Wednesday 17 April

Post by Jules » Tue Apr 16, 2013 8:55 pm

Morning girls

Just had a quick read through to try and catch up......Maryz so glad you got some hand squeezes from your brother :) so encouraging, Teresa glad you had a wonderful trip and all those quilt stores - yum :) Jana I hope Ethan is feeling better now, Chickie congrats in getting the old Gammill working, sounds like it was a good trip ......I know there are more who need prayers for themselves and family members but I can't remember who needs what but rest assured as I read each need I passed my prayers onto the Lord for you each individually and I include you all collectively xx

Well I picked my mew car up on Monday, it's lovely, Charley went back to Brighton n Monday :( but she finishes in 6 weeks, so near the end for her now :) I went to Chris's yesterday and helped her make a bag for one of her granddaughters and today I am going to chill at home, DH is out at meetings all day so I am going to get reacquainted with myself and my studio :) also I'll be watching Maggies funeral on tv, I just hope certain idiots don't try to show their dislike of her during the procession, it would be awful for her children and grandchildren to have to see anything like that - we are going up to London tonight for dinner with some friends, I think all the roads are due to reopen about 5pm so it shouldn't be a problem driving through London later

I'm still in shock at the Boston bombings, I despise these cowards who are happy to maim/kill innocent people for their 'cause'........prayers go out to all affected, the rescue services, the city of Boston and USA in general, after 9/11 it must rock you all terribly when you hear bombing or terrorism over the airwaves, I know it sends chills through me.......of course we are all a little worried about Maggies funeral today and we have the London Marathon on Sunday........praying for safety for everyone

Love and prayers to you all, will try and pop back later to see you all xxxx

Hi Jules. Enjoy your sewing time. Hope all goes well with the funeral.

Lois, I'm working on my hexies too. I was just finishing up the fisrt part of my second row. The quilt is finially coming together. Slowing.

I had a nice day off. Didn't get a lot done, but that's okay. There's always tomorrow...or rather later today.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone.
We had a really hard rain storm during the night. It was so weird when it ended. It just stopped. Like turning off the faucet at a sink. Usually it just slows down and stops. Today is another day of no sewing. It is the day they bury my brother in-law's ashes. We have people coming here before and after. Hubby's nephew (son of the man who passed) is not coming. There have been some issues between him and his stepmom (the widow). He was at the funeral and most of us feel that is OK. Well, night before last one of his cousins found out that he was coming and called his giving a bunch of grief about it. It sure would be nice if people would keep their opinions to themselves. We don't always have to share everything. Have a great day.

Good morning all! I've been out of touch for a little a while and can't exactly say why. Sometimes life just happens. I got elected to be secretary to my quilt guild, we get sworn in on Thursday. So that will be interesting.

I did finally get my Victory quilt quilted and the binding on, just need to sew it down. Got my son's graduation invites, need to mail those out this week.

My DD is still throwing up, but overall she's feeling pretty good. She goes in later this month for an ultra sound, she doesn't want to know what the sex is yet. She wants to have a gender reveal party in a few months after they do a couple ultra sounds and get it right!

I think I sort of lost my mojo, so right now I'm re-organizing my stash, sorting my scraps into bins, strips, squares/charms, triangles almost a fat quarter and fat quarter bins. Right now its just a mess. I'll have to post a pix and show you the before & after!

Sending prayers and hugs to all

Traci

Good Morning Girls

Back to work for me today... day 1 of six in a row! I'm always nervous when I got back to work after a day off... wonder what trouble I will be in when I walk in this morning. Did have a great day off... got almost all of Kayla's quilt quilted, until I ran out of thread, made a tote bag, took a nap, cleaned the kitchen. There's a couple new tutorials at MSQCo. so I watched those. One is for a darling sail boat quilt I just might have to try... someday! Another for a darling little girl skirt made from charms! The sun was out most of the day and a lot of the snow has melted, but we're supposed to get rain today that may turn into snow tomorrow! Double YUCK!

Jules... Prayers for Ms. Thatcher and her family today, I hope the crazies stay away. She was a classy lady and I'd sure hate for people to make a mess of this day to honor her. Six weeks for Charley to be done with school? I'm sure they can't go fast enough for her! Have you ever looked at GOOGLE EARTH? I looked up Surrey England on it the other day and can see the area where you live. How far a drive is it to London? Hope you have a lovely dinner with friends.

Suzette... how awful that your nephew won't come to the service today, or that somebody made him feel that he shouldn't be there. May be God knew you needed a nice day today so He turned off the rain.

Maryz... how is Jim doing this morning? Have they been able to take him off the resp. yet? When do you expect your BIL to arrive from CO. Good news that he could squeeze your hand.. that's a good sign that he is still IN THERE!

Lois... hope you end up with a wonderfully lazy day! I bought the movie "Les Miserables" the other day, and one of these days I'm going to be super lazy and just sit and watch it.... if I can do it without feeling super guilty. Maybe I'll just keeping knitting baby hats while I watch it then I wouldn't feel quite so bad.

Lori.... that's my theory... there's always tomorrow... or the next weekend or the one after that.

Traci...sorry to hear you DD is still throwing up! Gosh I remember those days... But good to hear that she is feeling good otherwise. How about I send you my scraps and you can organize them for me ! LOL. I have at least 2 huge tote boxes full of them and I think it would take me weeks to get them organized! Another thing on my "to do" list.

Guess I better get in gear, shower and stuff and find something to take for lunch.

There's still time to sign up for the NAME THE BABY contest over in Swaps...

Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Jules - good to see you. Gosh, Charlie is almost finished already. Glad you like your car. Why do people not like Margaret Thatcher? I sure hope nothing drastic happens.

Lois - dear, I'm so sorry they roped you into doing hexies. You are having fun so that's what matters, right?

Lori - How big (or small) are your hexies? Gluttons for punishment, I tell you!

Suzette - you are so right. There are times that people should just shut the heck up and a funeral is one of those times. I think the nephew should come - it was his dad that passed. And there you are in the middle.

Traci - congrats on being the secretary of your guild. Can't wait to see your pix. I love before and after.

Maryq - that's why I like to have handwork to do - so when I sit on my lard butt and watch TV I'm not just sitting there like a bump on a pickle. I'm actually accomplishing something. I do not work on handwork while watching "Revenge" - I'm having a hard time keeping up with that show - it's so complex.

Last night I started making another 4 log cabins to put together to make a big block to applique in the middle of. Did that and fixed dinner and that's it. Must continue the laundry tonight - UGH.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good Morning,

JULES - I can't believe Charley is so close to finishing her education! any word on jobs yet? You must be so proud! she's a special young lady. I, too, hope that The Ugly Folk will pull in their pitchforks and let the funeral proceed. She was such a great lady. Enjoy your dinner in London tonite.

LOIS - I think Chriss's hexies are 2-1/2". And wasn't Jules working on 5-1/2"? Mine are 1/4" but are put away for now because I have too many other hand stuff going on, and one project is a Christmas one for my DD.

LORI - what are you doing with your hexies?

SUZETTE - it's so sad when family can't set their issues aside even for a memorial for a person they all loved.

TRACI - nice to 'see' you! Playing with your fabric and looking at quilt books and mags is a way to get your mojo back. That and having a new grandbaby to quilt for! You have the best of all inspirations!

MARY Q - wow, heading into a 6-day stretch after only one day off. That's pretty rough! I saw the play Les Miserables and I thought it was depressing. I much prefer comedies!

My bro MIGHT get extubated today. Hooray!! If not today, then maybe tomorrow. Then maybe they can get an OG tube down him. They try every shift to insert one. He hasn't had his Parkinson's meds for a week now. If he misses even one dose, he suffers so much more from the symptoms. If they could get the tube down, they could give him his meds. They aren't IV meds.

My sister is improving and will be here until Friday. Still on crutches, but in less pain now. Her DH is snowbound so he's not coming after all. She'll fly home next week.

I thank you again for all your prayers. I do believe you've helped my family immensely!!

Good morning...I am up a little later than ususal because I am taking a vacation day.. it's my quilt class day.. I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa.. the clock is going by so slow...

the winds here were awful yesterday.. blew a few things around and Marilyn saw part of a tin roof fly by at school and knew it was going to take her class to Oz.. she had never experienced that kind of wind I guess... so she was very frightened.. strange the things she has and hasn't expreienced..

Judi, sorry the packing is taking so long.. make sure you say to DD... see, this is what happens when you move you have to pack, unpack, and repack.. so once she gets home NO MORE MOVING... hope she's learned her lesson...lol

Maryz.. great news that your brother squeezed your hand... bet he just improves from here..

Jana.. a July class?? what are you going to make? I didn't realize you prepare so far in advance.. will it include hexi's...(sorry, couldn't resist, besides I know Cindy will read this and laugh too) hope Ethan is feeling much better.

Maryq.. did you sew yesterday? funny a bout Evie not wanting to brush her teeth.. I bought Marilyn a toothbrush that has music in it.. it uses a AA battery and plays a song.. the idea is to brush till the music is done.. which makes two issues.. she wants to be done brushing so bad that she doesn't play the music and is done in a nano second and when she does play the music she holds the brush in her mouth in one spot and dances.. ugh.

Chickie.. what a fun time you had.. how cool to go to Gammil... so? did you all set up the machine and play with it yet? what a great chick trip.

Karlene, our lilac bush is loaded with flowers.. hope the rain goes away.. if you can get here quickly you can go to my class with me, we can hit some used book stores on the way...tempting huh?

Lori, I love that you had no plans yesterday and did whatever you wanted.... thanks for not leaving me behind...are you making a specific hexi pattern?

Jules, congrats on the new car.. bet Charley will be glad when school is over so she can teach it...hope all goes well forthe funeral and marathon.. enjoy your sew day..

Lois.. you go girl with those hexi's... they are fun, and such a great take along project.. it took me a while to figure out how to do it but I am so hooked.. I love the shape too...

Suzette, sorry the nephew and stepmom have issues..hope all goes smoothly today.

Traci, a gender reveal shower sounds very cool...your sewing room does sound like a mess but I bet it will be wonderful very soon.

Maryq.. hope your day is quick and painless today...

Cindyg.. your log cabin will be so pretty, does it have a medallion in hte center? what will it be? I love hand work while watching tv too.. it's amazing how much you can get done when you don't pay attention to what you're doing... yesterday I got to work a little early and put so many hexi's together, it was fun.. funfun

Maryz.. my hexi's are one inch.. they finish at two inches.. my charms I am using to make my hexi's are 2 1/2 inches.. glad your brother is improving so well.. and that your sis is ok to go home and have her knee fixed..

I am in serious need of a shower.. I am feeling better today but not great yet... but it won't stop me from class...

hope you all have a super day,
Chriss
