Friday, June 7th

Post by suzette58 » Fri Jun 07, 2013 12:26 am

Good morning everyone.
Today I am off. Good thing because we are supposed to get some of Tropical Storm Andrea. We had some rain last night and places along some of our major highways have water ponding along the road. That is dangerous. After I get a few things done I am going to sew the binding on my Jacobs Ladder and then it will become an inside project. I am worried about my sister in-law. She posted on Facebook that she fell and broke several ribs on the left side and is bruised on her legs, face, arms. I don't believe it. Her son has been stealing her medicines and abusing them. She is up her 4 hours away from him so he can't get them. I really believe he hit her. I am hoping that someone saw what happened. I don't see how she could have driven 4 hours up the road with broken ribs. Please pray that I am wrong. But, someone that steals their mother's medicine will do anything. Have a great day.

Good morning!

Suzette - how awful for your DSIL. I hope he hasn't abused her - prayers going out for the situation. I have a cousin who stole my grandparents' pain meds, and once he was a nurse he stole from his patients. The need for drugs makes people into monsters sometimes, it seems. I hope you get the situation sorted out. Have fun on your inside project - batten down the hatches!

I started and finised a book in the Longmire series - it was really good. It's a show on A&E (their first scripted show). We really like it. Today it's the DGS - I'll take him to the nursery and let him pick out something so he might get interested in yard work...!

Have a great day. xoxo Sharona

Suzette sorry abpit your sister in law. Hope she is ok/ Any son that would hit is own Mom is reprehensible...I could not even begin to imagine,,,,I will keep good thoughts for her.

It is a bit dreary today. We might get a few showers too. My friend and I had a great time. My sis came by too and we had a gab fest along with quilting. I got the label made. I did a few more quilt as you go blocks for my grandsons quilt and cut out Sophia's dress. It is lined and has gussets and is a simple sundress from the picture,,,but is a paneled front and back...I almost scrapped the project last night just reading the directions. After a good nights sleep (9 hours) I will try to do it. No ppromises.

I also have a little shopping to do later. I must wait for my Otganic food delivery as I have milk and eggs coming too today, my time is between 2 and 6. It comes with freezer packs to keep it cold and we have a cooler on the porch.

Well I need to get coffee and you know who is staring at me again...hope you all have a great day XXXOOO

Good Morning!

Oh Suzette how terrible I will keep your DSIL in my prayers. I agree with Sharona people will do anything for drugs. It's really ashame. Keep us posted. Look luck with that storm brewing I thought about you when I heard of the storm. Our nice weather is slowly going away......I like it when it is around 68 but they are forcasting 90+ next week so I'll be staying inside a lot I don't do well in the heat.

I started reading those Elm Creek Manor books by Jennifer C. (don't know to spell her last name. I had read a couple of them a long time ago so thought I would restart them. Enjoy reading a little before I go to sleep.

My plan for today is work out in the yard this morning while it is still cool, then need to go gro shopping maybe come home and sew.

hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good morning.... happy Friday..

I am going to have a great weekend.. first I will clean out the drawers in my bathroom, time once again to get rid of the partial bottles of stuff, then I am going to try to make a snow man block for the Christmas swap.. and I will finish cutting up my scraps. and when that is done I will read my quilt magazines... I will do all this unless something comes up to make me do something else...lol

Cindy.. how exciting for your student/friend to get her quilt almost done... my dentist isn't happy with me.. it's been years since I've gone and I need a crown, two fillings and a cleaning that will take two visits.. but he did say I have good bones...lol.. Marilyn can come help Don paint.. she is almost a professional... infact you can threaten him with.... if you don't paint I will get a 10 year old to do it...don't count out the hexi's yet... you just may find yourself with a project you can't live without....

Maryz.. I didn't scroll down yesterday.. your sewing space is gorgeous.. but be careful, there is a mountain lion lurking near you... shhh, be vewy vewy quiet... that's an Elmer Fudd quote, feel free to use it...I am not taking on the painting Jerry and Marilyn are... I'm coming home from work to a painted house... and I ooohhh and awwww at their progress.. I pick out the colors and such adn they do it....win win...lol

Chickie.. poor Odie, smelling the chicken dinner all the way home.. nice of DH to upgrade the furniture he found.. you sure are loving those plants, can't wait to see how your room turns out.

O'Dorothy, I have a tooth that is broken, it needs a crown.. I have never had more than fillings put into my teeth, this will be interesting... our post office is going down hill too, our regular post master had an illness and things just crashed from there.. now the sorter (there are about a thousand people in my town) doesn't know the difference from an 8 and a 9 so we often get the wrong mail.. grrrr... glad Kathy is doing much better.

Suzette, how far does your sis live from you? sorry she is having so much trouble, I will say a prayer for her.

Sharona, wow, a farmer in the family... hoep DGS loves gardening.. sounds like a fun day, I wonder what he will pick out...

Judi, all those deliveries you may never have to leave the house again... we had milk delivered when I was a kid but now I have to go to the store to get what I need... happy dress making.

Scrappy Pat.. I read those Elm Creek books but caught up with the author.. and never went back.. couldn't even tell you the last one I read...I did the same thing with the Janet Evanovich books... the Elm Creek is a nice series.. enjoy.

and I need breakfast and to put my lunch together... you all have a great day,
Chriss

Good Morning!

Suzette - so sorry for you DSIL - we too had a problem similar with my Mom, prayers go out to yours.

Judi - I too always read the directions first - good luck with that dress - it will be darling!

Sharona - we too are working in the yard this morning - DGS's around here love to work in the yard - as long as there is dirt to play in! LOL

Pat - enjoy shopping - did mine late last night.

Today Matt and the boys are coming over - hopefully Lowe's will have delivered the brick for me by then. Otherwise, they will just clean out the weeds in the backyard. Michael is heading off to Lowe's in a few minutes to buy another wheelbarrow - two are better than one and this one has two wheels across the front so it will be easier to stabilize as they use it.

I got all the parts cut out and ready to assemble on the tablerunners - but of course, my luck, also ran out of one of the pieces I was using. So, when little one is down for a nap - I will make a quick run down there. Glad that it is the one I teach at and is only a couple of miles down the road.

So it will be busy around here today - and it will get quite warm - upper 90's again - with beautiful bright sunshine! Only two of the very highest mountain peaks have a little snow left on them.

Have a great day! It's FRIDAY!!!!! YIPPEE!!!!
Hugs
Jana

Suz - that's just awful about your sister-in-law. Why some women take abuse like that is beyond me. My God, he's going to kill her! Oh a happier note - I'm glad you are off today. Maybe you will be able to stay in out of the storm and sew.

Sharona - we are hooked on Downton Abbey. DH orders them from NetFlix. We have one more in the 2nd season to watch. Next is season three. I have no idea how many seasons there are. Sounds like you are into Longmire about the same way. I'm not getting much sewing done. Are you?

Grammie - sounds like you had a fun day yesterday. Good luck with that dress.

Pat - we had a small cool front come thru yesterday evening but it didn't drop much rain on my side of town. The good news is that the humidity is low today. We will be between 90* and 95* for the next week. I'm sure not ready for this heat but it's here.

Yesterday after work we stopped and got 4 pair of lounge pants and matching t-shirts for Ed. We are going to see them this weekend and we'll see if there's something Vicki needs us to do. Yesterday they got the results from the pet scan and it showed a mass on his pancreas and somewhere else on his back at about the waist. Waiting until they get the results from the biopsy next Tuesday before they can get him started at M.D.Anderson Cancer Hospital. It all seems so strange. Three weeks ago he was throwing around 50 lb.bags of donut mix and now he's too weak to stay awake long or to sit up and eat. Some happier thing - tonight I'll go home and fix dinner then continue getting my applique pieces ready for the next flower and we will watch more Downton Abbey. Right now I'm at work and have plenty to do so I'd best get doing.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Chriss - what a perfect weekend you have planned. I hope nobody messes it up for you. If I told Don that a 10 yr. old was coming to paint the house, he'd say "how soon can she get here?" LOL LOL

Jana - I missed something. What are the bricks for?

Good morning from soggy NY. What a difference from a week ago when we were at 90 deg with 90% humidity. (Well, the humidity is still there, just drop the temp by 30 deg.)

I found fabric for the borders and put the borders on the three quilt tops last night. Now to hunt up some backing fabric and piece together some batting. I needed to take a break from the hand sewing because the tips of my fingers were sore!

My friend who had the knee replacement last Tues. has been in rehab for the last week and may be released to her daughter's this coming Tues. She is such an inspiration at 89!

Today is my parent's 56th anniversary and Sunday will be my dad's 81st birthday! What a blessing they have been in my life. I'm so glad that they adopted me and made me their own.

Mel - I think it was you who posted about a cleaning museum? My mom would love that! (Not me!)

Chriss - How did the dentist visits go? I have to make an appt. for David. He always has me call to make appts. for him - I'm not sure why he doesn't want to do it himself, after all, he knows his schedule.

Miriam - did you get your oven cleaned? That is not a fun job. My friend who lost her husband last summer has been trying to sell off many of his rental properties as she is not skilled to keep up with all the repair issues and doesn't need the stress of tenants moving out in the middle of the night. The calves up on the corner are starting to get bigger so I can now see their heads and backs when they lay in the grass.

Maryz - I had to laugh when I think of all the time and money some put into a sewing room, but I'll take your outdoor one any day that the weather allows! I did sit out on my new front walk and sew a binding earlier this week. It's a little too soggy to do it today.

Kathy - I've been praying for you as you get ready to go help out with Kim. I can not even imagine what the stress would be staying with your ex who ended it after that long. May you be surrounded by God's peace.

Good Morning!

SUZ - that's awful about your SIL's son. have you talked to her about it? Or did you 'put a bug' in her doctor's ear? If it is abuse, to escalate to this degree, it's probably been going on for quite a while - and it will get worse. He may kill her one day if it's not stopped. Way to go on the Jake's Ladder! And potty your babies before the storm hits!

SHARONA - was your cousin ever caught? We had a nurse in our NICU that was stealing stuff from other nurses' purses to buy drugs. And furniture. and clothes. But she got caught finally.

JUDI - what a nice day you had yesterday. I have bought pattterns, too, and then really moaned when I saw the directions. congrats on yours! I think it's so cool that you are getting organic produce delivered to your door! Is it much more expensive than buying it in the store?

PAT - oooh, if you prefer 68*, Kansas isn't really your kind of place in summer, is it! I've read several, though not all, of the Elm Creek books. Actually I prefer lightweight murder mysteries, but Elm Creeks are fun to listen to while I sew. The narrator has such a perfect voice for the stories.

CHRISS - I like your way of painting! Come home and find it done! I'm having our deck painted that way. But it's taking SOOOO long! lol!! After the damage I did to my teeth by not going to a dentist while growing up, I vowed to never miss a 6-month cleaning and I never have in 43 years. I've had work done but it's still all a result from not going - crowns, replacing old fillings, pulled teeth, etc. I'm having implant surgery on Monday and that, too, is because of my neglect all those years ago. Warren and Lois didnt' go for years and now they have $20,000 worth of work to be done - all from neglect. So I have a very high soap box when it comes to keeping up dental health - which is a direct relation to the rest of our body's health, especially heart. I hope your weekeend goes exactly as you plan. Those bathroom drawers - can they ever make a mess! someone needs to do ours, too, but so far - nothing's happening .. . I had my eye on that cougar. She kept creeping up closer and closer. lol!

JANA - sounds you like you have quite a crew gathering to help with your yard! Wish I could get help like that. Sorry about running out of fabric. That happened to me so much that I finally started buying 1/2 yrd more than I think I need. Of course, this leaves me with lots of leftovers!

KARLENE - happy anniversary (and birthday!) to your parents! What a blessing they are, but I'm sure they feel YOU are the blessing in their lives! Hope your fingers heal up quickly!

CINDY - we were watching Downton Abbey, too, while we could get it streamed for free. When they started charging, we stopped watching. The last episode were when Matthew was driving home from the hospital after their baby was born. They are rather carefree with their major characters' lives! That's so nice of you to take Ed some lounge clothes. Is it the disease that is making him so weak or the treatment? have they even started treatment yet? Please give them each a hug from me when you get there this weekend.

I've got the backings for two quilts almost finished and hopefully DH will put my Alaskan Sampler on the frame today. I'd like it all finished before we leave for our RV Rally a week from Sunday. I'm crossing my fingers. He's got so many other things to do outside that he's spread pretty thin.

Have a great weekend!
mary z
