We are having -19 this morning. It's cold inside too, the furnace and the coal stove are running non-stop. I have to go out in this to take sonny to get his basketball picture taken.

I also have to run up to the mall and buy a new iron. The strangest thing happened last night. I'm working away on these star blocks and the iron starts to smoke, then it really is smoking and the fire alarm goes off. I unplugged it to let it cool down. Hubby came home a half hour later and I tell him about it. He picked it up and it was still very warm. Something went haywire in there. So I have to get a new one; I can't quilt without it. As long as I'm going to be up there I'm going to stop in at Joann's, my daughter was there yesterday and she called and said all the material was 50% off. I need some green to make a Tennessee Twist after Shakespeare is done.

I hope you all can keep warm!

Good Morning:)

Well it is finally above zero!!!!!!!!!! We are supposed to get 3-5" of snow, but that's ok. If the roads aren't too bad I will take my Mother fabric shopping, for fabric to make a quilt for my Dad.

I had a pretty rough week...one of our patients passed away unexpectedly, and I was pretty close to her. I'm trying to get up the nerve to go to her funeral this morning, not sure if I'll be able to. We were very busy this week-- which is good, even health care places are laying people off.

Sorry to be such a downer!! I'll perk up-- especially if I get to go fabric shopping.

I'll pop in again later

Good morning, The weatherman (or woman) says its 10 degrees here and its suppose to get up to about 33 today. Thank goodness. Now maybe my toes thaw out.

I am at work again as usual. I am working 9 hours today and then I think I will go to Joanns and get some fabric for a quilt for my granddaughter. All I need is fatquarters and a lot of them. I did bring in some fabric today and my scissors so that in between customers I can cup out my leaves for the tattered garden block I am making. I have all the blocks done except for putting the leaves on. Hopefully we won't get slammed today at work. Saturdays are usually our busy days. Working in this dealership is quite different from others. We still do a lot of business and I thank my lucky stars for that or I would be out of work and not able to purchase fabric. Dread the thought.

So you girls have a great day, stay warm, and be careful is you wander out into the cold.

I'm afraid this weekend will be too busy to sew! (sniff!) We're leaving in a few minutes to go to DGS's pinewood derby. My DH helped him make his wooden car so we'll go to watch him race. It's a 3 hour deal and a MILLION little boys running around a gymnasium! Whoo Hoo! Then tonight we're going to DGD's basketball game..she's 12, so the games are a little bit more exciting..
Tomorrow DH will go to a friend's house with his DS#2 to gather wood, then we go to a 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration...
Whew! My retired body isn't used to so much activity! LOL!
I did get to finish my Fishin' Sam cuddle quilt for my friend yesterday and got all the charms for the "Cookie & Candy" Swap--all ready to go in the mail, if I ever find the time to go to the PO! Probably Monday.
DH is pacing...guess it's time to go!

Oh Joanne - we are starting our pinewood derby clinics today and next Sat. Our race is the first Sat in Feb. Good luck to your little one. This was always a great event for my DGS. He won first place every year but 1. Now that he is in boy scouts, he can still race but there is not prize in that division. I told him now he can worry less about speed and make the car of his dreams!

I am going to try and get my 12 inch bowtie block made before leaving, then I will make the smaller one when we get home. They have a 7.5 mile hike tomorrow so I can finish cutting for my class next Sunday. Hope you all have a wonderful day. Will check in later.

They are having pinewood derby in Wisconsin today too!!! They should make pinewood sleds!

I have been working on my URR block-- am going fabric shopping afterall!! My Mom has to pick out which pattern she likes-- my vote will be log cabin, then it's off to get the fabric. It is going to be a surprise for my Dad's 76th birthday in June.

See ya

Morning ladies, warmer here this morning, thank goodness, heading for a high of 35'. Much better than the high of 23' yesterday! Tomorrow we may see some snow showers. Been so cold, with wind chills, there is still a few patches of snow from the last inch or so we got. That usually doesn't happen around here, so it seems kind of funny. Didn't quilt yesterday, had a migraine visit instead, but a Maxalt pill took care of that, thank goodness! Want to get this pieced border done, so I can move on to the next step on this quilt. Hoping to spend this weekend at home, instead of in town, spending more money. Put steaks out for dinner later, yum! We are warming up a little, for a day or two, then drop again, but only to our norms, in the 30's & 40's, not the 20's or less for highs. Hope everyone warms back up again, at least for a bit.

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Nancy...
