Saturday, June 8th

Post by suzette58 » Sat Jun 08, 2013 1:10 am

Good morning everyone.
I talked to my sister in-law yesterday and she said she fell on her front porch. Deep inside me I do not believe it. No one was around when she fell so we really don't know. Her son has been stealing her prescription medicines so I wouldn't be surprised if he did it. I got the binding sewn on the Jacobs Ladder quilt. So now it is an official inside project. Yesterday we got lots of rain from the tropical storm but no winds. Thank goodness. I have to head to Walmart to get groceries and then a round or two of the Maytag Mambo and then I can work on my quilt or go to my studio and start the Quilts of Honor quilt. Have a great day.

Good morning everyone. Suzette I hope that no one would try to hurt someone deliberately. I hope she is okay. Special prayers going out to her for strength.
Well within the next hour and a half our grandson will earn his Marine Corps Eagle anchor globe and be called Marine for the first time. I guess it won't really hit me until we see him on Thursday.
Guess that is it for this morning. I need to go get my haircut, then shopping and starting to pack. The kids want to find some place called no jangles chicken or something like that on our way to SC or on the way back, no clue about that one.
Well gotta go. Have a beautiful day
Travel safely and return often
And definitely get that mamo!!!!!

Good Chilly Wet Morning.....

It rained all day yesterday & into the night. I have no idea if the sun is coming out today. It's ugly day for me. I need to start getting ready for leaving Tues for Long Island & my DD. When I finished my BOM top I had so much 2" boarded fabric leftover. Ive now realized it's foe a 3ed boarder.....so I'll put that on today.

Suzette.....Our gut very seldom lies to us. But you have to go by what she says & keep her in prayer. Maybe you'll be sleeping under that quilt tonight!

Lois.....I like doing laundry when I'm sewing it forces me to get up & move around. At this house it's 1' from the sewing room door...lol

Pat....that sounds like a wonderful idea...a neighborhood sale. May you find the item of you dreams or a little fabric. How wonderful you get to sew with your DD.

Chrissy....that time went by fast for me. Very soon you'll be the Grandmother of a Marine. I reason to be proud!! Good luck with the chicken. Maybe someone here has heard if it.

I'm of to dress & clean so I may sew.

Love & Prayers......Kathy

Good morning! Yesterday I finally got the oven cleaned... or as much as I could before giving up! Six plus hours was enough time to spend on it!!! If the new tenant gives it regular cleanings, it should be much better after a few times...

My mom had an upset yesterday. Her phone has had a lot of static since all the rains started. The lines are buried, and of course have water in them. My BIL has been calling the phone company to repair it, and of course they have been short-handed because of the OKC tornadoes. They finally came out yesterday (BIL and Sis are in Trenton, MO for weekend) and worked on it. Mom saw him leave and went to use her phone… DEAD! She, of course, panicked. She went and sat on her porch with a white napkin and finally flagged down the neighbor across the street. She came over and called my BIL on her cell phone. He called the phone company and got him back. Of course her LifeLine didn’t work, either with no phone. Just last week I was asking my sister if we shouldn’t get her a Jitterbug for emergencies… (just like that!) If I hadn’t gotten her when I called, I would have beat it to town, of course!!! Odie and I will be spending time with her today! I wish she didn't live by herself, but she wouldn't be happy anywhere else. I'm fortunate that she IS able to live alone...

Time to be getting ready to go... Happy Saturday!

Good morning.. happy Saturday...

we have had lots of trouble with Internet Explorer lately and are now using Google Chrome... so much nicer and it works....

Jana, did your brick arrive? is it beautiful?

Cindy, I am keeping Ed and Vicky in my prayers today, add an extra hug from me... nice of you to get him some comfy clothing... the best thing someone brought when my grandma came home from the hospital was groceries.. milk, bread, lunchmeat... basic stuff...

Karlene.. my dentist appt went well, I need a crown and it will take a month to get the insurance approval... Marilyn is still on the state's insurance and could have gold plated teeth and the state would pay for it, but not me.. I need to wait because I pay for my own insurance through my work..lol... I'm glad your parents adopted you too, you are a pretty neat gal to know...

Maryz.. your deck might get painted if you wouldn't take your painter with you when you leave... I do like that the room is getting finished as I am at work but Jerry and I don't work the same way... I am neater and more organized than he is... he removed all the baseboard yesterday because since we painted we decided to do flooring... he doesn't have it laying flat... and I would have removed it before painting... glad this bathroom, tucked in the very back corner of the house, is his practice room and he will learn... no way could I be here when he is actually painting...

Lois, of course your post office isn't happy... no one is ever happy when they are caught doing something wrong... glad you got your mag's

Kathy, Tuesday..I am sure it will all be fine... both you and the ex have a job to do and he is as uneasy as you are... what did Jacquie say???? keep your pecker up....DD will improve greatly with you there...

Chrissy, happy Marine day... how exciting.

Judi, your veggie order sounds interesting... I guess they change products with the seasons? is it all locally grown?

Suzette, happy grocery shopping.. hope all is well for your sis...

Scrappy Pat, I bet coffee tastes wonderful in your new mug....I haven't read STephanie Bond books.. I did like Evanovich but had a hard time with the language when did the F word start showing up in books?

Chickie, you snuck in there.....your mom sounds a lot like my grandma.. now that my mom isn't there taking care of her she has pep in her step... hope the jitterbug works for her if you decide to get it.. but her phone probably won't cause her trouble anymore.

I am off to sew.. you girls have a marvelously wonderful day.. it should reach 100 * today, look out tomatoes.... Jerry found a snake skin, guess a snake shed it while going into a hole.. time to watch where you walk...

Good morning!

Beautiful day here!

The brick/stone did arrive and the two boys hauled down a pallet's worth and added it to the lower wall - still needs a second layer on that wall and one layer on the top - they worked hard and did a good job - both boys were about 14. I fed them lunch - my Caspar Hot dogs - they each polished off about 5!

Sarah came last night and we sewed and got a few UFO's of hers completed. One was a rag quilt for Ethan and the curtains for his room. The curtains match the quilt I made him, when he was born. We had enough fabric to make them - did add some more from a LQS- and she also made fabric wall art of the characters in the quilt to hang on the wall - looks really cute - I think she is going to post it on Pintrest when it is all hung up. The wall art is a catapiller, dragonfly, snail and frog.

Sarah's DH took the boys - both Stu and Ethan camping last night - it was a Church activity - called - Fathers and Sons - still wondering how little one did sleeping in his new sleeping bag.

Well my other boys will be out here in a little while to mow the lawn and weed whack more of the weeds in the backyard.

Hopefully I will get to sew on my blocks for the tablerunner - got the fabric I needed -

Have a fun Saturday!
Hugs
Jana

Happy Saturday!

SUZ - I hope your SIL is telling you the truth. But sounds like you are really moving along on all quilting fronts! Glad you had no winds. They can be so scary - and dangerous.

LOIS - you're doing the Maytag Mambo, too? Enjoy the music! Personally, I prefer the Bernina Bossanova! lol!

PAT - I have my SP ready to mail today or tomorrow. I'm getting another package together now so I want to make just one trip to the PO. I'm a fan of Evanovich, too. And if I were going to put a sticker on my car (they are in the back of her books, you know) it would be Morelli. How about you?

CHRISSY - congrats on your Marine! How far is your drive from home to the graduation?

KATHY - I know you're not looking forward to going to NY, but when you think of how you'll help your DD - and I would think her dad would have that first and foremost, too, then I bet it will be OK once the initial meeting and settling in is done. I like doing laundry while sewing, too. I use the oven timer to remind me or else I'd be on the first load all day long! I have 2 hallways and a staircase to get to my Maytags, and if I know there's a hot project under the needle I can make short work of folding.

CHICKIE - I'm not sure what a jitterbug is, but sounds like your mom should have one. I think it's wonderful that she's still able to live on her own, but know it causes you fretful times. Blessings don't come without their downside, I guess.

CHRISS - as for painting, at our house, if Bill actually paints an inside room, which is high on his Never Do AGAIN list, he would do it the right and exact way. I'm the sloppy one that tries to take shortcuts. But I do agree - it's hard to paint together if your 'crew' follows a different set of rules. lol!!

JANA - those bricks can be heavy! Are they what they call "cottage stone". We (read "I") just built a 30', 4-layer wall (we call it a rockery since it replaces our old rockery) in our front yard. I wonder what Ethan thouht of camping!

Yesterday I got backings and bindings made for two quilts a label for a third, worked on blocks for a fourth, and sewed the binding on a fifth. And DH started quilting my Alaskan Sampler! Today I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but I'm sure some of my day will be taken up with UGHlies. DH will finish painting the deck and for me that's exciting enough! We need a small table out there and we may make the rounds of garage sales today, on the hunt.

May your day be SEW-tastic!

Good Morning Girls

I can't believe it... The SUN IS SHINING THIS MORNING! One of my neighbors is already out mowing his lawn! That's where I'll be headed in a little bit myself. It's so uplifting to actually see the SUN.
the grass might be just a bit wet yet, so I think I'll do a couple inside uglies before I head out!

Suzette.. I too always say "go with your gut" Does your nephew live close by his Mom? If you suspect that he's hurting her, is there someone, like with her local law enforcement or county that can check up on her? Here in MN there's a law about "vulnerable adults" and if the State considers someone vulnerable, they check up on them and make sure they are okay. She will be in my prayers as I mow today--that's where I do some of my best praying.

Lois.... hope you have a GREAT day doing Exactly what YOU want! I love those kind of days! But other than work days... I do mostly what I want! tee hee.

ScrappyPat... every year the town next to me has city wide garage sales... and I'm sometimes tempted to go... until I realize I don't NEED any more stuff and could probably have a garage here with all my JUNK! Enjoy tho... you just never know what treasure you may find.

Chrissy... Congratulations to your Grandson!!! I've heard the Marine Corp can be pretty tough! You must so be proud of him. I hope you will post some pictures when you get back... I so love a man in uniform!!! Safe journey!!!

Chickie... what's a JITTERBUG? My 92 yo Auntie has life line too, but she never wears it. She's failing fast with dementia and is so stubborn about things. She's my Mom's only surviving sibling and my sister takes such good care of her. We're trying to talk her into moving into assisted living, but she refuses to go to "one of those places". Even tho the one where my Sis works is BEAUTIFUL and would be perfect for her.

Chriss..... One little tip I learned a long time ago... don't paint or wallpaper with your husband....could be grounds for divorce. Good idea that Jerry and Marilyn do the painting while you're gone! Have fun sewing today!! I think we're supposed to get rain tomorrow again so tomorrow with be laundry/sewing day for me!

Maryz.... My goodness you've been busy!! I so loved the outdoor sewing room.... I'm the sloppy painter too. I painted my office a couple years ago, and still see little blotches of paint on the carpet. I always promise myself that I'm going to be careful, but then I get in a hurry and get sloppy. I'm waiting for the mood to really hit me to get my bathroom, bedroom and porch painted... some how it just never does! I'd rather be sewing.

Kathy.... I know you are not looking forward to staying at EX's but I hope it turns out well for you and your DD. Hopefully the time will go fast... You'll be in my prayers too as I drive around the yard today.

My room mate is still sleeping this morning so I'm trying to be kind of quiet. You know how we have fabric stashes? This girl has BOOKS! bags and bags of books! I promised I wouldn't give her a hard time (teasingly of course) about all her books, since I have more fabric that a LQS. It's kind of fun tho as I now have a complete library to choose from if I get the urge to read. She has a lot of Nora Roberts, and Janet Evonovich. It's hard for me to sit still and read, so I'm trying to finish up a couple I'm in the middle of before I go to bed. I love books by Ann Rule, as they are true crime stories and she's really interesting to read. Just finished one about the Susan Powell disappearance. Stacy also has a library of DVD's so now I have new movies to watch while I sew! and TV's series!!

Guess I've chatted enough for one day... but get the body moving and start an ugly or 2.

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Mary
