Good Morning...most of you don't know me but I was active here for years. Linda posted on a FB group that those of us who haven't been around should pop back over. I drifted away because I was very busy and rarely had time to read/post. I have been looking at the wonderful quilt photos.....AWESOME WORK...

I am finishing a quilt today made from a red/blue strip exchange that I hosted here years ago and it is making me smile remembering the friendly chats here. So hello to everyone and purrfect lady I have a photo I just posted on my fb page of Cricket napping on a tablerunner you made for me.

Good morning all,

Happy Birthday, Lois!

Welcome back, sewcarolyn!

Jodie, glad you found your happy.

Well, I didn't do anything fabric-wise this weekend, unless you count laundry! LOL I did have great intentions, but just ended up hanging out with DGS instead.

He can be so funny! I can't even remember what we were talking about, but I said something along the lines that Grandma's know everything....we have Grandma powers. He pipes up that they aren't "Grandma Powers", they are "Old Lady Powers"! LOL He then proceeded to show me how he thinks "Old Ladies" walk...all hunched over with a cane. He got the biggest kick out of that. He then proceeded to let me know that even though Grandpa's are older, they are not "Old"....only Grandma's are "Old". Funny how kids think...

Seems like DH has caught the crud. He has been pitiful all weekend.

Maryz, I hope you have a wonderful visit with your sister.

Well, girls, duty calls...sorry I can't stay and chat. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Hugs and prayers,

Mel

Hi.. back in for a few...

Carolyn--so good to hear from you!!! I think of you often and knew you were always so busy. Are things slowing down any for you? If you are sewing today, does that mean you're not working now?

Sandy--we look like rain, feel like rain, but have no rain here. The only black mud we have is near the cows' feeding area. We do scoop it and spread it around on the gardens. I'm always amazed by the color of the farmland dirt in Iowa and Illinois. Our "dirt" is tan compared with yours!

Jana--What a great story for DS4 and the pit bulls! You can tell that your son is tougher than TWO pit bulls!!! Don't mess with him!

I've been talking with my neighbor/sister-in-law, and we have an 8:00 appointment next Monday morning with the Gammill Factory in West Plains, MO. We will drive on Sunday, make the appointment and hopefully bring the machine back that afternoon. DSIL has to be home Tuesday, so we may be LATE returning Monday night. If we have to, we will leave the machine and either pick it up or have it shipped back to us. It will be a fast trip with probably no stops for LQSs on the there or back. It will be exciting to hopefully get that ancient machine working for us. Maybe we can use it to upgrade to something else later in the future...

I'm now going to tackle one of my "extra" jobs--making cream cheese mints for my DD's work for a reception next week. I'll dry them and freeze them so they will be ready for her. Then it will be on to the other items on the growing list of non-quilting projects. Oh well, I guess it's nice to be needed!!!

Wow, Chickie, we'd meet you in West Plains, but I am having cataract surgery next Monday morning. Enjoy yourself.

Yes I am on Spring Break and this year. like last year, we have 2 weeks off next year we are back to one week off ;) I am always busy it seems but this spring break I am sewing quilts 2 completed last week and off to have quilted (too big for my frame), another one should be done tomorrow and I just found one from a class I took that just needs to have borders added ;)

Last spring I was busy helping my older daughter with her wedding it has been featured on a couple of wedding blogs http://www.weddingchicks.com/2013/03/21 ... e-wedding/

John finished his PhD, Julia graduated with her BA and Izzy completed her MA...and I quilted ;)

Good afternoon everyone

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOIS, hope you have a fantastic day.

there are to many to say a personal hello to, so just want you all to know I'm thinking of you.

On a very sad note Annette Funicello passed away today. RIP Annette. I just love the Mousketters

Carolyn, so nice to "see" you! I have often wondered what you were up to. So glad to see your whole family has been knee deep in continuing education.

I've been lurking. I have one more block to finish on my "House BOM". I started it in 2004!!! Being in Real Estate I thought it would be nice to have a house quilt.

DH has been recuperating from prostate surgery and I'm just rolling along, trying to finish UFO's and keep from starting or adding to some more ufo's.

Don't be a stranger, missed you!

Lucie

Karon—are there any quilt shops in West Plains… you know, something to pass the time while waiting to see if we can take the machine home with us or if we have to leave it. If we leave it and find out soon enough… Springfield and/or Branson quilt shops await… I looked at one website for a shop in W.P., and all the fixtures were for sale—guess it had closed. Too bad!!! Imagine! …in the town of GAMMILL!!! Best wishes for your surgery to be another huge success!!! So sorry we can’t connect this time! Who knows? We may go back and pick it up and get some hands-on instruction (if we leave it Monday).

Lucie—oh, you definitely need a house quilt!!! I think of you whenever I see them!!! Hope your DH is doing well and not being the wrong kind of model patient!!! HUGS!!!

Joan—so good to hear from you, too!!! Oh, so sorry about Annette!!! I wondered how she had been doing. Shades of my childhood… Weren’t the Mousketeers fun in the 50s!!! Yep, I’m ancient!!!

Carolyn—Lots of college going on!!! That’s wonderful—congratulations on being the proud mom of such a great set of kids!!! Beautiful wedding!!! Your DD is a lovely bride!!! Did you do the pillows? Very neat touch!!!

I got the mints mixed, made a cheesecake and gave DH a hair/beard trim/cut. I think I’ll put my feet up for a few and have a cup of tea then fix dinner… Mom is doing well today. My niece’s friend and her daughters are going by today; I’ll go again tomorrow. Mom made aprons for the two little girls—one for cooking with her mom, the other for wearing while training her dogs—pockets to hold leashes and dog treats… too cute!

…”just another manic Monday”… Hope your day is going well!!!

JANA - I loved the boot story from your DS! Love it when the cops win!!

CAROLYN - what a pleasure to see you post! I've missed you! Congrats on all the accomplishments in your family. Loved Puffin on FB!

CHICKIE - I'm sorry but I'm still laugning - "when you finish your other projects . . ." Good luck with the Gammill!

SHERRY - sorry about your ice-maker. It's a great excuse, though, to get a cat! Or another cat! Or catS!

SHARON - sometimes I think the preparation and the anticipate of such an event is almost as much fun as the event itself!

SHARONA - thanks for watching out for my sis! And if I can ask another favor, please see that it's clear next week for her to go home again because we dont' want her stuck here! lol!!

JOAN - we just saw that about Annette. very sad. My DH is in mourning.

MEL - your DGS says the funniest things! I hope you're writing them all down because you'll be rich one day when you publish a book of all his "-isms"!

I kind of laid back today and just enjoyed my sewing room for the first time in a few weeks! I've only had short 10-30 min. stints in there. I have my cabin swap blocks just about finished! If you are thinking of joining (there are still 7 slots open), you better shake a leg because I'm packing away my fabrics. I am done!

Now to watch some TV until it's time to fetch the sister!

See you tomorrow if I have time!
