Re: Snowing Friday in Maine
We had a dusting of snow in the night and it is starting to snow again this afternoon.
Nice to see you here Jenny.
I have sewn the center pinwheels for 6 of 12 blocks for the pinwheels in the wind.

Good afternoon, ladies! I'm popping back in, been sewing today and needed a break. Jennie, hi!, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't finished unpacking! LOL! Quilter7, oh my gosh, your quilt is gorgeous! Love it! About 1-1/2 yrs. ago I started a Birds in the Air that's scrappy, seeing yours makes me want to finish my UFO. But goodness, I LOVE it in the red and white, so striking!
TRIED to take a nap with Daisy today, but Wally (the grand-dog) kept waking us up because he wanted us to go in the den where HE prefers to nap! Daisy and I were pretty disgruntled with ole Wally boy! LOL! Anyway, here we sit in the den and Wally is snoozing to beat the band, and Daisy and I would like to slap him! LOL!

Thank you everyone for the compliments! After working so hard on this quilt it is nice to be rewarded with them. DH wasn't sure he liked the black, but it is what DN wanted. The black has a white print flower with a red center. The flower is the same shape as in one of the reds.
GP - I bet yours is fantastic! Take it out and finish it and let us see it! what size did you make?

Quilter7, I love the black border, I think it sets it off beautifully! I think my UFO is a king size. I used Thimbleberries fabrics and put the fabrics for each block in zippy bags. When I put it aside I had about 1/2 of them pieced. I may be picking your brain for help as I proceed with it!
Hey ya'll, when I came back here on the Home Page is the pre-order for the Night and Day book! I HAD to have it even though I'm going to Paducah, this way I can get Michelle and El to sign the book in Paducah and have my "working copy" to use. If my copy comes before I go to Paducah, then I can make something from it and might actually look like I know what I'm doing in class! ROFLOL! Last year in class I was shameless. At the end of class El had the cameraman pan the room with everyone holding up their finished blocks. Well, I gabbed so much in class I hadn't finished mine, and as the camera came closer and closer to my area of the room...I sorta panicked. Sew-Sew sat next to me in class and her block was beautiful, but she left her chair while the cameraman was filming everyone holding up their blocks. I saw that camera coming closer and closer.....and at the last minute whipped up Sew-Sew's block and held it up in front of me so I wouldn't be standing there without a block!

GP - My Birds book is signed by Eleanor. You welcome to pick my brain, not sure what you'll find. I like the black border also. I was worried if I made it black and red I wouldn't be able to see it to quilt it. LOL

Re: Snowing Friday in Maine
GP - I just remembered something that Eleanor told us at lunch in January. The class last year added so many extras ( i.e. spiderweb design) that there were 40 more pages for printing. They send the books to China to print and the Chinese were giving people a long time off for the Chinese New Year's this year. Eleanor said she hoped they would arrive before Paducah but it sounded like it would be close.
The embroidery class is posted in QU so I think I will go print and read.

gmaann-watch your seam allowances when using the precut charm squares. all the pinking should be in the seam allowance, but sometimes you might have to use a slightly smaller seam allowance on the squares you cut yourself to make the finished (sewn) piece be the right size. I haven't used them very much for just that reason.

Wow I had to go through all these threads to catch up....My computer and the internet pooped out today so I went to my DD watched the DGSs for a few hours and now I am home and my DH was here to fix everything. Hope you all had a great day...I am working on a pattern from the F&P feb issue...it has sheep in it and since I collect sheep I have to make this for my sewing room wall. I am getting ready to watch the hockey game...so I won;t be able to comment on all the threads here but it sure seems like you all are busy and having fun too. It is so nice to "see" so many of the MIA's finally posting and I am sooo glad you are here...XXXOOOBBL
