Good morning Pals
It is almost Sunday and I am up so I thought I would come in a say "Hi". Yesterday was the hardest day of the week. We got up to 93 which isn't to bad ... but with no swamp cooler or AC I was dragging so much and trying to keep my cool (moodwise) because I asked DH to do the coolers a couple of weeks ago before it got way to hot - Ugh!!! Procrastination. It is 64 outside and 82 inside and allt he windows are open and all I can think about is visiting MaryQ :) :) Bolts in the Bathtub was having a yardsale yesterday and extended it to today also because they are moving and don't want to take it with them to the new store but I spent my budget on the trip north. I am happy with what I got on my travels though so i am not crying to bad.
Been working on Linda's McKenna quilt, finishing up Valerie's very springy quilt and a tabletopper that has a scalloped binding that is being a pain but coming out fairly OK. The scallops are 2" apart and not very deep but it is a very pretty FigTree tabletopper. There has got to be a trick to this. I have tried it 2 different ways but just not getting as clean a scallop as what I am thinking I should be able to get. Maybe my perfectionism is showing, oh wait I am not perfect so I am good :) :) :) It is very true that if you are gone for a few days you will miss much and I am still not caught up on all.

Chickie - LA machine? I am thrilled for you and your friend that you have a new toy and I know your will have loads of FUN but will most definitely miss loving on all your creative works of art. Prayers for Odie and for you. My heart goes out to you both.

Karlene - can't wait to see your quilts when they are finished. I love blueberry pancakes and treat myself sometimes when they have them at the airport.

Chriss - Your son is very handsome and will be fun to watch him find that special girl. Hope Marilyn had a great time at the sleepover.

Tina - prayers for you and the doctors. I would send you a tortoise but it is illegal to even touch them. HUGE fines!!

Suzette - Isn't it so much fun to plug away with cotton.

ScrappyPat - I like CW and your Log Cabin will look awesome in those fabrics.

Maryz - be very careful cleaning your sewing room. Take pictures before you move anything and then take notes as to where you moved them - ROTFLOL - I still can't find things I know I have. I definitely miss my thread picker. I will bring the lemon pie though to help :) :) :)

I know I have missed many but the night is still young, the fingers are starting to stumble, the man is away doing his sleep apnea test. I am hearing all the creaks and bumps that go on at night and I want to finish the tabletopper before he comes home at 6am unless I freak myself out - LOL!!!!

Hope you have a BLESSED SUNDAY!!!! HUGE HUGS to you all!!

Good morning Teresa. Wow, 93, I would have been miserable! Me and heat do NOT get along. I like my AC on when it gets around 70 degrees outside! LOL I'll have to keep that in mind for later this week...looks like we are forcast to reach the low 70s this week.

Well, so far, no sewing this weekend. I did make another batch of soap, though. Can't wait to see how it turns out. The first batch I made, back in March, was just a no-frills basic soap. Didn't even have a chance to put in the good-smelling stuff before it got too thick on me. LOL It sure does lather up good, though. I was able to color this batch and add the fragrance--Pinot Grigio. Smells wonderful. I hope it doesn't fade. I ordered some supplies online and they sent me a fragrance sample, so that is what I used.

DGS has swimming lessons on Sunday, so my weekends are now cut short by one day. He sure is enjoying his time at the "Y", so I guess I won't begrudge it! LOL So.....I just may get some sewing done tomorrow...well, I guess that is really today seeing as how it is almost 2 a.m. LOL

Chickie, poor Odie! I sure hope he gets to feeling better soon. Give him a belly rub for me.

Well, I best head off to bed. I'll check back later.

Hope you all have a blessed day.

Hugs,
Mel

Good morning Mel, Teresa and those that follow.
Our neighbor's little boy's party started at 3 and was still going at 11. He is only 2. Needless to say we didn't stay. We went to a new burger place for dinner. They had the creamest soft serve ice cream I have ever had! It is a chain called Freddy's. If you ever see one and have the chance try it. Today I am locking myself in my studio and get work done on the Jacob's Ladder blocks. Right now it is 39 degrees outside. I am glad I didn't turn off the heat yet. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Suzette, Mel and Teresa.

Miriam sorry to hear about Odie. Hope he's feeling better soon. That's sounds like a nightmare.

Suzette it's hard to believe it's so cold there. It's been in the 80's and 90's this week. It's supposed to cool down starting today.

Teresa I hope you get your A/C up and running soon. Looks like it's going to be hot for you all week.

Mel hope you get a few stitches in at some point today.

I've been tending to DH and working. His back went out and he can barely walk. Hopefully it will get better soon. I working a double on Monday and I'm tired just thinking about it.

Maryq sounds like the little one will be here soon.

Maryz, you crack me up with the comment about the cats age. I never thought of it that way. lol

Back to work for me.
Lori

Good Morning Girls

Happy Sunday! Was such a beautiful day yesterday, even tho I spent it inside at work... some more snow melted and it warmed up to about 47* , but you won't believe this... it's snowing again this morning! This is surely the winter that never ends! May get up to 47 again today, but there sure won't be any sunshine! Looks nasty windy out my window too!

Teresa... OH PLEASE send some of that heat up here! Can't say I'm a huge fan of 93*, but at least it would melt the snow fast! How did Rob do on his sleep study? My Dr recommended one for me about 5 years ago... just haven't gotten around to it yet! I know I snore, so it's probably a good thing I sleep alone! Come on up any time!!!

ScrappyPat.. you can get a 16yo boy to quilt? How awesome is that??

Chickie... so sorry about your little Odie!! Poor thing.. That's terrible about getting stuck in a trap. Do you actually eat the mushrooms you find? Not a fan of mushrooms, so you won't have to share with me. One of my co-workers got me to try a Brussel Sprout the other day--- YUUUUUUCCCKKKK

Mel.... sounds like you are having fun making soap!! Great little gifts ideas.. hint hint.. my birthday is in November!

Suzette... 39 In Virginia!!! Yikes... good thing you left the heat on!!

Velda... yes I am on the count down to AK. 18 more days! I leave here on the 9th of May and will return on the 25th--leave Anchorage on the 25th and get into Minneapolis on the 26th at 7:00am! Good thing my son offered to pick me up from the airport! Think I'll get my suit case down when I get home from work tonite, it's in the garage and will need some cleaning up for sure!

So, has this ever happened to you guys... you run into Joann to just pick up thread and you end up with a cart full of fabric you don't need? I stopped there last night on my way home from work just to get more thread for Kayla's quilt and ended up spending $78.!! All I needed was thread!!! But they had flannel for $2.99/yd! Who could pass that up... and I walked by this gorgeous piece of fabric and it jumped right in my cart, so of course I had to get a "play mate" for it! Guess I am more addicted than I thought!

Well, time for me to get in gear and get ready for work.. 2 more days! then a day off! YIPEE.

Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Sure hope Odie will heal fast!!! Poor little guy. Can't imagine how scared he was.

Teresa: Enjoy your heat. We are sure wishing it would warm up here.
Good luck with all your projects.

To all others here and to come, hope your Sunday is relaxing and filled with the soft touch of cotton.

Hugs
Velda

Good morning!

I know this will not suprise any of you, but I am running LATE and need to get my hiney ready for church so this will be short.

Miriam - our poor little Odie. Sure hope he heals up quickly. How's the LA doing?

Maryz - how are your patients doing? I was in shock when I finally read what happened. That's a lot to deal with.

Teresa - I don't do heat either. Yuck - sure hope the coolers get installed soon.

Mel - I love homemade soap. One of my DDIL's sent me a batch for Mother's Day a couple of years ago. You are so creative!

Suzette - sure hope that little boy wasn't up until 11! Happy stitching to you.

Lori - nice to 'see' you!

Pat - have fun with your quilting entourage.

Maryq - you have inspired me to stop at Joann's after church to see what jumps in my basket. Your vacation is sneaking up on me quickly. I hope you're going to send us pictures of the baby and everything...

Velda - I'll be touching cotton today - sure hope you will as well.

We are getting snow again tonight - must 3" and most of it will melt as it hits the ground. I did finish cleaning out the spice cabinet and the pantry - wahoo! I think I've earned some time in my sewing room. Have a blessed Sunday! xoxo Sharona

Good morning... skating was so much fun yesterday.. those kids really know how to have fun just going around in circles on wheels..

there were 10 girls and they all needed help tying their skates...a couple had never skated before and had it pretty well mastered by the end of the 2 hour session... can't wait to pick up Marilyn and hear about the rest of the night..

Karlene.. I am not sure how my son feels about my seting him up with forum granddaughters..I haven't heard from him since I told him about it..lol... actually he is in the middle of helping kids with their critters for the fair so I won't hear from him for a little while... often times I have wished the granddaughters lived closer to us.. they come from good families...

Chickie.. I am sorry about Odie's mishap.. why are there traps set what are they trying to catch...glad Odie's got you..

Teresa, sorry it's so hot.. I remember when we didn't have AC I used to drive my son around in the car with the AC on just to cool him off... I also hear every noise when Jerry isn't home.. thankfully they are here more than they are away...

Mel how cool that DGS is having swim lessons.. as much water as there is around it is great that he will be able to swim and not sink...the soap sounds fun...what smell are you using next.?

Suzette, you would think with the 80's and 90's on this end of the country and your 30's and 40's over there that someone in the center of the US would have the perfect weather..but your cold mixes with my hot and just gives the center hummidity.. makes no sense...lol

Lori, sorry about the double.. hope it's either very busy and goes by quickly or uneventful...

Scrappy Pat... have fun with the family today..cool that DGS likes the quilt machine...gives you time to visit.

Maryq.. I think you should have the sleep study.. it's not all about snoring.. it's about your windpipe closing off while you sleep and you gasping and waking up... in my study I woke up every 56 seconds. the sleep apnea test saved me.. and I had the problem for years before I went to have it fixed... now I won't sleep with out my CPAP machine...you so sound like Marilyn when it comes to veggies..and yes, what happened to you at Joanns' has happened to me before.. I am not sure it's an epidemic, just a virus going around...lol

Velda, I am off to touch cotton... my cabin blocks should be done and ready to mail today... woo hoo...

Tina.. I sure have been thinking of you a lot.. wanted to let you know that...

Sharona, hope your after church sewin goes well..

ok, where has Carole been..... and where is Sharon and how is she doing with her grandkids....

and now I'm off to sew.. I pick up Marilyn in just over 2 hours so I need to get dressed and go to my room while I can....

you all have a super duper day,
Chriss

Good Morning!

TERESA -93 degrees! It's only April! Hope you get your A/C up and running soon! When it's so hot here - about every 5 yrs - I hang quilts or thick blankets over the windows. It really helps to keep it cool in here. Lemon pie!! Bring it on!

MEL - I can't imagine soap smelling like pinot grigio. But it sounds lush! It's great that your little DGS is learning to swim. Won't it be nice to have some warmer temps this week? I'm ready!

SUZETTE - That was some party for a 2 yr old! My mom LOVED soft serve ice cream. And she taught her daughter to love it as well. YUM! Hope you get out to you studio today!

LORI - you mentioned working a double and now I'm tired, too! Oh, I remember those days! And not too fondly, either! Hope your DH is soon up and around.

PAT - sounds like a fun day with your DD and DGS. So cool that he quilts!

MARY Q - Impulse fabric shopping? ME??? Never happens here! lol!! I can't even type that with a straight face!

VELDA - You have a nice Sunday, too.

CHICKIE - Give Odie a hug and a scritch for me! He's such a sweetie-dog. Does he seem in much pain?

Yesterday I got my 25"x30" landscape quilt quilted. Today, on goes the binding! And I hope to get the purple fairy baby quilt I made last month on the frame for DH to quilt. He has a fairy pattern that should be perfect for it. And we'll be visiting my brother and stopping at Joann's to look at fabric for our trailer curtains. And that should fill our day nicely!

Hope your Sunday is purrfect!
