Friday February 21 2014

Post by fabricgirl » Thu Feb 20, 2014 10:53 pm

Good Morning Everyone,

Today is Friday and I'm off and it will probably be the last one I have off for quite a while so I will be doing some cleaning .

I went to Joanns yesterday for backing for my hunter star baby quilt that I posted in photos but they had nothing and nothing that I wanted to pay 8 or 9 dollars a yard for so I left with nothing I guess I will have to wait and when I go to Lancaster I am sure I will find something then I don't have a problem with the price I have with the quality.

Jules I just LOVE the tattoo its a work of art.

Good morning Lois and those that follow.
I am like Lois and am off today. Hubby has a blood check for his Lukemia and then I have radiation this afternoon. I am heading towards the end of my treatment. They are now concentrating the radiation where the cells were. Today after hubby's appointment I am going to meet a friend for lunch and then my treatment. Hopefully I will have time to sew. Have a great day.

$9.00 for fabric your prices are better than here. Store Fabricland is equivalent to your Joannes and they sell least $15.00 and up.. Even the clearance ctr is $6.00a yard.. Then, they push a membership fee $35.00 to entice to buy more..

Back to cold temperature, have my trip planned for the day from door to door errunds. Next week be vltr for guild at booth selling tickets in a beautiful HYDRO building, all marble floors, maybe could find an electrician, about to collect pension. Wear my pretty dress.

Morning girls

Lois - I hope you don't spend the whole day cleaaning, sorry you couldn't get your backing fabric, hope you're luckier in Lancaster....when do you go???

well I'm spending the day in my studio, working on and hopefully finishing my birdhouse blocks.....and check the ones I have done.....I was trying to do a bit of sewing the last few weeks but I'm not sure I had my proper sewing head on, so I will be checking for mistakes and redoing them if need be :)

Wishing you all a wondeful day, lots of love and prayers xxx

Jules - I found your tattoo picture. I love it. Very pretty.

Scrapquilter - the price of fabric has made me really work from my stash. Unless I feel the need for a shopping spree. But, it does not happen as often as it used to.

It's going to be warm and rain here all day. We will flood if the sub-pump doesn't work all day. The foot of snow plus rain is going to be pretty tough on areas just east of us too. The river may break today, I would love to be right there at the right moment to see that.

Today is the last day of the flagyl and I'm hoping then I'll start feeling much better.
Tomorrow is Emily's recital and she is a bundle of nerves right now. I'm sure she will do just fine.

I hope you all have a good day,
Vicky

Good Morning,

LOIS - when you start your new job, will it be full-time? What will you be doing? I agree about Joann's prices and fabrics. I won't pay their full price either. Hope you don't spend ALL day doing uglies!

SUZ - I hope your DH's tests are all good. Enjoy your lunch. You sure deserve it! So happy to hear you are on the downhill side of your treatments!

LEAH - so sorry about your fabric prices! I bet you REALLY watch for sales! $15/yd is outrageous! Good luck at Guild! ;)

JULES - it's probably a good idea to go over what you've done the past few weeks. But even if you made unfixable errors - which we all know YOU wouldn't do - you needed the therapy and the fabric will have done it's work. LOVE your tatoo! So artistic! Did you design it yourself?

VICKY - glad you are warming up. Hope you don't flood. And a big YAY on finishing up your flagyl! Good luck to Emily!

I have good news to report. In case you lost your score card, two of my three brothers have been pretty sick for a long time. Albert, my middle brother, has been fighting bladder cancer for a year. Yesterday, after his second round of treatment, all his biopsies came back negative! our family is ecstatic. Now we're waiting Jim's doctors to make his appointments for test. His pneumonia is improving but with his Parkinson's he's still pretty sick. The doctors at home believe he does not have cancer but still want to do a few more tests. to make doubly sure. But he's much better than he was.

And I discovered a great sewing tip yesterday. I don't know why I didn't think of it before. After arranging the blocks for my sister's retirement quilt I didn't want to lose their position in the quilt. Usually I end up taking photos for reference, or pinning notes to the blocks. Duh! This time I used a Frixion pen!! I just wrote on the blocks and when I had the top together, I ironed off the marks. So simple and so effective!

Today, I'm getting my poor neglected Dear Jane out. She needs sunlight and oxygen. Going to get pretty crazy around here from now on! The alcohol consumption may have to go up.

Have a 'sewper' day!

Good morning.. it's supposed to warm up before we get rain next week... I think mother nature is going through menopause.

Maryq.. 40 days to find an apt seems like a long time till it flies by... stay strong... I played with my red fabric last night...I'm loving it...

Cindy, you sure make a lot of totes.. I usually get free cheapie ones and stack them in my sewing room because I might need them some day.. I am a "reusable" tote hoarder...

Jules, glad the service went well.. I saw the Elvis art on facebook, it really is very cool.. I think Ross and Charley like you... you should keep them...

Lyn, keep us posted.

Chickie..the rentals seem to consume quite a bit of time...you had a lot of wind yesterday, is it all died down?

Jana, hope the kitchen gets all worked out...

Sherry, glad you got the doctor things taken care of for both you and Pepper...

Kathy, I'm sorry you were cranky over WW location.. hope you found out where they were hiding it.. also glad the desk worked.

Diana, hope the pharmacy stuff goes through quickly for DH... amazing that we live in this hi tech time and things still get messed up...glad DGS lives only 15 minutes away..

Izzy, great fabric.. you made out quite well.

Judi, enjoy your sister time, what fun for both of you..

Leah, bet all that baking makes it smell great at your house.

Lois.. Connecting threads recently had their backing fabric on sale.. not sure if they still do but they may have something you like.

Suzette, enjoy lunch.. hope the appts for you and DH are quick.

Jules.. you have a sewing head???? wow, I need to get me one of those...lol...I am sure your birdhouses will be fine...

Vicky, are your going to celebrate your last day of flaygl? maybe confetti is in order.. hope you feel better too.

Maryz.. glad things are improving for your brothers.. great tip about the pen.. I usually just pin my blocks together then mix them all up and sew them wrong anyway.. it's a tradition...so Jane is coming out of her box... scary thought...

it's friday.. I tried cleaning my sewing machine last weekend and it's not really happy... the shuttlecock thingy is cracked and I think I will just take it in to be fixed and serviced.. I can use my Kenmore piece of junk till it gets all fixed... but wouldn't it be wonderful if it were cheaper to buy a new machine rather than fix the old one... fingers crossed...

you all have a fun day
