smoke smell

Post by sharonkl » Sun Jun 09, 2013 1:10 pm

I bought some (5) big binders of quilt designs yesterday at a yard sale. They are the big goergia bonesteel and the ones from oxnoor house.
Only thing is they smell like cigarette smoke. Any ideas how to get rid of the smell? They are in my garage right now.
Thanks!

Yes, Put them in a lidded box with newspapers for 48 hours. If that doesn't work try using coffee grounds (fresh) in the box for another 48 hours.
Good luck.

I used Bounce Dryer sheets in between pages in a book and let them set for a few days. All smells of cigarette were gone.

Put them in a box or bin with charcoal briquettes for a few days

Thanks for the hint. I think I will use the coffee ground one. I have a plastic box with a tight lid I will use.
Sure hope it works.
