Today is our sewing group. Hopefully the ladies will get their Santa wall-hangings finished. Velda has her's done and gone, so will help the others. I'm taking my machine today and working on 3 myself. Hopefully I will get to sew and not just answer questions.

Karpet - (not sure what your real name is) I looked back at the posts from a couple days ago and saw your quilt photo. I really like that pattern! It's a very pretty quilt. May have to put that on my long list of want to make's.

Good morning,

I am recovering from my girls yesterday. I made homemade donuts and hot chocolate for about 30! They loved it.

But not too much rest today -it is office moving day as the new furniture for that space will be here tomorrow. It will be nice to have a formal living room again.

I will get to sew today as well. Too cold to go anywhere. Last I looked it was 10 degrees outside.

Stay warm!
Hugs,
Jana

Good morning!

Tracy - I was saddened to hear about the loss of your parents. You have my sympathies and prayers.

Suzette - I know you'll be careful on the awful ice. Good luck at your radiology appt today.

Lois - too bad we all can't have a cookie swap - I know I'd find some new favorites if we did.

Mary/Rose - lovely to see you! I don't know what the stitch is called, but I'm sure someone on here does. I bet Youtube even has videos of it.

Vicky - your day with Shannon sounded perfect! Especially the soup.

Maryz - my goodness - I can't believe you got all that wood home already! I guess we'll have to start calling you Superwoman. That is too cute about Scottie. Our dog Bailey will bark at any dog she sees on tv. That was a great story about Snickers and the Dominoes commercial. I'm crossing everything I have that you get your surprise in the mail today.

Velda - I would love to see pictures of what you've created for your leather furniture. Our concern isn't so much about the dog as it is the cat. How wonderful that you've been so inspired. I love the Secret Santa exchange.

Judi - I love those Christmas shows - they are so precious. I don't like to go out in the cold either. It's funny you mention that about your cat. Ours is learning new things as well. Must be something in the air....

Chriss - how lovely to go shopping by yourself. I just checked them out on Amazon - what a neat idea.

Becca - isn't changing sheets fun...not! Hope you're able to get your cards done.

CIndyb - mom-sit - that's a new one for me! How sweet that your mom calls it that also. I'm not understanding about non-family staying with them, but am glad you've figured out a way to keep your sanity.

Tina - sure hope you don't have to bite your tongue too hard! Enjoy your time with them. That Easton is sure a cutie.

Maryq - I know what you mean about the warm bed. I need a device that catapults me out of bed and into the shower. I really wish it was like that Jetson's cartoon - get out of bed and onto a conveyor belt that gets you showered, dressed, and puts on makeup and does your hair all in like five minutes. And where is my flying jetpack??!?! I'm looking forward to your visit tomorrow before you hit the mall.

Miriam - you paint such beautiful word pictures. It sure sounds like the dogs and y'all are enjoying your romps outside. Yesterday, when we went to town, we passed two different farms where the horses were galloping like crazy through the snow. It was beautiful to watch. We figured they were having fun because it was the first time it was above freezing for a week! They were glad we were out of the deep freeze too.

Cindyg - I would also love to go and buy stuff for a new puppy. How fun! Hope your payroll and bonus adding go quickly.

Izzy - I need to watch that video - thanks for reminding me. That is a lot of miles for one car! And you don't have to talk to your car if you don't want to..! Can't wait to see pictures of your quilts.

Scraps - sounds very cold where you are. Hope the kitty is staying warm.

Lyn - hope you're able to get done what you want today. I also liked Karlene's quilt - it was beautiful.

Not sure what I'll be doing today - probably putting more stuff in the back pantry. I did get the kitchen pantry and the ice box reorganized. DH is in here trying to find tax papers and muttering to himself that we are never, ever moving again. -SIGH- It's still too cold for the workers - hopefully next week they can finish up the roof and get windows and doors installed so they can work on the inside. DH finally realizes we need to heat the shops (he was planning on using space heaters). What is it with him and furnaces anyway....!!! Better scoot - here he comes again for another search. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Good afternoon..

Wow it is Cold, cold and more cold. If I didn't have to go out I'd stay home. Lucy is on wic and she has to be recertified today. We will stop by and visit Vivian on the way home.

Suzette...safe travels. Black ice is scary.

Farmchick....so what did you do with your pecans? I'm wondering because I haven't received any cookies or candy yet!!

Chriss....when is Mar last day for Christmas break?

Izzy...glad your "neighbors" left. That's scary. Did they ever find anything about what they were doing? Is your last day next Friday? Let me know. Have you finished your shopping yet? There is a new go die out that I REALLY need, the hunter star. I saw it online. Joann's had all their dies and cutters 40% off the other day. I didn't see any I liked enough to buy tho.

Vicky...what kind of wall hanging are you making? Hope you post pics when it's finished. Have fun with the grands today.

I hope everyone stays warm and safe. I am off to fix lunch.

Sharon

Good afternoon all,
I heard this morning that 47 of the lower 48 have temps below freezing today. We had a few inches of snow but the worst of it has gone around us again - we keep pinching ourselves! Another storm is heading our way so we will wait and see how big or small that one will be.

I'm working on the second binding and I think I just have two more lengths of thread to finish sewing it on. I'm getting better at using a different stitch for my binding, but it is a learning curve as I keep poking through to the front - I never did that with the old stitch.

With this cold weather, I have a hankering for a good grilled cheese sandwich on crusty bread. They carry some good cheeses at the Aldi store.

Stay warm everybody and drive safe,
Karlene

Good frosty morning all!

It was nice and icy on the roads this morning. Made it to work safe and sound. There was a really bad wreck close to home, though. Looked like the front end of the vehicle went through a shredder. Can't figure out what he hit. Didn't see EMS on the scene, so hopefully no one was injured.

Stopped by Walmart after work yesterday. Had a hankering for vegetable beef soup. By the time I got home and got stuff put away, it was after 7 p.m. I was starving by then. Got the soup made and finally got to eat a bowl close to 9:30 p.m. Told my DH that was an awful lot of work for a bowl of soup. Oh well, we can eat it the rest of the week! I don't know why I can't make a pot of soup for two people....always enough for about 12! LOL Good thing it freezes well.

Traci, so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and you family in my prayers.

Tina, was a precious little grandbaby you have! Glad you are getting to spend time with them.

Maryz, you are turning into a lumberjack!

Sorry, gotta run....customers coming in.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Stay safe and warm.

Hugs,
Mel

Good afternoon from cold, cold, wintery, SW. Pa...I keep asking what happened to that global warming.........Poor little Sunbonnet Sue hasn't ventured out in a few days...She's quite content to stay upstairs and hang out with my machine...Oh the secrets they are sharing.....

Today has been a strange day...Not getting too much accomplished but plugging away....I've been working on the check book which is always good for a headache but I think I've conquered it and happily, it came out on the + side....I did have a call early this morning from #3 DS and he's supposed to stop on his way home which could be any time this afternoon...He always tells me, he's my #1 so I baked some chocolate chip cookies, just for him.....At any certain day, all the boys are #1, right? Of the kids, he's right in the middle.....

It's funny hearing about the quirks of your dogs....Years ago, we had a Shnoodle, gorgeous little long haired black thing...But, if she was in the basement when I had clothes hanging on a line down there and someone made noise upstairs, she barked at the clothes and would pull things off the line...I lost a few things by her guarding the basement ceiling....
So far, we haven't put up the fiber optic tree because of the cats, especially, Baby Girl...It might stay in the box this year.....

Karlene, we too are supposed to be getting another storm or snow or who knows what...I just feel so sorry for our 2 outside cats and although Jim has built them a shelter and keeps it heated, we feel it's not enough....And I agree with you about the cheeses at Aldis....Have you tried the Irish stuff? I got some last year and gave it as Christmas gifts........

Izzy, now that I've shown Jim pictures of your goats and told him about some of your farm life and how you're "packing", he keeps asking if there's anything new going on....My oh my, you could have your own mini series....

Maryz, even though you make that log splitting sound like fun (almost), I sure wouldn't volunteer...Now if you need someone to sit by the fire, give me a call....

Becca, this time of the year, you need those flannel sheets...Just don't wear flannel jammies...I have more trouble trying to roll over, it's like Velcro...........

Well, best get moving...I need to feed the shredder and get this mess cleaned up............

You all have a great day.........
Dorothy
