Good morning, the I can't sleep bug hit me this morning.
It was good to talk with Kathy yesterday, I hope you can find time to call her, she really wants visitors but can't have them because of Covid. She's kind of isolated, it made me realize that everyone in hospitals or other care facilities are isolated too. and our hospitals and care facilities are over full. So many alone people out there could use encouragement.
Great news here. My son got the job with Hartnell College in Salinas. He will be creating lesson plans for something I don't completely understand but it has to do with farming and technology that knows when to water a specific spot on the farm and such. My DIL also got a new job working for the state agriculture department in the produce safety department, she has no office as it is a work from home and travel situation so she can live anywhere. For my son the college job is work form home and starts next week. He still has the high school teaching job which will end in June so for 5 months he is doubly employed.
Lois, when I was younger I used to help my grandpa butcher animals. Deer, sheep, cows, even chickens. I was his favorite. Hope the kids dryer got fixed and the doctor appointment went well
Suzette, well? did the backing for the dog quilt get there? is it perfect?
Judi, thanks for giving me Kathy's address. Not sure why I didn't think of googling her earlier. She doesn't have anything with her to log on here. No computer or cell phone. So glad you are able to get some things put away in that soon to be beautiful basement.
Maryz, are we home yet? How much longer? Please ask Bill those questions in my most whiniest voice. Prayers for safe travels. My table runner will be cute, but did you see Lois's, hers is gorgeous. The website where the runner is has a FB page, lots of pictures.
Sue, I remember Quilterbee Aimee, I love noodles but don't remember her swaps, must have been before my time. I googled Winston Ways, it's beautiful, can't wait to see a picture. Was the carrot cake wonderful? did it have raisins and nuts? and cream cheese frosting? My diet doesn't allow cake, but carrot cake is my favorite. My goodness, I just read you also made a lemon pie. you are so bad for my diet.
Carole (with an E) glad you got your virus vaccine. Jerry and I got tested yesterday. 2020 was a booger of a year, 2021 has just got to be better. I enjoy seeing pictures of your daughter and the grown up kids on your FB page. I am still so proud of your daughter and admire her strength. I wish I had a mom like you both when I was growing up and now. You are pretty special, Chriss ( no Y)
Katy, always good to get rid of a mouse, yay for Scooby. Men can never find anything, not even a cat flying across the kitchen floor. Hope he is doing better, did they ever find out what caused his seizure? I'm curious, did he lose his house and have to move in with you?
Sharona, prayers for your cousin. Had I known you were going to Walmart I would have given you my list.
Diane, glad the foot is healing. Hope Easter travel happens and this virus doesn't pose a problem.
Jana, I laughed when you said Ethan convinced grandpa to run the train one more day, I wonder how many more "one more day's" Ethan can get out of grandpa. glad Sarah is doing better.
Maryq, I wish I had been here earlier to take advantage of the noodle swaps, although I probably didn't have a clue as to what to do with a noodle back then. Now I would make jelly roll race quilts. so quick and easy and a great way to use up fabric. Like you I cut scraps into 2 1/2 inch strips or charms and 5 inch charms. anything smaller is just too small. We have a Costco card but don't really shop there much. When I was working in town I would stop there before work at 6am and get gas. It was safe and quick in the morning. Not sure when I will commute again, hopefully not any time soon.
Lori, sorry you are funky. I pray your heart heals soon. hugs to you my friend. xo
Sherry, what do you put in your fruitcake? Happy birthday to your son.
Velda, what a great quilt, your granddaughter will love it. For me a lap quilt has to be long enough to tuck under my neck and hang over my feet and wide enough to go across my lap and tuck under my tush.
Valerie, hope your dad's back trouble is short lived. what fun to be at the LQS sorting fabric. I bet you saw lots of pretty things.
Flo, sounds like that house will be move in ready very soon. yay.
I believe I am all caught up. didn't realize I missed so many days here. Please consider calling Kathy a few times, she really could use some day brighteners.
you girls take care and stay healthy.
Chriss
