Good Cloudy Morning....but it's 44'!

Knitting class was fun. Worked out the neck hole problem. We went from 3 to 6 students. There will be 2 more classes next month. With all the shoveling I do I need a better hat, I like the ear flap hat with the ties that hang down. I did buy a lap top yesterday...OH, Happy Dance!!!
Now I have to get cable here to put in a router for wireless.
Today day is a vac & sew day for me.

Suzette.....I guess your dogs were tired from getting up early yesterday. It always feels good making a quilt from the stash that is why we have one. Plus room for new fabric is important.

Vicky....will pray for your DH headache & message. I'm happy to hear your feeling better.

Lea....good to know as I meed to make a hair appt soon. No camping for me.

Kathy2....I have the same problem with Joanns. A Michael's opened near me but it'a all about scrap booking. What beautiful papers & stickers. I did use a 40% coupon for new blades.

Sherry.....it dose sound like a good day for you to rest & sew. I know nothing about Curling except the pushing of the 'stone' but it puled me in. I watched some of men & some of the woman. Feel better.

Maryz....lol...since you.ve been in Austin I've called my daughter there more. Not so much that she'll think I'm off my rocker. I'm so happy you all are having a good time. That is amazing story about Terry's sister. Hello to Jane.

Judi....your post sound so relaxed. The polish sounds like a wonderful place to go. Enjoy.

Sooz.....I'm tired for you! Did you do that after work? That will be a wonderful treat for you DH.

Love & Prayers for all in need.....Kathy

Good Morning Girls

And a Very Happy Sunday to you all! The sun is shining and it's so BRIGHT out on all the new snow. If I didn't hate the snow so much I would say it's pretty out side!

Had a fun time at my brother's picnic yesterday! Got to see all my siblings and tell funny stories about my folks. My sister is planning the memorial service for my Auntie for July, so we chatted about that for a bit. Auntie did not want a funeral service/mass at all, but we want to have a nice graveside service for her. July will be a better time, so my cousin from California can come up as well.

Didn't get any chores done at all yesterday, so that's on the agenda for today. Am hoping I can whip through the house with a dust rag and vac and get to the sewing room ASAP. Mr. Maytag will run while I sew. Am anxious to get Jen's top done and play with some R & W blocks and maybe a March Lotto block or two. The Fabric I ordered for Jen's--for the drop borders arrived yesterday so I have to do a little math for cutting them and get it all washed. A little vinegar in the wash with the red? How much? A cup or so?

Vicky.... You know that's one of my favorite verses! I try to find something to rejoice about every day!!! Glad you are feeling better and hope that God will Lift that headache right out of DH today!

Chriss. When is Marilyn's birthday? A 7 page list? How is the paper work going for the adoption? Are you any closer to getting the final word and date to make it official?

Suzette... I tell myself ALL the time to use up what I have in my stash, but then I check out Missouri Quilt every day for their daily deal and when they have charm packs I can't resist! When room mate moves out, I'm going to take an inventory and reorganize. I bet I have enough fabric for 100 quilts--if I just had the time to make them!

Sooz... Man OH Man, you must be exhausted from all that cleaning! when I'd have a day like that my Mom would ask "are you getting your period?" Every once in a while that ambitious streak would hit me and sure enough... a week later...... Hope you enjoy your company...

Maryz.... I fly up on May 3rd! This time the non stop flight was cheaper than a lay over... so I won't get a chance to call to say HI! I'll wave as I go over. I'm getting so excited.. and part of me wants to get my suitcase out and start packing--but it's a little early for that. It's always more fun to WATCH somebody paint than actually have to DO it!

Sherry.. I have to tell you a funny story about curling! The first time I met my MIL (when we were just dating) DEX drove me up to his home town in northern MN where Curling is big. We drove by the Curling rink--with a sign that said "Eveleth Curling Club" I said "Oh what a cute name for a beauty shop" Being a city girl, I'd never heard of curling. Tho I did think it was kind of an ugly building for a beauty shop. DEX sure got a kick out of that and told everybody! Sure hope you feel better today!

Judi... Were there any cute Cowboys at that restaurant?

Kathy... Yeah for a new lap top!!! Hope you can figure out the wireless thing... I still have DSL and have tried to do wireless, but it's just over my head.. and the DSL works so I stick with it. Glad you got your knitting worked out! Google knitted hat patterns, there's a TON in the internet!

Kathy2.... There's a Joann's on my way home from work... very dangerous!!! I can't seem to get in and out of there for less than $100. This week I work late shift, so thankfully Joann's is closed by the time I leave! Every time I think about buying more "stuff" I remember I have a falling-down ceiling and that's where my fabric money has to go!

Well girls, If I am ever going to get in the sewing room today, I better get butt in gear, throw on my work clothes, crank up some music and rock out those chores! Just hit me a little while ago that today would be my 41st Wedding anniversary! Best thing I got out of the whole deal is my kids! So I have no sadness about the day!

Wishing you all most wonderful day full of God's Blessings!

Good Sunday morning! I really slept in. I woke up, thought I’d close my eyes for a few minutes… next thing I knew it was an hour and a half later. I’ve taken my bone med, got the laundry started, made myself presentable, and now it’s coffee time with you!

I had a neat day with Mom yesterday. She and my sister (my sister mostly) are working on some old photos, and Mom asked me if all of mine burned. Most of them did, but I found a box in storage. In the box were some old photos, my ceramic baby bowl—the kind you fill the outside with hot water to keep the food warm, a little marble heart made for me when I was a toddler by an old man (no disrespect, he was very old), and my high school diploma. I took the photos to town; my sister came over, and we all looked at the pictures and talked about them. What a fun trip down Mom was so pretty! Most of my pictures were from San Francisco. I was naked on a blanket in Golden Gate Park long before the Hippies were there!

My friend got the borders on her baby quilt, and next week we will sandwich it and tie it.

Suzette—since my late husband passed, I don’t keep track of NASCAR. I was going to take him to Daytona, but he got too ill go make it. We went to a race in Phoenix the year before, and he had the time of his life. I keep looking at baby things and needing new grandbabies or maybe a great. Maybe some day… all in good time, I guess.

Vicky—we knew Emily would be fabulous! I’m so glad to hear you are feeling better—keep taking it slow and let yourself restore.

Scrap—Some of our renters sound like your neighbors. My neighbor also has a son who is bi-polar and has fits of rage. It is very frightening for the family. That is why my neighbors are raising their grandson; his dad is too unstable. You go, Girl! Your day is planned!

Kathy2—Your SBS blocks are so pretty! I vote for the quilt shops over JoAnn’s unless you are after batting or something with a good coupon.

Sherry—best wishes for Pepper! I love the country, too! The best neighbors are the deer, the trees and my lovely cows! I don’t miss the rat race of the city at all.

MaryZ—Ha, ha! I have done half birthdays but not the 1/12th ones. I shall remember that when I make fabric purchases… presents to me for my --/12th birthday! That would be fun to drop in with Tina for a quilting day. Enjoy your time with Autumn! Terry’s sister lived an amazing life; she certainly turned her disabilities into abilities with the help of her sister.

Judi—Sounds like you are having a wonderful time while the North is in the deep freeze.

Sooz—sounds like you are feeling better! My sewing room is also our guest room. Enjoy your company! My DD’s hospice company is at record patient count; she has been super busy, too. Such a blessing to have good people helping to ease the hurting. Thank you!

Chriss—I have a Sidewinder for bobbins. I never mess with the machine bobbin winders. It was one of the first items I replaced after the fire—necessary! You may be able to get a new bobbin race (not sure if that is the correct term). Good luck!!! A new machine is not in my budget, either. Mine is a used machine from the repairman that was a trade-in.

Those of you east of me… yesterday was beautiful! Mid-60s that felt like 70s. Today, however, is another story… windy and chilly—only in the 40s, but it is sunny.

MaryQ—your picnic was much like my visit with Mom and my sister. I have the same addiction with MSQC. How funny about the curling club/beauty shop! Being from KS and CA, I wouldn’t have any idea, either. I’m sure DEX enjoyed the joke!

Kathy—you can do the router yourself; I did when we had BlueSky. I think I just ordered a router from Amazon. The company we have now provides the router. I love being able to take my laptop around the house and into my sewing room. I also got myself a Kindle for Christmas, and it works off the wireless as well.

I need to check the laundry. I have two loads of EXTRA Heavy Duty—all of DH’s clothes from his sewer work. Hopefully it’s all fixed… for now. I think I have just enough to pass over the floors before he gets back from coffee...

Have a blessed Sunday!

MaryZ - the county fair is not until August. So I do have time. I can even enter the future baby quilt. So we will see

I have not made it out to my studio. But, I have done something constructive. We have a pie safe that my husband had bought his mom and when she passed away we got it back. Well, we decided to paint it since it was unfinished. We painted it a pale buttery yellow. The backing was coming off so we took it off and I covered it with contact paper and he put it back on. I have to say it has come out really nice. A couple of things to do before the race comes on. Have a good afternoon.

I will stay until the deconstruction is done. Hope to get a couple of bids for reconstruction, then flying back to Texas. Don't know yet when we will get it fixed.

I'm taking today off. Came down the mountain last evening to my DD's house. Getting a grand kid fix. They are growing so fast.

Happy Sunday, Everyone!!

Our little DGS came over for about 9 hours yesterday. Not sure who wore whom out. He's coming back over for a few hours so they can get things settled in a little more.

SUZETTE - Using up your stash for projects is a great plan. After all, that is why we buy these prizes. I, too, would love to do something for the county fair but I am too much of a coward yet.

VICKY - Glad you are starting to feel better.

LEAH - Any day is a good day for camping, in my book anyway.

KATHY2 - After finishing your last SBS block, I bet you are glad the end is in sight.

SHERRY - Get well soon. I think we all could use a good dose of sun and warmer weather!

MARYZ - You are definitely ambitious with your DJ quilt. And using crayons to make a color plan is an awesome idea!

JUDI - So glad that you had a great time with your sister.

SOOZ - Busy Cleaning! You are my true hero!!

CHRISS - Grandma shopping is the best shopping in the whole world! I can't seem to stop!

KATHY - I have never been brave enough to tackle a sweater. I do the easy stuff - hats and blankets. Someday I plan to try cables.

MARYQ - Sunny bright Sunday to you also - lucky person! I am so happy that you enjoyed your family Mid Winter picnic.

CHICKIE - The picture of a baby laying on a blanket in Golden Gate Park means that you were the original hippy. You were a baby, right? I am also glad that you had a great time with your mom and sister.

LYN - Keeping those papers on the cost of the floor was a very good move. Fortunately they weren't destroyed by water. Insurance adjusters are notorious at underbidding a project. I know - they are protecting their employer - the insurance company.

SANDY - Hope that you DGS gets better soon.

I found El's Kaleidoscope Quilt book in my sewing room the other day. I had forgotten that I even had it. I showed it to our DD and her fiancé and asked if he would like a quilt made like this. Of course, he said, "Sure!" So now, I need to work on a kaleidoscope quilt in a queen size. Hopefully, it won't be difficult. Wish me luck!!

Have a great, blessed day,
Diana

Diana--I was in the hippie generation, but this was waaaay prior to that... 68 years ago. We lived in an apartment building near the docks, so for fresh air we rode the bus to Golden Gate Park or to the beach. I also have memories of "sittin' on the dock at the Bay" fishing off the piers with my dad.

good afternoon. I have been shopping and everyone has groceries... boy have prices ever gone up.... I think that dollar stores are going to be the way to shop for a lot of people...

Kathy, how exciting to get a new lap top. I love mine... I use it often. I have net flix on it and watch movies while I sew... it's really a cool toy. my son hooked up the Wi-Fi stuff and I am clueless as to how he did it... find a teenager and lure him in with candy... no, wait.. that's probably not good advice...lol... glad your doll sweaters worked out for you... I like those hats with the ear flaps too...

Maryq.. Marilyn's b-day is March 3rd.. her bday is 03/03/03..I told her instead of a 7 page list of wants maybe she should write down the ones she already has...not sure the adoption will ever be final..lol... we have been told to "just let the professionals handle it" we've been waiting close to 3 years and confidentially the professionals aren't worth a darn. so exciting you're going to see the kids...I bet you can't wait...it will be here before you know it...glad the picnic went well..

Chickie.. I didn't think of one of those bobbin winder things... thanks... I will check it out...they probably have them at Joann's.

Suzette, I be the pie safe is really pretty painted with contact paper at the back.. great idea....Jerry is making a coconut cream pie with chocolate... if you bring the safe here we will put the pie in it...

Lyn... I believe a grand kid fix is exactally what the doctor would order for you... perfect idea... smooch them for me too.

Diana... lucky you didn't find a Baltimore Album quilt book to show to your daughter...lol... the kaldescope is really a pretty quilt.

has anyone heard from Scrappy Pat?

I think I will go and cut some fabric... need to get those red and white blocks going...

you all have a fun afternoon.

Wouldn't you know it, planned to get the two quilts basted ready for quilting, one made other short 6 inches of poly. See if can patch left overs tog. Yet, like the idea of going shopping for batting. But when I get there, it be yard of this and a yard of that, like a candy store.

Promised myself I'd keep away from fabric store till March 28.. That's seem long stretch..

Pulled out the crazy patch UFO/ruler project. Before I knew ktn was snipping my feet, and we had to stop for diner. Olympics are OVER! Getting a little long..

I followed MaryZ's idea about using crayons to color a pattern. DD and fiancé have picked out the kaleidoscope pattern for their quilt. I tried using various combinations of their colors and tried to make things work. Their colors are aqua blue, silver, and black. I could not get those 3 colors to work out without the black taking over. Any suggestions? I did post this on the chit chat board because I can use all the help I can get.

Thanks,
Diana
