Tuesday, July 16th

Post by suzette58 » Mon Jul 15, 2013 11:15 pm

Good morning everyone.
Hopefully today will be a better day. I just heard on the news that part of Maryland will be with out water for the next 2-5 days. A water main is failing so they are going to replace it. I guess it's better to do it before it breaks. But, the temps here are bad. Today aft work I hope to get to work on either the Quits of Honor quilt or the shade for our neice's boat. Have a great day.

It would be so bad without water right now. Wow, those poor people.

Today I plan on spending some time in the sewing room. Working on those leaves :-) And trying to stay cool somehow.

Keep looking up!

Good morning everyone. I'm up, ready for work, and having my morning coffee. The furbabies are wild this morning, chasing each other around like crazy.

Suz-I agree that if the water main is failing it should be fixed before it breaks. But poor people having to buy water will be the pits. So have you decided to just mend the old shade for the boat or will you be making a new one?

Vicky-How many more leaves do you have left? The quilt is amazing. Hope you find a good way to stay cool.

Lois-Wishing I could join you and the grands in that pool. It has been so long since I have been swimming I don't know if I remember how. Have a terrific day.

Izzy-Hope the burns aren't bad ones. Prayers that they heal quickly.

Time has slipped away again. It's time to get ready to head out the door. Everyone have a blessed day, and stay safe and cool.

Mary - I am going to patch the old shade. They mainly want to get through the rest of this boating season and then will order a new one during the winter. Something I didn't know, there is such a thing as "outdoor" thread. It is made by Coats and Clark. There isn't a big color choice but the thread is stronger then what we use as quilters.

Vicky - I can't imagine being without water either. But, if the main breaks I would imagine it would take longer to fix maybe.

Lois - enjoy the pool today. I guess you are having the same weather as I am.

Good Morning all...it is another scorcher here today too...up into the 90s. we have fog right now or haze. it did rain last night but the heat came right back. supposed to be all week like this. Since we sleep and watch tv and sew upstairs it would be impossible for us to live with out AC, I don=t know how i would get the bread baked either. That is what I will do this morning, have the dough ready to go. I did the whole upstairs yesterday morning so today I will do the downstairs uglies. laundry is done and put away too so sewing is in my future, Hope you all keep cool and have a great day....XXXOOO

Morning ladies. Getting DD ready for day center. DH just left to put electric line under a house for pump for water. I finished four more christmas blocks last night even with all the burn mishaps.
I have blister at end of middle finger on nail quick but the other two were more pain than anything thank goodness. I guess nerves are closer to finger tips cause they really hurt last night if touched anything; but I was determined to sew:)

I too could not imagine no water or a/c. I can deal with no a/c and stay in basement; yet DD does not sweat like normal people so she can't cool body down so has to have a/c. Same goes for heat. Her bed stays at 85 degrees year round due to rods in back and back aches. I would wake in puddle if I had to sleep in her bed LOL

Well off to get letter from dr today so I can keep her on my insurance. Her bday is Sunday. Plans are cookout and swimming saturday:) Hard to believe she is 26.

Did you all see Gabriellas christmas bizar pics she uploaded. They are beautiful. I so much love those elves. Check them out if you didnt:))

heat index today to be 106. YUK may hit the pool this afternoon. got to finish picking beans and then canning them tomorrow.

Well bye for now got to get out of pjs before transportation gets here for dd:))

Good Hot & Humid Morning!!

We'll be in this weather mode for a week. I always try to think I'm cooler than my DD2 in Austin....we'll only be in the low 90s.
As I said that binding/backing is a real pain to sew through. The LQS owner told me she had extra wide fabric good for backing and it was a wonderful match. It's a Laura Ashley with the fringed salvage & a little thick now that I look at it really well. I wonder if it was meant for something like curtains. I just have one long side to sew. Then the label. That's my day except I need to roast a chicken!

Suzette.....OH...to have to go to bed with no shower! I remember doing that for 9 days with hurricane Gloria(in the 80's). Hopefully it's just 2-5 days.

Vicky.....did you tell us just how many leaves you quilt has? Is the end in sight?

Lois....the pool is the best place(or the ocean)for keeping cool today.

Mary/Rose.....Have a cool work day.

Judi...I'm going to look into A/C for my house. I think those slim ones that are high up in the walls. I miss baking bread with just me I can't eat it fast enough.

Izzy....I'm hoping you fingers are doing better this morning. You sure are making short work of those blocks. How many are you making?

Well I'm off & determined to finish that binding.

Love & Prayers.

Good morning...

Gabriele, welcome to the forum..hope you got to sew lots yesterday... what are you working on? tell us a little about you...

Maryq.. how nice that your dead tree is gone... how are things with the roommate? will she be there much longer? glad the cabin is cleaned out, what a job that must have been...stuff piles up quickly.

Suzette, sorry about Wyatt.. you're right, people don't call much anymore... they don't even communicate, don't know what to say... and writing by hand is out of the question with computers... it's a different world than it was when we were growing up.

Karlene.. Victoria craves lobster, mine was chocolate sundae's or m&m's...we haven't gotten the paint yet..Jerry is prepping her room, had to take a wall paper border down and patch some holes... she wants a teenager room and seems to think that means neon...lol

Vicky, when it would be a hot day and when the sun went down grandma would open all the windows and wet the ground outside.. it helped make it cooler.. and smelled wonderful...

Kathy, I am so glad you and your sis are having fun together... I wish my sister could do that... how is DD?

Scrappy Pat.. I sure hope that hand heals soon...

Chickie.. your dinner sounds wonderful... everything I love... here the corn in the fields is mostly for the cows..

Jana, can the atty who wrote the FIL papers get you a copy? sorry things are such a mess.

Carole, sorry you're having to leave... have safe travels.

O'Dorothy, I always have the same thing in a restraunt for breakfast too..glad Shelly is still in Jim's life.. it's been a while now....I am taking vacation next week to make up for the days I didn't take during the 4th...I had already planned three days next week so I just tacked on the whole week.. we go to Morro Bay which is a coastal town, a friend of mine has a house she rents there for only $90 per night.. we have to vacuume and mop before leaving.. instead of changing the beds and doing the laundry we will bring our own bedding and towels and not have to wash theirs.. just put them back on the bed...

Izzy, what grade do you teach? My son was a student teacher last year and this year will be his first paying job.. he is teaching AG biology and AG shop to high school students...

Judi, we had spaghetti last night too, it was wonderful..and they now sell our sour dough bread at Costco so we had that too... glad your feet are working for you.

MaryRose.. 30 melons is a lot.. and it's such a pretty quilt.. I will make one but it has to be behind a few others first...Heaven knows I need my stash busted....

Suzette, I think that unless we get some real good rain a lot of people will be out of water, and not just due to repairs.... I see so many green lawns in town but the water tables are so low, I will be surprised of water use isn't metered soon.

Vicky, how about a wet towel around your neck.... happy sewing

Lois.. those grands will have fun no matter what they do, after all they are at grandma's house.

MaryRose... I haven't been swimming in forever either... don't even own a suit....

Judi, do you make all different kinds of bread or just one particular favorite?

Izzy, I will go look for Gabriella's photos, glad you're keeping cool.

Cindyg.. where are you...

and you all know my next line... time for work..you all have a marvelous day

Suz - that seems like a large area to be without water for so long. Enjoy whatever you decide to work on tonight.

Vicky - I'm so glad to read that you will be back working on Kim's quilt. How much more to you have to go?

Lois - swimming sounds wonderful. I wish I had a pool in my backyard - one large enough for me to swim laps. It's such good exercise.

MaryRosebud - what do you suppose is going on with the dogs? Mine were acting odd last night, too. Was it a full moon or something? LOL When we have a hurricane heading our way we fill up bathtubs and sinks and I fill every pitcher and vessel I can find so we'll have water to make coffee. The power is usually out so we have to light up the BBQ pit and use our old camping coffee pot but it's a lot better than no coffee at all.

Grammie - we think 90 is cool weather at this time of year! I don't know how anyone lives without A/C. Ours runs 10 months out of the year if not more. I have and A/C on and ceiling fans all running.

Billizzy - whew, I couldn't sleep in an 85* bed either. Sorry about your burned fingers. I will go look at Gabriella's pictures.

I'm at work, as usual. My quilt student came over last night for some help. After she left I read a couple of new magazines. Just wasn't in the mood to sew by then. I hope tonight will be different. Today is lunch with the church girls. I know all the talk will be about Vicki and Ed.

May we all get to fondle fabric today.
