I looked at the topic line and remembered I forgot that sunday was my Mom's birthday. She would have been 80 this year.. gone 30 years and I still miss her. My sister;s birthday is tomorrow, I CAN"T forget to call her! I work 1/2 day today and then the whole bathroom is under construction. We bowl tonight, so we will see how that goes. Ken went to a coaching conference this past weekend and bought Jake a new ball. It looks promising, at HS practice he bowled a 198, 114 (don't know what happened there) a 235, 242, 188 and 170.. so all of the basics I taught him over the years is finally paying off with the right equipment! Ken coaches the girls and Al coaches the boys, but it takes a lot of pressure off when Jake does so well, there is no way anyone can say he didnt earn whatever spot on the team AL places him. Ken stays out of it and lets him put the boys where he thinks they need to be, put you can't always tell disgruntled parents that! I need to go fabric shopping for some backing fabric today as well.

Good morning everyone! It's Friday Eve. After work today I am going to cut fabric for my 2nd quilt that is a Christmas present. I have the other top done just need to get the backing fabric. Can't decide what to use. I was thinking about Minkee but the top is bright pink, orange and blue. With a lime green border. Does Minkee come in bright colors? I have only seen it in pastel. Anyway, have a great day.

Iowa, sounds like great bowling scores... I remember when my son was little and they put bumpers in the gutters and he still beat me... stinker.... but it was fun.

I also love that it is friday eve.... I need to put two borders on one top and cut out another.... I want to do a milky way pattern but in two colors, I think it will look ok... I have a pattern for an 8" and a 12" block, not sure which way to go...

Oh Suzeete.. Sounds lovely, but those colors would give me a migraine! Jake picked them outfor a quilt a couple of years ago. The entire thign went to Cindyb as orphan blocks, I simply could NOT work with those colors! Happy sewing!

Good Morning All

It's cloudy and gloomy in Minnesota this morning! I'm up having my coffee then it'll be time to get ready for work. Is it FRIDAY yet?? Oh darn, just thursday. The snow we got the other day is all melted and it's 38 degree here now, headed up to 40 something--which is FINE with me.

Last night I finished the table topper for Mom and if the weather stays nice this weekend I'm going down to visit. Mom, Sis and I all have November birthdays so we have a "girls lunch" sometime during the month to celebrate! Baby Sis is turning 50 this year so I gotta get her GOOD!!!!

Good Morning....I have been up admiring my clean house...did that all day yesterday...No word on my friend yet....still on a respirator....I hope they make a decision...I don't think Pam would have wanted this...I am making a pillowcase kit to take to my quilt guild tonight ti show how they are made, everyone who just reads the directions says it is confusing...I have made so many now I don't even read the pattern. I hope everyone has a great day...it is gloomy as mud here in SE Michigan and raining....I hope it clears tomorrow as I want to put up my outside lights before the blizzards come....Love to all.....bbl

Good morning everyone! It's drizzling rain and about 50 deg. here this morning. I'm still fighting this virus or whatever it is...

Iowagal - I bowled on a league about 25 yrs. ago and I loved it. My scores were hardly ever consistant, I'd run from 112 to 178. Lack of control, I think. But I hurt my back and it's made it impossible to bowl anymore. Bowling is becoming bigger around here...some of the high schools now have teams. It's really a great all around sport.

Suzette58 - girl, I saw your wild colored quilt in photos!! WOW! Now I like brights (more so now in my old age!)--but I'm kinda like Iowagal...I don't think I could put that together! LOL! Please don't be offended, though, because all the young people absolutely LOVE the brights! Orange is my most disliked color...I'd probably puke if I had to make an orange quilt! LOL!! You did a nice job on it..and I think it's great that you actually cut the fabric wrong, but just went ahead with it! That's how some of these "new" patterns happen! I personally have never seen Minkee in anything except pastels...maybe you could do the backing in flannel, if you want a soft feel. Everytime you say "Friday Eve" it reminds me of when I still worked--I was "famous" at work for that phrase!

Marilynsgrammy - you are a much better woman than I am!! Six days..that is awesome! Only another smoker can really appreciate what it takes to go that long. Six HOURS is a lifetime...trully! Don't give up! I quit several years ago for about 3 months but thought I could smoke a cig just in the evening--kinda like a cigar smoker does--but I just gradually started up again. I have really cut down, though...at one time, I smoked 3 packs a day, now it's a little over a pack. The doctor told me (he was an ex-smoker)that some people are addicted and some people aren't. He had to put me on a strong drug to soothe my nervous system for 4 days, I was such a mess. I absolutely couldn't sit still! So, you hang in there! I'm pulling for you..

Suzette - I don't think Minkee comes in brights but I used a lime green dot Minkee on one of the twin's quilt. My DD says the whole family fights over using the quilt with the Minkee on the back because it's so soft and warm.

IowaGal - I bowled for years and never had a decent average. My team liked me because I brought in the handicap - LOL I don't think I could even pick up a bowling ball now because of my corpal tunnel and arthritis.

Joanne - Orange is my least favorite color, too, but for some reason I fell in love with a line of fabric, Natural Splendor, and it is oranges, rusts, lavendar, yellows, golds and a very dull olive green but it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm working with that fabric now making a Pink Lemonade quilt. I'm so surprised at myself because I'm enjoying working with all that orange.

Maryq - have a fun birthday dinner with your mom and sis.

It's foggy here and dreary. I'm looking forward to this weekend when it will cooler and the highs will be in the 60's instead of 80's.

Suzette58 - QIAD has some black and some purple minkee on sale now..the black might look good with your quilt!

Cindyg - do you have a photo somewhere that you have used the Natural Splendor fabric line????? For some reason, I have a search on Ebay for that fabric line...and I can't even remember WHY!! I must have seen it somewhere and liked it?? Hummmmmmmm..... If I don't write everything down, I forget!!

It's back to work for me today. I got a lot done on my quilt yesterday. Now I need to lay everything out to see if anything needs to be in the order I had planned for putting the top together.

Suzette.....Orange is one of my favorite colors. I thought your quilt turned out great. I was on the phone with DD while I was looking at it so didn't post to it. Can't listen to what one person is saying and type about something else, LOL.
