Well, this mess started at about 5:00 on Monday, Jan. 26. Power went out about 8:00 Tuesday morning. We had water, but were warned it might run out, we use gas for heating, water heating, and cooking. So we had hot water, but the bathroom was about 60 degrees. We had two of the ventless gas heaters in the family room and porch. They kept us warm on the porch and kept the pipes from freezing. I read on the porch in the daytime while it was light. Then, at night we had oil lamps and candles. Hubby and I played a lot of Yatzhee. The second night, we got tired and went to bed. I asked him what time it was. He said 10 after 8. Well, once we got warm under the quilts, we slept until 8 the next morning. This went on for a few days. On Wednesday morning, he ordered a BIG generator/welder that he can use later. Supposed to come from Memphis on Thurs. morning. He sat in town and waited for the truck all day, didn't come. Waited down there all day Friday. It finally came in late on Friday afternoon. He had to wait for it with our tractor because their forklifts were all behind electric garage doors. He had it up and running within an hour. So, for a week, we have had power with the generator. Everything basically running normal EXCEPT, I had no internet because all of the power was out in our little town. I found out it was back by accident a couple of hours a go. I think the crew has finished with the poles and are now hanging wire on our road. I don't know how long that will take. This crew if from Okla. and I wave real big and say thank you every time I pass some of them.

Bubbles, thank your husband for all of us doing without power. I watched two robins play around in all of this ice last week.

Bubbles, is he anything like my DS? Billy wakes up screaming! There is no warning. He goes from totally out to screaming his head off:)

I've gotten the blocks about 1/3 of the way done, the rest of it should go a little faster though. I'm really hoping to get the top done this weekend. I'm going with DH to have dinner, then I'm going to get back to work:)

Hi -
I became a bit frustrated quilting the border on a quilt this morning so I stopped. I am only on side two, I think I picked a design that was simply too complicated. I really want to finish this side though so in a few minutes I will try again.

I just got the newsletter from a LQS. Author, Earlene Fowler will again be speaking at the quilt shop on March 15th. She will be introducing her new book, "Love Mercy". There is always something to be excited about so I guess I can now look forward to this happening.

Think I will go tackle that quilt again.

Didn't get any sewing done yet, but there's still time. Took a drive to town, picked up a few groceries & visited with SIL & her DH. DH treated me to Culvers for supper, so I'm all set for the night. I'm going to be working on the brights log cabin, wish me luck. We went to the LQS yesterday, (I needed two more colors) and the gal cut the fabric into 2 1/2" strips for me. She said I could be considered armed & dangerous with a rotary cutter in my hand.......I think she's right!

I was in the middle of a nice nap but BH ( brat husband) is making stew and chopping veggies... now I ask you, how can a girl sleep when all she hears is chop.... chop.... chop... tsk tsk...

MaryEllen, good to hear from you, you even sound perky.

Vicky, that quilt is just beautiful... I love it.

James wife... way to go... making him beg you.... you rock.

Cindy, I so wanted to hear about your shopping trip...

Sandy, hope it wroks out... you will think of somethign.

We BH and I, went to town today, our dishwasher died... went to Lowes and pulled open a dishwasher door and the whole thing fell out of the cubby hole it was in.... the dork guy working there said... oh that happens sometimes.. I am so tired of Lowes... still havent found a dishwasher.... but tomorrow is another day.

didn't get much sewing done but did get the sewing room cleaned up a little... tomorrow I want to sew all day...

have a fun evening

Back again..had a nice nap earlier, sure feel better now. Been working on this lap quilt, got the two sections sewn together, just need to do some free motion down the center, where I joined the two, then that's done. Then, the outer edges & the quilt will be finished, yeah! DH gets to help with a quilt label, then we can see about delivering it the first of the week, yeah! Will take some pics when it's all done, really like how it turned out, our friend will be so surprised! Hope it makes her feel better too!

Headed up to bed for the night. I got 5 blocks halfway done, just too tired to even think straight. Hope everyone has a good night & sweet dreams!
