Good morning ladies. Yesterday was my DM & DF's 60th wedding anniversary. I gave them a quilt and they were very pleased with the gift. Tonight it's off to work for me. So I probably won't get any sewing done. Hope you all have a fabulous day.

Good morning Lori and those that follow.
It's nice out this morning but the weatherman just said storms are headed this way for tonight. After my Jacob's Ladder gets picked up I will head out to my studio. I am getting everything figured out as far as quilting and the rest of my chores. Well, let me go see what we have for breakfast. Have a great day.
Lori - have a good day at work.

Hello Lori and Suzette and who ever is the next ones to arrive!!
Can you all believe that it is Friday again???? Where do the days go??
I have decided to take a little rest on the quilt projects for the spring and summer. I am still going to work on the monthly lottos. I love that we learn new patterns and try different techniques.
I want to make more of the pot holders, and table toppers. It is fun to use up the fabric pieces. I love the pictures of the mug rugs.
I need to try my hand on a couple of those.
Mostly when it is nice weather, I love to be outside and enjoy mother nature. Also: I have a couple of beading projects to finish. Those projects got left behind when I started with my cupcake quilt.
Ok now, all of you have great days, whether you are at work, or playing in your sewing room/studio. Just give your family a big hug and tell them you love them. You may even get a nice hug back.

Good Morning, It irained during the night and a fresh smell filled the house. we still have our windows opened. (So much for washing them) I have some uglies and a climb on mt washmore. today. I pulled out a UFO my 6 inch EL's kitchen I will do a floral scalloped border and get it finished.
Had quilt guild last night and wasn't too impressed. I think some the ladies are nice but It is not what I thought a guild should be,,,I have been in it for several years and still it leaves something lacking, They spend a lot of time on "Robert's Rules" and the Meeting and have a guest speaker , Sometimes the speaker is good...and sometimes they are boring. We used to have snacks and drinks and coffee but now it isn't allowed...dues to the mess. They have a lot of money in the kitty but don't ant to spend it. So this might be my last year....do you think I am being cranky here? I like the stuff they do a couple of times a year like the chinese auction and the vendors mall. but even that isn't very exciting,. I joined for more quilting....sooo I am getting off my soap box.
Hope you all have a great day it is raining again,,,,ao I m taking my coffee to the front porch....xxxooo

Good Morning......
We got some much needed rain yesterday. I worked on my flower boxes as it poured. I'll finish them up today. I need to find brackets so I can attach them to the railing.
I finished the pillow cases for children in need so I'll be ready for the quilt guild meeting this month. I've been trying to go since Jan but one thing or an other keeps popping up.
Lori....WOW...60 years!! That is special & deserves a quilt.
Suzette....I'm having oatmeal for breakfast today. There's a chill in the air. You sound like an organized woman & you'll be in a new routine soon.
Velda....have a wonderful day, inside or out. I want to make some of those cup cake pot holders too.
Love & Prayers......Kathy

Good morning!
Lori - belated Happy Anniversary to your parents! I must have missed what quilt you made them – what a great present. Hope work isn’t too crazy tonight.
Suzette – hope the storms behave themselves. Glad you’re figuring out a routine –pretty soon it will be old hat.
Velda – how smart of you to put the outside work on the front burner! I like your idea of doing the lottos during the summer months.
Judi – I don’t think you’re being cranky at all. I wonder what they’re saving the money for. We still can’t sleep with the windows open here – the furnace is still coming on. Soon!
Kathy - you are dedicated to continue planting in the rain. I hope your guild meeting is a good one. How’s your daughter doing?
Today it’s more of the same – dejunking. My mistake is that I think that once I do it, that’s it. Nope! Have a great day and Happy Friday. xoxo Sharona

Re: May 10th, 2013
Lori - I bet your parents were very pleased with their quilt. Did you happen to take pix?
Suz - we had storms overnight, too, and we have more coming today and tomorrow. I'm glad - we NEED the rain.
Velda - I can't believe it's Friday again. Gosh, last Friday we were in Atlanta. That was a very fast weekend. Beading is just gorgeous. I've seen it done on quilts and it was stunning - very heavy, but stunning nonetheless. What do you bead?
Judi - you are cranky today! LOL LOL Just teasing. What are "Robert's Rules"? Does your guild do charity quilts? Ours has several different groups for charity quilts. We have a couple of quilt shop owners as members so they open up their shop for classes by our guest speakers - this week it was Karen Kay Buckley - and they also have classes on their own. I don't participate in any classes or quilting bees because I work but I do bring home a quilt to bind every now and then that the charity bee has done. We usually have pretty good speakers - one lady from Sulky thread a few months ago and that was interesting. Last month the speaker was Bonnie Hunter. I think our guild is pretty big - about 385 members. So we have a lot of money to bring in great speakers. We also have show-and-tell which is my favorite part of the meeting. They show quilts from the simplest Rail Fence to very detailed and extravagant ones. Maybe you could start a bee where a group gets together to actually sew. We have a quilt show with vendors and all every other year.
Kathy - good for you. You are so dedicated to work on your flower boxes in the rain. I bet they'll look pretty.
I'm at work blah blah blah. Every Friday the donut fairy comes so today I had donuts for breakfast. Gosh, they are sinful! My DD is coming to town tonight and will be with me until about 1:00 tomorrow. Tomorrow is my oldest DGS's birthday so we will take him to dinner. My oldest DD might get permission to come here for just one day so I will pick her up from the bus station on Sunday morning and take her to see her son. Doesn't sound like I'll get much sewing done this weekend, does it? GRRRRRR And I'm so pumped to sew.
I hope everyone can fondle some fabric today.

Re: May 10th, 2013
Good morning! It’s cloudy here, but not much chance of rain. DH and I had a “play day” yesterday. I went to town with him, an Ace reward coupon in hand—there I found four perennials (astilbe-2 and coral bells-2) and a magenta geranium. He ran some errands, and the dogs went with us; the cab of his little Ranger was FULL!!! The dogs love going to the bank for treats—too funny! Like they don’t get any treats at home… LOL! After planting, we took a walk on one of the trails then rode around looking at the wildflowers and the creek which is flowing into the big lake. In dry months, there is no water. It’s beautiful both times!
Velda—I want to start making more smaller projects, too! I have all the blocks from several swaps and need to put them together. When Debby and I get practiced on the Gammill, I want to have them ready to quilt. With gardening (both of us) and her golf, we don’t get much done on the Gammill now. It may be a fall/winter project.
Lori—congratulations to your parents!!! Know they will enjoy your special gift!
Judi—Sorry to hear your guild isn’t what you hoped it would be… I think the “quilting” is usually accomplished in smaller “bees” that meet in addition to the larger guild. Does your guild have any of those? Good luck!
I hope everyone has a great day! I’m going to be getting ready for my annual Mother’s Day breakfast here. We hope that it will be warm enough to have everyone out on the deck—forecast is mostly sunny and high of 68. Guess we will play it by ear that morning before setting up the tables and chairs

Cindy--did you enjoy Karen Buckley? I use her scissors all the time!!! Hope she was a good speaker! It's nice to be in a guild that has lots of money and members!!! I think the smaller ones have more difficulties. I was in a smaller guild, and we went in with area guilds to bring in national speakers. We all chipped in on travel and loding, then the speaker stayed and made rounds of the guilds for a few days.

Good Morning!
LORI - congratulations to your parents. What a wonderful heritage to follow!
SUZ - happy dance on finishing the jacobs ladder and it's off to the quilter!
VELDA - Good luck with not sewing through the summer. I can't stay away from my machine. I just can't.
JUDI - This is one reason why I don't search out a guild. DH and I used to belong to a dance club. The meetings got so out of hand with rules, regulations, and the like, that the fun of dance was forgotten. I hope you don't come to that in your club but sometimes that's the way it goes.
KATHY - you're building your own flower boxes? What a woman!
SHARONA - the first year I decided to dejunk our house took me a full 2 weeks and i went through every single drawer, cupboard, closet, nook, and cranny. And I've done it every year since though now it only takes me about a week. Where does it all come from???
CINDY - your guild is huge! I did belong to a Sit and Sew group last summer where everyone just took their current hand project and sewed while they visited. It was about 18 members at any given time. No rules or anything. But even they had arguments and split up while I was gone this past winter!
CHICKIE - I think it's so neat that your big lovely family comes to your Mother's and Father's Day breakfasts! I'd adopt myself into the family if I lived closer! And Ladies, I've met almost all of Chickie's family and they are wonderful! but they were all in Halloween costumes and I never saw them "normal", so they will forever be engraved in my mind as those characters. Especially her DS#!
Jim has had one full day at home. He's in a lot of pain and isn't wearing his neck brace as he should. He was in a LOT of pain last night, and DH - who was there installing grab bars - said he was white as a sheet. (well, not MY sheets, but some people's sheets.) Terry got his pain Rx filled and hopefully that allowed him to sleep and get the pain under control. People always tend to overdo when they come home from the hospital.
today we are packing a picnic lunch and going to spend the day in Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park with our friends. Not sure if we can expect snow still at the high elevations. so we need to pack warm, though it's going to be about 80 at home (sea level).
Happy sewing!
