Born and raised in Waterford, Maine home of 19th century humorist
Artemus Ward, whose lecture techniques exercised much influence on such humorists as Mark Twain. Also home of the famous North Waterford World's Fair, 1906 to present day.

My hometown, farming/agriculture, good homemade cooking, stay home mothers, Gypsum mine.. Lots of gardening. For me, it's bronco riding treehouses chasing wildlife, lots of strange pets to care for and adopt. Good use of imagination. Quilters, seamstress, knitters.

Never a dull moment? I don't know really..

Not much history around my old town. Abe Lincoln spent a night there. My current residence-my house was built in 1848. The area around us has ties to Al Capone. His sister lived in ahouse near the skating rink (house is gone now) His mechanic owned a lot of the land that my son's boss farms or owns, including the house and barn. Oregon is known for Laredo Taft a sculpter. He did the Indian over looking the Rock River. Most folks call it Black Hawk statue. It has another name. Black Hawk was in this area. Stillman Valley had a skirmish of sorts with him and Abe Lincoln was the captain involved. If you go to Dixon, (20 minutes from us) you have the hometown of Ronald Reagan. He lived there and was a life guard there. I think there is going to be a new statue of him soon. Dixon has also been in the news for the biggest theft of funds. Over 50 million by Rita Crundwell. That was 2 years ago and they are still getting that mess turned around. Dixon has also been on you tube with a video of some "superheros" doing pay it forward deeds in the community. Travel to our North and you will be in the town of Mt. Morris and Kable Publishing was there. Part of it still is. If you ever read the dear abbey columns, note at the bottom where she says you can order one of her books from that town.

Oregon has several state parks. Gary's great-great GF farmed the White Pines state park, his cabin was at the wishing well. We have Castle Rock to our east. That is all I can think of about this area. Or you can travel to Lowden Park and take a hike over to look at the statue. if any of you like camping, you can always head this way..

Born in Louisiana. My Mom's family are from Louisiana. Bayous, Lakes, Pelicans, Cypress Trees, Oil Fields and Cajuns/Rednecks and Southern Belles. I am a Southern Bell by the way!

My dad's family are from Kentucky and Texas. Dad
worked in the Oil Field 9 years and later for Arkla Gas Co. and Texas
Railroad Commission. I have
lived around the Oil industry all my life. My Grandfather was
a Foreman for Mobil Oil Co. He was part of the Oil boom years. My husband worked for Shell Oil in Houston, Texas. I guess Oil is in my
blood, ha!

My hometown is Hartland, Vermont. My family has lived there since before the Revolutionary War, yes, that one! They moved from Boston, Massachusetts for more land.

Orson Bean (Hollywood Squares) would visit has grandparents in the summer, and my Dad and he would sneak off and skinny dip in the Connecticut River....which would have gotten them in trouble two ways if my Grandmother had found out! I remember meeting him once and was dumbstruck that Dad t related him like and old friend,

Charlie Bronson also used to own property in my hometown.

That's pretty much it. I went to a one room school, we didn't have any stop lights or blinking yellow lights when I was coming up, we rode bikes all over the village, and Mom always knew where we were, what we bought at the store, etc, because everyone knew everyone else. And in most cases, we were related in some way,
