Snowcovered Tuesday January 27th.

Post by vivian1970 » Mon Jan 26, 2009 11:55 pm

Well I think I am getting the snow day I wanted. Right now we have about 4 inches of snow and the weathermen are telling us that here in SW Ohio where I am, we are going to get a total of 10 - 15 Inches of snow today and tomorrow along with some ice. So with taking backroads to work, its not going to happen today. I am staying in all day and possibly tomorrow. So it looks like i am going to get a bunch of sewing done today.

Have a great day and please be very careful if you do venture outside.

Vivian
They have just issued a Level One for our county. I don't think it will be long before that goes to a level three.

Well, our area is supposed to get snow today also. It was to have started at 4am and so far it hasn't. I am at work so I won't get any extra sewing in today. If it ices tonight into tomorrow morning then I might. I'll check back later. Have a great day

Today is work for me. Tomorrow will hopefully be a snow day here as it is heading this way. My DH put wheels on my LA this weekend so that I can pull it away from the lolly columns in the basement and finally use it. I have 5 quilts waiting to be finished. I'm so excited. Hoping for a snow day so I can be busy with that.

Hope everyone stays safe and warm today. Laura

Flurries are predicted today, but it's way too cold here to snow. Actual temp right now is -14, don't even want to think of the wind chill. Headed to another dr appt this morning, hoping I'll get answers from this one. Pretty soon the valet parkers will know me on a personal level. Those of you on the east coast, please take care & drive safely if you have to go out. I'll try to check in later today.

Stay warm everybody!

I may be having a snow day as well - waiting to see. My town is ok so far and the storm will probably stay mostly south of me BUT - I work about 45 minutes south of here and that's where it's starting to ramp up again. The town where I work has already closed schools so they may tell me to just stay home. I can probably get there but getting home might be the issue. I was just checking the Dept. of Transportation maps and looks like the highway I need is starting to get covered.

DH left at 5 this morning with 3 other men on a line crew. They were told to pack for 5-7 days so not sure when he'll be home again. If you think of it - shoot up a prayer for all the linemen and crews please? And any others that have to be out in this - road crews, emergency personnel, etc. Thanks!

Guess I'll camp out here for a bit till I find out if I'm gong to work or not, lol.

Ok, ok - I 'had' to post a few more Lucas pics in Chit-Chat. Little bugger keeps getting in front of my camera somehow, lol.

Good Morning...

My gosh, it really is cold where you all are.. I pulled up a weather map and there is a pink stripe ( ice) right across it...

I didn't know they rated the weather in levels..so if it gets to a certain level do you just stay indoors?

it is 33 degrees here now and should get up to 54... it will be in the 50's this week... I feel awful for you snowy weather gals... just too cold for me.. I pray you stay warm.

Bubbles, can Lucas come and get in front of my camera sometime??? I promise I won't keep him long....lol..

hugs,
Chriss

Good cold Tuesday morning to everyone. It is a whopping 11* this morning with a wind chill of -3. We only have about 1/2-1 inch of snow but plenty of cold. I need to go to WalMart for some pins and to the post office before work. I will decide if I get more pins or not when I get on the street.

Stay warm and safe.

LOL - Lucas is starting to focus on the camera whenever I get it out. I think I may be creating a monster!

Just got an email from my boss. Verdict is still out on work. Roads are ok for now but getting back home may be the issue if this moves in like it looks like. He'll probably tell me to just stay home.

Good Snowy Morning to everyone! It is absolutely beautiful outside. I'm concerned about the possiblity of ice, though..that's not fun. Where does everyone live??? My old brain just can't always remember...

Chriss, these are the definations for the different levels in Ohio:

Level One: "ROADWAYS ARE HAZARDOUS WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. ROADS ARE ALSO ICY. DRIVE VERY CAUTIOUSLY."

Level Two: "ROADWAYS ARE HAZARDOUS WITH BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW. ONLY THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO FEEL IT IS NECESSARY TO DRIVE SHOULD BE OUT ON THE ROADWAYS. CONTACT YOUR EMPLOYER TO SEE IF YOU SHOULD REPORT FOR WORK."
This level of snow advisory is more severe than Level One and recommends that only necessary vehicular travel be undertaken. Driving is NOT prohibited.

Level Three: "ALL ROADWAYS ARE CLOSED TO NON-EMERGENCY PERSONNEL. NO ONE SHOULD BE OUT DURING THESE CONDITIONS UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO TRAVEL. ALL EMPLOYEES SHOULD CONTACT THEIR EMPLOYER TO SEE IF THEY SHOULD REPORT TO WORK. THOSE TRAVELING ON THE ROADWAYS MAY SUBJECT THEMSELVES TO ARREST."
This is the most restrictive level of snow advisory. It prohibits driving except for emergencies or absolute necessities.

The Sheriff in each county determines which level for their county. Vivian and I are different counties, also, Institcheswithrosie is in another county...and beccasmom is in KY so I don't know how they do their "levels".
