Suz - sounds like a plan to use that focus fabric like a panel. You can do all sorts of things around it. Sorry you have to go to work today. I'm sorry I had to come to work today, too. LOL

Sooz - you are so sweet saying you take your DH to the store to make if more fun. I take mine to the store so he can load and unload groceries. And he usually decides to make something like banana pudding or something.

Lois - oh, I'd love to visit Lancaster. What training?

Scrap - you cracked me up with that underwear!

Maryz - welcome to Texas!!! I'm glad you got to hug your baby girl. Don't worry about the crappy weather. It will change in a minute.

Sherry - Oh, gosh, I'm just now reading that your DH passed away. I am so sorry. I didn't realize how near the end of life he was. You must be feeling sadness and relief at the same time. Bless your heart.

Izzy - my heart started pounding when you said your fire alarm went off. I'm so glad it wasn't really a fire. Did you have to unstick yourself from the ceiling? LOL

Chriss - great idea about the address spread sheet. We use to have a list - I think CindyB kept up with it but I could be mistaken about that. You might check with her. I have one but it's quite outdated. Most of those peeps don't post here anymore.

Judi - sounds as if you are getting ready to hit the road. Happy trails......

Vicky - good!

I'm at work. Gosh, I've missed so much by not being here over the weekend. Deaths and illnesses and I know there are things unspoken. I have a heavy heart this morning for my quilty friends. We should hear something on my DH's biopsy today or tomorrow. My heavy heart today is making me think it's going to be bad news. Enough of that. Has any of you watched the Olympics and noticed that the vests look like quilts and so does the wall around the ice in the ice skating rink? I noticed that right off - woo hoo! I relaxed all weekend - did my handwork and watched the Olympics or watched a movie. DH caught up on sleep/rest. I'd better get busy and do what they are paying me for.

I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning, Suzette and those who follow! We had another inch or so of snow last night. It is pretty and freshens the tired, dirty stuff we had. Thursday we are to get above freezing and maybe we’ll get rid of the snow. Of course, that means… MUD! I’m not sure I care about that, either. At least it will be warmer!

Suzette—My mom often takes a cute fabric and uses it as a center (yard square or whatever she has) and adds borders for a baby quilt. They are really pretty and show off the darling fabric.

Vicky—I’m really glad you are going to get checked out. Whatever you have should not be hanging on this long.

Sooz—Your Dresdens are so pretty! I’m glad to hear SOCAL is receiving some moisture! Spaghetti always sounds good! How about some sourdough bread to go with it…

I need CindyB and Sherry’s addresses if someone has them, please PM me…

Lois—I know you are looking forward to you new job, and the Lancaster Show! Who cares about spring with a quilt show in the future!

Scrap48—Enjoy your day!

MaryZ—I guess you aren’t thinking of going home right now. I haven’t seen my DD in a month and I’m missing her. Scottie is so funny!

Sherry—Years ago there was a book on “The American Way of Dying” and it kind of exposed the whole funeral services stuff—not to mention how they take advantage with the “You only want the BE$$$T for your loved one”. I’m with your DH on cremation and private. I definitely don’t want to be “laid out”. I am so sorry for your loss. It isn’t easy, and I have been there with you 14 years ago. What wonderful news that your son will soon be close to you. Best thoughts to your son in Japan!

Izzy—there is nothing like the sound of smoke alarms going off when you are sleeping!!! My late DH loaded the fireplace insert too full; when the varnish on the mantel blistered and smoke alarms went off, it was 110 in the living room. Five years ago, it was the “real” thing… the chimney to the wood furnace on the other side of our bedroom failed causing a fire. We were fortunate to have escaped and lost everything including the foundations. We had only our pajamas we were wearing. We owe our lives to those smoke alarms! I’m so glad you didn’t have to experience that!!! Enjoy your “Snow Day” and try to get your blood pressure back to normal.

Chriss—I’m thinking of what I will do… I worry about losing power because we are total electric with no back up… I think it is a good idea to have someone be the address keeper… YOU! Perhaps you should put out a call for names/addresses you need to complete your spreadsheet.

Judi—sunny! I forgot what that’s like. My to do list gives me a headache. Good luck with thawing the camper.

CindyG—I hope your DH has good news today. Sounds like a good time was had by all over the weekend. I haven’t watched any of the Olympics. I may have to turn it on to check out the quilt patterns…

Now that I’ve checked in here, time to get myself ready to face the day. Coffee is kicking in…

Enjoy today!

Good morning,

Sherry, you are in my thoughts. I am so, so sorry for your loss. This must be such a difficult time for you. Wish there was something I could do to ease the pain. Hugs

MaryZ, Ao glad thae you made it to your girl. I know how you feel because I live so far from my kids and grandkids. Enjoy your time in Texas.

Tina, You really should go to the doctors. My DD2 has severe asthma, had it since she was 2. I made sure she lived a normal life. BUT you have to have the right meds to do this.

Chriss - I think you have my address but if not let me know, I also keep a ongoing kist of my quilty friends here,

Well today is embroidery machine day at the sewing room in the center. I am making two small purses for my two S.C. granddaughters. FYI jerk has gotten his last warning about stalking and harrassments. Next time he will be arrested. He just can not leave them alone. Sicko

Working on quilting my Stitcher's Garden. Will work on that when I get home this afternoon. Better get moving. Love to all.

Good morning :-)
I feel a whole lot better this morning! Still have my cough but way less, I think all the extra sleep I got yesterday must have really helped! I figured after sleeping so much yesterday that I'd be up half the night but nope, I slept 8 full hours and didn't even get up for the bathroom! Shocked me! LOL
Chriss, I have found when I lose power and my machine goes off that I'm waking up while it's still winding down, I guess my ears are really in tune with it :-)
As far as addresses I keep mine all saved in my address book on the USPost office site now :-) I still have a few on paper that I need to input there.
I hope you all you all have a wonderful day! Prayers for those in need.
Tina

Good Monday morning quilting buddies,
We had a busy weekend. One of our pastors has retired after serving over 30 years, so we had a retirement/starting a new chapter party for him on Saturday. I had to leave from there early because Elizabeth has been trying to sched. her car for service since Dec., but they have been sched. over 2 weeks out and she does not know what her work sched. will be that far in advance, so she had requested the weekend off for her birthday and was able to get her car in for late Sat. afternoon. It is one of the few times I have to do 'mom' duties anymore, but I followed her up and we went poking in stores for 3 hours till her car was done. Then yesterday was her birthday so we took her out to eat.

At church yesterday we had a baptism, but normally the baptistry is drained to the outside. We could not do that yesterday as we are below freezing and would have created out a little ice rink on the village street, so the pastor was trying to find another way to drain the baptistry, or else it would need to be postponed till warmer temps are here. He found that with a hose, they could drain into the sump pump pit - but the hose was 5' too short. He did not think it was a problem as they could just re-route the hose a shorter direction so the baptism was on sched. Well, at the end of the service, the group of men went downstairs to start the draining, and with the rerouted hose, it was still a few feet too short! So they rigged up the hose so that the water could come out of the hose and arc into a fall that would land it in the sump pump pit! One of the connections came loose and doused one guy thoroughly before he got it put back together. He had to stand and hold that connection together thru the remainder of the draining! Oh my. The stories that go on behind the scenes!

Prayers for all who are grieving.

Good "it snowed" Morning.....

The sun is out & it crisp & cold. A perfect winter day. I'm up late too. I didn't want to go to bed until I finished the sleeves of the doll sweater. Then at 2:30 my DD! accidentally called me....lol....I had to run all over looking for the phones. The one night I didn't put them where they belong.
Did any one else watch the Beatles special? I really enjoyed it.
I need to go to the PO & WMart & Micheal's to get a snappy thing for a pocketbook I want to make.

Suzette.....what good news the quilt is ready to mail. It is pretty. I have some "dick/Jane" fabric I want to use as a panel. I have a pattern if you want to borrow it? Great idea to do the baby quilt 1st.

Sooz.....like everyone else I've saved up addresses form swaps, etc. Sounds like you have plenty of work to keep you busy.

Lois.....I was hoping to find a bus trip to the Lancaster show. I've never been. I think the guild is going to have a trip to the Vermont Quilt Festival..even if it's overnight I'm going & calling it a vacation!

Scrap48.....I might have missed it did you tell us your 1st name? I think this might be a good time to collect addresses of those we do not have. What do you think?? Leah....I see that's your name.

Maryz.....I called my Austin DD because you are there with your now she really knows I'm crazy. Give your DD a big hug for me. I do hope you get that bobbin time in.

Sherry.....this wonderful group for prayer & support. I know you all have been there for me & mine. The Lord is watching over you. How wonderful your son is moving nearer to you. Keeping you in my prayers.

Izzy....we got 2" & we have school!! Sorry you got shocked out of bed! Good to hear it was just over loaded & not a fire. Enjoy your "day off".

Chriss....I would be interesting to make the 2 day drive to TX maybe 3 day with me driving. I found a Salvation army store when I went to the Dr the last time. I can't wait to go there. I've never lived near one. I like the spreadsheet idea you can put me on there.

Judi....leaving time is close & I'm sure you will get all you need to done. It always seems to come together.

Vicky.....yea!! You'll feel better soon.

Cindyg....keeping you & DH in my prayers. Yesterday I was looking at some blocks from a swap(2009)most don't post anymore. Yes I did notice the patterns at the Olympics. We're never forgotten.

Chickie....I'm sure the Pussy Willows will be out soon.

Carole....Praying for you DD...I remember what it's like to have a crazy ex-SIL. With children there's always a connection.

Tina....I'm happy to hear you are feeling better.

Karlene....Happy late Birthday to your DD. How nice you got to share it with her.

I must get going....

Love & Prayers to all in need.

Good day to all,

It's sad to read of loved ones gone. I hope there are many good memories to hold onto. Prayers go out to all.

I was going to take friends to the airport in Corpus Christi the morning, but they called and said they were moved to an afternoon flight. It was very foggy, so I'm guessing they cancelled that flight. So, I will take them at 3:30 instead.

Poco dog seems to have an upset tummy, poop not right. I started her on some special canned food I keep on hand, hope that works. I opened a new bag of dog food and it doesn't look quite right, so I will take it to PetsMart after airport run and see if they will exchange it for me.

MARYZ - Hugging our kids is the Best. Glad you made it in OK. Hope we can set up that lunch in a few weeks.

GRAMMIEQUILTS - Guess I've missed info, where you headed in the camper?

The weather's to be bad all week, no boating or lines in the water. I have to get very busy and take advantage of this time, cause when the weather gets better there will be a lots of 'mac n' cheesing'. LOL

Lyn

P.S. Since I left out a word and had to edit this, I want to give you all a really good, easy, recipe.

SAUSAGE CRESCENT ROLLS (MAKES 2 ROLLS)
1 POUND SAUSAGE
8 OZ. CREAM CHEESE
2 PKGS. CRESCENT ROLLS
1 EGG WHITE, SLIGHTLY BEATEN (THIS CAN BE OPTIONAL)

CRUMBLE AND BROWN SAUSAGE, DRAIN. WHILE STILL HOT ADD CHEESE AND MIX. PRESS OR PINCH EACH PACKAGE OF ROLLS TO MAKE A TRIANGLE. SPREAD HALF OF THE SAUSAGE MIXTURE ON EACH OF THE CRESCENT RECTANGLES, FOLD OVER (DON'T ROLL, FOLD). PLACE THE ROLLS ON AN UNGREASED PAN, WITH SEAM SIDE DOWN BRUSH WITH THE BEATEN EGG WHITE. BAKE AT 350 DEGREES FOR 20 MINUTES. (egg makes it look pretty, but for us we don't care)

DH loves this, me too. It makes us 3 breakfasts. Warms up well in microwave. A friend brought it to happy hour a while back. YUM.

Just got off the phone with Dr's office, talked to his wife/receptionist and he's going to call me something in :-) I think with the early dust we had and then someone was burning a field this weekend it's making it more difficult to get rid of this crappola this time.

Morning everyone!

We started out with a balmy -2F (-18C) and sunny! Too bad the sun's heater isn't working as well as we would like for it too work.

Suzette - You sound so very busy. I have been on the computer all morning visiting inspirational sites for sewing, knitting, crocheting. Should be doing housework. :(

Sooz - You are so inspired. I am too but have a bad habit of letting it get away from me.

Lois - The Lancaster show sounds as if it is going to be wonderful. Any quilt show sounds wonderful!

Mary - I am still envious of your travels. Decorating with foxes sound neat. Can you share some pictures with us?

Cindyg Praying the biopsy reports are good! You mentioned the walls of the Olympic areas. I saw something on Pinterest about the walls being quilts.

Image

The look revolves around “the principle of the ‘patchwork quilt’ — a combination of 16 designs representing the most famous traditional Russian arts and crafts, ranging from Gzhel to Khokhloma.” -

FarmChick - Keep your snow! We don't want it! At least you are above freezing! I think I would take mud over this snow. At least it would be warmer and save some of the hating bill!

Sherry - Having your Houston son closer will be a great comfort for you. And the son on a snowy mountain in Japan probably would rather be here too. Prayers are being sent for strength.

Izzy - Fire alarms at anytime of day are scary.. Glad it wasn't too serious.

Chriss - Congrats on the rain!!!!

grammiequilts - be careful while prepping for your trip!

Lyn - Hope your weather improves. Isn't amazing how the weather effects our lives?

Gershwin64 - (Wish I had a real name rather than your online name) Glad that you can get something to make you feel better.

Diana
