WeeOne & McMema - so good to see you girls here again!

I just popped in to see if we've heard from Momof6. I'm wondering how her dentist appt. went.

I'm not getting to sew tonight. DH wants me to watch a movie with him (dang it!!) and, because he doesn't ask very often, I guess I'd better. I can sew most of the day tomorrow.

Y'all have fun tonight.

Don't worry about how you sound, JW, go back and read my "clear as mud" post when I first asked the question! LOL! I just always say it's because I'm old..and my brain is tired! When I was a young one, like you, I'd tell everyone my brain was full!
I really like the bear's paw...but it's been about 5 yrs. since I made my one and only block...and to tell the truth, at that time I wouldn't really have noticed if my points matched or not!

PS-I was laughing at sewcarolyn's bear! It is too cute!

Hi everyone. I didn't read all the posts, but just wanted to stop in and say hi. I've been busy working overtime and quilting when I'm off. That's why I haven't been here much. I did get a couple quilts in the mail today. I think I will make something for me this weekend. I did 6 charity quilts this month. I need a break from that. Maybe I'll work on my UGGR blocks and get caught up. Hope everyone has a good evening. Lori

Carolyn - The bears are so cute!

Chriss - I made bear paws last year for a swap then I had to make more for the Bear in the Woods Quilt. The bear paws are all that are done on that quilt. This next week I plan on making the log cabin blocks. Then I will do the trees. Bear Paws aren't so bad. Just 16 HSTs in the square. If I had had the Triangle Square Up Ruler when I was making them I think they would have been much easier. I did not know about that ruler until I was making the Birds In The Air blocks. LOL

I'm up from the couch. It is really bad but of course I think I just may live through it. I'm still bleeding which I don't know if thats ok or not. I'm not supposed to take advil but I think I'm going to take a little bit tonight so I can sleep.
Thanks for your prayers.

Lori, watch it when you go in the UGRR area... they may pick on you too...lol...

Q7... I have that ruler and love it... I bet the bearpaw will be so much easier to do with it than without it.... I have had bad luck with the claws but can't wait to do it with this ruler.

I have decided to take my funky blocks that will never find a home and make pot holders... I may have to sew some together but I have the stuff that goes in the middle and it would be easy to do.... and I can always use pot holders.... Just another project on the list...lol

gotta go eat dinner,

Hi! I just had dinner, came to catch up on what ya'll have been up to and....KRISPY Kreme donuts!!! OMG!...those donuts are right up there with cotton, I swear! I kid you not, I can blast thru a dozen of those and not blink twice.

My very first quilt was a red and white full size Drunkard's Path. The pattern was in a magazine and I was so clue-less, I didn't even know how to square off the fabric edge. I didn't know at the time how AWFUL the instructions were, either. Got it finished and quilted, but it really discouraged me from quilting. That's when I found QIAD online and thought I'd give it one more try and ordered the Flying Geese video and book. Boy, I was THRILLED with El's techniques and having the video was incredible. Anyway, I've done a 2nd Drunkard's Path since then and it' not as intimidating as it seems. If you haven't made that pattern before, or worked with curves, try the larger blocks first because the curve isn't as difficult to work with as the small ones are. Just go slow around the curves and you can do it!

Thanks, JW. I had never used charm squares before, and I was wondering if I had cut the center square accurately - but I checked and they were fine. The problem is: the directions in the Tossed Nine Patch say that "Center strip must be cut in half equally. Make an adjustment if your center strip is not 4 1/2"". So I am trying real hard to be sure that my center strip IS 4 1/2"! I guess I think it would have been easier if I had cut all the pieces myself - but I got a 'good deal' on the charm squares, and I really like the fabrics.

But, you know, every time you try something new, you LEARN something!
