Good morning.
It is cold here this morning. We are being warned to watch for the black ice. I guess I better leave a little early so I can take my time. I don't have to work all day which is good. Today is my radiologist appointment. Yesterday I got out to my studio and enjoyed myself. I finished squaring up the Christmas block swap blocks and even got the sashing and cornerstone fabric cut. Have a wonderful day.

Good morning everyone.
Suz be careful on those icy roads.
Lois sounds like you will be a busy bee in the kitchen with those cookies. yum.
I need your help. What stitch do you use to sew down the binding of your quilt by hand?
It's time to get out of here and on the road to work. Everyone have a blessed day.

Lois how is your leg coming? Will you be able to get back in the gym anytime soon?
Suzette- drive very careful. Black ice is scary.
Mary I think it's called the blind stitch. At any rate you can't see my stitches they run though the fold on the binding out to "bite" the quilt back and then back in the fold.
Shannon and I didn't end up sewing on the wall hanging yesterday. We visited the chiropractor together, went shopping and then out to lunch at my favorite place, Panera. I got the Broccoli and Cheddar soup and a Caesar Salad. Yum.
I have to get going and pick up the house a little before my grandbabies come this morning
Keep looking up,
Vicky

SUZ - stay safe on those roads when you go out. Looking forward to seeing your Christmas quilt!
LOIS - Mmmmmmm..... What kinds of cookies are you making?
MARY/ROSE - When I hand stitch down a binding, I use the same stitch as Vicky, only I call it a slip stitch. About 1/8" or a little bit bigger.
VICKY - I love Panera's broccili cheese soup, too.
Today we'll get our last load of wood rounds, clean up the leftover debris/branches, and rake the area clean. Then load up Scout the Tractor and bring him home. Thank goodness we have access to a splitter. Scottie was so funny last night. Seems every show we watched on TV had barking dogs. So he sat and woofed at the TV screen all evening. Then he started barking at the little 3' fiberoptic tree we have in the family room. We had the lights down low and the changing colors made it seem like movement. We finally had to turn it off! We should have named him Goofy!
Have a sewper day!

Be safe out there on the roads, for all of you. Sure, we have a really big cold spell here in South Texas, but we need to remember how bad it is for all the other states dealing with ice and snow. I have vowed NOT to complain.
Maryz: How cute Scottie is to "woof" at the dogs on TV. Willy pays no attention. He won't even look at the TV when we try to draw his attention to it. Dog TV would do him NO GOOD!!! LOL
I need to take another picture to send you, Mary. I already made something special with the fabric you sent me. Lyn has been asking me how I get all these things done so quickly. LOL
We have been using terry towels on the seats of our new recliners as they are leather and didn't want Willy's claws scratching the seat when he jumps in and out. The terry towels never stay put. Never fit just right. I hated them.
So with the fabric you gave me with the fish on it, I started getting some ideas. I took my measurements and went to work making up some quilted chair pads that fit JUST RIGHT. I love the way they look. Again, if you had not sent me that fabric, the inspiration wouldn't have happened.
You have turned into a really magical Secret Santa this year, haven't you???
You are so appreciated, words just can not express. Hugs and wishes for a special Merry Christmas to you and your family.
For all the rest of my friends, sorry to ramble on, but I am just so appreciating all my Secret Santa gifts. I hope you all are safe out there going and coming to work and appointments and shopping.
Good luck on finishing up all your Christmas projects. Have a special sewing day.

Good morning.. happy cold wednesday...today I do my grandmothers shopping after work
I am looking for a step stool that also is a tool box.. you store your tools or supplies in the stool part and when you close the lid you can stand on it... I am going Saturday to find one.. shopping all by myself..
Tracy, I am sorry for the loss of your parents.. it does seem that life can go on for everyone around you while you are in a time warp taking care of them then their business... when my son was about 4 my grandma died.. he told me that people in our life die so they can be guardian angels... I think Avery has two new guardian angels... God Bless you....
Maryz.. I am going to check out that chicken.. Craisins are my new drug of choice.. gosh I love them...not sure Cindyg will be there to split wood.. I think she'd rather do hexi's than chop wood...lol
Carole, sorry the kids won't be coming for Christmas but thrilled they are with their mom...
Cindy, I am with you on the costs of mailing things.. $7 for a hat is a bunch of Hooey...I have been lucky enough to get free shipping so far this year...I know your 5 year old DGD can figure out your phone and electronics but, if the power were to go out you could still operate candles and write a letter..just like in the old days.
Tina... you smooch that Easton on both of those precious cheeks for me.. gosh, what a huggable kid...
Izzy, I am doing the El mystery BOM too... Jerry bought it for me for Christmas...I still can't find the celtic one... sorry there is so much excitement around your place..
Chickie, Jerry makes a fruit cake and puts it in those small loaf pans..it is good in moderation...what fun to be Odie and TB running at full throttle.
Suzette, have a safe trip to work, happy radiologist appt.
Lois, happy shopping and baking
MaryRose, Cindyg once told me to try the blind hem stitch and every since it has been my binding by hand stitch.. it works perfectly for me.
Vicky, I would love some broccoli cheddar soup, can I go next time?
Maryz.. first the fake looking ceramic cat now the fiber optic tree.. Scottie is sure protecting you from stuff.. rub his belly for me.
Velda, I am having fun hearing about your secret Santa fun.....
Judi, glad you're washing those sheets finally.. lol...
hope you all have a super duper day

Wow, there is so much going on!!!
Izzy - wow, gal after my own heart!! I love the country, but we are suburban here. Where we were in Iowa was fairly remote, 15 miles to the nearest grocery store. We did have the Co-op for gas, if you had one of their accounts.
I'm off this afternoon to Mom-sit (she finally says that), and also tomorrow evening - she asked for me to come over and "babysit" her, and that's a first... I call it "Mom-sit", and I don't tell her what to do, I'm just there to try to make sure she doesn't fall, get her drinks, and I like being able to spend time with her, before she passes. This last Thanksgiving was hard on her, she had family "surprise" her by visiting and also non-family there for a week...non-family that think they *are* family.....I'm not going there, it is very frustrating for me. But, it's my parents house, and they need to be able to tell people they can't handle the high-maintenance at this time and they need to cut the visit short, and family (sibs) need to know - no more surprises. I'm not participating there any more, they need to know so they can plan things and reserve energy for the visits.
Have a great day!!!
