Good morning everyone.
The other night I was talking to a friend of mine and we got to talking about the LQS in our area. We couldn't get over how "catty" the employees at the shops are. They all talk about each other. Is it that way in your area? I guess it makes them feel better. Anyway. . . . I am on the ball this morning. I have lunch in the crockpot already. We are having a whole chicken and fresh kale. I fix our big meal in the middle of the day before hubby goes to work and then eat little for my dinner. I am plugging along on the Jacob's Ladder quilt. I may have to put it aside tho. A friend of my hubby's wife is sick and may need a quilt. She has MS and Fibromyalgia. I found a quick one on Pinterest using part of a jelly roll. It won't take long. Have a great day everyone.

Well Hello again!!! We have landed in Illinois! Brrrrrrr! What a change in temps. We left Texas with 80 degree temps. Yesterday's high here was 48 degrees. It was sunny and very pleasant, but really chilly for my blood.

This morning we woke up to 28 degrees and water line (hoses) to the camper freezing. We still get a little trickle of water. I was able to make a pot of coffee. It will warm up in a couple of hours.

I hope so. I have my Mamo this morning. Need a quick shower before I go.

Today, I hope to go through my things in the storage closet inside our son's home and find my Dresdan Plate pattern. I hope.
I have committed to make that for the April Lotto, so I need to get started on it very soon.

I am trying to read and catch up on everyone's happenings. Prayers needed, I see, for more pals. Wow, I hope more reports will tell us there is progress in the right direction for all.

Maryq: I am following your work problem. Hope you are getting all that resolved now.

Suzette: Your Jacob's Ladder quilt seems to be moving along nicely.

I hope to start on my granddaughter's gift quilt that I will make from my cupcake swap blocks. I have all the fabric, just need to get started.

We actually had a nice trip. No bad weather, no mechanical mishaps, a little bad traffic around Houston, that was about all. But the highways are so bumpy in Texas. I don't know what they do when they make the roads. It is like being on a dog gone wash board in many places. You should have seen my cupboards, stuff flipped and flopped everywhere. It's just a good thing that I do not take any breakable dishes. I carry two coffee mugs for our morning coffee, and two wine glasses for my happy hour drink. I wrap them in bubble wrap before we travel.

Some of my friends have dinner ware and glass ware that they have to pack and secure for travel. That would be a big headache.

Well, time for me to get my breakfast and a second cup of coffe, if the water line isn't frozen?????

I think we should have stayed in Texas for a couple extra weeks. Might have to do that next year. LOL

Good Morning from northern Illinois!! Have no idea what the temp is at this end of the state, maybe it's best if I don't know.

My quilting buddy won't be here today. If I canget caught up on things I hope to spend the day or part of it in my sewing room.

Crocus are blooming and I like to go out and see if there are new ones and just watch them. I have waited for them for such a long time.

DGD called me yesterday to tell me she saw a robin in her yard. I thought it was sweet of her to do that.

Velda, I hope you warm up soon. We could be in the 60's later this week.

Sales folks who talk about each other aren't being very professional. What would happen if the shopper knew or was related to the employee being discussed? I have experienced some of that in our area too.

Need to get the body moving. Much I would like to do today.

Mama Parker, Glad you are back and feeling better. Good thing you got to the dr. Hope you and Tom have a much better week.

Caroline, prayers for you hubby.

Kathy, prayers for your situation also.

Hugs and prayers to all in need.

Sandy, wondering where to start..

Suz - that's ashame about those gossips at the LQS. Makes you wonder what they say about you after you leave, huh? I hate gossip. It's so destructive and hurtful.

Velda - sorry about our bumpy TX roads. They are smooth when they make them but the heat and humidity tends to change things. I have Melmac plates, plastic bowls, acrylic coffee cups, and paper plates in our 5th wheel. Our redneck wine glasses are put back in their boxes (if they are even taken out) for travel. Our coffee pot doesn't have a caraffe so there's not much that's breakable in our rig. Sorry your weather is cold.

After work today we have to go buy the twinkies' bikes for their birthday party on Saturday. Then I hope to finish up the binding on the charity quilt.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good Morning Quilting Buddies,
I am back at work today, the smell is gone and a stack of business cards from Drainage Solutions is on my desk. So glad they got that fixed!

Kathy - I've been praying for your daughter, you and the whole situation.

I got my extra cleaning projects done at home yesterday - would use the hard water cleaning concoction again, but not the carpet stain remover one (lesson learned!) and got some work done on a quilt that was set aside last Sept. It feels good to be making forward progress again.

We are starting in the 20's today, but are supposed to get into the 50's. That will feel balmy!

Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Good Morning!

SUZ - our LQS has wonderful folks working there, but I know of one on the coast that two women owned and while they were tight with each other, they had sour attitudes towards their customers. They drove themselves right out of business! How sweet of you to make a comfort quilt for that lady! I think everyone should eat their heavy meal mid-day. It's much healthier for you.

VELDA - glad you made it OK! We carry some Correlle dishes in our trailer, but if you hit a big bump and they bounce out of the cupboard, they WILL shatter, not just break. Ask my how I know! And we carry four wine glasses and they are always stored in the four-compartment box they came in. And I've also used those grocery store wine carriers - like the shopping bags they have. I've never broken a glass since using those and no wrapping (or having to store the wrap!).

SANDY - hope you can get all those chores caught up today so you can go sew! That's my plan today, too. Indoor chores between sewing sessions.

I finished my rockery and will share a photo or two. We also got the construction job finished on the front of the house. Today is closeting myself with Mr. Maytag. And I noticed that 'someone' needs to dust my china closet. What a dusty mess in there! It's almost as bad as the inside of my car, which is also on today's list. I think the raccoons must get in there at night and trash it! lol!

We visited my brother in the hospital last night. He should go home today. His spirits are good, his sharp sense of humor is intact, 90% chance he does have cancer but he says he's not going to let it get him. His attitude is full of fight and triumph, which can make all the difference. Thank you for your prayers for him.

Good morning!

Suzette - how do you fix your kale? I have not the experience of sales staff gossiping about each other. I agree - very unprofessional and it would make me quite uncomfortable.

Velda - it's still cold here in the mornings, but our temps are headed up. The sun feels 'warmer' if that makes sense. Your DGD will love a cupcake quilt.

Sandy - that was quite sweet for your DGD to call with a robin report. I also think of you every time I see robins flying about. Hope you get caught up.

The garage door guy was a no show again yesterday, and didn't return calls again. Not sure what DH will do about it. Today I will try to turn a tie right side out. I used El's straw thingie, and it worked great on the first one. I obviously shut my brain off doing the second - the straw is stuck and there is a big fabric knot. D'OH! Have a great day, my friends. xoxo Sharona

dang! I responded here instead of doing it in a separate spot, and look what happened - three heads smooshed.

Cindyg - how old are the twinkies now? Bikes will be a perfect gift.

Karlene - how wonderful to have the smell gone. HOw do you remember where your put-aside projects are? Mine seem to be out of sight, out of mind.

Maryz - my china cabinet needs dusting also - feel freel to swing on down here and give it a swish. Your brother sounds like he has the perfect attitude to deal with the cancer. Prayers continue.

CNDY - sorry I walked on you! We carry Corelle, but we usually use paper, too. And we perk our coffee on the stove in a stainless steel coffee pot. I have no space for appliances. We have little foam netting sleeves for our glasses for travel. And I carry enough ceramic mugs to fit tightly in the cupboard so they don't bang around. so the only things we ever break are things we break ourselves!

KARLENE - I must have missed what went on at your smelly desk! But glad you got it fixed! I saw a cleaning solution on the news and tried it and it works beautifully! 1 cup of white vinegar, 1/3 cup of salt, and a TBSP of Dawn dish soap in a few gal of water. I told my DIL about it and she said that's all she uses in her house.

KATHY - I know you're occupied today, but know our thoughts, wishes, and prayers are with you and your daughter!

Good Morning Girls

Everybody must be sleeping in this morning... I know I would be if I could.. working a little later today, so I caught about 1/2 hour of extra sleep! It's a little chilly here this morning, still need my winter coat, but we sure lost a lot more snow yesterday! There is HOPE!

Velda....so glad you got back to Illinois safely! I wondered how you pack stuff when you travel. Good Idea to keep a coffee cup and wine glass out! Have fun going through you storage closet, I bet you will find things you didn't even know you had! Work is.... somewhat better, but still stressful--we are all feeling the stress of having to hurry to do things, but afraid of making mistakes! One gal just cut her hours to try to avoid the stress a bit..

Suzette... yes we women can be catty at times, but very unprofessional to talk catty around customers! Have you seen the Tutorial at Missouri Star Quilt CO. for a speedy quilt with a Jelly roll?

Sandy... are you getting ready to go to Paducah? Oh how I wish I could join you! I hear birds chirping out my window, but can't tell if it's Robins back here or not! Sure hope you get to the sewing room today!

Cindyg.... MN has the same trouble with bumpy roads.. We're the land of 10,000 lakes and 10 million pot holes. It's the cold and ice that make them so nasty up here. Two more days of work, then I will get some time to fondle fabric. Have to move things around a little for my co-worker to move in next month. I have a tall dresser full of fabric I need to empty out so she has a place to put her clothes! This will be just temporary until she can save up a few $ to find a place of her own. I did ask her how she felt about yard work!

Maryz... continued prayers for your brother--sometimes the right attitude can make a huge difference! And who might that "someone" be that will dust? Isn't vinegar such a little miracle! I use it all the time-more for cleaning than cooking! I saw a thing on FB about using baking soda and Hydrogen Peroxide to clear up cookie sheets! Might try that too, as I have some nasty looking cookie sheets...

Sharon... maybe it's time to call somebody else for a new garage door. That would really tick me off, to wait around for somebody to show up and then to top it off, not return phone calls.

Kathy....thinking of your DD! Hope she is feeling better and that the pain is under control.

Karlene...we may hit 50 here today!! More snow gone! Glad you got the smell under control! YUK!

Okay, I've chatted til my time is up... HI HO it's off to work I go. Two more days! Am seriously considering retiring in November when I turn 62... lots of pros and cons to it!

Have a great day every one!
