Chris......OOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHH.....AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, is that enough for you (at least for right now)? the dress is darling, and so is the model. She just keeps getting cuter every day! Rosie, glad you had a chance to get with CindyB, hope the coffee doesn't keep you up all night. I'm just channel-surfing, think I'll pop in a dvd and watch a movie or fall asleep in the recliner. Hope you all have a good night. (Chriss, I'll be waiting for my cake in the mail, too!)

Chriss - you did a good job. Your GD is sweet, sure she had fun helping you make the dress. Will be looking for the cake.

The LQS had 30 reproduction they have 40% off the last Sat. of the month. Got what I needed. Home Depot didn't have the pineapple sage, not sure where to go here in Fl. will have to do some asking around.

Everyone have a good night.

Well I made it through my day at work. I'm going to go sew for a while. I think I'll pass on weed wacking until tomorrow or Monday. We were super busy at work and I'm all worn out.

Chriss, the dress turned out beautiful.

Kathy, hope you are feeling better this evening.

I'm gonna go check the prayer requests, then figure out something for supper, and then work on my sewing.

BBL if it isn't too late by the time I get back on.

Mary

ME,

It's not the caffeine that will keep me up, heck I'm making myself stay up to watch the 11 o'clock news. It's getting up every hour for a pit stop.

Chris, Good story...Reminds me of the fellow that had a pile of logs he wanted chopped into fire wood...One of his best buddys called the police and told them "Bubba" had stashed his "wacky tobacco" in the logs...Next day, best buddy called Bubba and asked if the logs were chopped, Bubba said yes and best buddy said, Happy Birthday!

Now if I could just come up with something......

Chriss - The dress is adorable!! What a nice job you have done. If you want to ask about any of the terms you came across and did not know please ask. I have been a garment sewer for most of my life.

Your stories are fabulous! LOL I wonder if we told someone there was gold or jewels in our fabric what they would do to our sewing rooms? Maybe our loved ones would be more understanding of the big mess we make!!

OOOOHH, AWWWWW! I love the dress and the sweet smile on your DGD!!! She looks so happy!

I've been lurking and not posting much, but I love you ALL! We're getting ready to head to CO for a visit with our DGD. Will be gone all of June, but I may be able to check in occasionally because that dear man of mine bought me a laptop computer! Now we just have to hope we get to campgrounds that have internet access.

Have a great JUNE, everyone!

thanks for the dress compliments... even though I begged for them... they are truly appreciated... it's the first thing I have sewn... clothes wise....

Good job on eating right.. as I sit here with a hershey bar... keep up the great work... this dress had interfacing around the armholes too.. but the piece I cut was so so big so I left it out... I think the next time instead of all this interfacing I will just hem the edges or use binding of somekind...I had interfacing around the collar and it said to tack it down by hand.. strange.

Ann, have a super trip... spoil that grand rotten.

Carol... I didn't know you were a sewer of clothes... dang I could have used you... on the cutting lay out it says with nap.. what is a nap....one of the peices I needed to cut was a "flounce" I had to cut two of them on the fold... I thought these were the armhole things but they were huge compared to the pattern...it also said to "stay -stitch" it also said to edge finish... and to make matters worse I could have sewn it in French and Spanish... as if I could even figure out the English part.. . ugh... but I am not giving up.... I will try again...

And, by the way, you gals are the best ooohhhhers and aaaawwwwers in the world...

Hi Chriss - [I didn't know you were a sewer of clothes... dang I could have used you ]– I have a B.A. in HomeEconomics, I have sewn many clothes, including my wedding dress and three little girl dresses for the wedding as well as the Matron of Honor’s Dress. My Mother helped me by sewing her dress and the outfit for the ring bearer.
[... on the cutting lay out it says with nap.. what is a nap] – Nap is like courderoy, or velvet, in which one direction is more smooth than the other direction. The nap layout is also used for plaids or directional prints.
“....one of the peices I needed to cut was a "flounce" I had to cut two of them on the fold... I thought these were the armhole things but they were huge compared to the pattern” – A flounce is a ruffle. Did one of the views have a ruffle? You should only be cutting the pieces for the view you wish to sew.
[...it also said to "stay -stitch" it also said to edge finish] - Most of the time stay stitching isn’t important. Just like in quilting though fabric stretches when on the bias and the stay stitching is meant to prevent the stretching.
.[ and to make matters worse I could have sewn it in French and Spanish... as if I could even figure out the English part.. . ugh... but I am not giving up.... I will try again...]
I hope all this helps. I am sorry it is so long!
Carol

Carol, you are the best... now that I look closer at the picture the bottom of the dress does have a ruffle... too funny... I am such a dork....lol... thank you so much for answering me so quickly.. I do appreciate it.

I may try it again but want to attempt a different pattern...kind of mix it up a bit...
