THURSDAY, February 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 08, 2024 3:09 am

Good morning,

We are warm this morning at 61* and going to 73* today - warmer tomorrow. Not bad for our last few days of babysitting. Hopefully we'll get in a nice long walk in the stroller this afternoon.

CHRISS - while Amazon is very often a great deal, not always. Smart to compare your prices. And Sue's fabric storage is one full wall of open shelving, floor to ceiling. Her fabric is all neatly folded and organized by color, though I think she had a few types of fabrics separate like 30's, batiks, CW, Christmas, etc. And her scraps were in a 2 ft wide, 4-drawer plastic cart. Her fabric and cutting table is in a separate room off her main sewing room which is the "bonus" room in her house. What a fun playroom!!

LYN - That was fast - you found your TV already? Is it up and running yet? As Boondocker hosts, we've seen many single women full-timing. In fact there is a large group associated with Escapees just for women who RV travel alone. I hope your friend is familiar with both Boondockers and Escapee's.

MARY Q - did you have a nice visit with your DB? When are they flying back to TX? Will you make the airport run with them? Have you started on that wedding quilt yet?

JANA - did the kit arrive?? Is it the entire kit or just the embellishment kit that you are waiting for?

VAL - sorry Josiah didn't get DC'd but on the other hand, you sure wouldn't want him to go back to NV needing a procedure done! Which quilt is it that you are trying so deperately to get finished?

JUDI - when we were in FL, a pair of ~4' tall grey birds strolled through the yard where we were staying. I think they had a red thingie on their noses. My sister told me they were storks. I'm Sorry your weather isn't quite what you were hoping for. But looks like better days ahead for you!

Today is an early day - kids asked us if we could come at 0700. Which means we leave here at 0625. Aut has a board meeting at 0800 and she needs to get there early to set up tables, chairs, handouts, coffee, etc. We're up early so it's no biggee but it does mean that Foxy doesn't get to go out this morning. I don't let him out until daylight. He only stays out about 10-15 minutes, but he's a much happier cat if he's allowed a little outside time. Too bad for Foxtrot.

I hope you all have a good day!

Good morning Mary and all that follow
Exciting day. I am going to look at new car. As you know my car is 20 years old and has some major problems. I am looking at a new Malibu Rs. Bright red. LOl I have promised myself I would keep my old car until I turned 75. And I saved for a new car. Its time .
I got a lot of phone business done yesterday. I had to call old farm renter for tax info. He hand delivered it after my second call in two weeks. I got my tax appointment. Then I got a call from my propane dealer. I had sent a check since I had not got a bill with a request that they put my name on billing. She told me I needed to talk to another lady in Galesburg. So I made that call. I think I am caught up with everything.
I also paid bills. I also got minor chores done.
I still need prayers for me and Jim. Jim is doing better but needs a lot more help. Me to stay on track.
Barney got a haircut and a bath Tuesday. He looks so cute. He really needed one. LOl His hair had really grown out. The lady who does him does a wonderful job.
The weather is still fluctuating. Warm to cold then back again.
Maryz I am so glad you are having fun babysitting. I miss those days. My babies the twins turn 20 in april. Have fun with her they grow too fast.
Well I have to go get Barney up for his morning walk.
Y'all have a creative sewing day
Katy

Good morning Katy and Mary...I am the only one up but I hear a shower running upstairs...yesterday Gloria and my sister spent the day looking at other places to stay...Im staying out of it....I have booked the last 2 years and they always have complaints..so they can do it...My sister who is heavy and has a bad back complains about the stairs..( i have stairs at my house so they dont bother me and no one said a word til we got here) and of course the weather just might be my fault because i booked too far north in florida...So I went to hand sew my hexis and let them hash it out...
I am just doing a color wash with all the hexis...started with the blues...
Katy so glad things are looking up for you you always seem to have too much to deal with. I hope you get the new car you want...and have a good ride...Taxes are a pain..but as we call them the necessary evil///
Mary I went out to see the birds this morning therer are 4 of them here,,,one has a bum foot and doesnt like the others..they watched me take pictures but ventured no closer...I believe you are right they are storks. But I thought storks were white. here is Florida there is always something different to see I am glad you are having fun with the baby,,,It will be very very hard to leave....
today we have decided to take a ride up to Cocoa beach it is where most folks go to watch rockets take off...we went there once and watched a nuclear submarine being escorted in by a squadron of fighter jets,,,it was quite a sight. So we will take sis and Gloria to see the sites... Both my parents and another sister and my grand mother lived in Florida so we have been coming here for most of our married life...My kids honeymooned here too.
Well my coffee and cinnimon toast are done...I might just go out and watch the birds...hope you have a peaceful day and if you can do nothing else take some time to relax! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Good morning!
Maryz – have a wonderful time today with Ms. Boots. Hope Mr. Foxtrot handles his incarceration with dignity and grace.

Katy – I LOVE the color for your new car. Prayers for you and Jim continue. You got a lot done yesterday.

Flo – yuk is right! Hope those chores speed by.

Judi – so sorry your weather choices didn’t suit the rest of them. I agree – let them do it. You make FL sound very inviting.

We are headed out to have breakfast with my DBIL/DSIL. My DBIL is going in to have some vertebras in his neck fused. I can’t remember if I told y’all about him having his back fused – he didn’t even consult a neurologist even though we all begged him to. It’s quite sad as he has lost a lot of mobility. At least this time he’s going with a neurosurgeon. After we get back, I will be in my sewing hole. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Another overcast morning at the Marker house.

MaryZ, I knew Walmart had the 32" Roku's at Marble Falls store, that's where I bought the same TV for my sewing room. No, it's not up yet.

Katy, I hope you get the new car and love it. Prayers continue for you and Jim.

Judi, Some people just can't be pleased. You have no control over the weather. Happy hexi'n.

Yesterday started a little slow and relaxed. Chris and I headed to Llano about 1. I took a different route to Llano and back. Got the paper dropped off, checked for gun safes at Tractor Supply. I found a yellow for my window pane quilt. I was talking to the owner and she was saying to add 2 borders. Silly me said, or a flange, and she jumped on that idea and thought it would look great. I will decide later. We stopped at Inman's BBQ and picked up some turkey sausage that the car dealer raved about, also a little bit of brisket. Then stopped at Cooper's BBQ and picked up dinner. We compared brisket and Chris and I think Inman's had more smoke flavor.

Today Chris and I have massage appt's this morning. Then we'll get the TV up and I'm not sure what else. She's still thinking on the car and looking online if there's others.

Hope you can play with fabric today.
Lyn

Good morning and Happy Thursday!

Josiah had his surgery last evening about dinner time. He was back in his room by 7:30 and having a much needed apple juice. We haven't heard anymore about discharge but thinking possibly Friday. I have to work today so not sure when I can get any information.

Maryz the quilt I was so desperately trying to get finished was the April lotto blocks from last year. It's a long story but I have a dear friend who I go to a tea with in March. I won a quilt last year at the tea so in return I told her I would make one for this year. Well, thinking I had plenty of time and the blocks were already made I scheduled it for my December project. Then my world got turned all upside down. But guess what, I got it done. It is posted in the April thread. I will take it to the quilter tonight and she will put a rush on it and then I will sew the binding on by machine! Yeah! I can honestly say I do not think I have ever seen a stork?

Katy sounds like quite a good looking car there you got in mind. Next week I will focus on paperwork here. Will have to go back to SS to get Dad's info as the mailman has apparently delivered the paper I need for his taxes to the wrong person and that person hasn't felt the need to bring it to me. I'll bet Barney is quite the handsome gentle man! Better watch those little girl dogs.

FLo I looked for the pattern but didn't find it. Maybe they are out of stock or something.

Judi some days just watching the birds is all you need. Isn't Florida where Flamingo's are?

Sharona when I had my back surgery I did not have it fused. It was really good for a lot of years but the last 5 it has gotten progressively worse. Not sure if it would be different if I had let them fuse it. Mine was done by a neurosurgeon.

Chriss hospice nurse only once a week? That's good news. I can't for the life of me believe anyone would be afraid of Moose! Sounds like Jerry is perking up a bit. That Chemo is strong stuff and can really affect your whole well being. I hoping Josiah is out of the place soon too but worried about him going back to Reno for medical care. My DD did ask the drs here if he started having symptoms of shunt trouble would they do a CT scan and she was assured yes, they would do one before her toe was even in the door. I am wondering if they have had a conversation with someone there. I am also told that Oakland does not just DC you but they continue to follow up. So hoping.

Well it is off to the sewing room for me. I would like to get a few seams in before I have to get ready to leave for the next job. Have a great day all. I will check back in if I hear anything.

Good Rainy morning!

While I do love waking up to a full on sunshiny day... I'll take the rain. It kind of washes the sky!!

Maryz.... Oh yes I had a fun visit with my DB and SIL. But this was my brother Tim that lives on the other side of St. Paul. From my house it's 45 miles to his house. It's my brother Greg that winters in Los Indios,TX. Greg will be flying in next Thursday to attend a funeral of a old family friend, so I will get to see him then. Hope Little Miss Boots has a better day today. Will you see the kids again, after tomorrow before you leave? Are you already planning your next trip down... in only 8 months!! Did you make reservations at the same camp ground?

Katy.... OH fun!!! A bright red car!!!! When I got my Escape in 2015 I would have loved a bright RED one, but that was not a choice then. Any word on the offer to buy the farm? Is it a done deal yet? Glad to hear Jim is doing better. My DEX is doing better I hear too, from Covid, so it's a good thing we traded prayers huh?

Flo... Do you ever watch things on You Tube? Katie next door told me about gal she watches all the time, she makes of lot of cute bags, and wallets etc. IF you do. Search for "Christine's Home Affairs" I've watched a few and have made a couple little boxed bags, that I might do for the craft fair!!

Judi... I have a GREAT idea... Next year leave "the sisters" at home and just you and Ken go!!! Though it's probably nice to share expenses.. it might be worth it to NOT have to listen to whining and complaining!!

Sharon.... And what will you be sewing in your sewing hole today? It sure was fun to go OUT to eat yesterday with DB and SIL, we had a great lunch, but man breakfast out is one of my favorites. Eggs, bacon, toast, sausage, pancakes nummy. Y'all don't have Perkins Restaurants out there do you? The make the best darn omelets anywhere!

Lyn.... Do you remember when you could buy a TV, haul it home, plug it in, turn the knob for which channel you want or just MAYBE have a big remote control. Now you have to plug them, and program them to get the channels you want or add a fire stick and figure that all out! My Mom always called the remote "The Blab Off"

Valerie.... OH dear, I missed it!! Josiah had more surgery!! Are you kind of nervous about him going back home, from the stand point of... will those &$(#%&^$(& Doctors take care of him properly this time? Will you get to see him before he's DC'd to home?

Chriss.... How is the re-arranging project going? KC has been ordering boxes and boxes from Walmart and getting them delivered to her apartment, and I've seen them---they are pretty nice boxes actually. It's great that they are all the same size and stack nicely. Man I wish I could be there to help you re-organize etc!! It's so much fun!!!

So, yesterday was kind of a bust as far as sewing goes, but it sure was a fun day ! Tim brought me the ironing "station" he made for me and then put up shelves for me!! I've been asking DS Shawn to do it, but he's so busy and I admit I've been a little anxious to get them done. Tim is a pretty handy guy!! After they headed home I got all the stuff back on the shelves and it looks so pretty. I do love things organized--though they rarely stay that way.
Today I AM spending in the sewing room as I want to make a new set of Lotto blocks and get them in the mail tomorrow.
Image

Speaking of tomorrow... I may not get here in the morning. I need to go to KC's and pick up that jewelry cabinet finally. I'm dreading going but KC will be leaving on the 17th. Some days she really tries my patience and I find myself losing my temper.---which is actually quite rare for me. I'm just praying oh so hard that she does NOT miss getting on that airplane next Saturday, because if she misses it.... I'll be the one she calls!! And she will have NO place to go! Next time I see an ad from someone looking for "help"..... I'm going to run the other direction.   Unless it's one of you guys!!!

Am headed over to Supper Club to see what's for supper tonight!!

Good morning!

Snowed a tiny bit on me last night. Just a dusting. So I'm cold!

Got most of my party shopping done yesterday, but still need a few more things from a different store. Ordered the bd cake too. Delivered the meats to Matt and Aaron. Plan today to make a batch of heart shaped sugar cookies. Sarah has a great recipe that is a no chill roll out immediately dough. I will decorate them on Saturday.

My fabric kit will be here today. It's out for delivery from my post office. Mail gets here around 2 pm. It's the fabric and the embellishment kit, both. I did get my Valentine decor out and it shares a tote with my St Patrick's. Some of my St Patrick's is missing, so I am on the look out for them.

Time to scoot. Michael is on one of his favorite rants and is driving me batty! It's time to just smile sweetly,

Hugs,
Jana

Good morning wonderful ladies. Last night was nothing but rain. There is snow on the mountain that I see outside my window, which is exactly where I like it. We are a crisp 39 degrees this morning and the forecast is, mostly sunny and we should see a whopping 45. No rain is predicted the rest of the week.

Maryz, You are such an accommodating grandma, those kids are going to miss you.

Katy, sounds like things are moving forward to you. Hope you love your new car.

Flo, one day I will just have new floors. I've been saying that for years. Happy landscaping.

Judi, so it was you. You were the person who forgot to change the weather. Hope they find the perfect place next year and lighten up this year.

Sharon, enjoy breakfast. prayers for DBIL.

Lyn, you seem to have a fun friend in Chris. Sounds like she has fun going places with you. Do her husband and Garry have fun together?

Valerie, I love that April quilt. So glad Josiah is having a stiff drink after his surgery. Thrilled he is coming right along. Sounds to me like Oakland was a wise move and thrilled they follow through. Jerry surprises me. Some days he is perky and other times he sleeps. He can still move down the hall with a walker but needs help getting to a standing position. He's eating and drinking water but not much. Sometimes I have to remind myself that he has cancer, other times I know he has it. It's a roller coaster. I pray both of our boys soon meet their ultimate healing, yours at home with his mom and mine at home with his Father.

Maryq, I also love when God washes the sky. I love a beautiful day, and the rain makes everything pretty and green. I'm also getting all the same sized boxes. I will go to Lowes and pick up a bundle. I'm thinking 12x12x16 to start. I probably can clear that room with maybe 10 boxes and start making it into a bedroom again. The big chore will be, after everything is piled into the garage, arranging the garage so that the junk is gone. Not much in that garage has been used in the last few years. But that will be a job for when the weather warms up. Your ironing station is perfect, and it's on wheels, added bonus. High five to Tim for making it happen. Can you ask the airlines to help KC get on that plane? I missed it, where is she going and how long will she be gone.

Jana, don't you just love tracking a package? My dad is bringing munchies for our SB gathering here. It will be fun. Happy birthday wishes to your February birthday people

My dryer is finished. need to hang up some clothes and make some breakfast. As much as I'd like to go to the grocery store today tomorrow might be a better idea.

Happy day,
Chriss
