Good morning... what a great day it's going to be... after tomorrow I can start my weekend...

my aunt and I talked yesterday and firmed up our thrift store shop hop plans... she kind of drives me a little crazy.. she talks non stop and tells the same stories over and over.. and she's even more OCD than I am.. sometimes I think that if you took the people in my family (including me) and studied their brains you'd find all kinds of oddities...

Tina, the apple cake was great... not too sweet... very moist...funny how girls like to play with hair..

Suzette, stay warm.. hope the treatment goes well..

Jules... I woke up thinking about you and wondering how things were going. sounds like the funeral will be soon... I am glad..hope the weather cooperates and everyone stays safe...for the dog collar can't you just cut the collar out of a kids shirt and attach a tie...

Lois.. glad you are all snuggled in..and ready to sew.. those diaper bags are great..

Dolores.. what a blessing that the eye appt went so well...

Vicky, glad you're on the mend...enjoy your rest.

Kathy, I always show off my new tires at the quilt shop...lol...you really aren't going there just to buy fabric are you? oh, and did you see connecting threads has a new line of fabric?

Sherry, if you look at my almond tree you'd think spring had sprung.. it's full of blossoms.. everything else is budding.. I really miss having regular seasons... breakfast is my favorite meal.. I always get biscuits and gravy with fried eggs and potatoes and mix it all up on the plate.. sorry about your beagle..I bet it is hard when you can't explain so they understand...hope you laugh so much your tummy hurts this morning...

Judi, sounds like you're almost ready to travel... I would love to see Kens frozen hair.

Scrap48, have a warm day, enjoy your quilting.

just heard on the news that a woman.. I think in Ohio.. didn't like her name Shiela so she had it legally changed to Sexy.. ugh...

I am still collecting addresses....

hope you all have a splendid day...

Good Morning All,

Suzette........ glad you can make your treatment before the nasty storm hits. Prayers that the treatments will soon be over with and you will be on your way to healing. God bless.

Jules......So sorry to hear about all the flooding in your area. Thank the good Lord that you are still high and dry. That collar for Oliver's dog and letting him attend the memorial service is so special.

Oliver is smiling down on you from heaven, grateful that you are watching over his special friend, his dog, as well as his family. Perhaps this will allow the dog some type of closure as well. Our pets grieve just like we do. And they do understand when you talk to them. Prayers for you and all the family at this sad time. God bless and bring you all some comfort and peace today.

Vicky......prayers that you feel much better soon. Bless your heart, you sure have been thru a lot lately. Prayers for quick healing so you can get back to hugging those DGKs.

Quiltmom......have a nice breakfast with your friend. Aren't friends special?

Gotta go, feel really sick. Been having trouble with bp last too days. BBL I hope. Love and hugs and prayers, Shirley Mae

Hi, all!

Jules, sorry to hear about the floods. They sound horrible!

I'm glad everyone has their heads up and are safe with the bad weather in the US. We are going to have severe thunderstorms tonight, all having to do with the same storm that has dropped ice all over GA, SC, NC, etc. Praying you are staying safe!!

Family is starting to head back north today - thankfully, none are affected by the ice storm, they will be flying over it before stopping in Baltimore.

We cleaned out Mom's closet yesterday, and I have t-shirts to make into a quilt. Does anyone has a specific fusible to use on the back of the t-shirt?? I've never done a t-shirt quilt before, so this will be a first.....we will have a lot of those ahead.

I thought that Mom's birthday on Valentine's Day would be the "first" of the firsts, but arrived home on Monday to a package from a block swap I was in, and I could hear Mom ooooohhhhing and aaaaahhhhing as she checked out the blocks.

For Gershwin/Tina: Dad is keeping your quilt, it's brought so much comfort to so many in the family!!!

All for now, hugs to all.

Good Wednesday morning,
It was -6 when I got up this morning, ugh. I did see something really funny yesterday. I was talking on the phone with my mom while looking out the front window. All of a sudden I see a ground squirrel leap off of the sidewalk and dive into a snow drift! That little Fred is quite a spitfire! I thought they hibernated?!

I can tell the winter is getting long as we start getting many calls at the church requesting financial assistance. Like Vicky, it looks like this latest storm will skirt around us. I'd love to get Harley Beth for an afternoon, but I hate to be out on the road with her in such cold temps in case something were to happen.

Jules - I saw that news that the Thames river had gone over it's banks. How terrible to have all that flooding.

Stay warm and safe,
Karlene

Sorry so many of you are in such bad weather. We are mostly cold, had some rain yesterday. Sure glad we took the Motorhome to the gas station last week and filled up with diesel. Have been running the Hydro Hot furnace non stop. We need the diesel burner on when the temp gets before 45*, the electric just can't keep up.

CINDYB - A while back I saw a lady on Sewing with Nancy, doing a T-Shirt quilt. She used the fusible web grid, that way she could line up the edges and knew she wasn't pulling it out of shape.

It's sewing day at the club house. Not sure what I will take up to work on. I need to go to the grocery store before. Then get a salad and stuffed bell peppers ready for a dinner that I need to take to friends. She had surgery last week and we, ladies, are taking turns providing dinner. I think she and her DH really appreciate it.

Prayers for all.
Lyn

Good Morning, Good Morning,

My GKs in S.C. are beside themselves with excitement. I started getting texts from the yesterday afternoon that it was snowing. They are just loving it. DD's law firm closed, so all 5 of them will be staying home and off those icy streets.

Chriss - My dream for the jerk kinda goes right along with yours. I dream that Herman has a twin brother named Baba and that Baba also hates the jerk looking at him, and all three of them share the same cell. AND that all the guards are on a coffee break!!

The jerk has not been heard from for 3 days now so maybe Herman broke out of our dream for him. LOL

MaryZ - Hope the 3 of you are getting all settled in and enjoying being that close to you DD. Will there be trips to library for you?
Maybe some more creative sewing.

Sherry - I think of you all the time and pray for your acceptance and that you have a lot of love surrounding you. Enjoy your breakfast with your friend. I so admire your strength.

Today will be a sewing day for me. Plans got cancelled because a friend is sick. So I will be quilting my Stitcher's Garden all day.

It is a bright sunny day here in AZ. I think it is suppose to get up in the high 70's. Suppose to be in the 80's this weekend. Does that mean a very, very hot summer ahead of us. Oh well, I love waking up to the sun shining everyday. When I lived in Saudi Arabia, it use to get up to 130 degrees. So heat doesn't bother me like it does a lot of my friends. In fact, I am losing a very close friend this summer. She is moving back to CA because she can not stand the heat here in the summer. Will really miss her.

Well off to sew. Love to all.

Suz - your weather is all over our news - yours and Atlanta's. Probably a good idea to stay in.

Jules - oh, gosh, as if your nephews death isn't enough to deal with you have the floods, too. I do wish you luck making the dog's collar and tie. Made me cry. What kind of dog is he?

Lois - are you expecting the ice/snow storm, too?

Dolores - I'm glad your Wills appointment went so well and that you got some answers. Do they think your DH is getting a detached retina or is this precautionary? Houston is the same way with the streets. I get lost downtown and need Sue with me to tell me how to get out of downtown. I can make it into town to the convention center just fine.

Vicky - do you have C-Diff? I don't know what that is so I'll have to go look it up. I hope you are back to normal soon.

Kathy - you have a lot of running around to do today.

Sherry - I didn't watch the dog show. I watched the Olympics. Getting tired of hearing about their heat making the snow turn to slush. Why they chose Sochi is beyond me. It's made it dangerous to be on the slopes. Anyway, have a nice time at breakfast with your friend.

Judi - you dirty old lady!!! LOL LOL LOL You are funny. I hope your temps warm up to at least -0- by the time you have to pack. Brrrrr

Scrap - I didn't realize you had a Flynn frame. How large of a quilt can you do using that frame?

Chriss- I like fried eggs, toast, grits, pancakes and coffee for breakfast...but not if I have to cook it. I'm talking Denny's. And I don't like the different foods on my plate to touch so I sure don't mix them up on purpose - LOL.

Shirley Mae - I agree with you about the pets understanding and they do grieve. Take care of that BP. Mine was 130 over 70 yesterday.

CindyB - I can't help you with the T-shirt quilt as I've never made one. I know you have to stabilize. My BFF's birthday is Valentine's Day, too.

Karlene - I know squirrels store food for winter but I'm not sure if they hibernate of not. If I were a Yankee squirrel I'd surely hibernate because it's soooo cold up there.

I need to get busy here. It's just the same old same old with me except that my DH has prostate cancer. For some reason we aren't terribly worried about it. That might change after our doctor appointment on Monday.

I hope we can all fondle some fabric today.

Good Morning Girls

Yippee!!! We're actually above ZERO this morning!! Was nasty cold yesterday so I stayed in all day and puttsed around the house. Got all the laundry done, and sewed a few more blocks for Jen's quilt--tho I'm sure I won't get it done in time to take to AK with me in May.

My heart goes out to all of you in the path of the storms down south. Sounds like it's going to be a real mess. I'd rather have this cold that a snow storm. We got a dusting last night, but the roads look clear so I won't have any trouble getting to work today.

Suzette... I watched the news last night about the storm, looked like every one was getting ready--store shelves were empty of bread and milk and water. Hope it waits til you're safely home from radiation today. Will you have to go to work tomorrow if it's nasty?

Karlene... your squirrel story reminds me of the squirrel my Mom had in yard that would come up and eat right out of her hand. My Dad would get so mad because the squirrels would eat all of the bird feed he'd put out.

Cindyb... Have been thinking about you a lot lately. So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. Reminded me of losing my own Mom, and the wonderful memories of being with her on the weekends when I'd stay with her. She loved to watch me sew and was in awe of things I made. I hope that all those wonderful memories of "oooohhs and aahhhss" will be with you forever. My heart goes out to your Dad too, as he surely is hurting and missing your Mom.

Chriss... OH PLEASE don't tell me CT has new fabric!!! Ok, I had to go peek.... I want it ALL--No more fabric for me... buying all the reds from CT is my last for while. Don't let anybody study your brain just yet...if it's working ok, better to leave it alone. Have fun with your Auntie thrift shopping!!

Judi... I think I just might have to sign up at your gymn.. I'm a sucker for a guy in uniform. Hubba hubba!! Hope all goes well for your plans to leave on Saturday and that the roads are all clear on your route.

Sherry... Have been thinking about you too and wondering how you were doing. A day out for laughs and giggles is a great idea!

Kathy... Snow tires and a quilt shop! Sounds like a fun day! Okay may be just the quilt shop part.

Vicky.... so glad you finally went to the DR! and got a definite diagnosis. A friend of mine got C-Dif and I know it's not fun! I'm a firm believer in naps, took one myself yesterday.

Dolores... glad to hear you and DH got good news at the eye Dr. yesterday!

Cindyg... Don will definitely be in prayers... A Monday appointment doesn't sound like ASAP to me, but probably by then they will have all the tests results but together and a treatment plan. Was this just a routine check up that found trouble?

Carole... I read Chriss's dream for the Jerk the other day.. what a hoot! Maybe we can add to that that Baba likes men! Oh how I would love to be in AZ these days! Why did Jen have to move to Alaska! Wish she was still teaching in AZ so I could visit there!

Shirleymae... Gosh I hope you feel better today! did you catch a bug? Prayers for Rod always

Lois... good idea to make the Joann stop too before bad weather comes in. Almost as important as food!

Jules... I think that's the way it's supposed to be... one person helping another and back and forth when support is needed. Glad to hear you are up high and that the floods have missed you. Mother Nature has sure mixed things up this year!

Guess it's time for me to get moving. Working late shift today-and the rest of the week, but have to leave early a bit so I can stop at PO and get my Bird Houses and Lotto blocks in the mail. Was going to run into town yesterday, but it was so warm and comfy at home that I only went as far as the mail box. My neighbor came down to look at what he could do to fix my fallen ceiling.... hence no more fabric for me.

Wishing you all a most wonderful day

Good morning! It is sunny, and today we will be above freezing—going for 39 degrees. I know that sounds like bragging for you in the path of the new storm, but, take heart—warmer temps are on their way!

Suzette—I think staying home and taking no chances is prudent. Enjoy your time with Nina.

MaryQ—I hear your happiness! We used to have squirrels that robbed the “squirrel-proof” feeders. They were pretty acrobatic, but they could really chow down once they figured out how to hang on by their little nails.

Jules—I saw all the flooding on the news and thought of you and your family. That is so sad. Prayers for your safety! That would be so neat to have Oliver’s dog wearing a collar you made and leading the procession. He will miss his master terribly.

Lois—enjoy today! Lots of new babies… none here. I don’t know if I’m ready to be a great-grandma. We still have a son who hasn’t gotten started yet.

Dolores—I’m always amazed at how those huge clinics can be so personal and thorough and see thousands of patients daily. So glad to hear your DH got a good report! Enjoy your new guild—when do you meet?

Vicky—good to hear you will be missing the storm! I know you will miss Tia, but it’s probably a good idea for her to stay away this time. Rest and restore!

Kathy—hope you don’t get slammed with the storm! Enjoy your day out.

Sherry—so glad to hear you have a friend nearby!!! You need the human contact. Oh, the animals know and probably feel more than we do. Give your baby a hug and a scratch!

Judi—hope your weather holds! We all need a little eye candy! Especially on a cold winter day!!! We can window shop and appreciate the merchandise—doesn’t mean we need to go in the shop!!!

Scrap48—I can imagine what your area looks like. I know it can be beautiful but brutal. Do you have a Flynn frame? I had one and didn’t like it. It required way too much room and was hard to control for anything other than very small items… at least it was for me. I know a lot of people use them successfully—if you have one and use it, your work is beautiful!!!

Chriss—too funny about your aunt! I’m getting there with her! I like apple cake. Wish I could see your almond tree—don’t they have fragrant light pink blossoms?

Shirley Mae—glad you stopped in… hope you feel better soon!

CindyB—Irish has made t-shirt quilts. I think you use a very light weight fusible. What special memories you have of your mom. I’m sure she will always be watching over your shoulder as you fondle fabrics and blocks.

Karlene—I’d have to go back to bed if the temp here was below zero! I think little critters have runs under the snow. The hawks here are always on the lookout for tasty tidbits… like Fred. He had better be careful!

Lyn—Great idea about the fusible grid for the t-shirt quilt. I didn’t see that one. Enjoy your day!

Carole—your weather sounds so perfect! I couldn’t take 130 degrees even though my body temperature is at least two degrees below “normal”. Sometimes it’s even 3-4 degrees below. I wonder if that is why I can never get warm. Enjoy your quilting day!

CindyG—did you get snow the other day? It’s good to know how to get to your special place! B-oooiiiii-ng!

I’m going to watch the dog show later this afternoon. I know the winner, but I still love to see the dogs. This was the first year to have a rat terrier, and I’m looking forward to seeing it.

I have to go to town and bail my truck out… again. After the new fuel injectors last month, it ran terrible. We took it in… new fuel pump. I’m hoping this will be it on repairs for awhile. It’s really cutting into my fabric budget!

Enjoy today!

Good almost afternoon from sunny but still bitter cold, SW. Pa...BUT, we are going above freezing today and tomorrow...
It is unbelievable to hear and watch the weather reports coming from our south/east...I can't imagine how hard it would be to take care of the highways when you're just not used to the nasty cold stuff....Up here, it's a way of life.....We always laugh when our grands in N.C. have a day or more off school because of a snow flake...Up here, it's 10 degrees, 2 feet of snow and they might think of delaying for an hour or 2...

Jules, what a sweet gesture, I'm sure Oliver is smiling down at you...And glad to hear you're not too close to the flooding...Weird temps and conditions all over the world....

Chickie, did you watch the final night of the dog show? I was watching it in bed and as soon as they announced what I thought was the winner, I turned it off and was upset...Only this morning, did I see which dog was the real winner and I was happy...How did you like the purple on that judge? Now I'm ready for a cat show....

Sherry, you really do have the best attitude...Nothing better than getting together with a friend or 2 and talking...Also, glad you have your fur-baby to keep you company....

Judi, I think I might be tempted to go to the gym if we had all that eye candy...Sure would take the "hurt" out of the workouts....I remember when we used to go to West Point and the fellows would show some of their training by jumping in the pool with all their gear...Also remember seeing hundreds of these same cadets jogging in shorts...Lots and lots of young eye candy, lol....Not good for an old heart....I think Jim is more excited about me leaving than I am...If I'm not careful, he'll have me in the car and to the airport a day or 2 early...Not sure where you'll be but when I fly over on Sun. I'll wave.....

Vicky, I agree with everyone, rest, rest, rest! Don't give that nasty bug a chance to stay any longer than needed...And what better time to nap, while it's cold and nasty outside...

Kathy, you do have a busy day...Snow tires and quilt shops, go hand in hand...

CindyB, I think it's hard to think of too much right now but the idea of the T-shirt quilt is a good one...If you're not sure about what to get, check with JoAnn's..But, you do need a stabilizer on the back of each shirt, just to keep it from stretching..These quilts are really one of the easiest to make...BUT, be prepared to be sad, each shirt will bring back a memory...Peaceful prayers for you and your family....

Chriss, you and your aunt would fit right in our family...Don't like to say it too loud but I know for sure, there are some oddities in the kinship....But, thrift shopping has to be a favorite of mine and then if my sister gets wind of me shopping, she's right there..We have a couple new ones in the area and you know what they say, Happy, Happy, Happy!....I honestly think my sister wants me to get that house in Florida because she's heard about all the shops near by....

Best I'd better get something done...I have a few cards that need sent to ailing Lioness members..I just heard last night, one of our members had surgery to have a 3# tumor removed yesterday...She had no problems until she felt pain and went to the doctor..Thankfully, it's not cancerous and she's well on her way to recovery......

You all have a great day....
Stay warm, stay safe............

Sorry for tip toeing on your head, Chickie......
