Good morning Pals
had a great day yesterday with Cindy getting her quilt all sandwiched and ready for handquilting. I was glad I was able to do this with her so that she can finish this quilt. We have lots of plans for future quilts but are keeping each other accountable to FINISH what we are working on before we start a new one - LOL!!!!
Today is the day we start our journey North for Shop hopping, wedding and visiting Valerie. We are both sew EXCITED!!!! I am apprehensive about the driving/riding but I have my hexies ready, my Jenifer Chiaverini book with me and am BOING to see everyone. Will miss you all as I don't know if I will be near a computer. Lotto Pals - No slacking off while I am gone - LOL!!!
I hear bad weather is heading east so prayers for all of you to keep warm and safe. The massive winds finally died down but caused a lot of accidents and everywhere I turn I see a new place the dirt collected in my house - I forgot to close the shower window - Ugh!
My sister said she read bad reviews from JoAnn's about Kona Cotton. What have you experienced????
I am off to bed but not sure I will sleep - LOL!!!

hi all, just back in from work... i was out all day working yesterday, then got a call to do a 'sleep over' last night. i was up a couple of time still, but working all day today too...
hopefully i will keep awake!!! lol...

i'm getting on with my 6" cabin blocks right now, just have to blanket stitch everything down and they're done then just to sew down all my cabins

Good morning everyone.
Well, I got the friend quilt quilted yesterday and the binding is sewn together. After my job interview I will come home and get going on finishing up the quilt. I went out to let the dogs in this morning and you sure can smell the rain but the weatherman says it 30% chance of it. We'll see. Have a great day.

Teresa - have a safe trip. Which Jennifer Chiaverini book are you reading? I am just starting Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker. I have used the Kona cotton some and noticed that it ravels easily.

Good Morning... I think, and I've already said this before, spring is finally here but it's masking itself as summer this time.. it should be in the 70's all week.

Judi, what's the name of the hexi book... look for the new quiltmaker magazine, it has scads of hexi stuff in it.. mine recently came in hte mail.

Teresa, have a great packing for the trip day...hope you get to stop at alot of those shops along the way.. make sure to give us reviews, especially for the ones north of me...I don't travel south too very often...if you find a great shop let me know...

Lois, do you have a hexi pattern in mind or are you going to wing it? let me know what you think of the mylar pieces.

Jacquie.. hope you can stay awake too... I have some 6 inchers that need sewing and then can start on my cabins.. I keep tracing the cabin block in my mind to see if I can do a blanket stitch all around without having to backtrack or pick up my needle and scoot over to a new spot...

Suzette, best of luck on the interview... I would love to read the dressmaker book one day, and I won't buy any more Kona cotton at Joanns.. the last I bought was for the autograph block swap...

now it's time to get ready for work.. the powerball lottery started in Cali last night so we each played our numbers.. $6 later we are not zillionaires so I have to work..such is life...

Good Morning Girls

Or it would be a good morning if I could crawl back into bed! It's a Winter Wonderful outside this morning. Snowing Like CRAZY. I was so hoping the weatherman would be wrong--or just kidding. It started snowing last nite just after I got home from work and I bet we have a good 3-4" already. Should make an interesting drive to work this morning. For sure I'm NOT getting on the freeway! Will take my sweet time and go the back roads. A couple co-workers have already posted on FB that they made it to work, so I guess I better suck it up too and try to at least get there on time! Doesn't look like they have closed schools here yet, and I see the plow going by! If you want to see snow.... go to KARE11.com and click on "Traffic" then click on "CAMERAS"

Teresa.... I hope you have a most wonderful weekend! Lots of LQS shopping and fun with Valerie! I have 3 lotto blocks done, but hope to finish up this weekend.

Chriss.... Oh how I would love temps in the 70's..this winter thing is getting really OLD. All the snow was gone until today! Feels like we are starting all over with winter! It's blowing snow so hard this morning, I hope I can keep my car on the road!

Jacquie... hope your day goes quickly today, so you can get home to rest!

Judi..Glad you got to Joann yesterday.. you sure don't want to go out today! Being on the south end of the Twin Cities, you may get less snow than up here where I am.. but it's still a good day to stay in!

Guess I better get moving and prepare myself for the drive. Will leave extra early and make sure I have my snow boots and scraper/brush in my car before I head out!

We are still looking into the electric issues for our kids. We are so blessed that it did not affect our Rv. The electric for us is on a separate line, that must be why we lucked out.

Last night was horrible for wind here. At midnight, we had to get up and put both of our slides in. We don't know what the gusts were, but they must have been over 50 mph or so it seemed. It really shook the RV. We are also dealing with more rain showers and weather man still keeps predicting snow showers. What happened to Spring???? Oh yeah, we left it all in Texas, didn't we. What dummys, we should have stayed there for a least two extra weeks. Well, you live and learn, they say.

Today, I have some sewing projects lined up. I am doing special oven/grill mitts for my three sons. I will plan to send them off or take them with in June when we go visit for our Granddaughter's high school graduation. Our son here at the house will get his right away of course, won't make him wait. What prompted me to do this, was that back in January, I made a pillowcase for our grandson for his B-day. I really wanted to make it from White Sox material, but in Texas, of course, not available, so I opted for a fabric with Marine Corps print. I had quite a chunk of fabric left over and since I am a gal to USE up my fabrics, I dreamed up this idea to make the oven mitts.

It turned out I have JUST enough to do this. So what a treat!!! I cut the mitts out yesterday and got my bias strips cut, etc. Ready to stitch them today. I will post a picture when I get them done.

When these are done, I am just about ready to start on the cupcake quilt. I just wish I could decide for sure how I want to do the sashing and so forth.

Well, off to another great day. Hope you all have some fun today in whatever you set out to do.

Chriss – enjoy your sunshine, our temps have warmed up a little but we are sticking with tradition and are experiencing lots of April showers

Well I didn’t get the car, we had a look and DH and I both liked it but we passed a VW garage when we left and he wanted to pop in and look at the VW Tiguan......and he ended up buying the one in the showroom, I collect it on Monday!!!! I had the bigger version of the Tiguan before and loved everything aobut it but it was just too big for me pottering around in it and our spaces in the car parks over here weren’t quite big enough for it.....so I have a new car and it’s white.......never had a white car before, we’ve always had black ones.......can’t quite believe it, we went out to look at a small car and end up buying a big thing again......I tell you DH shouldn’t be allowed out with money in his pocket LOL

I have photos of Chris’s golly quilt, but didn’t want to post them if people thought it might be offensive......its a stunning quilt, so much work in it, and I’d love to show it to you......tell me honestly if you think it would be ok to post the pictures, maybe I could just post them here and not in the main photo thread.......right I’d better get off and finish these ‘dribble bibs’ for my parents LOL

Good morning Teresa and all the others. I am looking forward to meeting Teresa. She has done my quilting for me for awhile now but we have never actually met. I have seen pics so hopefully I can recognize her. We will take pics (haven't told her this yet!). We are meeting at the quilt shop that I first learned to quilt at. Small but Quaint. Can't hardly wait. Oh Sunday can't come soon enough!
