Lois - we are supposed to get just a dusting to 1" tonight. I agree, snow is a dirty 4 letter word now.
Mary Z - thanks for the nice words. Sometimes I wonder if I am crazy for trying to do all that I do.

I told my hubby that after this is all over with (including the re-fi)that we needed to go away for a weekend. There is a place in Luray, VA where my parents went on their honeymoon. Maybe we will go there. I am afraid if I went to somewhere warm I wouldn't come back.

Good morning.. not sure what today will bring but my red fabric is all washed and looking for my iron. I think I have my block all picked out and ready to go...

Chickie.. hope those migranes go away.. they are really awful...

Suzette, you are quite a woman.. getting radiation, shoveling your driveway and sewing... kind of like that tiger song.. they're gonna hear you roar, nothing stopping you...

Teresa, did you look on Quilters Cache for the block? I was on Pinterest most of last night looking at blocks.. and I still managed to watch Tinker Bell part two...and was informed they are making a part three... joy joy...

Jules, what a blessing to have today to yourself.. you can do whatever you want and no one will know.. enjoy your you time... your family will still be in my thoughts tomorrow...hugs.

Lois, when the first snow of the season hits people say "oh, how pretty" then a few weeks later it's "I wish it were spring" then a few weeks later it's "I am so sick of this crap"....wish we could build a tunnel from your house to mine, we could use the snow here...

Leah, enjoy your jammie day... we tried planting potatoes once, didn't get much of a crop.

Judi, your camping spots sound wonderful... don't you love when your man looks in the tote, shakes his head and packs it anyway without a word... it's a good feeling.

Maryz.. how is the new camping spot?

Maryq.. I can't believe he's walking.. May will be here before you know it....how exciting.

Diana, sounds like you are getting in the swing of things.. what will be your next project.?

I posted my red/white swap yesterday and it's already half full.. amazing...and now I am off to iron fabric then if I get really lucky I will sew..

you all have a wonderful day,
Chriss

Good Sunny Morning......

It's a chilly 8' BUT the sun's out!! Snow tomorrow....lol.. Today I have to bring my glasses in for new lenses. I found my back up pair & now I don't need to buy a whole new pair. Then it home & the day is mine though I should go to my sister's to drop off my Valentine gifts. We'll see how I feel.
The guild meeting was very interesting. Crazy Quilts. Quilts I love to look at but would never make. She has a shop with quilting, embroidery, & Knitting. Sounds like a great place. She was very enthusiastic about crazy quints & funny. I signed up for a pillow case making for needy children on 3/1 & a circle applique tablerunner in Aprin.

Suzette....Happy Quilting. Sorry there's more shoveling on the way. Praying for a smooth treatment.

Teresa.....how painful. I've only had 1 tooth ache as a child but I do remember it clearly! Don't remember that quilt. Sleep well.

Jules......I'm so sorry this is all taking so long. How is your sister doing? You are all in my prayers. I've heard that your rain was of biblical proportions. I hope your sewing brings you some comfort today.

Lois.....enjoy you day off. You sure do have some changes coming up. I'm in need of a quilt show...it been years since I've been to one.

Lea....I ordered a free mini Hollyhock & bulbs from Brecks for just shipping. Good luck with you garden how big is it. I've never grown potatoes. This year I'm doing tomatoes & cuc's. My garden is 4'x4'.
Good luck with the job....front desk could be interesting dealing with people.

Judi.....so happy you are finding it warmer. I miss the ocean smell & sound. Think of me.

Maryz....Your day sounds wonderful. I love hearing of you travels

Maryq.....your snow will be here tomorrow. The snow on the sides of the driveway is now chest high. It's getting hard to lift it up & over. I wish I could push it into the road. WOW....80 blocks!! you sure had a good sewing day finishing them up.

Diana....anything for a baby is a good start. We're due for some 'warm' weather this week. They say the 50s...we'll see.

Love & Prayers for all.....Kathy

Suz - that's exactly what I say after a long holiday weekend at the lake and after Christmas and Thanksgiving - I have to come to work for a rest.

Teresa - sorry you have that toothache. That is so miserable....dangerous, too, if it's an abscess. It's good you are going to the dentist today.

Jules - sounds like you need this day to yourself so I'm glad you are getting it. The balloon thing was a very nice thing to do. We can't do that here - the balloons burst and the birds ingest them and die.

Lois - training for what other job? Did I miss this or did I forget? My memory is getting SO bad.

Scrap - you are thinking spring, aren't you, looking at the flower catalogues. Good luck with the job.

Judi - ahhh you're in Atlanta. I wish I were there as I have a good friend who lives there. She has a little bit of fabric. Always fun to go visit. Enjoy FL. I hope, for your sake, that the no-seeums are not around. They bother me but don't bother Don - aggravating.

Maryz - if I were you I wouldn't let Bill anywhere near Ken - LOL LOL. Today you pack up and tomorrow you move? Your sis conquers her winter blues by looking at flower catalogues - I guess I browse fabric stores on line while I'm at work because I wish I were home sewing. It gets me in trouble, all that looking at fabric. It really needs to stop. I remember the days when I only bought fabric enough for the quilt I was starting and no more. That's a habit I should have kept!

Maryq - walking????? He was just born last month, right???? LOL Gosh, they grow up so fast. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you finish that quilt before you go.

One of my grandson's came and spent the weekend with us. He's 13 so he was in front of my computer with ear buds in and texting all at the same time. Things were quiet - LOL. Yesterday I worked at clearing off my cutting table and I realized I just have way too much stuff for way too many projects. I need to keep myself off of the fabric/pattern websites and just dive into what I have and get some things done. It's just ridiculous - I have nowhere to put all the stuff and it drives me crazy. So I barely got to start a tote in spring fabrics for my DD and the rest of the time I was outlining my applique. I was lazy and didn't wash a single article of clothing so tonight's the night. I'm leaving work early to go to the doctor with Don at 4:15 to discuss Don's cancer and hear the options - I'm assuming there's options. It's scary but I've got my big girl panties on so I'm ready.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good Morning to all, above and below.

DD says house is worse now than September. She took lots of photos and loaded them on my photo bucket. I will try a post some on my thread. It is so humid it has destroyed a Singer Featherweight's finish. She told me there was no water on it. I don't know why I left that machine on my sewing cabinet down there. The others are upstairs. There's a large plastic tote of files that did not have a cover on it, it is full of water. There are two other totes, that are on top of others, that have rulers and stuff off some shelves and no lids on them......full of water. I put everything in plastic totes so they would be safe from water seeping in, never thought of water pouring down.

The break in the garage is a hot water heating system pipe. We had moved DH's woodworking equipment to the front of the garage. Water has gotten on some and it is already rusty. Plus the drywall fell on some. Don't know what caused the water above my sewing room. DD's boyfriend pulled down some of the drywall, but didn't locate problem. Probably good he opened up ceiling, so it can dry some. Worry is mold, and DD said it's so humid that water is dripping off windows like someone just took a really long shower.

Will be making several calls today. Not sure yet if I will fly back or if we will both go and drive. DH doesn't want to deal with it, he is very depressed. Just between us, I would rather go up by myself and leave him here to fish. Less chance of him getting more upset and having a heart attach.

This is not as bad as some of the problems ya'll are having. My prayers go out to those in need.

Lyn

Diana - I'm so glad you got your sewing machine out - a year is much too long to be away from it.

Chriss - you are off today, too? So you are having yourself a 4-day weekend. Not fair!

Kathy - glad you enjoyed your guild meeting. I've seen some gorgeous crazy quilts - some were even paper pieced and then embellished with embroidery stitches, beads, etc. And these were done with cotton fabric, not satin or velvet - they were still very pretty.

Still enjoying reading your posts - well almost all posts are good to read.

CHRISS - My next project would be to make a quilt for our DD who is getting married at the end of March but I don't think I am ready for a project that big yet. I will be doing small things - like making a ring-bearers pillow, or a dress or something for me to wear to her wedding. But, I am excited to be sewing again!!

KATHY - I love to look on line for fabric but I prefer touching it first. So, I look for something on line and try to find it out at the stores. Our stores are pretty limited here. We do have 2 nice quilt stores within 20 miles, a Hobby Lobby, and 2 Joann's. But, with taxes due and boat loads to pay for our "comfortable" lifestyle, we owe. Looking is free for now.

CINDYG - Have a great day.

LYN - I forgot to add, your issues are bad in their own rite. I cannot imagine having to clean up from major water damage. I totally understand why you would want to leave DH at home. I have my parent's old house, where I grew up, to clear out. There is still lots of stuff in it and furniture. When I go up there, I want DH to stay home and out of my hair. I wish I could come and help with your work.

Good morning all -

They are supposedly coming to continue working on the floors, and the furnace guy should also be here to finish installing the furnace in the garage. Yay for us!

Cindyg - I'll be praying for your appt today.

Love to all - need to get DHs breakfast ready. xoxo Sharona

Good morning, good morning,
Cindyg - prayers for your meeting w/ the doctor this afternoon.

Jules - prayers for the funeral tomorrow.

Dorothy - Enjoy your escape to Florida!

Sherry - it sounds like the remembrance service at your home went well. I can not imagine your loss.

Chriss - wish I could have joined in on your thrift-store hop!

Maryq - You keep such a positive attitude - it is contagious.

Maryz - so you and Bill are the magic elves that secretly do chores when the owners are out!

Kathy - that would be interesting with the crazy quilts. I love to look at them and would like to try one someday.

Vicky - hope the antibiotics are starting to work for you.

Miriam - what a scary thing to have happen in one of your rentals. So glad the girl is okay (and everyone else.)

I was craving brownies yesterday and I actually found a recipe that only uses 2 tbsp butter and tastes chewy/chocolatey, even Elizabeth and David liked the taste! The other recipe I was looking at used 1 1/3 cups butter! I bet it tasted good too! Have a great day everyone,
Karlene

Suzette I agree some weekends you can't wait to get back to work to rest.
Lois I know this year is flying by.
Judi enjoy your vacation I'm sure it's a welcome change from all the snow.
Mary be careful on the highway so many people are crazy out there in the bad weather
Chriss I'll have to check out the red white blue swap.

As for me I have to drop my car off to have the bumper repainted because the paint bubbled when they painted it last year. Then I'll be without a car for two days so I guess I just have to stay home and sew.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day .
