Good morning all... you poor little snow bunnies! The weather this winter is crazy!!! It's going to be unseasonably hot in SoCal today. I do love seeing the sun everyday... would go weeks in NY during the winter... no more seasonal affective disorder for me!

Spent a few hours working on my Mystery Quilt blocks... there are SOOOO many pieces this month! I am proud of myself for figuring out how to trim my triangles without the special ruler. I don't need to spend $25 on a ruler right now. Hoping to get the blocks together tonight if work isn't too busy. I worked over last night and have a mandatory meeting in two hours, so will work over today too. It messes with my sleep but it pays well, so I cannot complain too much. Hugs to all!!!

Good Morning,,,,well we are kind of at a stand still here all the stuff is on the floor in the dining room and now migrating into the living room...Ken thinks I am going for a year,,,,We usually go for 2 weeks he doubled it this year SOOOOOO that means twice as much stuff. with the weather so unpredictable we will take warm and cool weather clothes. and of course there is all the sewing projects and books to read and all the garden catalogs I am saving up...did even open the last 2 issues of my Martha Stewart Living magazine. taking them all with me. Weather is mild today high 26 low 10 and no snow so far. sun is shining off the huge icicles hanging off the roof right over my sewing room windows. we are headed to the gym....and then a few errands to run...Ken built a shelf to go in the back seat of the truck I keep all the snacks and reading and sewing on it so I don't have to fish around on the floor....and the kitty apartment is underneath,,,her kennel and stuff. we need to put a piece of carpet on it to keep the stuff from sliding...so we are headed to home depot for that. Tonight we visit with the kids....I sure will miss them...Facetime isn't the same as real hugs and kisses.

well I need coffee and maybe an egg...and toast....Hope you feel better Vicky...I am sure the antibiotics are making you feel bad...

Those of you in the storms please warm up soon. Melt that stuff off...XXXOOO

Good morning, good morning,
Dorothy - I had to giggle at your disappointment in having too handy of a neighbor so that he fixed what you were hoping to replace! It reminded me of a guy who used to clean our carpets. He loved cleaning carpets and would spend all day cleaning a room or two (and for less money than one of the big companies) and he was meticulous and eccentric. He had his own cleaning outfit and went thru a whole ritual of getting ready to clean. He brought his own lunch and then would go thru the whole ritual again when he started back up after lunch. He said that his house had carpet from the 60's, and his wife really wanted new carpeting, but he took such good care of it that it wasn't even near being worn out. He was the nicest guy and did a fantastic job, but I'm sure his wife really would have enjoyed some updated carpet! (Now I'm not one to talk as we have lovely gold/avocado carpet from the 60's in our old farm house! - But those colors are coming back in!)

Was it Cindyg who said it is a DDSS day? (different day, same stuff) That is what it looks like it will be here. Elizabeth is planning on stealing the baby today so I'm glad this latest storm is skirting around us. Take care everyone,
Karlene

So far we have about 15" of snow. My hubby and son are out cleaning off the sidewalk and a path in the driveway. I hope they have the energy to do our neighbor's walk. Or we can do that later. She appreciates it whenever we do it. As far as my studio being separate from the house, we don't get snows like this every year. So a little bit of inconvenience is OK. Have a great day.

My snow picture, + 10cm this morn, most manitobains sick of snow/shovelling and long stretch of cold this year. Wknd promised it get better. So dangerous for driving, black ice, under that snow can't see it coming.

So glad, I have option to stay home, and when the "had enough" kicks in a young man shovels for me end of season, nice to have him around. I seem to be asking his hired help more and more yearly.. Better than depending on homecare.. Poor kid he works so hard for his money.. Then, I have him come in for a pizza and pop. 1st time I offered he was beside himself, not used to this kindness in this area. Lots of divorce situations.

Suzette - the sun is shining here. There was some frost on the car this morning but it's to get up to mid-60's. It will get up to the mid-70's this weekend.

Scrap - if I had that much snow I'd have to hibernate. Are the roads icy?

Vicky - Oh, I hope those meds aren't killing you! Good thing to call the doctor. I was hoping you'd be feeling better by now.

Maryz - our weather for the next week should make up for the little unpleasantness you've experienced. Have fun at the kid's house.

ME - sorry you can't sew because you have to go to the store. I detest going to the store but I have to go after work today - UGH.

Becca - thanks for explaining the different snows. I'd prefer dry snow I think. I think I heard that your NC is having freeway/road problems due to the storm.

Kathy - on my goodness it would never do for me to make bread. I could eat the entire loaf with lots of butter all by myself. I imagine that as the snow and ice melts there is lots and lots of mud and muck.

Dolores - sorry we're missing your post.

Debi - whoosh - I felt you as you ran thru here.

Chriss - I know my food touches when it gets to my stomach but I don't have to look at it like that...or taste different things in my mouth. I like individual tastes. I just don't want gravy running into my sweet taters or green beans, etc. Have a good Thursday - it will go by fast if you will be busy.

Sooooooz - 1-1/2"squares - dang that's little. Your HST's sure look good. It that white fabric Michael Miller's Dots?

Judi - sounds like you are almost ready to go. Do you have a wagon to move your stuff from your house to your RV? I like Martha Stewart's magazine but I don't get one very often - my magazine budget isn't very large and I already subscribe to 5 quilting magazines so I try to ignore the magazine racks.

I'm at work blah blah blah. Last night I washed 3 yds. of 118" backing fabric and 8 fat quarters for my next quilt. Today I should be getting 7 yds. of background fabric for that same next quilt. This is to make the quilt that Sue and I saw hanging at the Houston quilt show. We got the pattern there and our background fabric, too. I'm almost ready to get started on it. It has applique on it so that will be more TV work - YEA!

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Karlene - LOL at your carpet cleaning guy. Eeeeeeeeee gads - carpet from the 60's. Just think of the dust mites under that carpet and they will be there I don't care how good of a housekeeper you are. I wonder why his wife puts up with that. I guess for the same reason I put up with mine not painting the kitchen and great room - LOL. What's a girl to do????

Suz - as you know I love your detached studio.

Scrap - that was so nice of you to feed that boy pizza and pop.

Karlene everything comes back around in time.

Kathy fresh warm bread sounds delicious.

Judi men just don't understand we need stuff when we travel.

Cindy I love doing hand work. I may start yet another project soon. I bought "Flower Box Medley" pattern by Colette Belt.
It's a beautiful quilt. I saw it made up in a LQS.

Sounds like most of you are dealing with snow and ice. SoCal has been beautiful. We have had so little rain, our water prices are going to soar this year.

I've been working on a few projects. Nothing exciting. Busy with work and guild and life. I miss chatting with you all. Have a fabulous day.

Hello, Sun is shining and snow is melting. Supposed to get to 44* today. I sure hope they are right. Just seeing sunshine puts me in a much better mood.

About yesterday's abrupt, feeling sick, sign off. I ended up in the ER. My bp was 199/109 and pulse was 91 when I woke up with heart racing. Took my meds and went down some but suddenly felt very very sick, weak and pains in upper left chest to right side of breast. Then I started having trouble breathing too. Rod took me to the ER. They rushed me back thinking heart attack since I had one in 2004 and a stroke in 2011.

Only there 2 hrs. Super nice hosp, not far away and very fast and effectient. Immediately took EKG, started iv, did blood work, and chest x-ray. After examing me, the doctor poked around on my chest and I almost screamed in pain. Guess I must have lifted some boxes wrong and pulled a muscle or bruised something in there.

All the tests came back ok. They debated what to do and finally we together, decided I should just go home and come back to ER if I felt worse. Just knowing it wasn't a heart attack helped. Since I haven't seen a dr here yet, they set me up an apptmt with a heart dr in the same bldg. in a few wks. Also gave me the names of several PCPs that are excellent in the area and deal with a lot of my problems.

Called both yesterday and PCP will get me in thur afternoon. Haven't seen any dr since Oct and all he did was renew my prescriptions and order a blood test. Glad AZ is behind us. maybe here we can find some really good drs that are interested in your health, not their money.

I am a little tired today but feel much better. Dr thinks I may have had a panic attack when I started feeling pains in my chest so bad. But they did warn me that since I have had previous heart attack and stroke, better to err on nothing than wrong than to ignore in my situation. At least this time, Rod was sitting there and I told the nurse to explain it him. He thinks if I don't fall on the floor unconscious, I am fine. LOL MEN!!!! But God bless him, I think he was very scared yesterday for awhile. Of course later he said he knew all along it was nothing. Yah, Right!!!!!!

Sorry enough venting. HOpe you all are having a great day. If you are snowed in, just enjoy being home and sew something or just relax for the day.

Vicky, please call your dr. I get a strange reaction to so many meds. Some drs think there are NO side effects for anyone. Your size may have a lot to do with it. I am very small and any kind of high dosage anything, I get a reaction to, especially after it builds up for a few days. Why do they give a small person like us the same dosage as someone like my DH who is almost 6' tall and weighs 220.

So many to reply to today. Prayers for those sick, taking treatments, waiting for test results, or sitting at the bedside of a loved one. Prayers too for all in the path of the storm. Stay in, stay warm, and pray that your power does not go off in this cold.

May God bless you all today in some special way. Thanks for all your prayers too for Rod and I. He is at the VA for 2 apptments today but decided I didn't need to be there. Need to get something done before he gets back home. Did make the beds and do the dishes. I am progressing. LOL

Love and hugs across the cold miles, Shirley Mae

FYI Delores and anyone else, I have received that same msg before, can't post twice. Don't get out of it. Just go back in to your post and change a few words or add a few at beginning of your post. Changes it enough it just might go. Worth a try. Works for me.

If you try to post same thing in two places, may get the same msg too. Just do the above, change it a little. Nice feeling to fool the computer. LOL May have to change the subject line a little too.

Good Luck. Shirley Mae
