Thursday, September 12

Post by suzette58 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 10:15 pm

Good morning everyone.
I came home from work yesterday and ordered take out for my son and I. I fully intended to go out to my studio yesterday. I ended up taking a nice long nap. Guess I needed it. Hopefully today I will get out there and get the backing pieced for the Pinwheel quilt and get the binding ironed. Then tomorrow I can layer the quilt. I am thinking of stitching in the ditch. But, when I sit down to quilt that could change. I better get going this morning. Have a great day!!

Good morning...

Today and tomorrow I go to work, but get to come home an hour earlier than normal because we have a 2 hour store meeting Sunday night.

Chriss the discussion with Jovon was postponed from Tuesday night to last night due to bad weather warnings. We had torrential rains Sunday night, Monday all day, and most of Tuesday. More was predicted for Tuesday night with severe flooding so best to stay in. Last night however, we did have the discussion with her and ended up packing her up and taking her back to the women's shelter. Hopefully she understands that she has to make this work, and when she leaves she has to be able to supply the means to support herself or move back home with her family because she has exhausted all avenues of help through the church. Time to stand on her own...

Maryz the quilt top is together and I'm deciding on what to do for sure for the backing. This weekend's focus is to get the backing together and the quilt sandwiched and pinned. Do we have a name for the new furbaby yet?

Judi prayers for comfort and complete healing from the surgery.

Suz have fun in your studio when you make it out there.

Happy birthday to everyone I have missed this month.

Be blessed as you go through your day.

Mary/Rosebud

Today I'm going to make the third Sylvia block and make tomato soup. Darryl & I are going out to supper with some friends tonight, if the baby doesn't decide to come today. Tia sure looked more than ready yesterday. 8 more days til her due date....

Have a great day,
Vicky

Good morning.. it's going to be a great day...

Thursday is my busiest day at work.. so it will fly by...and I am almost caught up from being on vacation so it's all good...

Maryz.. wouldn't Riley be a bit ticked off if you brought home two puppies? the sheltie you are getting in black and white could be name oreo??? glad the leg is improving... sorry for Aut's test results... glad she's not giving up, and this time she won't be as stressed because she will know the process...

Cindyg.. I like the "dusty" colors too...just the bathrooms and Marilyn's room are bright.. I would like to repaint my sewing room a brighter color...the rest of the rooms will be calmer... amazing that with only a few primary colors there are so many shades

Karlene.. we had a cool day yesterday, kind of looked and smelled like rain... seems when you're hot I'm cold and visa versa... wow, only 8 weeks till the baby comes.. seems like that flew by, but not for Victoria I bet..hugs to her...the fires are probably 1 1/4 hours away by car but way far if they have to travel this way.. lots of stuff between here and there but boy that smoke can hang out and stink things up...have fun preparing a baby shower.. what fun...

Maryq.. I never thought of tote bags from upholstery fabric.. I do have a quilt one of Jerry's family made with thick heavy upholstery fabric... all kinds... so so heavy...

Sharon, sorry Emma won't play with Cooper but trust me, when Emma comes here to play with Marilyn Marilyn usually needs to be reminded how to behave after Emma goes home...lol...He will surely figure it out...this is the second year for Marilyn's new school.. this year is much better than the last.

Tina... 9 weeks.. my gosh will we get a boy or a girl?

Sharona, I thought since we hadn't seen you in forever that someone had packed you in a box and you were waiting to be unpacked...lol

Vicky.. thanks for giving me something to think about as I go to bed.. the 9 patch sounds like a fun sew along...what??? she's due in 8 days... boil water, sterilize things... you don't have time for dinner out, there's a baby coming...lol

Scrappy Pat.. prayers to you...

Suzette, glad you got a good nap yesterday..

MaryRose.. sometimes you can do everything in your power for a person and until they can figure it out for themselves they won't ever move on... this girl you helped will likely get it one day.. hope that's soon.. my stepdaughter will never get it... I guess some people just don't...

Jerry got a little paint on his pager and showed me how Windex got it off, then how Windex polished up his boots... he reminded me of the movie Big Fat Greek Wedding where the dad used windex for everything.. do you girls see what I have to put up with... ugh..

Marilyn is doing an egg drop experiment at school.. they take an egg and figure a way to drop it from 10 feet to the ground without breaking it....they will write a paper on their experiment.. it's only cost us about 4 broken eggs so far...lol...

I am needing to get ready for work.. you all have a superb day...

Good morning, It certainly has been awhile since I have been on here. So much going on, you all are such busy bees. I have been working on those 7 throws that I am making for my grands for Christmas. I have three done (the girls) and am now starting on the 4 boys. I am embroidering the blocks. I am working on the S. C. boys theirs are baseball blocks.

So very glad to hear that our Judi is up and moving. Did I read that she is coming home today. NOOOOOOOOOO way. Gosh, they sure do push you out the door, don't they. All because of insurance. Obamacare scares me.

My one and only sister had a heart attack this past weekend. She had a stint put in on Monday and came home yesterday. My brother in law is in a wheelchair and she is his sole caregiver. I am so worried about her, but gave her a lecture last night about taking good care of herself. LOL She is the oldest, but has always said that she is the baby of the family. So I used that to my benefit and told her that if I am the oldest she better listen to me. LOL

New puppy arriving tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting. Crawling around on the floor, not sure what is happening to the water in Washington, but don't drink it. Wonder what they will name the little furbaby? I also, wonder how soon we will hear a scream when this little one gets into things. Remember my devil dog. LOL He still loves my shoes, Ken's glasses. LOL

Prayers for Autumn. Tell her not to give up. I had fertility problems and it took us 5 years with the fertility doctor to have our 1st. Of course, we then had 3 in 4 years.Lots of prayers coming her way.

Shirley Mae is moving away. Well, it will be good for them to be near her son. Hope the move is exactly like they hope it is.

Well I better get the embroidery machine up and running. Love to all.

Good Morning Girls

Oh What a beautiful day! This surely is the day the Lord has made and I will rejoice! Even tho I have to go to work today, I vow to make it a great day in His honor!

Glad to hear Judi is doing well and gets to go home so soon! Thanks for the update Chrissy!

Suzette.. I'm a firm believer in naps... a good nap can restore the mind and soul and recharge the batteries to keep moving forward! It's part of my Saturday ritual. My kids know not to call me at 3:00pm on Saturdays cuz I'm napping! I can get up early on a Saturday and plow through the chores, but by 3pm I'm ready for a snooze! Did I tell you I LOVE your pinwheel quilt! Is this for a gift?

Vicky....Enjoy your dinner with friends tonight. Prayers for Tia in the next couples weeks, that all is well with baby! Am anxiously awaiting the good news!

Chriss... Too funny about the Windex... tho I have to say I'm a bit of Windex freak myself... tho I sometimes add a little white vinegar too it... works great on windows and the stove top. I loved that movie!

Carole.... YIKES you have been busy! And ambitious to make 7 throws! Sometimes I've been so tempted to get an embroidery machine, but the I'd go broke buying all the pretty threads! Prayers for your sister, that she has a speedy recovery and will be feeling great in no time. Sometimes you have to threaten a little... "Don't make me come down there and sit on you until you behave" Works with my sister!

Rosebud... I'm sure that conversation with your guest was difficult. Don't they call that "tough love" when you have to be a little "mean" It's really hard, because our nature is to be helpful. But sometimes you can do more damage than good by being TOO helpful, especially with some folks. I hope that she will be grateful for your help and move on taking responsibility for her own life.

Oh Dear, it's time for me to fly... with luck I'll get out of work early tonight and be able to work on the binding of McKenzie's quilt! My room mate bought Season 5 of "Castle" so we have something good to watch while I stitch!

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Suz - you must have needed that nap. That quilt will wait on you.

MaryRosebud - glad you got that meeting over with. It's not easy to tell people 'no' but you must know that is the best thing for her to help her be responsible for herself.

Vicky - happy eating out with friends tonight. Bless Tia's heart. That last month is so tiring.

Chriss - you are right, some people just never get it. My oldest DD is one of those. Drives me crazy. LOL at Jerry and his Windex. I love looking at colors and their shades.

Carole - it's not just ObamaCare (hate it) that pushes people out of the hospital quickly but the surgeries are so much easier - micro-surgery and lazer, etc. I had a hystie and bladder suspension and was in the hospital a week and I didn't even have a belly cut. They did mine vaginally. I would have loved to have the micro. Oh Lordy - you are doing 7 throws for Christmas. LOL Reminds me of the Christmas I made pillow cases for my entire family - 21 of them I think it was.

I'm at work. It's Friday Eve. Yea!! I worked for a few minutes in my sewing hole. My problem is that yesterday I started playing Candy Crush.......never should have done that. Bad girl - bad, bad girl!

Maryz - 24 hours!!!!!

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Rats! I did the 2-tab thing, reading in one tab and typing in the other. and the typing one just went *POOF* just as I was finishing!

SUZETTE - sounds like you needed a nap! I've never been a nap person but since I've been laid up with my leg, I've been taking one every afternoon and finding I really like them!

JUDI - so happy to see you able to post last night! Prayers for an easy home-going and quick recovery!

CINDY - I've never explored any of those on-line games. and never will!

CHRISS - Windex is good stuff. And if you don't drink all your Coca Cola, you can use the leftovers to clean crud from your toilet. Did you know that? My sewing room is soft yellow with white trim. It's cheerful and I love it!

MARY ROSE - you were so good to have this person in your home and try to help her. But if she didn't learn to make an effort to help herself, and you'd let it go on, it would have become merely 'enabling' her behavior. You did the right thing. and God blesses you for it, I'm sure.

MARY Q - Has it been five years since Castle came on? Time flies! Guess we better go look for that. It's one of our favorite shows.

CAROLE - 7 throws! You are a busy, busy woman! thanks for the encouraging words for Autumn. I will tell her what you said. And I guess thanks for the less encouraging words about Luke and shoes!!

VICKY - only 8 days! So exciting! I know you said that you dont' know if it's a boy or girl, but does Tia? I can't wait!

Puppy comes tomorrow - probably late morning. We've got our list of names - and add to it every time one of you makes a suggestion - but will wait until we get to know him before we settle on one. I'm anxious to know just who he is!!

Today, Costco and grocery store. (and then nap!) This will be a good test of my leg. Last week pain was about a 9. today it's about a 3 and localized to my knee now. Progress!! Whew!

make you day a good one!

Good morning! Yesterday I went to the LQS—the one in Edna, MaryZ, that we went to when you were here. They have expanded and added more inventory… what fun!!! I’ve seen them three times in the last two months… They love me! My DDIL said she’d love an apron and a plastic bag holder for her Christmas from me. So, off to the Quilters Patch I went… of course, I found more than just the apron fabric for her… for another DDIL, for my DGD, and some things for me! Now to get busy!!! (And stay away from the LQS so my credit card can cool down… and make DH happy.)

It’s so exciting here with all the new babies coming! Even new fur babies!!!

Judi—welcome home!!! They can’t keep a good woman down!!!

Vicky—I know how you feel with all your projects calling you along with everything and everyone else wanting a piece of your time! New books are always a trial and error. It’s just so easy for a proof-reader to miss an error… The nine-patch-a-day sounds like fun, but I know I’d never get it done… Too many days I don’t get to my sewing room. But… if you post it, I will attempt it!!! I agree about sewing tired… or anything! Have fun with friends this eve!!!

Scrappy Pat—I sure hope you don’t have bad news on your biopsy! We have your back with prayer!!! I’m glad you popped back in… I’ve missed you!

Suzette—sometimes we just need a nap more than sewing time!

Cindy—Friday EVE! Anything to get through the work week!!! One day at a time… Do you have big weekend plans?

Rosebud—when my DH was a social worker, he had to go through a lot of that “tough love”. Sometimes they just don’t want to make the effort required to change their lives. You are blessed for doing your part to help her, but in the end she has to be responsible for herself.

MaryQ—have a good day! Who-hoo! Castle to watch… have fun!

Carole—you sure are busy!!! Those quilts will be darling!!! I keep looking at all the embroidery patterns and think about a machine, but that is as far as I get. Too many other projects to do to need to start more!

Chriss—Sounds like Marilyn needs a bunch of quilt batting to cradle her egg… Love the Windex stories!!!

MaryZ—one more day and your life will never be the same! Sure hope your leg gets better!!! You will know his name when you see him!

I need to get busy! Have a great day!

Good morning!

Little one went down for his nap early - he got up at 5 a.m. so he is tired!

Maryz - only a few more hours until puppy arrives! yippee! Sorry for Autumn, but so happy to hear she will try again.

The sun is poking through the clouds - we had a very large lightning show last night - out in the west desert - just on the other side of the mountains - we could see the flashes, but the thunder was so distant - the flashes were about every ten seconds for at least 2 hours - we were eating dinner and could watch them. More is scheduled for this afternoon. With lots of rain too.

Worked on my birds in the air blocks - just sewing triangles together and squaring them up for right now.

I will head off this afternoon to babysit the other grands - Ethan will have a chance to play with his cousins today.

Vicky - with all of those tomatoes - you should can salsa too - Sarah was teaching that class for her service hours as a master preserver. She used the pressure canner for that class.

Well it is a quiet day here - I need it!

Hugs
Jana
