Friday April 29

Post by QuiltGram8 » Fri Apr 29, 2022 4:32 am

Good Morning all!
Hope this is a good day for everyone. I have been up now for a couple of hours. Time to get busy at something. The news is starting to repeat everything from the previous hour. Nobody was around here, so I got my coffee and waited. Finally I decided to pop in and say hello.
Not a lot planned for this morning. Might start sewing strips together for another church quilt.
I finished up the school bags I was working on.
Maybe I should do a little dusting and sweeping around the house?? Sounds too much like work. LOL

Well, I better get my shower and get busy at something. Have a great day.
HUGS, 💕 Vel

We have finally settled on a date to go to the fiestaware factory and buy new dishes,,,We may try to take the factory tour if available to see how fiesta ware is made...we will go May 17th-19th its a short trip only 4 hours from home but we will stay at a casino near there and make it a mini trip..

Good morning!

Not much planned around here today. I will sew, maybe re-glue a antique chair back together and put away a few toys that are scattered in the Batt Cave. It was quite windy last night and Mother Nature decided that my nice clean windows needed a spot or two of raindrops. Fooled her, only did the inside of most of my windows. HA! Even though my house is a single story, because of a slope to the backyard, most of the windows are at a second story height from the ground. I can't do them easily. But any rain is good.

Michael worked in the yard and did knock down the grass and weeds around the barn. He is slowly being able to do a few things. Wears out quickly , with the lingering effects he still is dealing with.

So stay safe, sew, and do something fun! We all need that in our life!

Hugs,
Jana

Morning
Yesterday I got to go see my DGD school show. My DS1 & DDIL picked me up and when we got back to my house they cooked supper and cleaned up. Now for the frustrating part. Lisa spends most her day in special needs class, but sometime in 3rd grade. She was with the 3rd grade class and her aide was supposed to be with her helping her find her place and keeping her focused. Aide was no where to be found. She was at the school but not with Lisa. My poor baby looked scared and confused....my son is calling principal and may move her to next town school. Prayers for guidance please.
Rant over.
Joe home today.yay!

Vel - you have nothing planned and can do whatever you feel like. I can't wait for that to be me. And now it's dawning on me that I may not be able to afford my cleaning lady once I quit work. I don't know how I'll be able to do it with my arthritis - shoot, I can hardly walk or use my left arm. Hmmmm

Becca - you really did have a busy day yesterday. Gosh, I don't know if I have the energy to retire! Don't you just love it the first time the yard gets cleaned up and mowed every year?

Judi - I love my Fiestaware but I only have a couple of platters, coffee mugs, serving bowls and the salt and pepper shakers. Mine are the dark purple. A lot of people use a variety of colors which makes for a very festive table. I don't use them for plates and soup bowls, etc. because they are so heavy. Glad you had a nice dinner with your son and fam.

Jana - why can't Micheal do things? Has he been ill? What did I miss?

Flo - oh, no. I'm sure y'all were very anxious watching Lisa and wondering where the aide was. Sent up a prayer for guidance.

I'm at work so.....y'all have a great day.

Living room TV is hung on the wall. Best Buy geek guy was really good and fast. I unloaded the Jeep and we went to pick up head & foot boards for guest bed. Oops, boxes too big. So today our friends are going with us and we'll load their truck. Sure am glad they are only 30 miles away, they're between us and Austin.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good morning,

We are home from camping, resettled, and back in our comfy groove. When you don't pack much, it doesn't take long to unpack.

JUDI - Yay! A mini-trip! And a fun one, too! Will you get a room at the casino or take your fiver? Many casinos have RV parking - or even nice RV parks. Though, on second thought, you are probably still winterized? The Fiesta ware factory will be fun and the shopping even funner! So nice to see your son and fam last night. How old is River now?

VELDA - no projects? There is always May lotto. It really looks like a nice block. I'm working on Christmas gifts here.

BECCA- Denise is coming to visit! Hooray! And you've no chores for her to do! The poor thing. :D

LORI - What kind of pick-up do you have. And do you know what kind of trailer or fifth-wheel you would
like? Ours is a 2015 Dodge RAM 3500, single wheel. It pulls our 30', 13,000# fifth-wheel just fine.

LYN - oooh, a bad noise in the slide can't be a good thing. We've had slide 'issues' before, too, on past two RV's. I hope it's a minor thing. Glad your friends were able to help haul the bed home. What town did you go to for this?

JANA - In 30 years we've had 3 cars and 3 trucks, so we don't shop often for vehicles. But when we do Bill shops internet and we've found much better deals on-line than we can find locally. Both new & used. And quicker deals. We've flown to Colorado Springs and Chicago for trucks, and found a new car in NC. And he always gives dealers here the opportunity to match the price. Prices are much lower in the heartland than the west coast. Even adding in the expenses of the trips, we still saved money. Just sayin', if Matt needs a new or used vehicle now and is willing to travel, he might look on-line. Here, if you order a vehicle as he has done, you are not obligated to buy it until it comes and you approve it and sign the papers.

VAL - How is your BIL doing? good idea to sort your sis's things carefully. My hoarder friend here brought all her mother's things - a lot of furniture included, from FL 20 years ago - and still has it stored. And same when her uncle in Detroit passed - his stuff came back to WA and went in with her mother's. It's all still in storage and overwhelming.

SHARONA - I've heard of hybrid vehicles before but never like yours - half Ford and half Chevy. It must be a one of a kind. I was thinking your trip would be driving, but you are flying? When do you leave?

CINDY - when I was working, I never wanted to go home, either. It's different now that we're retired. And many people tell us our property is better than most campgrounds anyway, so Home is a good place to be here. Happy lunch today! Is your replacement starting on Monday?

MARYQ- Whaaat??! Your funds are dropping? How can that be?? I hope your financial guy had some answers for you. Find anything good while shopping at Joann's on your way home? :P

CHRISS - I think we all turn into our parents eventually! :) I know my mom lives in my mirror. I'm happy to have her there. I have been walking every morning for about 25 yrs. The earlier the better. As soon as it's light is my preference. At least 10 states have a town called Raymond. Our Raymond is about 3,000 people. It has a Safeway, a giant Ace Hardware, a thrift shop, a lumber mill, and a tavern that serves the best burgers I've ever eaten, but no quilt shop.

FLO- I hope your son can get things squared away at Lisa's school. Maybe the aide had a good excuse for being away from her.

Today's to-do list here includes vacuum & mop trailer, clean pollen off our deck and repair planters of flowers that the ding dang squirrels dug up while we were gone, and make and attach a label for Drew's Wooded Whimsy quilt. I put the binding on it yesterday afternoon after we got home from camping. I also got the label attached to my DWR for Autumn and Antonio and Bill took it to the post office. I might get some yard work done, I might start on my Buckeye Beauty, I might make a couple of May lotto blocks, and I might finish a book. There is no end to fun activities around here. I've also decided I want to make a king quilt for my younger sis for Christmas. But if I finish it before August, I can get my older sis, who is visiting here in Aug with her fifth-wheel trailer, to take it back to CO for me so I don't have to pay for postage. Now to decide on pattern and fabrics . . .

Make it a good day!

Good morning!

Maryz - sorry I am not a car person. I had to ask DH - it is a chevy. Our van is a GMC - and the dash board is almost identical to the pickup. Supposedly they are the same company. I don't know! And we do have a hybrid - a Lexus 400H. Same year as the others. And that's all I know about cars.

As Becca would say - it was a rough night last night. I woke up around 11 and couldn't breathe through my nose. Finally abated about 3:30 after many sprays of saline and sitting with my head as close to the humidifier as I could get. Blah! So I'm not sure what today's plans are. Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona

Good Morning Girls

Happy Friday Everyone.... Ready for the weekend?

Velda.... Dusting and Sweeping? Oh No.. not that! Though I was walking by my dresser the other day and the light hit it just right and I could see the dust bunnies making a new home on it! But I can't carve my name it in yet, so I figure I have a little more time before I have to get out the Pledge... .and sewing is much more fun!

Becca.... You must be one of those people that doesn't sit still either! I have to admit it feels good to get so much done. Rarely happens around here   You clean your house before your DD gets there? If I did that, my kids would think they were in the wrong house!

Judi... You're only 4 hours from the Fiest Factory!!!??? Take with you! I love Fiesta-ware! I broke a couple plates and need new ones! The older I get tho, those dishes are getting heavier and heavier! I've heard that old t-shirts make good window rags... I just cut up a bunch of t-shirts for the quilt I'm making.. maybe I'll save some of those pieces and try it! Usually I'm a paper-towel gal!

Jana.... Good to hear Michael is able to get outside and do a few things... tho he tires quickly I bet the fresh air feels good. I'm normally not a real outside person, but after this really wet cold spring I'm anxious to be OUT!

Flo... Oh Gosh, I wonder what happened to Lisa's aide!? Poor kid... that's the worst feeling to think of our kids being scared! It just hurts my heart! Hopefully the Principal has a good explanation!

Cindy....Oh gosh, I never would have guessed you'd have PURPLE dishes !   Remember, I've seen your house.!! I have 2 navy blue, 2 white, 2 light blue and 2 yellow. And a few accessory pieces too. But with only me here, I rarely use them! This is the LAST APRIL you will see at work!!!!

Maryz .... The financial guy tells me there's no need to panic. I can still live until about 88 before I run out of money and have to go "on the dole"  He explained a lot to me about inflation and recession and how the Fed works with money etc and it's mostly over my head. But as long as I can buy a few yards of fabric once in a while.. I'm not going to worry! I was a good girl at Joann and only went in to get some more Pellon.. and a couple of those really nice Art Bins.. on sale for $20... can't beat that price! Any word on final destination of the A & A wedding?

Sharon... I don't know much about cars either, but GMC and Chevy are the same and Ford and Lincoln are the same, Doge and Plymouth are the same... tho I can't say I've seen many "Plymouths" around lately. I just know where to put the gas in and that's about it... oh and windshield washer goop. Hope you have a better day today than your night was! Do you have allergies that mess up your breathing?

Not sure I'll get much done around the house today... didn't yesterday either. Today I am going to go help a gal sort and organize her fabric. She posted a thing on FB in a "selling group" that she needs help and since she just lives right near where I used to work, I thought I'd go volunteer. She's in wheel chair in an assisted living center. Since I do love to "fondle fabric" I thought it would something I could do to help a fellow quilter in need!

So, need to go put face on etc and get in gear!

See you all tomorrow!
