Good morning pals
OMGosh is time still flying and gets away from me and then I am playing catchup. I hope you all remembered to turn your clocks back. I can use the extra hour of sleep :) The last few days have been busy with a number of Fun times. The Church's Newsletter took just a bit longer as I had to remind several times and then wait for articles. Got together with Jamie to help Cindy sandwich her quilt, help Jamie square up 120 4.75" 9-patches, help Kathleen learn the QIAD way of making Flying Geese. I started to sew my November Lotto blocks (Picture posted on the Lotto thread) together but forgot the triangle sq ruler so came home early. Finished sewing 50 of the Braids blocks today while Donna was working on sewing her Flannel Rag Quilt together. Very Heavy!!!
Today will be sewing the other 50 together and then mulling over ideas for 10" borders.
I thought I saw a picture of a quilt with diagonal borders that a Pal made but I can't seem to find it. Does anyone know/remember seeing it?
I just saw a show about High 5 Pie in the Capital Hill district of Seattle. Anyone been there or done that. So many ways to have your Pie! There exclusive is the Marionberry Pie which is the cross between a blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. Sounds yummy!!!

Shirley Mae - I so wish I lived closer and could help you anyway I was able. I know sending cyber HUGS won't help you physically but I hope it warms your heart.

Tina - Any baby yet?

Maryq - How was your birthday dinner?

Houston Quilt Show Pals - HOW IT IS!!!! My world is jumping up and down.

Jana - Any updated pics of the kids and your quilting room? I love it when binding is done - WooHoo party time!!!

Womster - I love The Big Bang. Not very many comedy's that Rob likes but I am glad this is one of them.

Chrissy - Always prayers for you and your family.

Maryz - I love the pics of Scottie. He looks so comfortable on the back seat window.

Kathy - Hope you got all the uglies done and can enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Izzy - Love your sewing room. Sew retreat with Sharon? GO FOR IT!!

SharonKL - Hope you found your rotary cutter and the extra blades. If not I can share mine with you :)

My hands are getting sloppy now so I apologize for missing many. HUGE HUGS and BLESSINGS always sent to you along with soem CA Sunshine!!!

Hi Teresa and all who follow, Thanks for the offer to help me pack. Just the hugs and prayers of so many has certainly warmed my heart. I have been very touched by all your kind words and thoughts.

I am feeling some better tho. I stopped taking the pills, they were making me so sick and I had horrible nightmares and woke up screaming several times.

I knew you all were praying for me and I suddenly had renewed strength and hope that the end is in sight for packing. Rod started picking things over and we packed lots of boxes today. Please keep us in your prayers for the next few wks. Will alert you all when we are ready to travel, hopefully Nov 12th. First stop, sister in Albq.

Smiled at the ones who wanted to take out my Son in law. I keep telling myself, only a few more days to put up with this. He has been very obnoxious ever since we decided to move. Sorry he is losing his free baby sitter and lots of free smoked ribs, bbq meals, etc.

I will really miss little Jakey tho. But he is getting so big now and not as huggable or needy as he used to be. 6 yo boys are too busy for gramma's lap but he still blows me kisses when he gets in the car to leave. Plan to spend lots of time on phone with him.

DD is not saying much about it all but not helping either. They didn't help us move in here either. We had Jakey here the next day, (babysitting) and he was only 4 1/2 at the time. He helped us move in. We had to take everything out of the motorhome and move into the house. That little guy was going up and down the steps and he was really short then.

I finally started setting things down on the steps so he only had to pick up and carry them into the garage. He carried books, kettles, clothes, etc one by one if he couldn't lift much but he helped me for hrs. Rod was very sick that first day and we only had 3 days to move our motorhome. God bless our little DGKs. They seem to understand more than adults sometimes and try so hard to help.

I so enjoy seeing all the quilts and things you are doing these days. Can't wait to get moved somewhere so I can drag it all back out and start sewing again. Tossed a lot but kept some too. Hope to teach my 2 DGDs how to quilt. They are in 20's now and my DDIL wants to quilt too so MO will be a good thing for all of us. And she loves quilt and craft shows. Lots coming up in Midwest too.

Need to go to bed. Tired tonight but a good tired. Got so much done today. I laid down on bed about 7 just to get off my feet for a few min and Rod woke me up at 9 and told me to get jammies on and go to bed. I am back up for now but it is 11 so better close my eyes quick.

May God bless you all in some special way today and always. Prayers for all the sick, those going thru some kind of treatments or surgery, others in need in various way and just everyone of you El's Angels. Thanks for being you and being there for me, actually all of us. You will never know what it means to know so many folks care that have never met you until you are sick or have problems.

Sending love and hugs your way today. Shirley Mae

Oh Teresa, AZ doesn't turn its clocks back. We just jump into a diff time zone and hope we can figure out where everyone else is that we call long distance. I have been known to wake up a few folks late at night because I figured the wrong time zone. LOL

Bless you all, sleep in, and have a wonderful Sunday filled with love, and memories, and maybe even some sewing tossed in too.

Hugs, Shirley Mae

Edited to add. Teresa are you talking about the Seminole borders?

IttyBitty - No not a seminole border. The strips were sewn on a 45* angle. Wish I could find it :) So glad to hear you stopped the meds that were sending you through the roof. I hate it when I get a Dr. that is still practicing (guessing) what will work. They try so hard though.
Sorry to hear your SIL is not handling you leaving very well. I know he will miss you - How can he not - you are so sweet!!! Hope you can skype with Jake. He is going to miss all those cuddles.

Boy you guys have been busy already!
I am trying to decide what to do for Secret Santa table decoration. I have one thing in mind so I guess that is what I will do. Hope she likes it. I got all my uglies done yesterday so today I can work in my studio. I do have to make a loaf of bread but I can get that going and take a timer out to my studio with me. Well, off to finish my coffee and get dressed. Have a great day.

Good Morning......

Teresa....you sure were busy but it sounds like a good busy. You'll sleep well with the extra hour. For some reason I just don't like sit-coms. One day I stopped on The Big Bang & I was hooked. It's so funny, even over & over.

Shirley Mae....I'm happy to hear you feeling a little better. Do you have Skype? It's a wonderful thing for us far away Grammas. If no the camera was not too much & computer dumb me was able to hook it up. He well miss you too. I think we should pick one time & stick to it!

Lois....havw a nice sewing day...that's my plan too.

Suzette...I've loved every thing I've received from my SS. I'm sure she will too. Have a good quilting day.

I'll see you later....

Love & Prayers for all.....Kathy

Good Morning!

TERESA - so much going on! I had diagonal borders on my Alaskan Sampler. It had a Lemoyne star in each corner and a diamond shape in the middle where the diamonds met. Was that it? I've never been to High Five Pie. DD used to live in Capitol Hill area and I never heard her mention it.

SHIRLEY MAE - sounds like your little Jakey will miss you as much as you will miss him. It's amazing how a 4 yr old can be more helpful than an adult, sometimes.

LOIS - can you drive now? Have fun getting out and about!

SUZ - MMMMmmmmmmmmm. . .. I can smell your bread from here! In the Fifties, my mom used to bake 6 loaves a day. She'd hide two for dinner that night and lunches the next day and then my 3 teenaged brothers and their friends (our place was 'headquarters') were swarm in from school and stand around in the kitchen, tearing the remaining 3 loaves apart, smear them with (homemade!) butter, share some with their goofy little sisters, and make a memory - that you just revived! Enjoy your bread!

CINDY & SUE - well??? How did it all go? What did you see? What did you buy?

KATHY - We love Big Bang Theory, too. We even bought all the videos. But I like most comedies. Some dramas (NCIS, Mentalist, etc) but I don't like 'soapy dramas' like Grey's Anatomy, Revenge, or Sci-fi. and now you know! lol!

We had supper at friends last night and they were kind enough to even invite Scottie! and he was a good boy - only dug into one big plant she had on the floor. Tonite we're going to an early dinner at a Chinese restaurant with 3 other couples - one of them Warren and Lois! Remember them? They are now in assisted living. Warren never recovered from his stroke, so is in a WC, paralyzed on his left side. He had another heart attack last Aug. but seems better overall since then because of med changes. Lois's cancer has spread to her stomach, but she's not in much pain at this time. Her general health is so poor that they aren't going to treat her except for palliative care. But she thinks because they aren't treating her, she is cancer free. And they are letting her think that. So she's happy. But we have a window here where we think they can handle going to a restaurant. Other friends are going to transport them. We'll meet them there. So we'll see how it goes.

I finished my Hawaiian tesselating star and am now trying to make a creative backing out of my leftover bits of fabric. Hope to get it all done this morning and then do some uglies.

Hope your day is sew fine!

Good Morning,,,36 and blue sky and sunny here,,,,We slept our extra hour and then some....Hockey game kept me up till after midnight. I will soon be ready to start making the hexxie flowers that go around the border of the hexxie quilt...My pile of hexxies ans diamonds grows smaller with each game...we won by the way.

Today will be Annebelle day...I need to get a few done as I get so rusty if i don't....so I am going down there for awhile and might have to help stack fire wood in the basement for winter,,,,we have a closet for wood down there,,, it does bring in a few spiders so I put Baby Kitty on patrol. She just watches them doesn't eat them/ I takke the broom after them and beat the snot out of them,.....Spiders outside do not bother me but in the house is a different story.

My friend Cindy is waiting for the final word on her cancer,,,they have to do several biopsies to determine why she has all these spots,,,Hoping and praying it turns out better than the first report...the oncologist told her she is very treatable...but it will be a life long treatment. Not sure what that means yet,,

Well it is time for coffee, bedmaking, kitty feeding, and a few other fun things,,,,Hope God smiles on all of you today, XXXOOO

Good morning.. what a wonderful day this will be... I have the heater on taking the chill off the house so I can shower. I get to go to church today and I finished my SS table thingy and only need to make the binding which I will do today... it will be a evening project sewing it down and poof, all done...I made up my pattern so I hope she likes it..

I would like to get started on project two for my SS if possible, after all the package needs to be in her house the first week in December...fun fun...

after church today we are stopping at Staples.. I need a new mouse and a new chair for this computer... this one is awful and needs replacing.

I will do grandma's grocery shopping.. she is so befuddled by this time change thing that I will also go set her clocks for her... she may still be in bed when I get there because she doesn't know what time to get up with the time change... either this is the start of confusion for her or she is wanting me to change her clocks so she doesn't have to do it...I sure wish she had a hobby but she refuses to do anything.... and she looks for problems...I imagine that one day she will have to live elsewhere but she can still care for herself...

Chrissy, how old is Myles? give him a hug from me... I will add him to the prayers today at church...

Sharona, a group of cats is a clowder, I also saw that episode.. I love the older ones.. now everyone is sleeping with everyone... same thing happened with that Friends show... it was good till they added all the sex.. very few things you can watch on tv anymore.

Jana.. how nice to have Sarah so close... are all you kids near you now or do you still have that Cali hold out...your bulbs will be so pretty this spring.

Izzy, your room is beautiful..I have that chicken pattern in a magazine. it was a McCalls home magazine and it was from a couple of years ago...a dear friend gave me a subscription to McCalls quilting and they sent that magazine as a gift...

Kathy, I love the smell of wood burning stoves or fire places... we also have oak trees hanging on to their leaves.. dull brown leaves..but the fruit trees and maple tree are giving me fall colors... I love color.

Sharon here is the magazine link....a thrift store will have some great kid clothes....good luck picking a kindegarten.. here we get to go to the nearest school or a private school... no choices... we have one more soccer game then the torney.. it lasts all weekend... need to pack a lunch and be prepared... the better they do in the games the longer they stay...pray for a loss...lol... happy b-day to Vivian

http://www.mccallsquilting.com/mccallsq ... lt_Pattern

Mel.. how much does the butcher charge for the beef suet? I imagine it's mostly fat? hope it's cheap, sounds like something they are going to toss out anyway? happy grandson weekend.. what will the movie be?

Izzy, which block did you make?

Velda, glad you behaved at the show... not sure I would have been as responsible...the thing I love about quilt shows is that the vendors are all in one place....so much better than a shop hop.

Scrappy Pat, glad things are going well foryou....such a blessing...so? did you get very far on your table runner?

Teresa, you are a busy girl... hope you find your borders..the quilt I remember seeing that I think Joan made was the batik that was like the braid quilt but a separated braid.. I wish I had asked her where the pattern was for that one...quilters cache has a section full of border ideas, maybe yours is in there? or you could google quilt borders and click on images and see pictures...

ShirleyMae.. sorry the kids aren't being helpful but I wonder if they did help if it really would be help? sometimes it's better to do it yourself than to have not nice son in laws around...hope you get the meds worked out.. and that all calms down and your travels are smooth.

Lois.. I need a hair cut too, since you probably won't pick me up I will get mine done next weekend...

Suzette, it is always a hope that our SS's will like what we make, but I haven't had one say they didn't like their gift yet... your table thingy will be wonderful...I really am looking forward to seeing all the pictures of all the toppers.

Maryz... happy quilt is finished day... wooo hoo for you... dinner can always be shortened tonight if things don't go well... I am glad Lois is happy..

for me it's the showers but i think Jerry is in there now, so guess I will wait a bit...hope you all have a super Sunday...

Chriss
