Hello Fabricgirl, from 'waay out here in California...and good morning to anyone else who might be up.
I couldn't sleep, throat hurts, nose running, DH snoring...you know how it goes! Finally gave in and got up. Sitting here sipping coffee which feels really good going down.
Fabric, congrats on your new kitty! Have you named him yet?

Good morning everyone. I have 2 quilts that I will be working on today. One needs border and then it will be in the same place as the other. Then I have to layer, quilt and bind. I also need to get together my menu for Thanksgiving. That way I can see what can be made ahead of time. So a busy day ahead. But first I am going to enjoy my coffee it's 25 degrees here.

Good morning all. A little tired after a night out with my dear Dad in the city (SF) The annual Scottish dinner and ball. He is 81 and still wants to go so I go every year and drive. He then will tell me all about how the food bothered him all night long and he is now on a cane so can't dance anymore. I will suggest staying home next year and he will tell me "Never". The trials of aging parents. Gotta love them. Got to get the boarder on a quilt, scout bowling from 1 - 3. Laundry and the fridge cleaned. DMIL arrives Wed!

Hey everyone, good morning! Had our Thanksgiving yesterday - some were working, but we still had 28 for dinner. I have to share that I finally solved the "last minute mass confusion" with a turkey dinner...you know, where the potatoes need to be mashed, gravy has to be made, biscuits put in the oven (and hopefully removed BEFORE they burn), at the same time the turkey needs carved and the ham sliced. Whew! I always go nuts, but try to stay CALM! LOL!
Well, this year, we mashed the potatoes and put them in a crock pot to stay warm. I sucked out some dripings from the turkey and made the gravy AHEAD--left it on the top of the stove to rewarm. Those little chores, done ahead, were a lifesaver! That just left the biscuits to do...my DH and SIL does the bird and ham. It was wonderful!!!! I just never thought to do the mashed potatoes ahead--I thought they would dry out in the crockpot, but they were great!
We had a great time--TONS of food (everyone brings one or more dishes and/or desserts--we don't have a large house but alot of rooms and two complete stoves and two refrigerators.
Getting ready to go to Ohio Valley Antique Machinery, Inc.'s November Dinner Meeting. Everyone brings a covered dish or dessert...talk about some good food!!
You all have a great day, maybe I'll get to sew some when we get home! BBL

Mornin' everyone. No sewing today. Have to go to work. Hopped on just to catch up on what's been happening. I haven't been able to get on much this past week and I'm having withdrawals from not getting to talk to my buddies. (or at least 'listen' to everyone).
Fabricgirl.....congrats on the new family member.
Carolej.....Sorry you are not feeling well. Try some tea and honey for your throat. Hope you feel better soon.
Joanne.....Good job on getting everything done for your Thanksgiving dinner. Sounds like it worked out well.
I need to start getting dressed for work now. Talk to everyone later. Everyone have a blessed and glorious day whatever you will be doing.

Good Morning!! Cold and crisp here on Long Island today. My DD#1 and I are going to do a little shopping for Christmas. Then later I am going to do some hand quilting.
fabricgirl..Good luck with your new cat. My DD#1 is picking up a new cat today..her third. It is 7yrs and black.
CaroleJ..Hope you feel better sone.
Joann..I live the crock pot idea.
We Significant..I loved your story of Scottish Dinner with your Dad.
Susette..I do not know how you feel about it. I do not like the sandwiching & basting part of quilting. This is when we need to gather our quilt buddies to help us..LOL
Happy Quilting....Kathy

FG, congrats on your new kitty, hope he learns to get along soon.
Joanne, you taught me something today... I am going to put my crock pot to good use this turkey day... I am glad yours went well... I won't be feeding quite as many as you are but there is still that rush where you hope the rolls won't burn....
We, you are so cool to take your dad to the Scottish ball... I bet he loves it.... sounds like a wonderful dressy thing that I would like to see.....
Suzette, have fun sewing
Carole, hope you feel well soon.
It is a 45 degree morning here, I want to go out side for a bit before I tackle my quilts... I have 4 tops that need to get put together plus I want to make some totes.....I also have a ton of scraps, mostly strips that I want to sew together and make grandmothers fans out of...
have a fun day,
Chriss

Good Morning from Minnesota--where it's a balmy 30*
Just woke up and can't believe I slept so late (9am) DD is still sleeping of course, but when she gets up we have a litte more rearranging to do and I have ALL my laundry to do.
Yesterday I did manage to get some sewing done and hopefully can sneak in a little more today.
Tomorrow we are having a Thanksgiving Pot Luck dinner at work and I'm bringing my Wild Rice Hot Dish and fresh Cranberry relish so have to get that put together this afternoon--after a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up a few things I forgot last trip.
CaroleJ.. WOW that sounds like quite a party---reminds me of the days when all my family got together! When it came time to say Grace, we'd make a big cirle all the way through the living room and kitchen holding hands. What a great memory!!
Hope everyone has a great Sunday

Good Sunday morning to you all.....It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood..sunny and bright cold. I took a little walk this am and saw a beautiful hawk sitting in a tree. I tried to get a photo but he was having none of that. I live in town, but on a river that backs up to a large park so I get lot of critters. I put out some old bread and popcorn for the birds and squirrels....Going to my sis today to play with the Lizzie...will take a lap quilt to do....I love long arm quilting...hoping to get better at it so I can do all my own quilts. I can stipple and meander...Do snowflakes, and Hearts but not that good yet. Chriss hope you are doing well....How's the fart plans coming? Everyone sounds so busy and happy
HAVE A GREAT DAY ALL.....bbl
