Suday,May15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 15, 2022 3:51 am

Good early morning,

We had another nice day yesterday. I finished my Buckeye Beauty top and pieced the backing. It's ready for LA, whenever that happens. Then we went outside to get in a little more yard work. We have a Boondocker who lives in his small camper Van (Class B RV). He's a professionnal singer, songwriter, musician and travels the entire country performing. Visited with him a bit - very interesting man. Today is supposed to be a rainy rainy day so I'll be staying inside and playing with my toys.

LOIS-did you find the new store? What did you think?

CINDY - what did you do your first day of retirement??

MARYQ- I know you were busy yesterday being sweet and kind. How is it going? You may have to teach your new best friend to make only smaller quilts and how to quilt them on her own machin. Yes,A&A did engage a photographer for their wedding. She also has a hair/make-up appt and will get flowers. They will put photos on their wedding website when they have them, and I also think we will be able watch the ceremony live stream, though I'm not sure how that will work.

CHRISS- you did find a few goodies! And had a fun day! A&A are getting married in Santa Barbara courthouse because Aut has always loved that building. Weddings are the specialty of the (court)house. She used to live in L.A. And the trip out and back to TX is their honeymoon - camping.

JUDI- when are you leaving on your trip to the Fiesta Ware Factory? I wanna go!

JAnA-Aaron is an equal opportunity rescuer! Love the duckling story! Sorry to hear about Michael's cataracts. Most people in our age group have them and are just waiting for them to grow and "ripen" before they can be removed. My friend here just had bilateral cataract surgery. I don't think most docs recommend doing both eyes at once though. Irish just had cataract surgery last week, too.

I have a little fabric to put away today, but other than that, my happy room is cleaned up. I might visit Mr/Mrs Maytag and do a load of darks and maybe I'll work on my crazy quilt. I'm still letting ideas gel for my sister's king, debating patterns, fabrics, colors. I'm typing with braces on both wrists(carpal tunnel), and using a keyboard that still doesn't like to space or use N's or B's. And then when it does, it gives me a bunch of them! Frustrating! I'm constantly trying to make corrections.

have a good Sunday everyone!

Good Sunday morning. Waiting to go to church. It's a gorgeous day here. Just watered my recently planted flowers. Drinking coffee and watch news.
Didn't sew yesterday, but did get all my fussy cut blocks cut out of the African fabric for one more special quilt. Just like the benefit quilt. Since we still have lots of this fabric, the group decided to make a quilt for the family for memories.
DH came down with a summer cold, at least we are certain that's what it must be. We still have a vivid rapid test on hand, so we might give him a test tomorrow, if symptoms don't subside.
Nothing else going on here.
Hat's off to all our law enforcement and firefighters and first responders!! ๐Ÿš“๐Ÿš’๐Ÿš‘๐Ÿ†๐ŸŽ‰

I'm back.

JUDI-yourtrip sounds so fun.We are tentatively starting to plan our long delayed trip east. Please remind me about the Fiesta ware factory when I'm yakking up travel plans next year! I love factories of all kinds. Though have to say my eyes glazed over when we went through the Cummins diesel engine plant many years ago. We didn't get to make our own engine like you and your mug.

VELDA - You must have done an excellent job if they want a repeat of that quilt!

FLO - my high school sweetheart (and first husband's) name is on that Memorial walin D.C. . I've not seen it but my DD has. I've been to the Police Hall of Fame in FL, though, and seen his name on the wall there - and on the wall here in Olympia. It's heart-wrenching, even after 37 years. His name was Michael S. Erdahl, WA State Dept of Corrections. You and Joe are welcome to Google him if you wish. Tell Joe I so apprediate all his years in law enforcement.

VALERIE-thanks to Irish, we have been watching Hays Eagle cam since the 3 eaglets were tiny white puffs. They will fledge in 3-4 weeks now. There is chatter on this site and one person showed the site to her 90 yr old dad and he has become fascinated. Made me think of your dad, wondering if he would enjoy something like that. There are wildlife cams all over the country.

Scottie got off leash yesterday and bill found him muching down on Vicki's rotten food she throws into the yard. It's been a long night with a sick dog. Ugh. This might explain why we haven't seen many raccoons in recent years. We've sent recent pictures to Code Enforcement. Thye says they will check it out. We aren't holding our breath, but perhaps as the reports mount up, something will happen. The stink is wafting our way and warm summer days are ahead.

Well,it'stimeformore coffee and a shower.

Good morning everyone. Been under the weather the last couple days. Some stomach bug or something. Trying to decide this morning if it has passed. Feeling dehydrated some so will focus on fluids.

Went to Finish it class and free sew. Got the inside portion of my 40 Fabulous years done and 3 sides of the first border. I had forgotten how heavy these large quilts can be to work with. I will spend the summer finish it classes getting the rest of the borders on and instructor will quilt it in September. I may try to figure out some way for custom quilting but think that will be $1000 or more.

Warm the last few days but I think just the mid 70's today. Ran the air a bit yesterday but just too cold so turned it off.

Dad's surgery is tomorrow. I gotta figure ot something to take for him to eat as we will be there several hours. The MOHS procedure is 75% waiting and 25% surgery. I am told he can eat in-between scraping.

Not much else new here. Hope you all have a blessed day

Good Morning Girls

Happy Sunday! Oh my... it's the middle of May already!!! Yikes... I'm afraid the summer is going to go by in the blink of an eye! Best enjoy every minute of it!

Maryz... How fun to meet such interesting people from all over! You do keep a journal of all these folks don't you! That way, when you are REALLY old, you will have something to refresh your memory!   OH yes, quite an interesting day... All I could think all day was "no good deed goes unpunished" One quilt I had to completely cut apart (with permission) most need some kind of border. I did manage to get 3 ready for Viv to quilt, some are smaller so I will do those. I'll have to dig into the rest when I get back from Wisconsin! Will play with a couple more today.. then I have to get busy getting the car packed! You are coming EAST... I'm EAST of you!!!!! No driveway to park in but camping sites close by!!!!!!

Flo.... OH good, you do use your machine to piece! Must faster to put all those 2.5" squares together by machine!

Judi..That sure sounds like a fun trip... love to see how things are made. When I was in Ireland we got to tour the Dresden Porcelain factory! I still have a little thimble I got that! And I do love Fiestaware... kind of wish I was going with you, but then I'd have to drive my car so I could bring home all the stuff I'd buy !

Velda... At your place can you have a little garden in the ground of your own? I could probably plant some hostas or something around the edges of my place, but no real garden. When I get back from Wisconsin.. then I'm going to set up my flower pots on my patio! I'm going to wait until my grandson is working at the greenhouse... I want to embarrass him just a little bit and go give him a hug !

Lois... Never heard of that "consulting fee" That's crazy... it's already pretty pricey to have a quilt done... I get adding on thread and batting... but consulting.???

Valerie... Gosh I hope you do feel better today! Holy Moly! $1000. for custom quilting? Makes me so so grateful that Viv will quilt for me for free! I owe her big time! Will send a little prayer for Dad's surgery tomorrow!

Time for more coffee and a quick shower.. in that order... then I need to get in gear and continue on with the quilts that are all over my living room!

See you tomorrow!

Good morning. It's the start of a beautiful day. We should see 85* before the sun goes down. It will cool down in the evening allowing the windows to be re-opened.

Today will be a trip to Costco, cleaning up my messy sewing room then playing in my room.

Maryz, have you tried one of those keyboards made to be ergonomically correct? Maybe your boondocker will write a song about living in your yard? I googled the courthouse in Santa Barbara, it is a beautiful building and a great choice.

Judi, your trip to Fiesta Ware sounds fun.

Lois, a consultant fee? wow, I wonder how many customers they have?

Valerie, hope you feel better soon. And hope dad's procedure goes well.

Maryq, I love that you want to embarrass your DGS just a little. enjoy planting flowers.

That's it for me, Mr. is getting dressed and I have to have some kind of breakfast before we go to Costco.

You all have a marvelous day.

Good morning!

Maryz - talked to my computer guru here as I remembered that when he used a laptop, he also had it set up to be able to use a external keyboard. He says you could possibly do wireless, with a open USB port or if the computer has a PS2 port, add a wired keyboard. Keyboards can be cheap or loaded with bells and whistles.

Church is a bit later. I have three new dresses to choose from. I do need to go through my closet and take some of my dresses that are too big and donate them to DI. Did that awhile ago, but need to do it again.

Tonight is a full lunar eclipse. They are calling it a Blood Moon Eclipse. It will be early for me, supposed to begin around 8:30 pm here in Mountain Daylight Time and finish around 11:30 pm. Should be quite the sight, as it will happen over my mountains to the east. A full moon rising over the mountains is quite spectacular each month and add the eclipse will make it more.

Yes, law enforcement needs their special day and prayers all the time. It takes someone special to step up to serve. Both my Aaron and Kate love to serve.

I did get most of my quilt, quilted. Slightly unhappy with the stitching. The top is mostly off white and a solid red reading fabric on the back. So the back thread is red and I am using invisible on the front. I am getting little tiny polka dots of the red thread 9n the top. I adjusted the tension, but to no measurable difference. It is what it is. Just one side of geese left and the piano key border. Then on to making each month's center piece. With May nearly over, and I am not fond of the June one, I am starting with July. Then will go from there. The centers should go quickly as they are not to big, about 14x20.

Hugs,
Jana
