Good Morning Lois
That's nice a visit from Sandy and Olivia today.
What better visit than a fabric day.
Have fun and tell them I said HI.
We are going out today to get some shrubs
to replace some that we lost from the storm.
Have a nice day everyone

Good morning everyone.
We are up early this morning to make a test run down to Arlington Cememtary. I will probably have people following me and I want to make sure where to go etc. I finished the friend quilt and posted pictures. They were taken in the sun yesterday so the pretty colors don't show up well. But, you get the idea. Have a great day.

I got up and did a 2 mile walk with Leslie. I was doing the 3 mile but I have decided it is a little much for me.
I finished the top and posted pictures in yesterdays sew-in. Then last night I sat down and drew the corner applique pattern. It will be abeautiful quilt when it's done, I only wished she would have let me put a little pink or blue in it. I think the flowers would have looked better then all that brown.
Church today is an hour drive away. So I have to run and get busy. Going to make a HUGE salad to take, as that is now my main dish
Keep looking up!
Vicky

Maryz: I sure hope your brother is doing well.
Vickie: Great quilt pictures. Love the pictures of the living room, looks so inviting.
I have a question that just popped up, looking at Vickie's quilt. I hope that some of you can help me figure out what to do. I have been working on my cupcake quilt. I have it in 5 column sections, which is how I am going to quilt and assemble. This part of the quilt will be about 53 x 57 inches. Not quite the finished size I was hoping for.
I loved Vickie's plan of making applique in the corners. What do you think of me adding a few wide strips on each side of my cupcake quilt to make it the size I need. Then putting some cupcake appliques in the borders. Maybe just the corners, ???? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Re: Sunday April 14,2013
good morning.
Vicky, your room is very pretty, I love the yellow and white combo and have always wanted a yellow house... your quilt is also pretty, your DD will be thrilled to have it, I know you wish it had more color but I really think it's pretty..
Sandy, I didn't think you'd be an anti hexi-ist.. now I know we need to tug on your sleeve too...lol
Judi, you'll be home soon and your house will be full of grands.. it's good to be you.
Maryz.. glad your brother went through surgery well.. hope his healing process is quick and easy...
Lois, what is your DGD making? what grade is she in? you make sure we see a picture of the finished project so we can oooh and awwww..
Dolores... happy planting.
Suzette, your quilt is pretty... nice of you to make a test drive to the cemetary.. when we had to go out of town to a funeral the person we were following flew to the church and we almost got lost.. bet he never once looked in hsi rear view mirror...
Velda.. I think your idea of adding borders is great.. you could do applique cupcakes just in the borders or you could make smaller cupcakes and put then along the borders some leaning on the left some on the right and some flad on their bottoms...kind of like they are dancing down and across the borders.. you could even buy fabric with cupcakes on it (I've seen it in magazines) and cut those cupcakes out to applique.. sounds like it will be a fun quilt.
Yesterday I went into town to buy tennis shoes.. I went to Big5 sporting goods and they had some great clearance tenni's... $20 a pair.. so I bought Jerry and myself two pairs each.
Marilyn stayed the night at her friends last night..she really is having fun having friends.. I will pick her up at 10am today..
and right now I will shower and go play in my room.. I want to get those cabins done and ready to mail in... the swap signups end on the 17th if anyone is still considering it.. I did make a couple of extra of each block just incase..
hope you all have a super duper day,
Chriss

Good Morning!
LOIS - How exciting to think your DGD will actually learn some sewing in school! I think that pleases us all!!
DELORES - have fun shrub shopping! DH wants to plant a bunch more rhodedendrons in our yard. He loves them. But there's a roof to pay for first . . .
SUZ - Oh, I've seen Arlington, the most peaceful cemetery ever. And one of the saddest. How smart of you to make a test run! How far is it from your house?
VICKY - your quilt is beautiful! Even in all brown, it's striking. Perhaps for the flowers you could use different shades of brown . . .
VELDA - this is where quilters get creative! I think your idea would look great!
CHRISS - oh, I like your idea of dancing cupcakes! Or of using cupcake fabric. I have a few scraps left from two different cupcake patterns I've used in the past and it's really cute.
My brother had a stable night. He is still on the ventilator because he has so much neck swelling that they are afraid if they pull the air-tube, it will close off his trachea and they won't be able to get it back in. He responds to commands when they lighten the sedation and he can move everything he's supposed to. Can't ask for more than that!
My sis seems to be in less pain. But will be on crutches until she gets back to CO and has surgery herself. Her husband is leaving today to drive up to take her back. Though he'll stay around with us for a while to visit and to help out the family.
Today? I would love a little cotton therapy, but I don't know if that will happen yet. But soon!
Hope your day is purr-ific!

Re: Sunday April 14,2013
Good Morning from frozen Minnesota. A little more snow on the cars...but the roads look ok. We are heading to the mudeum about 12 today, I have bread dough rising and it will keep till we get home.,..it is the 12 to 18 hour recipe. Kids are excited to go to the museum today, everyone s eating breakfast and getting ready.
Ok Here is my take on the HEXXIE-WAR.
1. Hexxies are portable
2. You can stop and start any time.
3. EPP (english paper piecing) is so easy my 2 year old grand daughter was wrapping scraps around paper and handing them to me.
4. Any time you cannot sew becuase of other things going on you can do hexxies...like in the waiting room of all places you go.
5. Hexxies put the PEACE in Piecing.
6. You can use up all those pieces of fabric you love just make hexxies and stash them in a baggie. soon you will have enough for a mug rug, a placemat, a table runner,,,,maybe even a quilt.
Ok it is still hand work....but very relaxing hand work,,,very precise piecing made easy.
Still not sold...It is cheap too. I make my own papers by the hundreds for only pennies.
Down off the soap box.....love to all hope your sunday is blessed...mine just was coming here, XXXOOO

Good morning all,
It looks like rain in our forecast today. I may unplug if it storms.
I am not anti-hexi, just not sure I want to start another project until I finish some or a lot of the ones I have now. Of course if I go to the lake for a week, with no sewing machine, I may be reconsidering..or not. I do wish everyone that is doing them a great time and lots of them.
better get moving. It is Sunday after all.
Sandy, off to sing God's praises

Good morning!
I have my lesson done for today and DH is working on his - Church is in a couple of hours - so I am about half ready! LOL
Hexies - bah-humbug! I took a class on piecing quilt tops all by hand sewing - no sewing machines were allowed! UGGH! Never did make that quilt! Just the one block in class. When my mom was here - she would do all my hand sewing for me - hems on dresses, etc, well now she is gone, so about all the hand work I do is binding and crocheting. plus I have fat fingers - couldn't hold all those little itty bitty tiny pieces! LOL I have enough problems not fat fingering the keys on the computer!
Not much going on here - DS2 and family may make a appearance later this afternoon after Church. I babysat them yesterday, so the parents could go and measure the model of the new house - so they can make all the decisions on the must haves and the I would likes, in the new house, without breaking the bank.
Well I need to get last night's dishes cleaned up - so the house is presentable again!
Have a great day
Hugs
Jana
Forgot - DS2's wife, Crenda - is a high school teacher - home econ is her specialty - they do teach it here in Utah and the high schools all have Gammill LA's in each school for the students and teachers to use. One of the members of my Ward here - teaches woodshop - all the fancy tools too - she even made all the cabinets in her shop at school!
