Good morning Lois and those that follow.
In a little while I will be off to work. But, this coming weekend I will have a 4 day weekend. It doesn't seem like its almost Labor Day. I am still plugging away at my pinwheel blocks. This quilt is going to be nice and bright. I got a book I ordered from Amazon yesterday. It is an Elm Creek quilt book. This one the blocks are based on her book The Union Quilters. It sure makes me want to do a sampler quilt. Maybe next year. Have a great day.
Lois - enjoy the gym and the rest of your day.

Morning Pals
Yesterday I was busy with making my Christmas Wreathswhile DH went down soutth to pick upthe wood for the cradle he is making DSD. I have 6.5 finished. I feel like I am such a slowpoke but then I have to remind myself that snowballs, corner triangles and flying geese made the non-QIAD way takes longer - I just don't want to buy any more fabric. I am glad I was paying attention before I cut all 84 of the 1.75" squares. I used the extra I cut off the corner triangles to make the corners of the snowballs. I am trying to be frugle - LOL!!!
Today is probably more of the same although I have no clue until the end of the day what I end up doing. I can make plans but sometimes they just get changed. Makes life interesting.
I have been trying to reach Judyquilts. Does anyone have any information on her or have you heard anything? A post I missed maybe.
Lotto Block for Septemeber is coming up and August is almost over.
It is 2;49am and I am off to bed. Hope you all have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY.

Summer is winding down. The garden has the fall look to it, things are starting to die. It's sad
I haven't been in the sewing room, yesterday was filled with cleaning and other things. Last night I sat down and fell asleep. I guess I needed a break.
Not much else going on here.
Have a great day,
Vicky

Good morning All, It is thundering and lightening and windy with downpours here,,,,they woke us up about 6, but I laid in the bed till about 7, it was cool to listen to as we sleep up stairs,
Today is beauty shop day I need to do this really bad, don't go very often but need a perm to give back some body to m y hair. Ken has a date to take 2 of the DGD shooting at the range,,,hope it stops raining for that, Oldest DGD is 18 an avid hunter, She loves every critter in the neighborhood...but they eat what they hunt and they all love venison and wild turkey. I do not....never liked wild meat,,,I have been told you cannot tell wild turkey from farm raised. but I do not know for a fact.
Well I was in a sewing funk and not really feeling like sewing and I started looking through some old books....I was looking for a dimentional pinwheel I saw where each flap of the pin wheel was fussy cut so when you lifted the flap ther was a picture inside, thought this would make a cute baby quilt (don't need one but just thinking) well I came across a pattern I made many many years ago from a show called "Simply Quilts" I don't think it is on any more but I loved that show and it taught me almost as much as Eleanor. They did a spider web quilt with dimentional spiders made from yoyos and I gave th finished quilt to some one, Always meant to make one for me....well NOW I found the pattern and am going to make a halloween topper for the table....I don't do Halloween here,,,No trick or treat ..But I like a little Halloween mixed with my fall decor.
So I started it last night,,,I will take the yoyo spiders with me and work on them at camp.
Hope everyone has a great day...prayer for all ....XXXOOO

Judi I remember that episode with the spider web quilt. It was really cute. I used to watch that show everyday. I loved it.

Good Morning!
LOIS - I bet you're looking forward to evening so you can look back to see what you've done today! lol!
TERESA - I try to be very frugal with my fabric - and thread! - too. I'll check out Sept to see what block you are doing . . I haven't seen anything posted from Judyquilts in a dog's age.
SUZ - what colors are you doing the pinwheel quilt in? Isn't this the quilt you are doing for your niece that head heart surgery? Or have I mixed up my facts. (guess if I mixed them up, then they aren't facts, are they.)
VICKY - you better sit down and take a load off before you fall down! you've had some big workin' days! And summer is on the wane here, too. But I'm always ready for fall. I'm tired of deadheading the flowers.
JUDI - cool storm! We hardly ever get noteworthy storms here. Sorry you were in a sewing funk, but looks like you found your way out! Happy spiders! I really want to see this finished project!
LORI - in our area, almost all of the sewing shows are gone. I think we have F & P (minus the 'P') and QIAD, but that's all. We never did have Simply Quilts that I ever saw.
CHRISS - our kids played a rented clarinet when they were in school. After 2 yrs rental, we owned it. Which meant that DS had to play the clarinet, too, once his sister was out of band. And since that was what we had. We couldn't afford a second instrument. The third one looked at that clarinet and decided to take chorus instead! lol! You're finally getting your vacation! Yay! I bet I know how you'll spend it!
I never did any yard work yesterday. I went outside, looked at those weed, thought they looked pretty nice there in the flowerbeds, and went back inside. I read, sewed, and cooked the day away. Today is errands with DH, I think.
I have a special request from my DD in Texas (who skipped the clarinet. hee hee). In 2 hours she and her hubby have an AI "date" at the fertility clinic. She asked me to ask everyone I knew for prayers. We will find out if this procedure is successful (only 20% chance) about Sept 5th. And she was told if it is, there's a strong possibility of twins and a slight chance of triplets. We'll take what we can get and be thrilled. But I told her I knew the biggest group of hot-shot pray-ers on earth and I'd get them working on it. So, please, may I ask you again to put your shoulders into this one? She really would make an awesome mom. thank you.

Judi: Oh, I remember "Simply Quilts". Wasn't the lady's name Alex?
I agree, that she taught many simple methods, just loke Eleanor. I saw her on another sewing show, not too long ago.
Today is another very hot day here. No fishing when it is this hot. So I will be sewing on many of my small projects. Working on some ideas for Secret Santa project, too.
Hope all goes well for you Suzette. I will be thinking of you.
Hope your DD heals quickly, Izzy. It must be such a challenge when communications are limited. God be with you all.
Teresa; Good Luck with your frugle adventure.
It makes you feel good to save on your fabric. It all costs so much these days. I was going through my storage case and found that I had accumulated so much fabric. Gotta be like you and learn FRUGLE!!! LOL It's a work in progress, that's for sure.
It's hard to believe that Labor Day is almost here. Wow, where did the whole year go???
I know I did not mention everyone, sorry. But I am thinking about you all and love to read your messages. Take care and keep busy.
Hugs
Velda

Re: Tuesday August 27,2013
Lois - what are you working on in your sewing room?
Suz - it is hard to believe it's almost Labor Day. Where has this year gone? A little over 2 months and it will be Houston Int'l. Quilt Festival time. Seems like we were just there a month ago.
Teresa - you know what they say...The best laid plans of mice and men.... What wreath are you making?
Vicky - I wish I felt summer going away. It's going to be almost 100 while we are at the lake for the long weekend. UGH For me, the end of summer is something to rejoice about.
Judi - I use to watch Simply Quilts all the time and I loved that show. Then Alex got together with Tim and they started charging to watch their show so I don't. There's just too much free stuff to watch. I'm glad you found a pattern to tickle your interest.
Chriss - we're going to the lake on Thursday after work. I take the Friday before and the Tuesday after Labor Day and Memorial Day so it seems like I have two little mini vacations. About those hexies - I'm so glad Sherry is going to join y'all in your hexie craze. It's also American to exercise the freedom to do what you want so I'm being American that way - I ain't doin' hexies!!! LOL
Maryz - prayers sent up for Aut. If this takes does that mean you will be coming to Texas for a visit in about 9 months?
Velda - I have the feeling that it will be too hot to fish this weekend here, too. Besides, my fishing license runs out on Aug. 31st. If we decide to fish we'll be running into town to get a new license.
My BFF Vicki and her DD came by last night to pick something up. It was good to see her. Yesterday would have been their anniversary - 25 yrs. Her DD kept her occupied with some retail therapy. I finished another Floral Log Cabin applique block last night. I have the next block ready - just need to trace and cut out the flowers. I'll take it to the lake with me in case I get tired of working on the men's cancer quilt. Gotta run.
I hope we can all fondle fabric tonight.
