I cut my bindings 2", fold and press in half, sew with a 1/4" seam on front, turn to the back and sew by hand. They end up approx. 1/4".

I will do 2.5 then I usually do 3" I think the narrow binding will fix my problem and you are right since the interior blocks spin the wheat the outer binding can too.

Carolyn - I do hear that Gmann likes to do bindings - you could just send it to her to finish for you - then you wouldn't have to worry about it - lol

well I better go do this binding now that I know what to do. John and I are going to the Macy's 3 day sale they have a small garment steamer on sale for $24 marked down from $60 with another 10% coupon and mine just died and I have a silk jacket that I want to finish sewing. we are meeting Julia on her lunch break to buy it and Macy's employees get another 20% off when they use their employee card

IowaGal - seems like I remember someone on this forum suggesting an embrodery needle for metallic thread??
I do agree with gmaann, I put my spool on the upright holder on my machine with metallic thread - it does feed better - it seems like any tension at all will break it. It is sooo beautiful, but a real pain in the a--! lol
Sewcarolyn - I agree with Littlebit, my vote is for bias binding- the color is the same and so little of it shows when it's done, I wouldn't bother. It's such a pretty, striking quilt that I wouldn't even notice the binding unless it was a contrasting color. But then, I'm a little lazy...LOL!
I'm done with the cutting on my December Block Lotto blocks and starting to put them together. I struggle with fabric choice, but I'm liking my choices...so far!

Carolyn - Your quilt is very pretty! Julia is going to be very pleased the way you have carried the theme throughout the entire process of the quiltmaking.

Hi Carol!
Hey do you want t do the December shop hop? I am going to talk to Betsy and see if she want to also. There are 8 Orange county shops and it looks like they have added a new shop that I haven't ever been to
