Good morning

Looks like several of us had children or grandchildren with birthdays this week. My Autumn was 44 which astounds me but my Lara will be 49 in a few weeks. Where do these years go??

Today’s another travel day for us and we will make it into Oregon. The Siskiyous look clear and we are headed for seven feathers, a Beautiful Indian casino 100 miles over the Oregon California border in the town of Canyonville ( so Mary Q can find us! ). Actually, this will be our last night traveling. After tonight we are going to camp for three nights at the ocean on the Washington coast and go home Saturday morning

I’ve been wondering something for a long time and I’m curious what you all say. Someone mentioned working on a lap quilt. To me, a lap quilt is small, fits over the lap of someone sitting in the chair. Next size up ( in my mind) is crib or baby quilt. Then throw, twin, full, Queen, King. Dimensions vary somewhat but what do you think of as a lap quilt?

It’s a shortie today - coffee is done perking and water is hot for showers so I have things to do. TTYL!

Passed electric and plumbing inspection yesterday. Dry wall guys come in on Thursday i think. Joe is beyond sore and tired..
Maryz, glad you ate almost home. Beach camping is very restful. Enjoy your days.

good morning,,,28 and cloudy...I have all the Christmas bins up stairs in the spare room ( kens old office) so they are going to the storage room. ( or as many as I can move.) I cleaned and purged and still have things to go, I never did get to sew yesterday. maybe later...
Flo I hear you about the sore and tired.
Maryz woohoo 3 days att he beach,,,,,I am green with envy,,,safe travels.
Well I need coffee. No word any further on kathy,,,XXXXXXXXOOOOOOOO
PS Laps in the smallest quilt...Being we are not small, lap quilts( in my opinion) are for kids to nap with or chair sitting, a throw might be a bit bigger for bigger people naps,.

Good Morning
I've been up early grating carrots to make DDIL a birthday cake. She turns 46 today and is a second grade teacher soooo we need a cake to celebrate,

Maryz~ to me lap size quilt is the same as a throw...... most of my quilts are bed size. Can't be bothered with much smaller.

Still frosty here this morning, but should warm up later. I need to rake some leaves that never seem to end!

Judi~ I've been painting closets in this place, some crazy angles in them. I like to paint, however.

Gotta run, always in a hurry around here.

Good morning to all.
Tomorrow have appt. to see doctor. He'll check and change packing on my foot. Not to bad staying with foot up to prevent swelling. Hobbling from bathroom to living room to bedroom. All very slowly. Fingers crossed for no problems. I hear my "Miss Cutie" calling me from my sewing room but can't go in there for now.
Safe travels for those on the road.
I'll check back later to catch up.

Good Morning everyone. Maryz, safe travels as you make your way home.
Quilt size in all catagories is so debatable! I also think of lap quilt and throw in about the same catagory. However, I suppose lap could be much smaller. I always have trouble with sizing between full and queen as well. The quilt I am making now for our granddaughter's graduation quilt is a perfect example. I had to adjust the pattern I was using to make it larger. I redrew the pattern out on paper adding enough rows, etc. When I measured it, it came to: 82" x 88". This was supposed to be a full size quilt. It ended up oversized, so I decided that I dare not add any borders, or I would have ended up with a giant size quilt. L O L.

One of these days I will get a picture posted.
I think I already shared that I am tying this one rather than do standard quilting.

Great to read all the posts. I am terrible about getting replies typed to each of you.

Wishing everyone another happy sewing day.

Hugs
Vel

Good morning all.

MIA the last few days. Trying to stop in before the caregiver gets here. Once she is here, oh my can she talk. Then I can't focus. Even if I walk out of the room she will keep talking.

Went to LQS shop yesterday and we sorted scraps and cut into large tumblers for community quilts. She has many totes of left over fabrics that they use. We deleted several of them. Sent a box of fabric off to a women to uses it to create art projects for kids, some to the pile for dog beds. We are left with 2 totes to cut into more tumblers, 1 tote to cut into strips and charms, one for backing and one for borders. So made lots of progress. Today I will go for open sew. Got to pick my spot before I went home yesterday so don't have to worry about getting there first! I was the only one who signed up again.

Dad is now starting to admit that he has back pain. Not sure if that is contributing to his incontinence but also need to get a note off to the physician. I think I want to start giving him an extra strength Tylenol in the AM and one a night. I believe it is arthritis.

Mary I think you will be happy to be home. Sounds like you have had quite the trip. I will be planning some these when I retire!

To me a lap quilt fits over your lap while you are watching TV or something like that. Just a tad bigger than a crib. Although the last lap quilt pattern I followed came out to be close to a twin.

No rain so far so chilly for us. It is 46 right now and will get to 58 ish. I think later in the week close to 70 or a bit beyond. We are in the no rain mode again so drought continues.

Anyway lots to do and 39 min to do it in.
A Friend is God's way of making sure we never walk alone!

Good morning!

Maryz – to me a lap quilt is like 45 x 45 – three 12” across the top and three down. Plus that’s what fits on my quilting frame unless I want to add the other section and make it 10’. Happy shortie day.

Flo – glad to hear those inspections are done. My DH is also 6’4 (used to be 6’5!)

Judi – you deserve a day off after all that work.

Lois – it’s so nice of you to do their wash. Hope you get to work on your quilt today.

Sue – wonky angles in closets? That would be interesting.

Diane – I’m so glad your foot is doing well.

Vel – holy cow that is a big quilt! Can’t wait to see pictures.

Valerie – how wonderful to get to spend so much time touching fabric. I’m sorry that your dad’s back is causing him pain. We’re also having drought here – last year was the 8th driest year we’ve had.

Getting ready to head to Costco – after that I have lots of computer work to do so no quilting today. :( Have a glorious day! xoxo Sharona
