A way to pass on our story of being in this worldwide pandemic
Sarah and I were talking on the phone today and I mentioned Maryz's idea of when we are able to go and do from our Stay Safe Stay Home, time, that she was going to make a Crazy Quilt. So Sarah quickly came up with this idea.
We are home, making masks, and whatevers, that we take those leftover scraps and make say, a 5" block, one each day. Set it aside, so when these days are over, we have a stack of blocks to make into a top, that we can tell our stories of these days to our families. Many of us have fancy stitches on our sewing machines, we could incorporate those on these blocks - a practice in using them. Any thing goes - thread color, patterns, fabrics - have some fun in creativity! You can do it!
Later we can do a show and tell here.

Awesome Idea!
It will make a great quilt to work on later and be able to say
"OH I masks for "so and so" out of this fabric!"
I've lost track of how many masks I've made, but tomorrow I'll grab some left over pieces and cut them into 5" squares so I'll be ready!

Brought this back up, so you could see it.
Call these blocks your sanity quilt, or your Bat Crazy quilt, your Stir Crazy quilt, your 4 walls quilt, whatever you want! Make each block as simple or crazy as we are! Piece together any scraps to make a block, then crazy-ify it. Michael suggested calling it "the adversity" quilt. I have one of those from many years ago, when our family lost loved ones in the same year.

My first quilt memory is of a crazy quilt. I was about 3 yrs old and would lay across my parents' bed and pet all the different fabrics, laces, ribbons, and stitching on Mom's crazy quilt. I loved all the textures, especially one particular piece of brown velvet. Ever since, crazy quilts have fascinated me. And it's always been on my bucket list - but no more! I have seven 5" blocks sewn already! But today, I'm back to masks - got to make more scraps!
