Saturday, March 29

Post by suzette58 » Sat Mar 29, 2014 12:03 am

Good morning everyone.
Yesterday was a lot of fun. It was funny, when you are around new people you end up buying fabrics you normally wouldn't. The fabric I bought will be for hubby's nephew's baby. The thought just hit me. Anyway. Today is one of our niece's birthday. So we are going to that. I am finishing up the binding and label for the braid quilt. I have a question. The label is going to be a copy of the wedding invitation. I want to make a border of the color she had in their wedding. I was going to use the ribbon that was on the invitation but thought it wouldn't wash well. Then I bought grosgrain ribbon. Do you think the grosgrain will work or should I use fabric in the color I want? Let me know what you think. Have a great day.

Morning girls

Suze - glad you had a nice time yesterday and wish you a lovely time today at your nieces birthday....not sure about the ribbon, to be on the safe side I'd probably use fabric :)

Lois - have a lovely sewing weekend :)

Today I'm hoping to sew and tidy my studio, a friend who does my nails wants to come for a quilting lesson on monday so I need to make some space for her. I was hoping to finish a mohair teddy bear I'm making today but I'm waiting for the safety joints to arrive, can't go any further until I fix them in, then's the fun part, stuffing :)

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend :)

Good morning all! Just a quick stop in. Got to get my bag packed so I can leave for my son's in an hour. We are supposed to get some flurries today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and gets to do some sewing.

Prayers for all who need them.

Happy Saturday, everyone.

Just sipping my coffee and enjoying reading all the posts. Not much planned for today. These are our last two days in Texas. Heading north on Monday AM. We are taking our time traveling back, so I will probably get on my laptop in the evening each day. That way, I can keep up with all the happenings.

Enjoy your weekend.

Good Morning!

SUZETTE - happy you had a great lunch yesterday and a fun time at the LQS. I now have to look up "Toes in the Sand". If I were using ribbon for a label border, I think gros grain would be more enduring than regular ribbon, but I would make sure it was colorfast and pre-shrunk first. Also, does the color coordinate with the quilt?

LOIS - whatcha' gonna be sewing today?

JULES - just don't clean that sewing room too much! I love a 'sewed-in' look in my sewing room. If it's too clean, I don't want to mess it up by sewing! Hope the lesson goes well.

SHERRY - have fun at your son's! I love being with my son. Hope the flurries amount to nothing!

VELDA - happy last two days! There's always so much to re-stow, rearrange, and simply to fit in after you've been spread out for a long time. What route are you traveling north? I understand "35" goes right to Mary Q's house!

CHRISS - so you're going to sew like a crazy woman today? How does a crazy woman sew? And if you're not sewing, what will you be doing?

BECCA - why is it on sleepless nights, we finally fall sound asleep just before it's time to get up?!

I have most everything from the trailer in the house and put away. I also washed fabric I bought at various places this winter and yesterday at my own LQS (all 40% off). I sorted all sewing I took with me and re-stashed it (haha! re-STASHED it! I think I made a pun!)I found my blocks from the calendar swap last fall, squared them up and cut the sashing. Today, I hope to put that calendar quilt together, wash trailer bedding, and enjoy the day! Maybe go see my brother, Jim. And Warren and Lois.

Hope y'all have a super weekend!

Slept good, plan to stay home, wind snow predicted, and suppose to laundry, starting reading qlt show notes, went online check if still had in budget, have to make decision between laundry, and return brief to show.. Hmm! Show every 2yrs. laundry??

Heading off to my room change again, into my business attire. A shame not to go, after all it is organized by very hard working people.

Be more relaxed and just soak it all in.. More pict to share..

MaryZ - the color does not blend with the quilt. The quilt is blues and browns. The ribbon is red. It was one of the colors in their wedding. Since the label is on the back I figured it wouldn't matter. I may just use the red fabric idea.

Becca - I am thinking red fabric would be better. I am not sure how the ribbon would work.

Thanks for the ideas.

Good morning! I'm off to do my running today... Will meet my friend and show her how to cut/sew her blocks from the strip sets she has made this week. I'll have lunch with Mom and take her the few pieces of shrimp we had left from dinner last night. It will be enough to go on a salad for dinner. I'm also taking her some red beans and rice and some broccoli. Then... groceries. I don't need much as I went on Monday--just the fresh produce.

Yesterday we worked outside in the wind and chill, and I'm not sure I made it here. Oops! Winter was hard on some of my flowers, and I know they didn't survive. I'm going to plant a wildflower bed, and we worked up the ground for it. Everything said to wait until frost danger has passed... April 15.

Scrap/Lea--I like your choice. Laundry will wait. The quilt show is only every two years! Have fun. I saw one of your pictures last night--the arty one and loved it! Thank you for being our eyes at the show!

Have a great day! I need to get my face on and make tracks out the door... Please remember Vicky and her family in your prayers.
