Re: Friday February 14th - HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY!!!!
Happy Valentine's . Day. We do not celebrate....decided long ago we don't need chocolate or card Ken calls it a Hallmark Holiday. I am not a big chocolate fan so we skip it....We know we are each others valentines.
Today is packing day.....this morning we will heat u the camper and turn on the fridge...it is already cold so here we go....we hope to be on the road around 8;30 tomorrow morning, to meet my sis and her hubby for breakfast...the diner we go to is in a strip mall so there is plenty of room to park the rigs.
I want this trip to be over so I can enjoy the beach and hopefully sun...
I am sorry to leave all this cold and snow!!!!!NOT!!!!.
Hope you all feel better soon and are warmer soon. I will have internet some of the time so I can check in....I promise not to mention the weather,,,,,,or the beach.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY to everyone.Still snowed in here & cannot get out.Our celebrating will be next week when we get out.Our DGSIL Took 3 hrs to get home from college,8 miles in 3 hrs.
TERESA Happy Anniversary to you & DH.
MARYZ Happy Anniversary to you & Bill.
Velda Winston Salem has 10 ins of snow so DS can enjoy. They do not usually get it.
Vicky Just take care & get well soon.I know how meds are.NOT fun.
Leah Enjoy your quilt show.Sounds like fun.I love looking at others work.
We do have sun this morn so that will help to melt the snow I hope. Our DGS is flying home from Africa today.Has been on a mission trip for 2 wks digging wells for them.Lots of the villages have no wells.Have to walk 1 1/2 miles & pay 10cents for a gallon. One day a day is what they live on so that is a big hole out of living expenses. And we think we have problems.
Laundry is going.Got uglies done yesterday. With my last topper everything went wrong.Hope today is better.
Prayers to all in need...Becca

great news here... the President is coming to Cali... he will be south of us and to shop I am traveling north.... the traffic should be on the other side of the freeway both coming and going.. woo for me.
Sherry, what a wonderful idea to have a small closure service...I will keep you in my thoughts today... and for the record, I do believe your husband hears what you are talking to him about... I talk to people in my life who have passed on...God bless you, wish I could give you a nice big hug today...

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

Since I have learned how to use Photobucket, I am having too much fun!
We are back into winter mode here with cooler temps at 15F (-9C) and cloudy. Went out to feed our kitties and the birds. I am throwing the seed on the ground for the birds because there's so much snow, we can't get to the feeders. However, temps are to be near 50 by the end of next week!!! Our DD is getting her marriage license today so a wedding is in our very near future also!!!
Teresa and Mary Z - Congratulations on the anniversaries!!
Lois - Congrats to you also for 36 years, well almost 37.
Sooz - Yumm - a Mexican meal and then a beach walk. We could do the Mexican restaurant but it would a snow walk down the road.
Suzette - I hate it when the plows bury the drive. We have a DS who comes out and plows us out along with the farmer who farms our ground. I do have to say THANK YOU to our county highway department. This year as they plow, they slow down when they come to a mailbox so they don't blow it off the stand! I must remember to send a huge thank-you card when the snow is finally over.
Vicky - being sick ain't no fun especially hen you have lots of things that you want to do.
Scrappie48 - Dang! You get to go to a Holiday Inn Quilt Market!! Lucky you!!
Sherry - So glad that you have nicer weather for your closure service. Continue talking - he's still there in you heart.
Grammiequilts - Don't overdo the packing part. O always take too much and don't get to do half of what I wanted to do. But it is there in case I need it.
Becca - celebrate your DGS return from the mission trip to Africa. My cousin's son works in Africa working with orphaned children with AIDS. Mission work can be gratifying and scary at the same time.
Debi - Christmas in February can be tons of fun unpacking boxes with fabric is always fun. Surprises in every one!

Re: Friday February 14th - HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY!!!!
Happy Valentines day to all.
Not sure what is going on here today. I will bake a couple of pies for my valentines. The other ones may get a rawhide to chew on for the day.
I have a couple of gals from our church wanting to learn to quilt. The first one who said anything is only 14 and when I said I would be happy to teach her, we could see what day her mom would let her come over. Well her Mom said she wasn't coming without her. The 14 year old had never sewed until last week. I cut some strips and had her start with a nine patch. If any of you have any 3 1/2 inch strips in spring, cheery colors and want to send a couple this way, we should would love to have them. I looked for the pay it forward column with no luck and posted a short one in the chit chat thread.
Another day with no snow, I think. Tomorrow should make up for it. Then it turns to rain/freezing rain and then back to rain on Sunday and Monday. At least Feb is half over. The robins have to come back soon don't they?
Some laundry and cleaning and sewing and baking. Have a good day all.
Sandy, off to get busy.

Re: Friday February 14th - HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY!!!!
Good morning! I can't stay but a few... will hope to be back later. Yesterday I spent ALL day waiting for the HUD inspector. He finally showed up and did a re-inspection. All inside things passed but they wanted a downspout outside on gutters that didn't get taken down when DH put the steel roof on the house. The gutters are UNDER the roofline and non functional, but they want a downspout before they will pass. Isn't that crazy! DH is going to take the gutters off. We have to get a 30' ladder and he has to climb it and take off each section of guttering while I hold the ladder. Thankfully it is just one side of the house, and only half of the side. If it were anyone whose son was in the unit other than my friend's son, DH wouldn't jump through the hoops. However, this does help my friend's son with his rent on his limited income from his severe disability. The inspector was just getting trained last month, so he is really picking on everything he can find no matter how crazy it is. We now have one circuit with 3 GFI receptacles on it, even though it was built to city code when DH installed it with one. Can you see us--we are exercising--jumping through hoops!
A couple of nights ago, we had a shooting at our little house (rental). The local news stations (50 miles away) came and had pictures of the house on the news. What a shocking, crazy situation. A guy was roughing up his wife (he was alcohol influenced) and a friend stepped in to help her. Well, no good deed goes unpunished, and the kid who stepped in to help is in the hospital with two gunshot wounds. That is the most major event we have ever had with a rental. I feel so sorry for the wife. She is a sweet girl who has two jobs--coaching basketball in one town and special ed teacher in another. They also have a darling little girl around 3 years old.
Have I mentioned I really wish we were not in the rental business!!! I'm too old for this excitement.
I'll come back later... I need to mend a pair of paramedic pants for DS3, and of course we will be going to town...
Happy Valentine's Day to ALL!!!
Sherry--hugs to you. I think your service is very appropriate and will help you with your feelings. I'm sure that everyone will get to share happy memories of your DH.
Vicky--maybe you should get some IV meds... Any chance they could do an out-patient procedure?
Enjoy today!

Happy Valentine's Day to All!!
Happy Anniversary Teresa!!
Today is also our Anniversary, 11 Years.
Not sure when DH suggested Valentine as wedding day if he was romantic or just figured he would remember it better when he got old. LOL We are going to go to the Outback restaurant for lunch, in Corpus Christi. Our friends the Jasek's will be going with us. We try to avoid dinner hours on Valentine's, too many people. DH doesn't like crowds. When people ask what we are going to do on our Anniversary, DH always tells them he takes me to the local grocery store and we watch them unload the trucks. LOL
I hope to get some sewing in today, too.
Lyn

Re: Friday February 14th - HAPPY VALENTINE's DAY!!!!
Good morning!
We don't celebrate Valentine's Day either...every day is Valentine's Day for us. DD#2 almost had a fit when I told her that. You're not going out to dinner? she said. My DH can't stand crowds.
Yesterday we watched Drew. What a difference a week makes. He's walking alot now and getting into more trouble. This little boy can throw a ball quite well. DH says he has a throwing arm.
Can you believe we are expecting 87 degrees today? DH brought the fan out from storage. No winter for us this year. Jules is experiencing rain and flooding and forum friends are freezing, what's up with that?
DH got a call from his VA doctor yesterday... he wants him to start diabetic meds, his A1C came back at 7. The doc also said if DH lost
20 lbs. he could avoid this whole scenario. Ugh, it's so hard to build a menu for DH since he doesn't eat or like fish or chicken. He's not too keen about becoming a vegetarian. My mom used to call him Wimpy...he likes hamburgers, all the bad stuff!
Sherry, I think a closure service is something I'd like to experience.
What a great idea.
Happy Anniversary to Teresa and Maryz!
Soozg, we used to hang out at the Seal Beach pier when we lived in Cerritos.
Okay my friends, I have to go figure out what DH will have for breakfast...he'd rather have bacon and eggs, hash browns etc.
He'll get cereal.
Love, Lucie
