Re: Thursday January 30, 2014
Just a quick stop in today. I am finally able to get out and go get my hair cut. DH says I look like I stuck my finger in a light socket. LOL. It seems so trivial compared to all I have read here today. I am going to be very busy today praying for all who need them. It seems like a lot of bad things have hit us all at the same time. I was always taught in church that God doesn't give use more than we can handle, but sometimes I wonder. This has been a weird beginning to 2014.
Will check back later. More snow coming here tonight, and cold again next week. Spring can't get here fast enough.
Sherry

Re: Thursday January 30, 2014
Good afternoon -
First off - Prayers for all - in grief, sick, or just need a prayer!
My life - well - the freezer needs a new compressor - it is under warranty and all the frozen stuff was moved to Sarah's house on Tuesday morning. The new part will be installed on Monday as the storms in the East caused delays here as well.
My car is in the shop today - scheduled - small repairs that needed to be done. So being carless, I have no excuse not to sew! LOL
Last night we went out to dinner was gone just over an hour - was raining on us both ways - then just a little over a hour later, we had 1/2 inch of snow on the back deck - then woke up to 8 inches of the white stuff that needed to be shoveled. As I type it is still snowing - but very lightly. The plows have been through, so the streets are clear. Sure hop that it stays that way when we go and get the car back later this afternoon. We really needed this storm, for snowpack and for the inversion to be gone!
Chriss - Inquiring minds need to know - did the state finally gets its act together? They better have!
I have been leaning to the dark side - hexies - I saw a pattern on Pintrest done with hexies that was a family tree - I could be tempted - still looking at it, but slowly moving to the dark side! LOL
Well I have time to sew now - so Do something fun!
Hugs
Jana

Made it before the snow started. Thank goodness the local shop had a whole bolt of Caroline's collection by Jennifer Chiaverini. I purchased enough for the rest of the sashing and the back. Mostly using left overs for all 140 blocks of the SBS quilt. Just an update.

Re: Thursday January 30, 2014
not a lot of time here.. it's almost dinner time... Spaghetti and meatballs...
Vicky, how wonderful of Daryl to hang cabinets for you... I think you should keep him.
Maryz.. sorry about your brother, I hope by being in the hospital his health improves...I agree, they should tell him something..
Kathy, there has been some unusual fabric in my swaps...but I think I almost have the wording down to keep the funky stuff away...glad your heat is working.. are you embroidering on your redwork pillows?
Karlene, I think I will pass on the booties and look for a sale on wool socks.. I need big socks because I wear a size 10...wonder if Elizabeth's rice booties would have smelled bad if they had lavender in them?
Izzy, we have scads of Robin's too.. I don't really notice the birds until they are here in the winter.. same goes for squirrels.
Lucie, the interviews were ok.. glad they are over.. it was a bit stressful and I thought the day would never end... won't find anything out for a week or so on the job and the adoption will take over 30 days for the report to be submitted... Hope Drew day was lots of fun.
Becca, isn't it funny.. you'd think the cold weather would freeze your allergies but it never works that way.. we had a little rain and poof, I was plugged up.. instead of washing the air it stirred it up...lol.
Vicky, how did Caleb's interview go? tell me again what he was applying for??? I saw your quilt challenge in the swap section.. how big or little does the quilt need to be?
Judi, don't get me started on how wonderful your hexi quilt is.. I just love it.
Cindyg.. I so noticed you not being here yesterday.. next time you aren't going to be here can you at least check in.. I miss you when you're not here...prayers for DH.
Maryq.. it's almost the weekend.. I think this has been the longest week of my entire life...
Sharona, glad you're feeling a bit better, tomorrow will be even better yet.
Suzette, I hope you and your son have the best memory filled day for his birthday.. will there be a picture of the two of you for us? give him a b-day hug from me... Son's are a wonderful thing
O'Dorothy, right now you could go to Fla and teach people to drive in the snow.. you'd make a fortune...
Sherry, I am so glad you got to get out of the house.. bet your hair is beautiful.
Jana,,, oooohhhh a family tree hexi quilt.. go ahead... I double dog dare you....
the interviews... two in one day was really pushing it.. I forget how Jules puts it but I am wiped out... the one for the job was ok.. it's really between me and one other guy.. and we both have our plusses and minuses and should have the answer by the end of next week.. if I am offered the job I will take it but if I'm not offered the job it's fine because I like what I am doing...and hopefully if I am offered the job I can incorporate some of what I do into some of what the job will be... my issue is I want to work 8 hours a day and keep busy, I don't want to play.. I like my day to go by quickly.
thee adoption interview.. I am not sure if the process is this messed up in every state or if California is just in a world all on it's own we have dealt with 4 counties and it's taken almost three years just to adopt... in the last three years Mar has gone from ferral child to a nice young lady... but that means nothing, we still need to go through the red tape.. we have had FBI background checks twice, been fingerprinted twice, we've been asked many personal questions and asked about our own childhoods.
I don't remember much because my childhood was 40 years ago and how do they think I am going to answer when they ask what form of dicipline would I use on Marilyn... give me a break...I really don't like these people...
anyway, the interviewer from the state will take at least 30 days to write up her report.. then she sends it to her supervisor who, get this, is new on the job and has had to take some medical time so hasn't been at work and no one knows how to do her job...it's really so stupid you have to laugh... anyway, after the supervisor edits the report the interviewer comes back to our house and "goes over" their report.. if we pass they give us a financial statement ot fill out..
and here's the kicker... if they find we don't qualify to adopt we will get guardianship.. either way Mar stays in this house and we get the same amount of money each month.. it is so hard not to laugh
so we hurry up and wait some more..our tax dollars at work.
shattered, that is what Jules says... I am shattered...
you all have a super night.. thanks for the prayers and good thoughts..
Chriss
