Monday, May 20th
Good morning everyone.
I have finished the baby quilt. Just need to sew the binding & label on. Plus I am about halfway done quilting the very last tractor blanket. Remember those? I am not sure what will be next. I want to get involved with Quilts of Honor. So, a red, white and blue quilt just may be next. We'll see. I am hoping everyone is ok from the storms last night. I have not seen any news yet. Have a great day!!

Good morning.
As you all know I've been on this weight loss journey. I have been walking and working my way up in miles. Yesterday I did a 4 mile walk at home tape and strained my calf muscle
So I was wondering if any of you know if it is safe for me to continue to walk if I stretch it really well or should I just take time off (which I really don't want to do)
I did not get back in the sewing room all weekend. Emily and I did the neighborhood rummage sales on Saturday and yesterday was a screwed up day all around. Church didn't start until 3. The kids played volleyball first so I stayed with Tia and watched her work...nothing for me to do.(farm wife stuff, like making butter, a one person job) I played with Jovanna. Darryl stayed home and worked on the garden move and fence planning...
Well, decided I would do a simple 1 mile walk this morning with LOTS of stretching before and I'll stop if the pain gets worse.
I'll stop back later.
Vicky

Good morning! We got a lot of rain last night with the storms that rolled through much of the night. More are expected later today. The cow had already had her calf--apparently she "lost" it in the tall grass. I hope that it got its tummy full and her udder had some relief! DH will check on them both today. I'm on my way with Debby to keep her DGS occupied while she sees a doctor. I will check back later today!
Hope everyone stays safe in the storms!!!

Suzette: Maybe you should join the monthly lotto. We are doing red, white, blue stars.
That might be fun, to WIN a whole quilt full of red, white, blue.
Vicky: My son is a physical therapist and he always tell me to NOT do it, if there is pain. That’s a signal to STOP. I like to stretch sore and tight muscles while still laying in bed. That way I warm up the muscle tissue, before I put weight on them. You have done so well so far, it might work for you to just do some slow walks, or if you had the opportunity, swimming pool exercises work great too. Good Luck.
I sure hope these storms don’t hit any of our forum friends. I really feel so bad for all the folks who are in the path way. It is moving across the nation, a lot more people will be affected. We have been watching and waiting. Wonder how bad it will be when it reaches us later in the week. Sometimes these storms loose their power, but sometimes they increase and get worse and worse.
Just hope everyone stays safe!!!
Have some fun today. Sorry, Lois, I guess we were typing at the same time. Hope the new cafe is OK. I know how scary those storms can be.
Good Luck!

Re: Monday, May 20th
Good morning all.. it's been a long weekend for me.. I stayed the night with grandma Saturday night.... and thankfully slept in my own bed last night... I missed out on some much needed beauty sleep...lol
Carole, while it's nice that the Jerk is trying to be nice a leopard usually doesn't change his spots... somewhere in the bible it talks about being aware of those being too nice... I am sure he just wants her to sign something to let him off the hook... glad you met with Tina, she is someone I would like to meet too.
Chickie.. I think the bird house will look real neat... I love birds and am listening to the Robin sing now.. I wish there were a mocking bird here, they are my favorites... I don't have the Quilt mag from March 2001, drat.
O'Dorothy, if you come here you won't have to read about sleep overs you could be part of one.. but Marilyn is grounded and won't be having anyone over for a while.. she can get a bit sassy and I am going to change all that.. I am so disgusted with her bio parents, they really did her more harm than good by not parenting...
Jodie, prayers for Caleb.. keep us informed.... glad your mom is doing better and that you're posting more often, you'll have more time when school is out...
Mel, someone here used to make soap, she had us all vote on a scent then pm her and she would sell it to you.. at the time it was too pricey for me and I prefered liquid body wash to a bar of soap... but I am sure that you could do the same thing when you are ready...
Jules, sorry so much is going on.. prayers and hugs to you.. happy b-day to Charley, hope she enjoys her job..hope you get things straightened out for yoursef, you are missed.
Maryz.. how about a nice little poem or lyric to put on the baby quilt label?
Sharona, make sure we see a picture of the future baseball hall of famer... I bet he's adorable in his uniform.
Maryq.. it's good to hear from you.. seems like you've been there forever... I bet Kaya is loving the time with you.. give them both a squeeze from me.
Chickie.. there are so many new calves in the fields when I head to work.. seems like it's later than usual for them to be born.. but they are so cute.. their white is so white... and their spindly legs are cute.. I love them.
I need to get my bone density test done today.. and do grandma's banking.. other than that it's just work and home...
you all have a great day.
Chriss

Good morning!!!
Suzette - good for you re Quilts of Honor.
Lois - ditto! What are your DD's plans after graduation.
Vicky - I'm glad you were able to find a way to do a walk in spite of your injury. I've also been told to stop if I have pain by my PT (like Velda's son), but since pain is such a personal thing, how does one know when your body is really telling you to STOP? 3pm is almost my bedtime!
Miriam - boy that tall grass can hide lots of things? Glad mom and calf are ok.
Velda - these storms are awful, aren't they. I like your muscle warm-up routine.
Judi - you have another busy day today. Isn't it amazing that your DBIL is able to go to dinner, a year later? Amazing. Sorry about his grumpy days - hope tonight is a good one.
Well I didn't get to my sewing yesterday. We've been busy doing yardwork, and since it's going to be a cool week now, I think I'll give the rhubarb another week to grow before I harvest to make DH's rhubarb strawberry jelly. Today I'm off to the nursery to get the plants we decided on. I'm also praying for everyone's safety in the face of these horrible storms. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona
Chriss - I knew I was rearrangig someone's hair. That sassing back is one of my hot buttons. My boys knew they'd better be looking for a place to land if they talked back to me (as my grannny would say). Glad you were able to get some beauty sleep! Happy Monday...

Good Chilly Rainy Morning....
I really need this mug of tea this morning.... I saw a very interesting show in TV last night called North America, Tom Selleck is the narrator, and I learned that the Rocky Mt Tare so high that they effect the weather causing the bad storms in the the mid country. I didn't know that. I recommend the show. Today I'll be cleaning the inside of the car. It's not been done since last spring.
Then sewing...
Suzette.....you can never go wrong with red/white/blue & quilts of Honor.
Lois.....have a fast & smooth work day.
Vicky.....I agree with Velda, pain no walking! I'm so happy for you you are doing so well.
Chickie....LOL.....good thing that cow didn't have a multiple birth. I'm happy to see they found each other..
Velda...I'll be adding my prayers to yours for those in the path of the storms.
Judi....sounds like you have a full day. Sorry about those bathrooms.
Chriss....you are a huge blessing in Marilyn's life. I remember there was a soap maker here. Her prices were a bit high but I thought they were good for a special gift.
Love & Prayers.....Kathy

Happy Monday!
SUZ - Quilts of Valor is such a wonderful cause. I remember your tractor quilts. I don't think I'll be telling Bill about them now that he has a new tractor. He'll be wanting one, too, and I think with your new job, you're just too busy. . . .
VICKY - What kind of shoes are you wearing when you walk? I tried those sneakers with the rounded soles and fell down twice on my walks!
CHICKIE - so glad you checked in! We worried about you and Pat all night last night with the storms! We also have friends in Witchita and know another couple who are campground hosts in OK. Haven't heard yet from either of them.
VELDA - I hope the storms lose power before getting to you!
JUDI - glad to hear a report on your BIL. Will he ever drive again, do you think? I think of him often. He had his stroke right after our friend Warren. Warren will never recover from his stroke and they now live in asst'd living.
Yesterday I made my very first feathered star!! Something I've always wanted to try but every pattern I saw looked so difficult. Today, I want to make 3 more. They will be the corners of my DD's Christmas quilt. Snickers gets a blood draw today at the vet. he's still active and acts normal, but his appetite is on the wane. I feel we've really been blessed, though, as he's already outlived his 2-month life-expectancy by a month and a half.
Hope your day is sew fine!
