Monday Jan 12....

Post by momof6quilts » Mon Jan 12, 2009 12:02 am

It's a chilly 12 degrees here this morning and they are calling for more snow! Lucky me. I do have to go out in it today. Cleaning at MIL's and then to the store.

My sewing plans are to work on this geese :-)

Emily keeps asking if the Shakespeare in the Park is next on the "list"
It is coming right up! Right after geese and three February Birthday Blocks. I'm excited to start a new long term project.

Good morning, Vicky. We're bracing for the cold here, too. It's supposed to get to a high of 5 above today & much lower for the rest of the week. Hopefully that'll be too cold for it to snow. I finished my Turning Twenty quilt yesterday that I made with leftovers from Christmas material. It's alot bigger than I first had thought. Still not sure how it'll be quilted, but at least the top is finished. Headed off to the shower in a couple of minutes, hope all have a good day.

Hi Vicky, sounds like you have a busy day... is Emily interested in quilting or just quilts?

Me, can't wait to see that turning twenty... it does seem like 20FQ's would make a large quilt.....

It is 41 degrees out side which must be like summer to those of you in the snow... and will get in the mid 60's today....

I need to work today then put the binding on a baby quilt I made this weekend... it is the first time I have ever thought of using store bought binding... but don't know how it works and have plenty cut, just need to iron it and sew it on...

you all have a fun day,

It is 10 degrees here....Since my last weather check was 65 in South Carolina. I have enough stuff to stay in and do laundry and iron and get the house straightened out. I won't go out except to get the mail. I have to boot and jacket for that. Still working on a baby quilt. I need to get that finished the baby shower is coming up. BBL..it is cold but still good to be home....all of you working girls stay safe if you are driving.

Good Monday Morning Ladies. I hope you all have a wonderful week. It does look like a very brutal cold front approaching. I was just watching the weather. Brrrr All of you up N. please take care. I know you have Winters like this but compared to Okla. weather, it just really sounds awful!

I have to take Dillon to the Vet for blood test for a Platelet count and then get some laundry and house work done. This afternoon I go get my hand re-Xrayed. Never an end. Vicky I admire how you do all you do and still have time to sew. How do you do it?????? Please share??? I guess I must be terribly slow. I am beginning to think I need some time management lessons or something.

I am going to try this evening to see if I can do some cross-stitch on a quilt top that I started last year and put away. It is Qu sz and I've barely gotten a start on it & have 2 to do. Some of you may remember that Senior moment when I found them on Ebay at a ridiculously low price and got them for our twin DGD's. Not thinking these are Qu sz!!!!! Oh well. They can have them when they are old enough to appreciate them. If I live long enough to complete them. LOL

Got to get the furkids fed and get myself dressed. Drive safely if you have to get out today and dress warm! I hope you have a wonderful day regardless of what you do get to do today. BBL

Hugs & Prayers

Good morning all. It is chilly here in kentucky and we are supposed to have a couple of clippers come through dropping our temp way down this week. Oh boy I can 't wait for that LOL. I started practicing on my hand quilting again last night and was really getting into it. I guess I might be improving. It is still slow going but relaxing and I work tonight at Joann's. I was off from there last week so it will feel a little strange going back tonight but I am sure I will enjoy it.

Hi Everyone
All of you sound so cold! I don't know how to manage the cold very well. The sun is not up yet here. There is no wind, it is clear and already 67*. I wish we would get rain! We have only had 4 inches and need a lot more. They are predicting the high pressure system until the end of January.

I am still working on the tote for my great-niece. I finally started quilting it last night. I really have been procrastinating on making this one; not sure why.

Good morning y'all. It's cold (for down here) but the sun is shining brightly. It's a beautiful day. I hear we are getting a really cold blast about Friday. Time to light the fireplace. Ho-hum, I'm at work today. Got lots to do this morning and this afternoon I have a Workers Comp audit - oh, fun!

question answers-

Emily is interested in quilts not quilting. She has one started and it has been sitting in a box for over a year now, BUT- her older sister has had one sitting for ever too and she is finishing as a senior project and her oldest sister is shannonmomof4 on here and she is REALLY getting into quilting; almost as much as me.

How do I do it all? Well now, I don't know. I'm not really that overly scheduled a person. I would like to sit aside more time to quilt but with teenagers in the house and all they do I have to fit it all in around everyone else. I have learned to take a take along project, like the handsewing a binding or my Grandmother flower garden. I take them to Orchestra practice, Next year Tia will be 18 and can drive after nine so I can be at home. I have mixed feelings about that. I'll miss the music! But the concerts will really be nice to go to because I'll not hear the music months in advance.

I don't get every done like I would like to either. I am really behind in reading but I find I can not read and quilt at the same time. It's read a book or sew not read a little sew a little. I go through phases in that.

A big help is having my girls home with me all day. They do their school and help in the kitchen and clean. They help with canning in the summer and gardening. They are a big blessing. Last week we were having meat loaf for supper and Tia asks can I make it? Well, of course let me get out of your way!

Mgrammy and Q7...I am so envious of you! I hate the cold. Can't get my hubby to move to Hawaii, so we are stuck in the snow. I reminded him that he wouldn't have to worry about the lack of plows if we lived in Maui!

Its cold and snowy, and I have two kids home sick, so I didn't go to school either. I don't like to call off on Mondays, and especially on snowy days, but one has a fever so I guess that's what sick days are for.

I shouldn't sew today, I sewed all weekend, but I'm gonna anyway! I am working on a scrap quilt using Bonnie Hunter's 'pattern' to use up crumbs. Its addicting...I had to stop myself from cutting up perfectly good yardage to give a bigger variety of scraps! My poor DH says I've spent entirely too much time with those little bitty pieces!

Stay warm and be safe if you are driving in weather today!
