Good Morning......
HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY to DGD Susannah in Austin!!!!!! See you on Skype.
It's a sewing day here with a salad based dinner. No super bowl for me. I do wish there was a Godzilla movie marathon on. When I was at the movies last week a preview started with one low vibrating thud I turned to my sister and said "Godzilla". Sure enough come spring a new movie.
Suzette.....what wonderful pictures of your Grands. I live laying down photos. Those photos should give you inspiration.
Sooz....how awful--no bobbins. Drive carefully to Joann's today. I've done very little paper piecing but I liked it . I miss a class yesterday from my guild because I didn't know who to call to sign up. Good luck with yours.
Izzy....I wonder how often that ground hog is right. We'll have to comfort ourselves with the fact winter always comes to an end.
Kathy2.....HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Is it today? Have a wonderful lunch. I'm happy to hear some one plowed you out. I'm a Kathleen what about you?
Becca......have a relaxing day.
Judi.....I find paper piecing goes against how our minds work for piecing. It's hard for me to break those connections. What fun to go out & come back with a DGC!!!
Love & Prayers to all.....Kathy

Re: Sunday, February 2nd
Good morning! I’m waiting to get my coffee after taking my bone density meds. I am not responsible for errors…
It’s another cold, gloomy, slick day here. We didn’t get above freezing yesterday, so the ice is still here. I’m so glad I stayed in yesterday. The roads were treacherous. DS1 said there were three wrecks at the corner where you leave the paved road to the gravel road to get to our place. The streets in town were also like glass.
I made pecan pancakes for brunch yesterday. I have to say they were delicious.
Suzette—it’s never fun to be awakened by jackhammers. Water lines and sewer problems seem to only occur at the worst times and in the worst weather. Your DGKs are so cute!
Sooz—so sorry you didn’t get any bobbins with your machine. Nancy’s Notions has them for ordering. I’ve ordered for my Pfaff since I don’t live near any sewing centers. Your Dresden plates will be beautiful! I love batiks. I have the most difficult time wrapping my head around paper piecing but love the results. What shows do you get? I have Sewing with Nancy, Quilting Arts, It’s Sew Easy, and Fons & Porter on PBS on Saturdays. I get QIAD on RFD-TV on Wednesdays. My PBS station usually runs older series, but it is still fun to watch them. Sometimes they are just a few weeks late and you can find the magazine for F&P.
Izzy—I can’t believe how busy you were yesterday. I just want to wrap up in a quilt and wait for spring… even when I have time to quilt. I can’t get motivated in the gray cold days.
MEPiece-Kathy—Happy Birthday to you!!! The LQS that I go to has a birthday week discount. Enjoy your shopping spree! How exciting to win on a shop hop!!!
Becca—Have a blessed Sunday!
Judi—your groundhog probably knew better than to come out and be seen against your snow… Good luck with your paper piecing class!!! If you get any good tips, please share with me. I’m there with you on the mental block. I had a bad day yesterday… the gray makes me grumpy… maybe I need pizza and ice cream…
Lucie—I love the “orange rice”. Kids are so cute. That will probably stick and be orange rice when they have kids. That’s neat you are making a quilt that will not be outgrown by the baby. Yep, I’d take 60s!
Scrap48—I love spring rolls… of any kind—the raw or the fried. Have you ever made them? I haven’t. Could they be too difficult? I’m sure there are videos showing them. I want to make some pot stickers. Good job with the darning foot and free motion quilting!
Kathy—Happy Birthday to Susannah! I can’t believe she is now 8! We won’t be watching the game, either. DH is so not a sports fan. Oh, too funny about Godzilla—you made me laugh!
Time to make the coffee and get my eyes and fingers working. Thank goodness for spell-check!
Enjoy today… whatever you do!

Re: Sunday, February 2nd
Good morning all! Another calm day in NW Ohio before another storm hits Tuesday night. I saw the Groundhog see his shadow this morning and I am thinking "naughty' thoughts about him right now. This winter can't end soon enough for me.
Not much going on here. DH has had a bad cold all week and has lost his appetite. His home health care nurse comes tomorrow and I am going to have her check him out. He is so bull-headed and won't even take Tylenol when he has a cold, but if it is serious like his breast cancer he will take care of it. Thank God for that. One of the great questions of the world is why are men so bull-headed? LOL
Sooz - Can't believe you didn't get a least a couple of bobbins with you new machine. I am sure you will find some at JoAnn's. I have two different machines that I use and have always been able to get bobbins at JoAnn Fabric. Happy shopping.
I have never tried paper piecing. Sometimes I have enough trouble with regular piecing. LOL May-be some day I will try it. Right now the new thing I am working on is English Paper Piecing so I can do the hexie pattern I have. Wish me luck.
Well, better go finish my coffee. I plan on working on my El's Mystery Quilt blocks today. I need to get them done before the next webinar in 10 days. Of course definitely won't be working on them during the Super Bowl. I need to concentrate on the game. If you want to see a neat commercial for the Super Bowl go to You-Tube and check out the new Budweiser Commercial called Puppy Love. It is fantastic. For me Budweiser always has the best commercials on the Super Bowl.
Have a Good day all! GO BRONCOS!!!

Good morning!
Suzette – isn’t this the third line to break? My goodness. Glad you were able to get Lydia’s quilt layered. Hope you can squeeze in a wee nap before quilting. Your DGC are beautiful.
Soooz – hope you were able to get the bobbins and are now happily sewing away. I have to gird my loins before I start cutting so I feel your pain.
Izzy – stay warm and enjoy that groundhog stew.
Kathy2 – happy birthday! How nice of your neighbor to plow you out. Have a wonderful lunch.
Becca – enjoy your day and I do hope you take it easy.
Judi – how wonderful that you were able to reset your DGS’s day. I bet he really felt special, being the only one there. I took a paper piecing class and finished the project but haven’t done another one.
Lucie – I also love orange rice! I bet Miriam is right – that will be its official name. Sounds like that new baby will have an interesting nursery! Enjoy your time with the kids.
Scrap – I would love the sparkly thread! And the spring rolls as well.
Kathy – I LOVE Godzilla movies! For Christmas one year, DS2 got my a Godzilla ornament that roars when you press on the spiny thing on his back. It is one of my most prized possessions. I’m also a huge Dr Who fan. I wonder what other shows we have in common. HB to your DGD.
Miriam – you’re so brave to type before coffee! I tried that once and it wasn’t pretty. I need to set up my DVR for all the sewing shows – thanks for that reminder. Are you wearing your lined jeans? I thought of them yesterday as a gust of ice cold wind went up my leg.
Sherry – if you ever get an answer to why men are bullheaded, please share it with us. Hope your DH’s appetite returns. Enjoy the game! I love the puppy love commercial.
I wasn’t awakened by jackhammers but rather by the booming voice of DH asking me where the shaving cream was. At 5am! I was in such a sound sleep I couldn’t even form words. It wasn’t as if I hadn’t told him where it was five times before..!!!! Oh well, no blood was spilled…. DS1 and family are coming down to watch the SB. I would much rather watch a Godzilla marathon, but with the sports nuts in my family that will not happen. Have a great day. xoxo Sharona

Good morning,
Just waiting for DH to leave together for church this morning. Cold and snowy, yesterday on one stretch of I-15, there were 10 wrecks within a few hundred feet of each other -29 cars and trucks -yikes -good time to stay in and sew.
After church andbefore the game, I will head down and sew for a time.
I am still betting on Spring to show up on March 22! I wonder if groundhog tastes like chicken! LOL
Well better get going and remove the rollers from my hair - would not want to scare the little ones!
Do something fun!
Hugs,
Jana

Good Morning Girls
Never made it back here yesterday after my over-haul at the beauty shop.. By the time I got home it was nap time, so took my little snooze then went down and worked on Bird house blocks.. only 5 more to get the little birdies done and then they will be ready to mail.
Am hoping to do a practice block of the Winning hands this afternoon too.
Suzette... What darling Grand babies!!!
Sooz... NO Bobbins! What the heck? Hope you can find them at Joannn today. That would make me crazy!!! My Elna uses the clear plastic bobbins and I can never have enough! Never tired paper piecing.. it's on my "some day list" Almost hurts to cut into beautiful fabric doesn't it!
Izzy... if the ground hog sees his shadow and it means 6 more weeks of winter, then for sure we'll have 6 more weeks. It's very sunny here this morning. And it's 2 Below! Don't see any warm up in sight.
How is your mouth doing?
Mepiece... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! A $200. prize? It would take me all of about 10 minutes to spend that at a LQS! Enjoy!
Judi... sounds like you got a good deal bringing home a 5 year old. Are you counting down the days to leave for FL?
Lucie.. YEAH for the light at the end of the tunnel for studies. That's something I should probably do today too.. I have to do 20 CE credits to keep my certification too.... if I don't I can't renew and my bosses would not be too happy! If you need some outdoor fabric with bears and such I have a ton of 5" charms I'd be happy to share! Interesting for a baby's room, but sounds kin of neat!
Kathy... You're a Godzilla fan?? I never would have guessed. Won't be watching the game here either, but may be will check out the half-time show.. just to see what the buzz is about.
Sharon.... what the heck was DH doing up at 5am in the first place!!! Men!!! If you put something right in front of them they still can't find it! Surely you have to watch the game to day with the Broncos playing!
Sherry... if you ever figure out why men are so bull headed, let us all know! Must be something in their DNA. Hopefully your DH will be feeling better soon, am glad that the nurse will come by and check on him... maybe if SHE says something he will listen!
Chickie... with all that ice... good idea to stay in. Fortunately MN really knows how to take care of the roads so they clear them up pretty fast after a snow fall. If it wasn't so darn cold here, I'd be tempted to go get groceries today!
Becca... I think of ScrappyPat all the time and know that she is hurting and having a tough time.
Well it's time to get my butt up and put on my work clothes. Start the laundry and sew a bit. Room mate is awake, but I bet she's crawled back into bed. Not sure what her plans are for the day. May be apartment hunting? She did unload the dish washer for me yesterday which was a nice surprise.
Wishing you all a most wonderful day!

Well, Lydia's quilt is now an inside project. Perfect for the Super Bowl this evening. It makes me feel better. It has taken me since November to get this done.

Suz - sorry about the noise and the dogs not sleeping well. Can you tell me how big your sewing studio is? I think I remember it's 8' X 8'.
Soooz - I do like paper piecing. The points come out so sharp. I am a batik lover myself. Love love love them. I don't mind cutting into
them at all. The more I use, the more I get to go buy. I bet a Dresden Plate using batiks will be absolutely stunning.
Izzy - My Pux Phil is my husband. There is a Pecan Tree where he works and it's never really spring until that tree pops. When it does he comes home and lets me know that spring is here.
ME - happy birthday and go and enjoy using your door prize money.
Becca - paper piecing does seem a little backwards but I think everyone should try it. Start out with something very easy. If you can learn to cut with a rotary cutter and piece a quilt and put the thing together then you can also learn to paper piece. People either love it or hate it. It's just a different way to put those blocks together.
Judi - I can't wait to see how you do in your paper piecing class. It's not hard - it's just different and you have to get your mind wrapped around it.
Lucie - have fun at the superbowl party even it you do get to bring the food. We won't be watching the game as we're not all that interested in football unless it's the Texans and the Texans are winning.....which definitely didn't happen this year - OUCH. They really sucked.
Scrap - I was asleep until 10:00 this morning. I just don't wake up and DH doesn't wake me up either. So I slept for 10 hours. I guess I needed it. Sorry you have to get groceries today. I detest going to the grocery store. Some people love it.
Kathy - Godzilla??? Seriously????
Chickie - I took my bone density pill this morning, too, so I'm waiting for my coffee. I have 8 minutes and 10 seconds to go.
Sherry - sorry your DH has been a case. Who knows why men are so hard headed! I can only tell you why I am. LOL
Sharona - sorry you have to watch the super bowl. At least you get to see family, right? You like Godzilla, too? This is really none of my business but why was your DH shaving at 5:00 on Sunday morning?
YEA - the timer just went off so I can have my coffee now! WOO HOO
Jana - enjoy church this morning. You can go ahead and have groundhog and then let us know if it tastes like chicken. YUK!
Maryq - when is your roommate's deadline to get out? Ooooo better get that studying done. Gotta keep that certification. Now I'm curious - certification for what?
Yesterday we went to Vicki's to clean the rails and wheels on the long arm and everything is fine with her now. I just have to go there one weekend and quilt my RV quilt that is on the frame. We left there and went to eat at a restaurant that we use to eat at when I was young. They have the best fried shrimp ever and I get to craving them sometimes. Came home and took a nap and then spent the rest of the evening outline stitching my flower appliques. Must stop at Hobby Lobby on my way home tomorrow because I'm almost out of embroidery thread. Now I'm waiting for DH to get back with breakfast. Better get dressed, too. Then I think I'll go work in my sewing hole and save the hand stuff for TV time later.
I hope we can all fondle fabric today.

Cindyg - our Hobby Lobbies are closed on Sundays - lucky you.
Maryq - have fun studying for your recert.
Jana - too funny about the curlers!
As for why my DH was up shaving at 5am - ever since we moved he's been getting up that early to read. I've told him several times how his early hours would be the death of me, but I guess it is what it is. He's always been a morning person. And now I shall go take a nap since I've been up since the butt-crack of dawn. People's lives depend upon it!

Spring rolls, purchase the squares thing like 100 per pkg. Can steam over double boiler some shredded carrots, shredded cabbage, pinch of hamburger, some use rice, whatever you want. It's how you fold makes the beauty.. Like cloth diaper. Ends 1st then roll. Who cares if their perfect, we eat them right away..
You can cook in oil, or fry pan with spit of oil.. I've worked many many temp jobs, why I am informed so much, but not crazy about cooking.
Like these days it's the 3rd can opener I go through, they don't open the cans what a bummer..
