Friday, September 13
Good morning everyone.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the people in the area of Boulder, Colorado. They just showed on the news the flooding in that area. I managed to get home yesterday before the skies, opened up here. I did get out to my studio yesterday and got the backing pieced for the Pinwheel quilt and the binding ironed. So, today I will be n the deck layering the quilt. This quilt is for my cousin's daughter. She had heart surgery done just before school started. I have to get motivated. Even tho I am off today the plumber is coming to replace the pipe that runs from the house to the street and I have to get the dogs to the groomer. Have a wonderful day.

The best laid plans of mice and men just keep going through my mind this morning. I am always planning things and they don't seem to get done. I didn't get to the Friendship Forest Quilt yesterday and I doubt I'll get to it today either. I did get a batch of veggie soup done yesterday and I have about two canner fulls of tomatoes left to do. If anyone else gives me tomatoes I will pass them on to my daughter Kim. I'm sick of seeing them!
Still waiting for the Little Wickey to arrive. Someone asked yesterday if Tia knew what the baby was and no she doesn't. They don't do the sonograms. It's a surprise to everyone
As longs as it's healthy, it doesn't matter.
I hope you all have a great Friday...we haven't had a "sew in" for quite a while maybe someone should plan one soon.
Vicky
addendum- just got a text from the aide, shes not coming in today....I guess I need to get around and get ready. I get to be an aide today. Life just takes so many unexpected turns.

Just got an email from Lyn (WeeOne). They are leaving Canada today heading back to Colorado (Estes Park). They have heard their home is still OK, but lots of roads closed and they may not be able to get back to their garage where they keep their RV.
12 inches of rain so far. It's so scary. The scenes on TV are all from around Boulder, we forget how it affects the surrounding areas as well.
Then the fire in New Jersey, WOW, tragic there, too. Gosh, so much going on with Wild fires in Utah, Rain in Colorado, fire in New Jersey, Yikes. Keep our prayers going.
Hugs to all, praying for safety.

Good morning...I am so happy I get a weekend.. although it will be a full weekend.
Tomorrow I need to go to our first soccer game of the season.. and sew my blocks together..and Sunday is church...and I really would like to get something made for my secret Santa.. I have two things planned.... I would love to at least get started on one of them.
Carole, it's good to see you poke you head in here every so often... hope all goes well for your sis.
Maryq... I love Castle..we have so many dvd's but never seem to watch them.. Marilyn watches hers but I rarely think to pop in a movie...hope you get that quilt bound.
Cindyg.. candy crush will be the end of us all...lol.. and don't even get started on some of the others... if you do we will never see you again.
Maryz.. glad the pain in your leg is lessening... what did the doctor say? our bathroom is yellow and white...I love it too...happy puppy day..
Chickie.. will you make a full apron or a waist one? wasn't Edna the town hit so hard with the tornado? are many businesses coming along there? Marilyn's egg experiment worked.. she took a paint can with lots of fabric to cushion it.. put the egg in an old sock in the middle of the fabric and the egg survived... so she gets to write her conclusion...
Jana...is there an updated Ethan picture? I like to see who I am sending my hugs and smooches to...
Tina.. I would like some pouring rain please...I groaned when I read your DH's middle name choice.. hope you girls had a great girls day...give Jaz a smooch from me.. remember when she cut her hair?...
Judi, glad you're home.. the yuckies will go away soon and you will be your old self...
Suzette, it always amazes me when you all mention the weather with rain or snow and we are as dry as we can be here...
Velda, there is a lot going on in this country, and in the world... but I bet if you asked a group of high school students what is going on around them most would not know... sad huh?
Vicky.. sorry your plans changed but I bet MIL will love having you there.
I need gas.. so I am off to work now... you all have a marvy dya

Good Morning!
Today is Puppy Day! and I celebrated by accidentally ruining my own slipper this morning! and let it begin.. . as if a puppy needs help!
SUZ - sounds like you'll be free of water today! Hope it's a fast job! I have 2 sisters who live in Longmont, just north of Boulder. One of them was on evac alert all afternoon. And her DD works at C.U. in Boulder. ABC news showed kids inner-tubing in the flooded parking garage where she parks on campus. No school today!
VELDA - I was wondering about Lyn. I know her home is in Estes Park. My sis that was on evac alert said they were supposed to go to a wedding there this weekend. no roads can get through. Not even to Lyons. And when I saw the fire I thought immediately of Lois and Delores! I wonder if either one of them lives near that.
JUDI - I bet that sleep did you a world of good! and a day of napping sounds like a good follow-up! Followed by a studly fellow waiting upon your every wish!
VICKY - sorry your day just went ker-blooey. I probably shouldn't tell you that I actually BOUGHT tomatoes yesterday, huh. I think it's neat that you don't know the sex of the baby. that's half the fun! Your MIL must live in her own home still. Does she need 24-hr aide care or just part-time? Has she ever thought of moving to assisted living? I know prices are very different around the country, but twenty years ago 24-hr care cost my dad twice as much as assisted living.
CHRISS - That's pretty smart of Marilyn to figure out the egg drop thing! Fabric, huh? Did she have any help from the sidelines by any chance? lol! Have fun at the soccer game. Can you take any handwork to work on? Even just your beloved hexies? I used to do that kind of thing when I went to my son's soccer games. We had bleachers to sit on.
today is grocery day. We are meeting our puppy at Safeway parking lot, so we figure we may as well go early and get the shopping and the flu shots out of the way first. Yes, flu shots. it's already that time of year! and we bought our one roll of Christmas wrap at Costco yesterday. I was feeling in a festive mood so I even let DH choose it! He chose well. It's coming, folks!!
have a great day! I'll have lots to report tomorrow!

Good Morning Girls
HAPPY FRIDAY! Sure feels like fall is in the air this morning and I'm loving it! Bring on the "sweater weather" If I could stay home today it would be a perfect "window washing" day and boy do they sure need it! Maybe tomorrow? The plan is to work like crazy tomorrow and sew ALL DAY on Sunday!
Got home late last night, again... another 10 hour day! Man this is getting OLD... tho the OT paychecks are nice! Sat for just a little bit when I got home and sewed a little more binding.. one more night Of "Castle" I should be able to finish it, toss it in the wash for "freshen up" and it will be ready to go!
Judi.... take all the naps you want for a few days! Glad you are feeling pretty good tho! Windows will wait!
Velda, being at work with no radio all day I miss a lot of the news. So I checked online this morning to see about the floods in CO. Poor fireman is stuck up a tree! Don't you wonder sometimes "How much more can we take?" Fires and floods, natural disasters and man-made ones!
Chriss.. My room mate has at least 300 DVD's!! So I have a full library to choose from--always have a movie popped in while I'm sewing. Sunday's sewing project will be finishing my Calendar blocks! I have to quit watching the tutorials at Missouri quilt co.... I get more ideas in my head and want to start them ALL! Next up will be 3 baby girl quilts!
Maryz.... today is PUPPY DAY! Are you ready? House "puppy proofed" Name picked out? You could name him "Safeway"! You bought Christmas wrap already? Are you one of those people that gets their shopping and wrapping done way before Thanksgiving!?
Tina... I love the name Easton! Not sure on West as the middle tho! That would almost as bad as one of those Kardasian's who named their daughter "North" and her last name is West ... "North West" Are you kidding me?
Vicky.... I hope you are not having dreams of giant tomatoes chasing you after all those you've been canning. Hope your day goes well at MIL's. It is nice that she can be in her own home. We always hoped that for my Mom too, but she needed so much more care than we could give her and the assisted living place she moved to was wonderful. She always worried that it cost so much and wanted to leave what money she had to us kids... but we convinced her we didn't want it.. we wanted to see her well cared for!
Time for me to fly....
Wishing you all a glorious day and I'll see you tomorrow for a morning report!

Suz - you might be off work but you have your day cut out. Oh, well, it's fun stuff, right?
Vicky - sorry you have to be the aide today. Little Wickey???? Did I miss something?
Judi - I missed something else - why do your shoulders hurt? Sorry your tummy hurts but the good news is that you don't have a big slice across your tummy. Take advantage of this time and rest a lot but don't forget to move around, too, as the blood circulation helps with healing.
Velda - There does seem to be a lot of tragic events going on lately. Fire, too much water, draught. The good news is that there is a vast amount of the country who are having perfect weather. They need to share, don't you think?
Chriss - Candy Crush - good grief. I need my head examined!!!! I still can't figure out why sometimes a lot of candy moves and sometimes not. It's not making sense to me. And how do I ask a friend for another life? LOL
Maryz - hooray hooray, today is puppy day! LOL What happened to your slipper?
I keep forgetting to mention that Vicki's realtor/friend was riding her mower last Friday evening and a drunk driver ran off the road and hit her. Threw her 185 ft. - she has a concussion (finally got the bleeding stopped), broken collar bone, broken arm and no telling what else. She black and blue from head to toe. Vicki went to see her at the hospital yesterday and she was talking business so Vicki says she's fine - LOL. As for me - I'm addicted to Candy Crush. What an idiot I am. I keep playing it and I don't know what I'm doing. I'm at work now and plan on sewing all weekend. I need to start on a Christmas tote but I won't let myself do that until I get the borders on my sunflower Dresden plate quilt.
May we all get to fondle fabric today.

Good morning!
Suzette - happy layering.
Vicky - sorry about your plans. I hope there are no more tomatoes showing up at your house.
Judi - rest up, sister! Your body is healing itself. I'm so pleased you're feeling better.
Velda - I'm adding my prayers to yours.
Chriss - happy weekend-eve to you! Glad Marilyn's experiment worked out.
Maryz - HAPPY PUPPY DAY! I'm so excited for you and Bill. Yay! How sweet of you to ruin one of your slippers in his honor.
Maryq - I love Castle also. I like your weekend plans, minus the ugiles.
Jules - sorry you're not feeling well. Hope your voice comes back soon.
Tina - is the Elephant Butte reservoir filling up?
Hopefully the rain will be on its way out this afternoon. DS1 thankfully had three phone meetings yesterday morning so he was working from home. He would not have been able to get home from the office yesterday. Schools are closed today - DGS is thrilled! We were down at the new homestead yesterday meeting with prospective contractors - we were glad to see the ground was not totally saturated. Our home here sits on top of a hill, so there's never been any chance of flooding here.
Sorry to cut this short - need to get stuff out for a charity pickup. I miss my quilty friends! xoxo Sharona
Cindyg - so sorry to stomp on you! That is unbelievable about Vicky's friend. I'm glad she's going to be ok. I get so mad at drunk drivers - it really makes my blood boil. I love Candy Crush also - it's quite the stress reliever!
