Re: Monday, February 3rd
Just a quick stop in. My DH ended up in the ER last night because he got so weak and hadn't eaten for a couple of days. They are keeping him for a couple of days to get him back to strength. May-be now he will learn to take some medicines for his cold.
I watched the Super Bowl in the ER and I was beginning to feel sick myself. I can't believe the Broncos did so bad. Other than the Budweiser commercials the rest of them seemed boring.
Well, getting ready for another storm Tuesday night through Wednesday. They are calling for 6 - 8 more inches of snow. I am so sick of snow. Spring can't get here soon enough.
Well, better go get some breakfast for me and Pepper. My new minister and his wife are taking me to lunch today. He came to the ER last night when my neighbor called and told him about the EMS. Very good minister.
Will check back later. Have a good day all. Prayers for all who need them.

Good morning I thought I should tell you all a little about me. I live in west central Illinois. I am retired and recently divorced.
I have been piecing for over 20 years.
Yes Kathy my name is Kathleen however it is my middle name. But I have never went as my first name.
At this time I feel a little lost so my sewing room is getting a lot of use.
I had a real good time yesterday spending part of the gift card I won last fall. I purchased about 95 dollars worth of fabric for $60. The quilt shop was having a sale. Good time to get more fabric for another table topper. fabriholic
Today I have to talk to medicare do there initial information form.
That tells you all how old I am. LOL
I have 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
Enough about me all of you have a happy sewing day.

Good morning, good morning,
Ahhhh, it's the morning after a sad loss. I remember the first 3 Superbowls that Elway lost - each one was more painful than the last - yesterday's loss kind of had that feeling again. But it is a new day, and it is only a game. The Seahawks defense was amazing. I have not followed them much since they were moved out of being in the same division as Denver.
I got the two major parts of the top of my string quilt put together, but have a design dilemma to work through. I had planned my layout as a hexagon, but when the units were sewn together, five units made a complete larger unit, so I am now working with a pentagon instead of a hexagon. Details, details! All my math teachers must be cringing!
We warmed up over the weekend and were above freezing. Today we are back in freezing temps. but it was so nice to have that short reprieve. And it is so nice to have the days getting longer.
Have a wonderful day everyone,
Karlene

Re: Monday, February 3rd
Suz - condolences for your son's girlfriend and her family.
Teresa - I've bought pantos from UrbanElementz before. Alas, I don't have a computer to run my quilting machine so I have to do it the old fashioned way - move that long arm by hand.
Vicky - You do need another machine. One that doesn't take up much space. I happen to have a Singer 221 Featherweight for sale. It's a 1951, a Centennial edition and she's painted blue. It's been completely taken apart and cleaned and put back together. She sews very well.
Sooz - congrats on your new-to-you sewing machine. I think I read that it's a Viking. My BFF has Vikings - won't buy anything else. Didi you know that Pfaff is made by Viking?
Chriss - I agree with you that Vicky needs an additional sewing machine. I offered to sell her one of the Featherweights - LOL. Don't feel bad about being a slug. Sometimes us working girls just need a day of lounging.
Sherry - sorry to hear about your husband. Guess what - the Broncos weren't really the Broncos. They were the Houston Texans in disguise. LOL They played just like the Texans did all season.
Didn't respond to all - got too much to do and my boss keeps walking thru my office so.....
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Good morning!
Suzette – I’m glad to hear the side-effects have been minimal. Sorry to hear about your brother’s GF’s loss. You’re right – even though we have time to prepare, it’s still hard.
Lois – I’m glad you enjoyed your superbowl party. Happy sewing when you get home.
Teresa – good for you on learning how to download the pantos. Best of luck at the appointment today. How fortunate you are to have your daughter to help with the new way of eating.
Scrap – I agree with you about handling those groundhogs!
Vicky – how sweet of you to take a meal up to your brother’s house. I like that you were dreaming of quilts. How’s your tooth feeling?
Izzy – the snow is pretty when it covers the landscape. We’re getting another blast of arctic weather along with, what else, more snow. I hope your teeth arrive soon.
Sooz – glad you got the bobbin thing cleared up. Isn’t it sad when fabric jumps into your cart at Joann’s? Have a great day.
Judi – I sure hope that camper gets unfrozen for your trip! Are you going to Victoria’s Secret to replace your underthings?! It’s so nice of your DH to help the DBIL with swimming.
Becca – good luck with the shots and errands.
Sherry – prayers for your DH to get stronger AND to not be so stubborn about taking medicine. How sweet of your minister and his wife to take you to lunch.
Kathy2 – good luck with the medicare forms. I’m glad the sewing helps you feel not so lost.
Karlene – you are so right about it only being a game. Payton again showed what a classy guy he is. Good luck with your design.
I quit watching the game right after the safety. I just got done talking to DS2 – he said they played like they were jinxed! Seattle was definitely a much stronger and better team, so congratulations to them. DS1 and our DGS left at halftime. He’s flying back out to Bartlesville at noon today. Other than that, we’re getting ready for the hardwood floors to go in. Not sure if the heat guy will even show up this week – we’re getting another arctic blast and the weather is going to be awful. Have a great day! xoxo Sharona

Re: Monday, February 3rd
Good Cloudy Dark Morning,
Yesterday's rain took away a good amount of snow just in time for tomorrow's snow. Even with all the shoveling I still love winter.
I was looking for the QIAD Christmas Tree pattern & I ended up turning the sewing room toppsie turvie(?). Can't find it. Must finish putting it back together today so I can sew.
Suzette.....I'm so sorry to hear about your DS GF's Mom. I will keep her in my prayers. This has been a difficult time for our group & their families. I'm happy there have been no big side effects. My DD had her last treatment on Thursday...she is so happy.
Lois.....I did record the super bowl so I can see the commercials. It always feel so good to get things done a head of time.
Teresa.....Praying for a good Dr's appt for you. That would be so great for you if you were the 'Teresa'.....what fun!
Scrap48......no rain? just snow? How much do you have? You could be our Snow Queen! ":Mystery Shopper" sounds like a very interesting job. Are you going to try for it?
Vicky........it's good you were able to make a trip up to visit Darryl's family. See, you have a good reason to have 2 sewing machines.
Izzy.....I'll be checking out your blocks after this. Enjoy your day home. At this rate you'll be working into July! OH good, your poor mouth has been through painful time.
Sooz.....great to hear your "new" machine runs smoothly. Now you can sew up a storm!
Judi.....I need to buy my Valentine cards too. This your I bought my DGC gift cards for a book store. I hope the weather cooperates to make your leaving smooth.
Chriss.....I'd be mesmerized too see the machine make my name or anything. Yes she's 8 & Heath will be 6 on Sat. Doing the "slug" is doing something!!
Becca......that was a one sided game. All that hype & a big disappointment except for the Seahawks.
Sherry....OMG......maybe next time he'll think twice & take some meds. I'm happy he'll be fine. We are expecting 3 storms this week....wow....the 1st one has started!
Kathy2.....So glad you are here with us. What fun you must have had shopping with your winnings. Keep us posted when you shop.
Love & Prayers.........Kathy

Good morning! We are still cold… 13 now but going for 40! We haven’t been out of freezing for several days. We will be going to town to work on the rental—it’s all cosmetic, mainly wear and tear from a very heavy guy who has been in there several years. Tomorrow we have snow forecast—at least they have taken the “significant accumulation” off the page and now have “only” 4 – 6 inches.
Scrappy Pat—you ARE scrappy to post and let us know how you are feeling when you don’t feel like it. You are an inspiration! HUGS!!!
I watched the second half of the game. Couldn’t believe the score when I turned it on, then the Seahawks kept scoring… Congratulations, MaryZ! Know Seattle is a happy town with the first national championship since the 70s!
Jana, Sharona, and others… so sorry about the Broncos. I still have a soft spot for them since Rod Smith played for them—he was a student at the university when I was there.
Suzette—Condolences to your brother’s girlfriend’s family. Glad you are doing so well with your radiation.
MEPIECE—Kathy—so happy you have joined us! We have several here in your marital situation as well as those of us who are on the Medicare rolls. You fit right in!!! What a great snag on the fabric bargains plus you still have gift card left for the next sale!
Sherry—That’s so nice that the minister and wife are taking you to lunch and that they came right away to the hospital for your DH and you! I hope that your DH will soon regain his strength. I am so tired of winter. At least there is SUN today!
Becca—the ice didn’t melt yesterday, but I have hopes for today that it will make 40 degrees. The porches and rock walk are still slick. In addition to the rental work, we are out of fresh produce so a trip by the store is on the way home agenda.
Chriss—I liked the Doritos commercial, too. I like your idea of magic. I think all Grandma’s are magic.
Judi—Have a good outing today! I love all your plans for the quilts. That’s sweet that Ken will be helping your DBIL. He’s making progress.
Sooz—so happy to hear your new machine sews like a dream… and that you didn’t have to wait for bobbins to be ordered. Oh, there are always cute little bundles of FQs, aren’t there!
Izzy—you are so busy! Your quilts are so pretty! Enjoy your day off! Sunny here today; snow tomorrow. Sorry!
Vicky—I know Darry’s brother appreciated your visit. Isn’t it funny that some quilts we just can’t quite get around to finishing and they hang over our heads. I should make leaders and enders. Enjoy your sewing room!
Scrap48—Stay in and stay warm! I would not hold a ground hog!
Teresa—Hope your doctor’s appointment goes well! Good luck with your new technology!
Lois—I’m still working on my chicks… 60 eyes and 120 little chicken feet are going slowly. I had to stop and help DH pick out pecans yesterday.
Karlene—I must get out my string quilt again. I was piecing on muslin. I think mine is out of Egg Money Quilts. It’s definitely been in the box too long! Good luck!
Cindy—I wish I could take that FW off your hands, but I already have two FWs. That’s about all the granddaughters I can handle at once! They like the little machines made just for them! I didn’t know Pfaff was made by Viking. Is it new or has it been around awhile? My Pfaff is from about 2001. Since it was used, I don’t know the exact date.
Sharona—How does your son like Bartlesville? It’s definitely not the big city, but it is a pretty town. There is an old hotel right in town, the Phillips (I think) that is very cool. We all stayed down there when my niece was married. Bartlesville is a town that oil built—the Phillips 66 Petroleum people.
Kathy(Quilts)—Isn’t it crazy still looking for things after you’ve moved a year ago! I’m still hunting for things here, too. The way the guys moved us when they wanted the trailer house—they just scooped stuff up and dumped it in our floors. I thought we still had several weeks to pack and get moved over here.
Vicky—I have 4 machines and a serger in my sewing room two. Two machines and the serger are set up. That’s all I can handle at once.
I have to get busy here so we can go to town after brunch. I’m as sick of rentals as I am of winter!
Enjoy today!

Don't feel bad all you financially tight for budget. Need something for a project, mention it, you might be bombarded with wishes...
Myself it's $10,000 yearly, make do, sometimes I see others quilting want to cry for lack off.. But technology advances dearly. I went store for walking foot for machine, don't make anymore, stencils no sell, how about pencil or labels to ID my quilt for show, nope don't sell anymore, so what is the matter? People order online, go to USA, then shop closes down.
I started a trend with quilt quild donate, to library, trade/barter tools don't need, and sell used items. Some equipment we use only 1 or twice then we should share..
A dollar camera, works well for downloading pictures onto your computer...Pictures alone can be scanned at printshops for you to use.. School system in your area, might provide photocopies etc. For a few pennies. Don't despair, just requires imagination, it seems I have plenty of it, better yet, thrift shops might have old printer dot matrix and clean the roller, and get it going... My printer cost me $6.00 works well OK after taking it apart, and cleaning. There always away..

Okay... time for bed. Almost all the laundry is done and my mystery blocks are finished!!! I posted a pic in the Mystery Block discussion. I also posted pics of the redwork tabelcloth my mother made. Someone had asked about it a few days ago. It's not ironed...don't judge..lol. It's in the quilt photo section under SoozG. I am almost finished with 8 LOTTO blocks. Just can't sit at the machine anymore. Tooo tired.
Enjoy the day while I sleep!
