Good morning,

Today is Dec 7th, Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. We were fortunate enough to visit the memorial in Hawaii several years ago and it's an experience no visitor will ever forget. In 1998 the Missouri was moved from Bremerton to Pearl Harbor. I hated to see "our" Missouri leave WA but I had to admit that it is fitting to have the ship where the war ended anchored close to the ship where it began. God bless all those service me and women who were lost.

KATHY - your sandwich cookies sound tasty. I could go for a couple (dozen!) of those. . . Sounds like you have a long steep driveway. A bummer if you have to drag a heavy can UP. Better if it were reversed.

CHRISS - I don't think I've ever used off-brand rotary blades but I've always wondered the same thing. Glad you found some new things at the thrift shops. You'll be stylin' now! I'm excited to see the little ghost quilt completed, too! lol! Still just trying to decide how I want to do it. Yes, different pharmacies can work different deal with pharmaceutical companies, hence the wide ranges of prices. And Good Rx costs nothing and saved me over $200 on one Rx alone.

MARY Q - happy travels to your DB. I believe McKinney is 3 or 4 hours from us here in SW Austin. My sister is parked right next to us. Yesterday we all ran a few errands - Pharmacy, grocery, Home Depot, and back to Pharmacy. Yep. Bunches of trouble. lol! We've had a lot of adventures together over the years, but we're not nearly as wild as we like to think we are. That's funny about Shawn/Sharon's hunting license. When we were in grade school, we had 20 min a day penmanship class for 8 yrs. We learned to write using the Palmer method. You did, too (I can tell). But somehow my younger sister, a leftie, could never get the hang of it. Her handwriting looks like she dipped a baby chick's feet into ink and dabbed it across the page!

JANA - those Russian tea cakes are one of my favorites, too. Also my son's. Sorry to her Sandee has RSV. They are working on a vaccine right now for it. If it is approved, Aut's dr wants her to get it. We got our mail from home yesterday and I received a notice from my pharmacy that they are looking for age 65+ volunteers for testing. If I were home, I would do it for Autumn's sake. But I don't want to do it while I'm down here visiting her.

VAL, I'm glad your DD is on track for healing but sorry she is in such pain. Your DH's job does sound fun. Guess it's not a 'work from home' type of position.

JUDI - Here's hoping for a good report for Sophia today. Maybe she can get back to school next week? Just in time for Christmas break! Your cookies sound delicious! I'm closing my eyes and tasting them in my mind. :D Did the rest of your furniture ever arrive? Last I heard it was rumored to be delivered on Nov 30, but I got distracted about that time and forgot about it. Is your decorating all done? Glad Nolan had a happy birthday!

LOIS - good news that you got to the chiropractor. I'm missing mine! But the short stretching and cardio workouts I've been doing with Bill most days is really helping. I should do it at home, too. I wish I liked it more. But I DO like how much better it's making me feel. We have a little tree for our trailer but I need to declutter the place before we put it up.

I had a little sewing time yesterday and finished embroidering the wording panel on "River/Woods". Then I got five 6" sawtooth star blocks finished. I would have finished the 6th one except I made a goof. I brought along some of my scraps for just such an occasion so I hope I brought the right scraps. If not, I'll have to start that block all over again or else wait until I get home to make it.

Today we have major cleaning to do. My sis brought a lot of stuff to pass off to me - some from her plus a big box from my other sister. It's like it all exploded inside our trailer. We have 2 weeks of mail cluttering the table in addition to my sewing and things Bill was using and are still sitting out. It's too small a space for all this stuff so today's mission is to deal with it all, vacuum, and sweep. I have six more 6" pieced blocks to make in addition to trying to fix the one I messed up. I'll be getting out the next panel to be embroidered and I have my mind working on designs for the little ghost quilt. It's going to be an action packed day!

Wishing you well!

Good morning!

Dark and cold outside right now. My knee woke me up complaining, so I grabbed my extra blanket. Seems to be helping a bit.

Today is our normal Wednesday run with Ethan. Kate has a short training meeting, so Lila will be here for a visit. I'll have her help a bit with the last of the decorating. Daniel bought a snow brush thingy that attaches to his cordless weed whacker to help with snow removal. Well, it didn't work on his model, so he went and got the model it would work with. Tried it out and it works like a charm! Daniel clears the snow from the walks between Sandee's and here for Karlie. Karlie walks over to Sandee's every morning. Sandee is doing much better as her Dr put her on some great medication.

Kari's second interview went very well. The company was very excited about her resume and experience. Kari will know in about 5 days if they offer the job. There were others the company were interviewing. Kari would be handling just one state - Utah or Idaho for underwriting. Right now she handles the whole western US. That's a ton of work! Hope it works for her.

With today being Pearl Harbor day, the light in the lighthouse on top of Mt. Diablo will be lit. This light is no longer used except on today. My old house was not far from that mountain. In my mom's generation, she had a cousin who was one of the few survivors from the USS Arizona. Thanks to all who served then, and now. Sailors hold a special place with me, Michael was one during a wartime.

Hugs and prayers, they always work!
Jana

Good morning It is still dark but we will be almost 50 today...I am in the baking mode so today i will do sugar cookies and make the chocolate crinkle cookies dough, It needs to chill also so if I get time I will bake them. Last night as I watchied the Red Wing game I wrote out the Christmas cards,,,I have one more card to do...I walk a card over to my neighbors mail box....I usually dont send cards to those i see all the time but my neighbor loves cards so much she sends me one each year just so she will get one from me...and we live across the street from each other.. they are in their 80s and great neighbors...So i will run the cards to the postoffice and run to the market today...I think a pot of spagetti sauce will get put in the crock pot this morning,
Maybe just maybe I will get into the sewing room sometime and get my mojo back....it has been on hold for quilte awhile...I got a new issue of American Patchwork and Quilting and there was a good article on purging fabric and getting the mojo back...i want to do both...All of the fabric i purge I will take to the quilt guild in January and share on the free take table...( I must confess I have brought some magazines and books home from there, )
Good news is Sophia is much better no fever or sore throat...she wants to go back to school ( yeah she loves school) Colleen may let her go back today or tomorrow. Thank you for your prayers and concerns...

Good morning everyone. It's time for me to start being more regular here again. I really do miss reading your messages. I am glad for our prayer circle. This group are great prayer warriors.
I am working on a project from last year's Secret Santa Gift. My "Santa" gave me a nativity panel. Last year, I used pins and hung it in my sewing room. Now I am sandwiching it with batting and backing and will hang it in our living room. It is so beautiful and I want to enjoy it every day throughout the season.
A huge thank you once again for this beautiful gift.
Waiting to see the specialist for my hoarseness on Dec 21. Just hope I will find some answers.
Going to bake cookies today. Taking cookies to church next Sunday for giving to shut ins and the caroling event. Also our ladies group plan to take cookies to one of our nursing homes on the 15th. Cookies will freeze well to hold for that event.
Having more energy now that the bronchitis is gone. Now to get answers and healing for hoarseness.
Hope you all have a great day.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

Good Morning Girls

Man, I thought for sure I'd be the first one up this morning! Check this out... It's 0733 here in MN and I'm UP! I have an appointment with the eye doctor for my annual check up at 9 and I always have to allow myself plenty of time for coffee, shower, and public face!

It will take me quite a while to type to each of you, so I'll just say HOWDY for now and will maybe peek in when I get home. My eyes will be dilated so not sure I'll be able to see very well. Heck, I might even sit on the couch with eyes closed for a little bit and see what happens. I did manage to get a couple things accomplished yesterday.. Baked a couple loaves of Mom's bread. Finally found the tin loaf pans I couldn't remember where I put, so I'll be ready to go tomorrow for the next batch. Got a few gifts wrapped and under the tree--sort of. The tree only has a few lights on it as I'm waiting for you-know-who to come over and climb in my attic again for the rest of the lights and ornaments.

This afternoon is the association Christmas party. You can tell it's all old folks because dinner is at 5:00.. There will be a grand prize of a beautiful Christmas quilt.  It's a combination of different Christmas swap blocks from over the years, so thank you to all of you!

Guess I better get going.... nice thing about my Eye Dr. her office is across the street and up 2 blocks... if it was summer I might consider walking there... but It's cold and there's new snow on the ground, so guess I'll drive.

See y'all later..... when I can see!

Morning
Yesterday I got pony pouch for DGD b-day almost finished. I just need to put handles on it. I hate zippers, it took my 3 shots to get zipper in, to realize I used a bad zipper...had a tooth missing. It was a zipper I pulled from something else.....New zipper went in on 1 shot....did I say I hate zippers!
Today will he finish bag. Lyn I have a good size piece left that will make a small playmat for her or a blanket for her dolls.
Have a sew great day

Happy Wednesday to you all.

Lois hope to see pics of the tree when it is all done?

Maryz - no not a work from home type job. Yes DD really did a job on the foot. I am trying to encourage her but not sure I am doing a good job at that. She has never broken anything before. About 12 years or so ago, we also visited the memorial. It definitely left a lasting impression.

Chriss I have bought those off brands, they don't last, Get dull real quick. And just as a side note, your mat can make a big difference in your blade life. A worn mat will wear them out quickly. I notice a big difference in my blades from home to the shop. Their mats are of course ones they have gotten their use of of and now are put our for us to use.

Jana sending good vibes for Kari. It can be quite competitive out there today.

Judi good news about Sophia. Maybe one or two more days home would be good? Glad she likes school. by the way, Chocolate Crinkle cookies are one of my favorite! And I don't mind left overs!

Gram such a nice thing to do for shut ins. You don't see much stuff like that where I live. Dad's CG is rounding up blankets and such for the homeless so I will see what I can find stashed away somewhere.

Maryq guess I am old folks as we have dinner at 5. Dad will be on his bell if it is 5:05 and no dinner yet.

Flo I am with you, I hate zippers too. Use them as little as possible.

Well I did manage to get Dad's med yesterday. I will be placing a suggestion in the suggestion box. I also got my flu shot. This is the most my arm has ever hurt after a flu shot. I think he gave it too far forward. I am sure it will be better in a couple days.

My car has an appointment at 8:30 and will be at the shop most of the day so best start getting things together to get down there, CG at 7. I have a few dishes to do up before she gets here. Have some classes to do online for work and hope to sew some today.

May all your bobbins be full!

Good morning. what a wonderful day it will be today. I have two Medicare appointments and need to see if I can find Jerry a new coffee maker. There are two hardware and one drug store I town, one ought to have what I am looking for.

Judi, great news about Sophia. I like American patchwork and quilting. they have a FB page and often have free patterns. I don't subscribe to the magazine but if I was going to subscribe to a quilt magazine that would be the one. Spaghetti here tonight too.

Lois, happy decorating

Maryz, I smile every time you say that ghost quilt is being thought about. Autumn is going to be so happy with that gift.

Velda, I couldn't agree more. I've missed you and glad to see you more often.

Maryq, hoe you win the quilt ane the eye appointment goes well.

Flo what a fun treat for DGD, Sweet of Lyn to share fabric with you.

Jana, hope that knee feels better.

Val, so glad you got dad his meds. So funny about dad having dinner at 5 and not 5:05. When I would change grandma's clocks for DST she would ask if she was still supposed to get up at 6am. I do have a fairly new mat. I use an older mat for cutting anything batting.

Someone in this house needs a shower. I think it's me. You all have a marvelous day
