Good Snow Covered Freezing Morning!!!!
The good news is I went to get the mail yesterday & my QIAD Log Cabin book was there.
The bad news is I got stuck & couldn't make it up the hill. I tried sand & ice melt. Grrr...no go. The plow truck came by I waved at him. I wanted to remind him to plow the end of the road because for some reason they don't. He didn't stop. AND sure enough he plowed to the top of the hill & not down. I had to shovel the confounded road!!!!! I'll call town hall this morning. I need a new plan my PT Cruiser is not for that hill. I think Snow tires are needed. Got 6" yesterday & expecting 12' tonight & more the day after that. I'm home bound for a while. A quilters dream.
Teresa......so what does Fatty Liver mean & what do you need to avoid eat beside carbs? It's so good to have some one to help work out what you need. That's a good price!!
Suzette.....I wonder what in "treatments" the make you so tired. I know my DD slept for almost 2 day after her's. Hope they put themselves on the top of the list for repair today.
Lois.....I'm sure you'll be in good shape to shovel next year! Happy Quilting...
scrap48.....LOL!!! I was in a LQS in up state New York & the had a cute tea shop in the back of the shop. Tea pot & china...the whole nine yards.
Izzy....In the north-east school doesn't get out until the end of June. Hope your out for your birthday. Once the weather starts to cool here every time I go out side I smell smoke. Wood heat is very popular here.
Velda....I'm tired of the Olympics all ready. The news over covers everything in my opinion. I will watch some of it. I'm having a difficult time getting into my sewing. I seem to look sore one thing and end up messing up the room.
Debi......I wish I could pop over to help you. I pack & unpacked all by my self & it would have been fun to have help & advice.
Judi........it's 8' here too. So sorry the weather is not cooperating with you & you preping. It sure seem like the winter of many little snow storms.
Must get dressed & check the drive way it shouldn't be to bad I shoveled 2x yesterday. I love my new push shovel.
Love & Prayers to all.................Kathy

Good Morning Girls
Just breezin' through on my way to the shower to get ready for work.
Not much news from here.. same old--same old... It's cold!
My lotto winnings arrived yesterday! WHOO HOO!!! Can't wait to lay them all out and photo! It's on my Friday "to do" as I have the day off before working the weekend! Hoping to make some Feb lotto blocks Friday too, now that I have seen some great photo's I think I know what to do!
Wish I could stay and chat with you all. Tomorrow I'll get up earlier so I have time to sit a spell. Need to catch up with y'all!
Wishing you all a wonderful WARM ( or cool as the case might be) day!

Good morning..
should be a nice day here, in the low 60's...sure wish it would rain... my son posted some before and after pictures and this drought is really kicking tush on our water supply... the farmers here use about 80% of the water and there isn't any... so the cost of food should go up quite a bit soon...
also I read that HOover dam is very low and if it goes to a certain point they have to stop generating power from it... so there goes the power in Las Vegas...
even with the very short supply of water you still see people washing their cars or watering their lawns.. amazing
Sherry, hope DH is doing better... you sort of sound like you could use a day to yourself...hope blessings come your way soon.
Kathy2... nice to get to know you... what fun to get such great fabric deals... my DH's family comes from Illinois.. I would love to get back there again, but am not sure when that would be.. ugh...
Karlene.. your quilt sounds interesting.. when it's finished will the name of the shape end in "igon" or will it be square or rectangle...
Cindy, you boss needs to not roam through your office during morning coffee break with the girls time.. what is he thinking?
Sharona, I wish we had wood in all of our house.. our painting put us a little behind and we are catching up... I hate the carpet and linoleum wee have.. it so needs replaced... hope your heat guy showed up.
Kathy, do you need the QIAD Christmas tree pattern? glad DD had her last treatment.. I'd celebrate if I were her.
Chickie.. you've got a lot of eyes and feet to install... but they will be wonderful blocks... I think that in your shoes I would be tired of rentals too.
Scrap48. lots of businesses are closing down here. glad to see you doing so well and taking advantage of the resources around you.. great job.
Sooz... your mystery blocks are great.. made me change my mind and realize mine need to be re-done... I will go check out your red quilt in a sec.
Izzy, I've never had goats milk...
Jana, hope the freezer gets fixed.. just think of the grand smooches you get when you go to Sarah's for hamburger...lol
O'Dorothy, I agree, the half time show was disgusting.. not sure I believe that hog tastes like beef, but like you I am not going to find out... hope all is well with Jim.. yes, my toes are quite toasty.
Judi, I'm a granny panty person too.. your car is going to love it's hexi quilt..wish I had cabbage rolls...mmmmm.
Teresa, glad things are moving ahead for you.
Suzette, couldn't they call for a heat repairman...lol
Lois...next winter you can help shovel the snow...I wish you were rich too...
Izzy, glad you have horse race day off...lol....
Velda, I so wish we could take all that snow and rain here in Californai.. we so could use it.
Debi, hope we see lots of pictures of the house.
Kathy, sorry about the snow plow guy.. he's a dork.
gotta go, you all have a superb day

Good morning! We have snow today. The first thing I did this morning—even before coffee—was to feed the birds. They are very happy. I will be staying inside. We have 4 – 8 inches forecast. I’m glad we stopped and got groceries before we left town yesterday.
Teresa—I’m glad you had a good appointment yesterday. Can the fatty liver be reversed? You and Rob can do therapy together.
Suzette—something is not right about no heat at a HVAC company! Hope you feel much better.
Lois—I think most of us are tired of this winter weather. I know I am! Maybe we could all get together and rent a condo on a tropical island for a few weeks… we can dream…
Scrap48—I know what you mean… Time stands still inside a quilt shop. I’m always surprised how long I can stay there.
Izzy—I think I’ll make some bread today. Of course, that mean’s I’ll eat some bread today… I can’t believe the price of propane! We went total electric with the geothermal (from the pond), and it has certainly paid for itself. We used to be on propane. We had a wood furnace in the garage. After the fire, I said “No more!” We looked at outdoor wood furnaces, and that is what we would have done but decided on the geothermal since we might get too old to cut wood eventually. Can’t tell it now, DH has wood for sale. He’s cleaning up trees that fall in the timber plus working on his quail habitat. One school district in Missouri always closes for opening of trout season, so I can understand closing for Oaks.
Judi—I feel your pain with the snow and cold! I know I’m whining when I read the temperatures that you and MaryQ experience, but I really am not a winter person. I’m from California, and we got by just fine without cold and snow. I’ve been disappointed with JoAnn’s the couple of times I’ve been in one recently. Some of their fabrics are higher than at LQS.
Sherry—you can join all of us on the tropical island! Hope you get the low end of the snow forecast, or better yet—a bypass and no snow! Best wishes to your DH!!! It’s amazing how Medicare is able to know how sick we might be. I don’t watch the Olympics, either. It seems like such a bunch of hype, and the athletes aren’t amateurs any more from any countries.
Kathy2—I’m in the middle of nowhere, too. It’s about that far into town for me as well. I wouldn’t change it, but you do have to plan your trips to town and make them count. Good luck with avoiding the snow. Welcome to our tropical (dream) isle!
Becca—Wow! 62 could almost make you think “Spring!” I sit on the porch and soak up the sun on my face, too. I’m definitely a sun worshipper—hate the effects of it in summer, but I still love the feel of it on me.
Kathy—I have the mid-winter doldrums, too. We smelled our neighbor’s wood smoke. That’s the only thing I miss about heating with wood—definitely not the mess. So sorry about your getting stuck and having to shovel the road! When I lived on a road that got plowed, they were famous for leaving huge piles on the drive way that we had to shovel. I wish my truck had 4-wheel drive.
MaryQ—congrats on the lotto winning! Have a great day!!!
Chriss—maybe I can stay in today and finish my bird house blocks—give more eyes and feet to the chicks. Have I mentioned that I really get tired of the rentals? I’ve been seeing the drought on the TV and I really fell for you all. That is so scary, and the repercussions are felt all over the country when CA is unable to produce crops.
Teresa—The little birds on the porch make me joyful!
Enjoy today!

Teresa - I'm assuming Texas Cattle is a steak place? You had fish at a steak place???? That's almost a sin. You sound as if you are having a good day.
Suz - sorry about your energy level. Had to laugh at the heat going out at the heating and A/C place. It's like the plumber whose faucet always leaks.
Lois - I'm glad you get too stay in today. It's miserable here - rainy and cold but at least it's not freezing!
Scrap - I'm looking forward to the Olympics, too. I love to watch them even though I've never ever done a winter sport in my life.
Izzy - what is Oaks?
Velda - I'm so sorry you are disappointed with TX this winter. Is the Olympics on more than just one channel? I think NBC is carrying it but not ABC or CBS. Maybe some of the ESPN channels?
Debi - can you share some of that creative mood with me? I went to Hobby Lobby after work yesterday for DMC embroidery thread and got a needle threader and some needles but that's it. I didn't even take the time to look at fabric or anything else. I was good. JoAnn's is just too far away.
Judi - white with red on it should be pretty easy to find now that it's almost Valentine's Day. I'd go on line and order fabric before I'd buy JoAnn's. Yes, I am a fabric snob. At least I'm a fabric snob while I'm still working. After I retire I might be buying fabric from JoAnn's again like I did when I first started quilting. Back in those days quilting shops were few and far between. I'd never even heard of one. Good luck with packing your RV.
Sherry - sorry your DH isn't sick enough for Medecare to pay. That just really gets my goat! Who does the govt. think they are to say how sick an individual is. That should be between the patient and doctor IMHO. Let's not go there! I'm sure all you snowbirds are sick to death of it. I'd be sick of it after one day. Curling is the only winter Olympic sport you watch? Hmmmm I love the luge, all the ice skating and all the ski jumping. I'm not real fond of the hockey but that's only because I can never ever keep up with the puk.
Kathy2 - WOW 16 miles to civilization. That's too far out in the country for me but that's because I've always lived in the suburbs and everything is convenient.
Becca - gosh, that bread sounds scrumptious. We were at 70* last Saturday but it wasn't pretty - it was cloudy and humid. I'm ready for more sun myself.
Kathy - it would sure be a quilter's dream day but I wouldn't like to have to deal with all that snow to get one. Glad you got your Log Cabin book. After you tackle that one try a Judy Martin Log Cabin book. Those quilts are gorgeous and not hard. I think y'all must be tired of the Olympics already because the news people keep talking about it with the terrorist threats. I haven't heard the news people say anything about the actual sports part of it.
Maryq - have a great day at work. Today is your Friday.
Chriss - I really feel bad about your drought. We lost so many trees and, or course crops that year. We are still losing trees from that drought which was almost two years ago.
I had to go this morning for lab work before coming to work so I need to scram. Be back later to check on y'all. Quilt guild tonight.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Cindy--we lost trees from the two years of drought here a couple of years ago, too. They are still trying to recover. High winds take them over so easily now. I'm worried about the avocado trees in CA--I heard they are dying. Avocados are a staple for me.

Good morning all of my frosty friends! (and those who are a tad bit warmer, too!)
It got cold here last night. We are supposedly in for some colder weather this week, but I won't complain. We have had a really mild Winter so far.
Didn't get to work on my birdhouse blocks last night. Figured I better get my laundry done as we are leaving on Saturday for a week. going to Austin to visit my niece, who just had a baby yesterday. Will also get to see my oldest son who lives there, too. We spend three days there and then fly to KY to visit my mom and dad. His old-timers/dementia is progressing so I though I best go see him while he still knows who I am. I haven't been home in three years so I guess it is time. I just hate the whole traveling thing. We will be gone until the following Sunday. Sure am glad the next day (the 17th) is a holiday and we don't have work. I'll need the day off to recuperate!
Cindyg, I agree about the steakhouse/fish thing! LOL
Sorry I can't stay and chat....have to get busy here at work. I hope you all stay warm and find something fun to do.
I'll check back later.
Hugs,
Mel

We will be gone until the following Sunday. Sure am glad the next day (the 17th) is a holiday and we don't have work. I'll need the day off to recuperate!
Cindyg, I agree about the steakhouse/fish thing! LOL
Sorry I can't stay and chat....have to get busy here at work. I hope you all stay warm and find something fun to do.
I'll check back later.
Hugs,
Mel

Re: Tuesday, February 4th, 2014
Just finishing up some eggs and toast... going to watch tv for a bit and then off to be. I posted my Feb Lotto blocks... not so happy with them but you can't win every time. I also started to work on a mug rug for a friend. It has an appliqued (machine) Russian doll on it. Next up, my Dresden blocks and then the next Mystery block...can hardly wait!
