple days and feels like his old self again! I do sometimes worry about Alexa, but I guess as long as I'm not talking about state secrets, I'm ok. I only really use her to ask what the weather is and to turn lights off and on. Shawn has one that tells you when the washer and dryer are done and you can tell her to change the temp of the furnace! I think I would like that, but my furnace is too old! Has anybody started cleaning up at Vicki's? I'm guessing they will tear her house down etc. if a developer bought it.

Judi.... Oh I know Alexa hears me, I think there is a way to turn that feature off, but I haven't figured it out. I get more stuff on my screen in the morning if I've actually googled it. I looked up the fabric Valerie was using and the next door I had all sort of ads for it. I have a big post-it note on my computer for Tuesday morning, and even tho I won't be UP at 5:30am I'll be thinking about you all day. Is there somebody--Ken or Colleen that can let us know how you are doing! Feel Free to have someone text me and I can relate the info!!!

Jana... Now that I have googled Kizik shoes.... tomorrow morning I'll have all sorts of ads on my computer for them or any other shoes!! I'm kind of Sketchers gal and once a year run up to the outlet mall 2 miles from me to get a new pair---I think I'm due. Just chaps my hide though at how expensive shoes are!! I could buy a lot of pretty fabric for the price of one pair of shoes!

Chriss... I'll send lots of good thoughts that little Elliott will have put on a few ounces at least... could we hope for a full pound? When I was trying to nurse Shawn, the Dr said, have a little glass of wine just before... it will help you relax. When he was teething he said rub a little whiskey on his gums, and take a shot yourself!! Did you find what you were looking for a Home Depot? I found the toilets I want... on sale, but only if you buy in store--guess I'll have to go back up there!

It's wonderfully cool here, so I threw some meat in the crock pot this morning and think it will either be veggie beef soup or beef and gravy with potatoes for supper. I'm going to head out to the garage now, so if you need me that's where I'll be!!

Has anybody heard from Flo or Katy lately?

Already 80°, feels like temp 90°, and we're to top off at 96°, so I bet feels like will be over 100°.

At the moment I'm sitting in mostly shade on the east porch, drinking coffee, and Minnie has found sun on a rug so getting her Vitamin D.

MaryZ, I hope Scottie feels better today. Yes, we need to go to Colorado, probably at the end of this week. I really want to get the tractor and my sewing room down here.

MaryQ, You have me rethinking my floor choice for the sewing cabin.

I have an app on my phone, called Out of Milk. It is very helpful.

Judi, You got this. It will go well. Sending you prayers and a hug 💞

Yesterday was National Jelly Roll Day, or so said the Llano quilt shop email. So, I felt it was my duty to go see if they had something I needed. I found a free magazine with the Qwillow pattern in it. I want to make one for my DGD. I'm sure I have it in Colorado, but now I can put the magazine with the fabric. Found some teal fabric for a future project for my Canada kids. I also stopped at Cooper's BBQ and brought home dinner, brisket and a little turkey and some sides. It's good, but pricey.

Today I will empty the Jeep. The guy mowed the lawn just before we got here, but missed a couple spots in Minnie's little yard, so I might fix that. I told myself I was going to just rest a few days, but I feel the pull to get things done. Tomorrow I will be up and going before 8. The electrician is coming to put a 50 amp plug on our pole, so I can run an extension cord to the MH. Right now I have it plugged into a 20 amp outlet in the garage. I just need power for frig and keep batteries topped off, but I can't risk the breaker popping when we're in Colorado. The guy will also start the electric on the cabin.

Time for more coffee. May everyone have a blessed day.
Lyn

Good morning. Here we go, another beautiful day. Looks like we will warm up this week then finally accept the fact that fall is going to come in and take over. Summer just has to try to get the last word.

I need to head into town this morning nd get a few groceries and some cash. My handyman will be here this afternoon and I have to pay him. I love that I can make a pile of stuff and pay to make it go away.

Dad will also be here today. He does a lot for me. So thankful that God made him my dad. One day I will do a lot for him, he's just not old enough for that yet. He will be 85 at the end of this year.

Maryz, welcome home. Hope Scottie improves and is his old self soon. Is Vicky's house still there? You made me laugh, you said no hurry in cleaning the trailer but I bet it is already sparkling and ready to stuff for your November trip. I think it will be quite a while before the last thing is crossed off of my todo list. But I think, when it is all said and done, I will sit back and enjoy it. I also don't trust Alexa. I don't even like that I google something and it appears in my news feed or my FB feed. kinda creepy.

Judi, crazy all the "new rules" for surgery. Would they even know if you didn't use the special soap. And why clean your whole body in that soap if they are only doing your knee. And, yes there's always more, what do they do when some one shows up for emergency surgery? Jerry has made donuts before. We used to melt butter with cinamon and sugar in a baking dish and add a tube of busciuts and bake. That was as close to a donut as I have ever made. You will go in for that surgery and when you wake up it will all be a memory, the real healing will begin. I'm excited for you to have this done and you will be new and improved.

Jana, I love to watch kids programs too. they are so cute. I've seen the skechers version of those slip on shoes at Big5 and sometimes there is a coupon that makes them $50. I haven't tried them yet, still using the skechers with bungies or New Balance with ties.

Lois, what a blessing Billy is to put that table together. when will your machine get there? How long till you are quilting?

Maryq, I didn't end up going to HD. Dad had planned on being here then called to say he wasn't going to make it. He is a great deal of help, he also doesn't get moving early mostly because of my step mom. But I am grateful and follow his schedule. I hope you get your new toilet, if they throw in a fiberglass shower insert for free have them send it my way. Mine could use replacing. I think Elliott will have put on a few ounces. In all he lost 8 ounces. being born must take a lot out of you and you have to adjust to a new way of eating. It's a learnig process. He just needed to learn a new way of doing things while causing anxiety for his parents.

Lyn, my resting often turns into getting something done too. I had forgotten aobut a Quillow, when Elliott gets bigge I will make one for him. Nice to come home to a neat lawn and sit and soak up the rays.

I need to move my butt, you all have a marvelous day,
Chriss

Hi everyone!
I've tried posting a couple times already today and keep getting interrupted by my own thoughts.
Maryz, I'm deep cleaning my house today. I'm using our shop vac on reverse and it's blowing and I'm using our rainbow vac on suck and it's helping pull in what the shop vac it blowing all over and then I'm also using my shark upright vac to vacuum..... it's very noisy at my house! Dad's house will probably be next week because Holly said she'd help me and she's on Fall break for 2 weeks. After I get done today with mine I'm going to see if Holly will Fall decorate for me.
I sure hope Scotty feels better soon, poor little dude.
Judi, guess they don't want any bacteria on your skin to cause any problems, scrub a dub dub.
Chriss, I hope Elliot has put on at least a half pound now 🙏
Lois, yay you have your table, sons are great helpers huh.
Jana, funny you should mention donuts..... Holly walked in yesterday and said "Dad said you're making donuts" I was like what?! She laughed and said he actually said "where's the donuts" , she didn't bring any so figured I'd just make some 🤣😂 I do make the cake donuts recipe in the BC cookbook and have for almost 40 years, I also make yeast donuts, they aren't hard just a little time consuming and they usually are finished around 10 or 11am 🤣😂 because they take so long to rise. I'm considering doing them the night before and letting them rise only in the morning and seeing if that will work..... they all love them, they're really light and fluffy.
Lyn and Maryq, I'm curious to see what flooring you both decide on. I need some but cha-ching is gonna be alot because almost my whole house is laminate wood and it all needs replacing and the 2 bathrooms need something too.
I better scoot, I had to take a break and catch my breath, dusting and mopping is next.
You all have a great day!
Tina

Maryz, I sure hope Scottie just has an upset tummy. It's so stressful to have a sick animal.
Please keep us updated on the furry one. How's Miss Boots? I bet you are ready to get you hands on that little cutie pie soon.

Maryq, the only smart things in our house is us. lol Phone and computers gather enough data on us as it is.
I don't need another device to do it.

Judi, sounds like you are ready. I read some disturbing information about Ozempic yesterday. It said they are finding it causes significant bone loss. I would think that could be really dangerous for older people.

Jana, I wonder is you can make donuts in the air fryer. Just a thought.

Lois, summertime clothes are smaller and take up less room in the laundry. Once we start wearing jeans again, it fills up fast. We just got out our jeans and long pants this week.

Maryq, I was just thinking I need to get something to put in the crockpot. Maybe a beef or pork roast. My mom suggested whiskey on the gums. I guess that's what they did back in the day.

Lyn, my son is having hookups put in for his trailer. He also had the people that put in his septic tank put in a line for his trailer. He is completely rebuilding his place in Jasper, TX. Took it down to the studs and had to redo almost everything. I saw a Quillow in a magazine just last month. I think they are making a comeback.

Chriss, I need to get groceries for myself and dad. It will wait until tomorrow. It's probably a lot of work for him to get you mom ready and going. Glad you have people to help you with things.

I did some laundry at dads and watered his backyard a bit. He has lost his house keys and can't find them. I looked everywhere I could think of and couldn't find them. I'm sure they'll eventually show up. He doesn't leave the house, so they are in there somewhere.

Dinner was chicken on the grill.

Sleep well
